One giant positive about the quest line is it's a really creative way to help you explore Sumuru, it shouldn't be that long, but the point is 'exploration' and that will take you 10+ hours with or without a questline.

Emissions from livestock (methane) breaks down over time and was not something once sequestered into the planet being removed from the planet. In other words, as livestock population remains constant, so does their warming effect. That is not the case for automobiles/homes running on fossil fuels like petrol and [natural/underground] methane. That is carbon that would otherwise be kept in the earth rather than released into the atmosphere. And automobiles are the most inefficient/problematic form of travel compared to nearly all other options (walking, cycling, train/tram, boat, etc.) Obviously one of the other major problems is simply the burning of fossil fuels for power generation- namely coal. Other industry like metals and concrete produce quite a bit of greenhouse gasses as well, but they maybe aren't quite as high priority to reduce.

The ozone layer is far from almost repaired. There is an ozone hole over Antarctica and it'll still take decades for the hole to return to pre-industrial levels (Source: NASA Ozone Hole Watch). And the fact that it does heal is because we actually did something this time and banned chemicals that dissolve it. It didn't miraculously recover on it's own. El Nino is an oceanic phenomenon associated with a band of warm ocean water. It's not a hurricane and it isn't over. It's a phase that can last up to 4 years(btw funny enough this typically means less hurricanes in the Atlantic). While it exists for thousands of years, it has been getting stronger, often lasts longer and has higher frequency in the last decades and that may be because of global warming. This one isn't over and it's predicted to be at least going on well into 2024.
The Ozone can "heal," and in fact, it already has been.

They seemed unfortunately very ignorant of the global warming mechanics, although I suppose it isn't below average knowledge of a typical person. They seemed to think that the ozone layer is related to global warming? (or maybe it was just expressed poorly). Oceanic shipping and livestock are not especially concerning sources of warming because boats are efficient travel. Emissions from livestock (methane) breaks down over time and was not something once sequestered into the planet being removed from the planet. In other words, as livestock population remains constant, so does their warming effect.
That is not the case for automobiles/homes running on fossil fuels like petrol and [natural/underground] methane. That is carbon that would otherwise be kept in the earth rather than released into the atmosphere. And automobiles are the most inefficient/problematic form of travel compared to nearly all other options (walking, cycling, train/tram, boat, etc.)
Obviously one of the other major problems is simply the burning of fossil fuels for power generation- namely coal. Other industry like metals and concrete produce quite a bit of greenhouse gasses as well, but they maybe aren't quite as high priority to reduce.
People have trouble recalling correctly what photosynthesis is not sure what you are expecting here. Also considering the average person who pretends to care about the environment falls for the personal responsibility trap no idea why you think the average person who doesn't would have any knowledge beyond a few buzz words.
