- Trooper Joe Paul took the witness stand again Monday in the boyfriend cop murder trial. Karen Read’s defense grilled Trooper Paul about the alleged crime scene and what he could conclude, and confirm, about John O’Keefe’s death. During his testimony, it was discovered Trooper Paul was asked by the Commonwealth not to reconstruct the allegedly deadly pedestrian crash.

I walked in blind. But then as soon as I caught wind of the FBI investigation and the actual reconstruction, and you will see the reconstructionist testify, and then I saw the dog bites, I knew something was afoul.

She constantly corrects Jackson for adding "flare" to his questions but let's Lally give the answers to witnesses with leading questions.
Jackson caught Lally today and objected but Lally asked tropper Paul when a picture was taken and he had no idea so Lally then RE ASKS the same question but phrases it with the date the picture was taken and this isn't the 1st time he's done it.
It's sneaky and really underhanded.
They get paid from the same entity. It's US against them.

This is what happens when you take an online class and apply zero common sense. I think he believes his idiotic scenario could actually happen the way he describes. Our education system sure has dumbed down the American people.
I worry honestly for us not even 10 years ago a person with his “expertise” would have been laughed out the room let alone be used by a prosecutor to a freaking expert witness. The dumbing down of America is what worries me for the future in all aspects of life.

What he tried to do is prove Trooper Proctor’s declaration that Karen Reid hit John O’Keefe with her car, but the math is at mathing. that’s why the defense attorney, Alan Jackson asked Trooper Paul if he knew what confirmation bias means.

He said that his arm hit the tail light sideways and caused several abrasions.. which caused the tail light to explode, and he hit his head on the the curb, but also flew 10 plus feet onto the property ...I cannot understand this scenario..
Only 8 minutes in and I can’t believe what Im hearing. He only got his job because he knows someone. He is clearly not qualified. They should just end this trial now, not guilty!

I think he got set up. He had no idea what he did not know.
I think he probably used a calculation (from protocols) that his law enforcement agency (and probably many others) has deemed acceptable through science. I think the lawyer is trying very hard to make him look less than acceptable at his job. If he used the department protocol to come to his conclusion of the accident, he did his job. He appears to be nervous and this lawyer seems to be taking advantage of it, but in all fairness, he’s defending his client. If I was on the jury, I believe this wouldn’t necessarily endear me to the lawyer. Just my opinion.
He seems like a yes man to me. He will just agree to anything if asked. I feel pity for him. Sad.

How many times has this genius testified in court on traffic accident reconstruction. It is obvious he is an in house so called expert that testified to whatever the police need him to. They probably all git together and asked who passed math in high school and he was the only one who claimed he did so he got the job. How embarrassing. Tax payers are paying him to be an expert!!!

The horrifying truth about how this trooper ended up being an "expert" in MA is not based on how smart he is but how many friends he had to prop him up for the job. You dont get advanced in MA based on degrees, its nepotism and corruption. I know this becasue I have corrupt family in MA law enforcement and none of them deserved the honor of wearing the badge. Its just how the system works in MA.

Because you can't become a judge without easily identifying type of objections. There's no need to say the type of objection. Some judges may require to say the type of objection but it isn't legally required.
Judge is so inpatient. I went with not guilty after this fiasco. We will never know the truth.

12:50 What training class says that mass is irrelevant in a pedestrian calculation. Literally makes no sense in the states own case. So his weight was irrelevant because the car is so heavy but it's relevant that it caused the tail light to break and him to get knocked onto the ground with enough force to render him unconscious. They are trying to have it both ways, and unlike the state arguments, match and physics are a known calculatble fact.
This man is not an expert.
This is really painful to watch. I actually feel sorry for trooper Paul at times but he really shouldn’t be in the job he is if he doesn’t have the knowledge necessary. It’s a bit scary to think about what other scenes and accidents were ‘reconstructed’ by this guy.

In the past week, Ms. Read has become more animated. The poker face is gone. The relief is setting in. She knows her case has been proven innocent. She sees the jury and feels their verdict.
She never had a poker face, she's always moving around, making faces and whispering. It's the one thing that could turn the jury against her because the facts are on her side.
