Will it be possible to turn your ship via thrusters firring into different directionswithout a gyro? And will there be more realistic physics for ships (for example putting all thrusters on one side and having all weight on the other and the ship can fly perfectly)?
"Keen has a really good track record for supporting their products…" Miner wars and medieval engineers died such a quiet undignified death they didn't even warrant a mention lmao.
If at least half of the people mentioning Medieval Engineers bought the game - it would never fail. You can't make a game for audience of a 100, it's not economically viable...
It is super nice. But while I am really excited, I want to see survival blueprints that work with sub grids more. I know that stuff isn't in yet, so I just have to wait to see
Ah, I remember the good ol’ space engineers days! Loved the survival group series from every POV, but Potatoes was probably my favorite character lol. I rebuilt him from your video and uploaded him to the steam workshop when you first built him! Still my only creation on the workshop lol. Keep on making great content!
Loved Space Engineers since basically the beginning in 2013, thousands of hours, now I'm here for SE2. I'm glad I found your channel through SC content, now I'm here for SE2 as well.
I originally got into your content via captain shack and looked into your POV from the group survival series! I watched all of the POVs every time they came out and it was really fun. Please keep covering as SE2 updates!
Space Engineers itself felt like it was trying to sell parts to you instead of just adding them to the game really, if SE2 is the same i'll be skipping it
@@Morphologis That maybe so, but it still means they objectively do not have a great track record of supporting their products. The abandonment of Medieval Engineers is the main reason I'm not buying into Space Engineers 2 until is a largely complete game. In fact I find it very suss that they're putting it into early access in such an early state.
@@wearegeekoclock That take doesn't make any sense. For the size of KSH as a studio back in 2015 or prior, there's no way they could have produced a 2025 SE back then. They didn't have the money to float the studio for 10 years with no game to show for it and no sales. So they had to put out as much game as they could make, periodically. There's no corporate publisher with deep pockets backing the development, so that you get a single supposedly feature complete v1.0 release after years of development (I say supposedly, b/c it's not like AAA studios necessarily release complete, bug-free games that provide everything promised on day 1, or that AAA publishers never sell you more parts for their games, no way, never). The hybrid free base game update + OPTIONAL DLC (98% cosmetic variations) is one of the more preferable models for making a compromise between continuing game development and support FOR 10 YEARS against the need to generate revenue to sustain that development. One of the benefits of iterative development like this is that KSH can see what the community and modders create, what they want or need, then respond to that. Sure, sometimes players complain "modders did it first, KSH are a bunch of talentless hacks." But when modded concepts get included into the base game, everyone wins: the modder is no longer obligated to put up with dozens of "u suck" and "y u no add XYZ" comments or maintain the mod after they quit playing the game; KSH gets to roll out a feature with demonstrable popularity; and players get something with official dev and game engine support instead of scripts with excessive loops that some well-intentioned one-man-show cobbled together. I wish more successful devs with the sufficient cashflow would incorporate something like a bounty system to reward/compensate successful modders for original concepts that eventually get included in the base game. I know Bohemia Interactive has done a real-money competition for mods (that were not ever officially incorporated into the game, meaning the modders kept full rights to their own IP, I think, even though BI paid out something like $300k across multiple winning modding teams). In 2015, KSH were just too new and inexperienced to implement something like the Automatons update, or that AI blocks were something the players would respond to well. Iteration means much better responsiveness and alignment between community and devs. If you think the process sucks, then you are welcome to return to the ecosystem of EA, Ubisoft, Activision, and all that. There, you can get a completely new and not at all rehashed v1.0 game release every year or two.
It was disapointment for sure, I had some good fun in the game, but ultimately when you look at the game objectively, aside from it's building mechanics, there pretty much wasn't anything else to the game. The Only enemies were few loose bandits and their AI was objectively bad. One look at steam player numbers will make you see how little of active players it really had for a long period of time (before abandonment) and one must not forget that ME had to basicaly compete for players with other fantasy/medieval survival games (which there are plenty of) who offers similar content ( Conan series comes to mind). Keen honestly did the best thing they could do in their situation and pulled out. Its sad, but one must remember it's just small studio of 75 people. Making ME more competetive in order to justify it's development time & cost, it would need 50 dedicated developers + serious cash injection for hope of making enough content to increase the player numbers... that's a lot of "if's" for small studio.
im so hyped for this. i started to play space engineer 1 again and once more stuff is in there i will play this with my friends again. such a great game.
Ahh memories. I found your channel through space engineers just as group survival was ending and while the end in space engineers content was sad i'm glad i found star citizen through that. Also that is the coolest looking ship i've seen anyone make in SE 2 yet.
Space Engineers also has a fantastic modding community with a ton of great mods adding all sorts of unique parts to build with! I've had so much fun messing with Epstein drives from The Expanse, and using more realistic orbital mechanics
God, I can't believe it's been so long since SE1 launched. Was in the early access for that game too lol. I joined your channel in the Group Survival days, still miss that series. Hope you return to making more SE vids, always got some great ideas from your builds.
This is mostly unrelated to the video, but your channel is what got me to take architecture more seriously. your videos breaking down the ships in Star citizen are amazing for understanding how to make a space actually feel like what its supposed to be. (what separates a luxury yatchs quarters to cargo ships berthing) WHICH Is a great way to go from making boxes with thrusters to making boxes with thrusters with nice interiors :3
Genuinely forgot Morph’s group survival series was the reason I started playing SE and even Star Citizen down the line. Guy knows where the space theme’d dopamine hides and I’m just following.
I definitely watched you during the original SE storyline. And was honored to join in the kraken video production (Remember my cool Hydrogen tank tower?!) just before they launched the replay update. My wife and I quote potatoes frequently. Whenever one of us is rambling on and the other goes "What are you talking about?" and our reply is usually "Cake." in the potatoes voice. I'm glad to see you get back into the SE
That series introduced me to Space Engineers which was then the main reason I got into PC gaming! I have watched and thoroughly enjoyed the content of You, Shack and W4sted for almost 10 years now!! On a side note, rewatching that first episode with the alphas old potato textures…but the same old Kolt command consoles is hilarious
I remember your Spengies content! That was what introduced me to your channel in the first place. Potatoes' antics made me giggle. I don't know how much mileage I'll get out of Space Engineers 2 since survival-craft isn't really my thing, but I'm definitely curious to see what kinds of stuff the creative community will do with it.
Good to see you back in SE "officially"! Been enjoying the SE2 slice so far, there are a few wonky things in the UI decisions (to me at least), but a lot of improvement as well (thank Clang for the block orientation rotation controls being consistently from the character's view finally!) Looking forward to seeing what the new (and old) generations of SE creators get up to in this next chapter!
Seeing the group survival start at the beginning brings back good memories, that was a amazing time. I honestly kinda miss the old space engineers in some ways.
Watched you back when you were one of the best Space Engineers youtubers, only for you to become one of the best Star Citizen youtubers. Hope to see more of your content around SE in the future!
haha! I knew you were gonna get it! I asked you during your livestream, and you were like, "naw I'll wait a little while to get it" but I knew you couldn't wait!!!!! hahaha!
MORPHOLOLOLOGIS! Rise, my son. Return to your place upon the throne. But goofiness aside, it’s a strange yet wonderful feeling to see an upload about Space Engineers on your channel, it feels like it’s been ages and ages. I wanna say it was like 6 or more years ago, like I would’ve been in high school then lol. Now I’m married and have a kid on the way, and man how the years have flown by already lol
Wow, those clips in the intro - I remember making a janky little edit of your survival series, I've just relisted it on my channel. Almost 9 years ago now :') Space engineers has always had my heart. I'm glad I've stuck around your channel long enough to see you cover SE2. I definitely don't have time to put 2000 hours into this one anymore... but I will definitely still buy it and play it some, because I love KEEN and Space Engineers.
Welcome back Morph we missed you! It would be cool to see you review players ships or use SE2 to show changes you would have made for ships SE2 going to be wild
I follow u for the SC videos. Didnt know you also love this game I love so much. I'll be looking forward for your amazing videos on this one that IMO, will drag a lot of frustrated SC gamers back to a real Space Sim.
Im excited to for what's to come. Train tracks will never have worked so good. Though ill probably do it as mag trains in the future using gravity generators. Of course the ship designs will be awesome. Including boats, submarines, perhaps a functional hyperloop tunnel that actually operates with a vaccum (even if it has no practical applications to do so in game), and so much more
Never played the first and didn't realise how feature rich it was! Sound like release of the second game might be a good time to start :) Great video as always bud!
Space Engineers is probably a better place to start, being a more complete sandbox. SE2 is in Alpha right now; you would be buying into a game that is in active development with a lot of missing features. Just understand that SE is a sandbox game in the purest sense of the phrase. It does not have a story outside of the one you make (or add with mods). At their core they’re both a big box of virtual LEGO that you get to play with.
@@ivanheffner2587 Thanks for the reply! No stranger to that from playing Star Citizen! 😆 I don't mind buying into a game early that has a proven track record for sure 😁
2:00 this made me laugh because i had experienced these "phantom forces" after crashing into a ship with another and the ship i was flying started to spin violently. Unless this is because of a gyro glitch "which would be very cool if faulty equipment can start misbehaving"
Liquid water is exciting. Performance might be an issue as always. Actually looking forward to " jumping back in" to space engineers and hopefully having less frustrations executing epic builds. 👍
Man I miss the SE days. I remember staying up late to help out and fly one of the fighters in your carrier video at 0:36. Such a blast. I hope SE2 will give us a lot of the things we always wanted from SE1, and will integrate a lot of things SE1 did great with mods, like MES.
I really wish they'd instance/shard server areas, like being able to 100% separate individual planets and such or adding even more bonkers features, like async multiplayer or being able to 'jump' your ship to another linked server that's part of the same wider 'map.' That way you don't have to necessarily have all the players trading data or even communicating with the server if they're on their own, but you can still do MP stuff.
There is now a Grid Export tool out on the SE1 workshop, made by Keen! The first thing I did was export the Constitution, and is the first blueprint I have in SE2.
I've seen a number of people complaining that there's no multiplayer available on SE2 early alpha. It's ridiculous. I'm trying to track down the cause of a bug I ran into in SE2... it seems to be related to copying and pasting things into the world, but I'm not sure yet what, exactly causes it. But the issue is that there's some action that causes collision damage to stop working. One minute, I'm slamming ships into each other, wrecking things, the next, they're just bouncing off each other. The glitch seems to actually latch itself into a save file. If I load a save before whatever event caused the glitch, collision works fine, but if I save after a bounce, the bounces continue, even if I exit and restart the game.
Oh boy, I remember playing space engineers while waiting for Star Citizen. Looks like we will be playing Space engineer 2 waiting for Star Citizen as well 😂
Found you through SC videos, but I am an avid SE player. I mostly do planet stuff with planes, tanks, boats, etc. Exited to see what Keen cooks up with SE2, and I'm exited to see what you think!
Potatos!!! That was you!? What goes around comes around on the Internet I guess. Who is my favourite little autonomous drilling boy absolutely the best character!
I was a late comer to Space Engineers. Watched it with interest during early access but didn't buy it until full release. Love the game. I don't think I ever saw your Space Engineers content but did hear your name while watching Splitsie, Shack and WastedSpace. When I bought Star Citizen and was checking out videos for it, I recognized your name so it was pretty much an instant subscribe.
I picked up the Pioneer Edition the first day it was available, but I don't intend to spend much time in SE2 until they get working doors and buttons, at least (I'm not on Splitsie's level of "let's see what we can make out of these two, tin cans"). The pieces they have look GORGEOUS, but it's clearly an alpha, and they've barely even gotten started on incorporating SE1's functionality. I'm really looking forward to the final SE2 product, but SE1's going to remain my "go-to" for quite awhile yet. Either way, I LOVE Keen and the Space Engineers community at large. 👍
Looks like something I need to keep my eye on. Did not get much chance to get into the first. But it looks like this will be more polished, and I is good to see that they focus so much in creating a good core. Of the shelf engines have there place. But it still the case that if you need something unique, you better build it yourself.
Im so happy that SE2 is finally here, though for me Im likely to stick with SE1 for awhile and finish some projects before finally going over fully to SE2 upon the release of planets and subgrids; Also really loved your SE content, it was the reason I started watching the channel.
I love everything they’re doing with SE2, but the main thing I want to see is Multiplayer performance improvements, I want to be able to have proper 10 people battles without the sim speed dropping to a tenth of what it normally is, and all kinds of weird bugs and crashes occurring
Thanks for this video. Nice idea to change the focus from SC to this game. I will buy Space Ingeneering after your video. Thank you for this discovery. Please continue your videos with other games other than SC.
Incredibly excited for SE2! Really hoping for some major optimization updates when they add MP, the servers I played on with my friend group always died when someone inevitably made a couple massive ships and the server immediately dropped to 20fps max.
This game needs AI/programmable ships, some sort of energy shields to make combat more interesting, and a campaign of some sort. IMO if they let us play this game closer to something like Avorion or X1 it will be a truly great game.
SE modding community have built a number of mods that introduce different enemy factions with different behaviors. Go check out Orks, Reavers, or Corrupted. Modding community also have added energy shields and weapons. Campaigns are about the only thing lacking, but there are some scenarios that exist to play through: Escape from Mars; Lost Colony; Frostbite.
We are back and cooking! 😉
Zlaté České ručičky! :)

I’m just amazed they actually managed to develop vocalized water into the game.
I long for the day I can see Potatoes in this new game! She was always a fun sight to see.
When I bought Star Citizen and was checking out videos for it, I recognized your name so it was pretty much an instant subscribe.
will never forget all the SE content
2:01 Gallente Nebula skybox from Eve? That's a throwback
No you can actually group blocks -> button is next to the search bar ;)
The biggest thing I want from the sequel is curved blocks, please keen.
Ok, Im buying it now. Gotta wait till Im home from college, but being able to build ships like this would be so fuckin nice
I didn’t know you played space engineers! I put Star Citizen down for reasons you know, and I’ve been playing SE non-stop since! Great content!
Good to see you back on SE :)
Oh, the feels with that intro
As long as Clang gets his due, praise Clang!
Honestly, I don't really watch your SC content. But I used to watch all your SE content, and prob will you SE2 content.
I love everything they’re doing with SE2, but the main thing I want to see is Multiplayer performance improvements, I want to be able to have proper 10 people battles without the sim speed dropping to a tenth of what it normally is, and all kinds of weird bugs and crashes occurring
Dr. Morph is BACK!!!!
Subscribed in the SE1 times.
Thanks for this video. Nice idea to change the focus from SC to this game. I will buy Space Ingeneering after your video. Thank you for this discovery. Please continue your videos with other games other than SC.
Minor correction: there is grouping (the little button at the top of the component selection), but it now uses a folder structure and is a bit buggy
I subscribed back in the day with the space engineers seires
Wow this game looks cool
