FIRST CLASS BUS Bangkok to Chiang Mai OVERNIGHT BUS - Sombat Tours, Chiang Mai to Pai, VIP Bus

Overnight buses are not new to us (we've been taking two every weekend so we can travel outside of Bangkok and still make it back to work), however this was our first time on this type of VIP first class bus!
We booked this bus from Bangkok to Chiang Mai using 12go.asia as, after months of traveling Thailand, we found that's the easiest website to use! The bus was with Sombat Tours (it actually left the Sombat tours station, not MoChit Bus terminal). But what's funny is we couldn't see this bus listed on the Sombat Tours website...only on 12go.asia!
Our goal was to get to Pai, Thailand by taking this fancy VIP bus from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, then changing to a van to get to Pai. Luckily our bus arrived in Chiang Mai a little early. We had to run across the street from the Chiang Mai Bus Terminal 2 to Chiang Mai Bus Terminal 2. Where a van was about to leave for Pai in 5 minutes! We bought the van tickets for 150 baht each and headed to Pai!

What an intense journey !! BKK to Chiang Mai and then straight to Pai with over 700 sharp curves and raining. I would be exhausted. hahahaha
🤣🤣 I guess we're used to it after all the weekend trips we've done! Actually the one that we were most scared of still was the 7 hour overnight bus straight into the 4 hour hike up Phu Kradueng 😱 now THAT was exhausting 🤣❤️

At first we weren’t happy about the rain, but I think it was good because it made the air more clear! 😍
It was raining because of an artificial rain. Thailand has had royal artificial rain project since 1969 by The King Rama IX. The project had initial objective for relieving the drought in Esan area. But later it is expanded the utility to resolve bad air pollutions in the current “burning season” .

The reason why it's raining is because the season is about to change. Enter the summer🙏❤️
It was the first time we tried it and it was so nice! 😍 we actually find the overnight buses give us more time to travel because when we would finish work in Bangkok on Friday we could jump on an overnight bus, arrive in our destination early, and explore right away! Even though a plane is faster, flights would be more expensive and there might not be as many options Friday nights. Hopefully we'll have the Pai video up soon! ❤️

We did tubing in Pai and it was so fun! 😍 also that’s the first that we heard of the 60th anniversary of ancient city! It sounds like fun!! Especially in traditional clothes, we still haven’t dressed up here ❤️

As I know, Sombat Tours VIP bus has another eating room for VIP only. It is buffet which serve you many of better foods. You can eat as much as you can. This room is for normal standard bus.
😱 we actually saw a separate room, but we were really tired and confused so we just ate at the first place we saw 🤣🤦♀️🤣 luckily the krapao was still good! 😍

What memories this brought back when I used to do bus trips from Singapore to Hadyai or from Bangkok to Chiangmai in the 70's. I would certainly like to try these new busses.

I don't dare to take mini van to Pai on the winding road, definitely get carsick.
On the way there it wasn't bad because we slept for most of it....but our van back to Chiang Mai left Pai at 5pm and we both felt so sick 😭

Only one thing about foreign food ,Thai people don't really know how to make standard taste .because everyone expect different taste such as sweet or too sweet etc.but yeah we still try our best .

Glad the entertainment selection on the monitor, the phone charge outlets, & reading light in this VIP bus we’re working. ( I like how the attendant wears a special uniform.) btw-If you can book your domestic flight ticket 2-3 weeks before it’s usually 300-400 baht more than you bus ticket only.
Yessss - this bus had ALL the extras 😍 it was great! This bus was the most expensive one we’ve taken 😬 we actually looked at flights for this trip too, but we wanted to try this bus 🥰

สวัสดีครับทั้งสองคน จากเชียงใหม่นะครับ ขอให้มีความสุขในการท่องเที่ยวนะครับ..วันนี้ พฤหัสบดีที่16มีนาคม ก็ยังมีฝนอีกครับ แต่ดีมากๆเพราะช่วยชะล้างฝุ่นควันในอากาศให้หายไป จะได้สูดอากาศดีอีกครั้งหลังจากต้องทนดมควันมานาน
We got so lucky with the rain!! It was raining when we arrived in Pai, then we had nice weather (and good air). Then it rained the day we got back to chiang mai. But it was nice and sunny in Mon Jam 😍😍
