  • The 2024 Subaru WRX TR trim represents an exciting addition to the WRX lineup, focusing on enhanced performance and driving experience. Here's how it distinguishes itself from the standard WRX models:
    *Engine and Performance:*
The WRX TR is powered by the same 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer engine found in the standard WRX, delivering 271 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. This engine ensures power is distributed to all four wheels via Subaru's symmetrical all-wheel-drive system. A significant aspect of the TR trim is its manual transmission, which is a nod to driving enthusiasts preferring a more hands-on driving experience.
    *Braking and Handling Upgrades:*
Subaru has significantly upgraded the WRX TR's braking and handling capabilities. The TR trim includes a Brembo brake package featuring six-piston calipers in the front and two-piston calipers in the rear, along with larger rotors and a brake master cylinder. It rides on trim-exclusive 19-inch wheels shod with Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires, enhancing grip. Additionally, stiffer springs, revised dampers, and a retuned steering rack are part of the package, sharpening the vehicle's handling and steering response.
    *Weight Reduction:*
To improve performance, the WRX TR trims some weight compared to its standard counterpart by omitting the power moon roof.
    *Interior and Tech:*
Inside, the WRX TR boasts upgraded black and grey Recaro seats upholstered in Ultrasuede, providing a comfortable yet sporty seating position. The infotainment system includes an 11.6-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The TR trim also comes standard with Subaru's EyeSight suite of driver assist features, enhancing safety with adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, lane departure warning, and more.
    *Driving Experience:*
The WRX TR's modifications result in a sharper, more engaging driving experience. Its enhanced suspension and braking systems are designed to handle challenging driving conditions with confidence. While it maintains the practicality and interior space Subaru is known for, the TR trim stands out for its performance-focused enhancements, making it the WRX variant to buy for those prioritizing driving dynamics.
    *Price and Positioning:*
Priced at $42,775, the WRX TR situates itself as a high-performance option within the WRX lineup, appealing to enthusiasts looking for a car that combines the practicality of the WRX with enhanced driving dynamics and exclusivity.
In summary, the 2024 Subaru WRX TR trim distinguishes itself from standard WRX models through its performance-oriented enhancements, including a robust braking system, handling upgrades, and a sporty interior, all while retaining the core attributes that make the WRX a popular choice among driving enthusiasts.

This WRX TR looks great in Ignition Red, i have just purchased my 5th new WRX since 2005, a 2023 Sport SPT which i am enjoying the drive, the WRX is a great drivers car with its good road manners, the built in safety features. I have considered many other cars, but i keep coming back to the Subaru WRX, that AWD is a winner 👍 Au

Question I have is how, or can you completely turn off the EyeSight for spirited driving? You certainly can't have this thing emergency braking on track as you're riding up someone's backend in a tight corner.

no sunroof makes the car even stiffer so better. And less places to get corrosion. Also helps the interior look to stay sharp since sunlight will not damage it as much

Given that you get Subaru's at MSRP or below, definitely worth looking at. The TR is a little pricey, but does away with any niggles about brakes. Even used those brake calipers are 2500ish usd for an OK set. The adaptive cruise control is a nice to have on a journey for sure.
And if you ever want to tune, the engine is wayy underboosted, and easy + cheap to do.

Definitely cannot replace the sti, hell the bastard son EV sti they dish out in the future cannot replace the sti. The sti was a dinosaur, its motor was ancient but full of personality, it was a noisy car and I don’t mean the exhaust, it had 2 lsd and 1 dcd. The sti uses an outdated hydraulic steering system that automakers just don’t use anymore on newer vehicles for better or worse. The sti has a bullet proof transmission good for 750whp. The sti had a superior awd system compared to the Rex, and the car overall was a very raw feeling car. The Rex’s after 2015 lost that raw feel and I don’t expect they will ever have it again.

Long live the TR. What a powerful opening statement. You really know how to seduce the audience. You had me convinced at the upgraded brake master cylinder. When I found out all 2024 wrx had the upgraded master cylinder tho I was upset you made it sound like it was only the TR. I felt cheated. I trusted you. You were the eyesight to my road complacency.

Considered this trim for a second, then went out and bought a 20 Sti for 34k with low miles! The “TR” (tuner ready) wrx should’ve been priced around base model maybe even cheaper than a base. Y’all can keep it for 43k. lol

    • @karmahunden
      @karmahunden 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

TR no longer means Tune Ready. Subaru now says it means Track Ready. Hence, why it’s more expensive: it has track upgrades rather than a stripped down base blank canvas for tuning.

I was unaware of this. Meh. Im not into poser trims. If you are doing performance do performance. Dont give me lipstick, give me muscle, real capability. As it is you are just giving me a car that crys for more power with the brakes tires and handling and you didn't do that. You end up with a car that is egging you on but cannot execute what the chassis, brakes, and tires are telling you, you can do.
