This was super useful because in my own survival world I've just built a small grid fighter, and repairing/building a new one when it gets trashed is going to take me an age, so this thing is going to make it much quicker ^^
Welders walls make a great repair bay as well. Place a projector block on your fighter that is loaded with your fighters blueprint. Adjust the projection so that it projects over your fighter, highlighting the missing parts. Fly alongside your welder wall and have it fit replacement parts and repair damaged blocks.
instead of getting a new kb, you could use a noise cancelling software like Krisp, which is the one that Discord uses. I use it and it works well. I can clap, eat, sneeze, cough, drop shit on the ground and no one hears anything unless im talking
@@LunarKolony I might be one of the few people that actually don't mind these lo-fi keyboard sounds because they got that asmr feel to them. It goes especially well with your chill voice and the lack of background music.
One of the things I do for printing small grids, is i build a standard Rotor on my base somewhere, and put a small rotor head on it. Then you can place a projector on that and have permanent power and a printer built into the large grid base, but for small grids. Dont forget to include projectors ON your miners/fighters so when they're damaged, even without a BuildandRepair unit, you can much quicker get it welded and repaired back up. that outpost and little welder ship are pretty cool..very simple and how i build almost exactly. Thanks for the tutorial!
Enjoying the series man, just binged all 8 episodes. I always like to watch early game progression and you've got a good pace to yours. Keep up the good work! For your keyboard clicking, I'm not sure what you've looked at audio wise, but there are several really good free noise suppressors that can get rid of most of it. There's one in Nvidia Broadcast as well as a filter in OBS that both work pretty well for removing most clicks and background noise. I'm currently using the on in Elgato Wave Link and haven't thought about clicks in a while.
Keep pressing b to build under a block that I normally fly on my side to try and get a block in, and ive played from SE from it first coming out lol you really can learn something new every day.
Much easier using a static projector on your grid with a welder wall that moves via pistons. Starting the pistons out to furthest block of projection and slowly pulling welders back. Works like a dream!
Please keep doing this series. I absolutely love it and its helping me and my friends enjoy the game at alot faster pace. I look forward to you going to space and getting set up there as thats what im struggling with at the moment. Thriving on earth like planet but not sure what to bring when going to space to survive without the immediate need to go back to my first base.
I think it would make sense for the tug to put controls on the hotbar for thruster strength, so one could adjust to make it less jumpy when 'empty', but increase as the ship gets built.
@@oscargaming7582I think you are forgetting that this is a vanilla (as in no mods, there is dlc) playthrough meant so that anyone with the game could follow along. Adding a mod restricts who can follow the guide, since modding is more limited on consoles, and might make it less "appealing" to people who want to play vanilla Space Engineers.
@@oscargaming7582 I am also sorry for how harsh my reply was. When I said the first part about it being vanilla, it was a lot more angry than I wanted. Also, you do still make a good point for people who want their game easier by not needing complicated machines (and possibly scripts/timers for automation) in order to print ships from blueprints, and who don't mind installing a few convenience/"cheat" mods.
@@thecodeking91 I just did a quick video about collecting uranium using an Earth Spaceship miner. BTW, I have a query and I wonder if you know the solution.
Perhaps I missed it but do you have a video on the construction of that drone? I understand we can download it from the workshop, but I always like to see how something I might use was built and why it was built that way.
I havent seen anyone else do it, and cant find a search on it. So thought I'd share my setup. A Rotor with small projector on it. That Slowly spins, like a kebab machine.... Pistons and welders that go as close as possible before pulling back (Sensor extend / retract) and basically print the ship in a rotary style till its done.
Im relatively new to the game, but i find small grid printers with welders on a single piston work just fine - scaling up piston printers is tricky, but for a small grid printer, one piston is enough.
We will not forget keyboard typing! And it is possible to put the projector on the ground and make the welders mobile? If so, you could have the welders turn on and build while the piston retracts!
Yeah absolutely! You could even use pistons and keep both on the ground, there's a lot of different ways to go about it, I just showed one of the absolute simplest
Awesome video as always! 😎 I have a question about thrust: How do you figure out (besides just years of intuition) how much thrust you need for any given ship build? Is there a golden ratio or something like that?
I really have been living in the dark ages of Space Engineers. I am going to have to build me one of those. Would using a piston with a mag plat on it work just as well?
A bit late, but I'm pretty sure a mag plate wouldn't work. Projectors project onto the same grid, and connectors, landing gear and mag plates do not truly merge grids. A merge block would work, and could also be attached/detached without grinding anything down.
@elfinstine0221 ah okay I have all the dlc I haven't been playing to long i got it for Christmas then got the new dlc for my birthday so I don't know too much even now lol
I am glad people are still doing tutorials. Every 2 years or so I am coming back to this game but only play for a short time. I am always amazed how lazy the developers are, there is still not water, the sun is still rotating around planets, the whole solar system is empty of enemies to fight and even with the addition of AI blocks auto mining is terribly convoluted. But modders are keeping the game alive and the additions they made in my last cycle are worth playing again.
I don't agree with you. The devs aren't lazy and since you apparently don't play that much I don't think you have the whole picture. - Keen SH isn't that large - The Engine is a inhouse engine and over 10y old. - Most of them are working on the new engine Moving planets, flowing water, etc is just stuff thats not possible in the old engine. I don't know how much you know about programming but there are just things that are not possible or at least not feasible. The new engine will have water, because it is designed for it. On what points is it based that they are lazy? Just because the features that you want aren't in the game?
I am the same and are in the newest cycle right now and I’m having a blast! I have 300 hours in this game just smashing ships together but this time around I’m playing survival and it’s super fun!
Devs are definitely not lazy and are actually working on stuff for this game despite it being over 10 years old. Most of your complaints will be in the new engine as well. Auto mining at least on PC is as easy as one script. For console players you can still automate mining but with extra steps and blocks over scripts but nothing too hard.
The camera was because of your own carelessness. You could have positioned the projection next to an attachable armour block you could then free by cutting off your anchor block. It’s easy enough to do and I doubt you didn’t know about it but were just being lazy but you’ll pay for it later when the camera isn’t named, grouped and configured according to the blueprint specs. And yes, I know you know about that too but can you really say I’m wrong that your laziness/negligence won’t cost you down the line? If you don’t want called out on failing to learn the lesson then learn the lesson.
I've had a look at a few comments you've posted on the channel, and honestly I hope you're all good man. Feels like you're taking out some sort of anger or trying to prove yourself, either way I appreciate the observations but sincerely hope that you're doing OK.
