Personally, Stitch is the best summon. He's a big help in fights like Terra/Lingering Will and both Demyx's (normal and data version). The only disadvantage is that he trolls with you a lot.
Nah, I did the same thing too. It's all good if got the job done LOL. I used Peter Pan and his limit to help me finish off that Experiment thing in Christmas/Halloweentown.
don't feel too bad, that's the best way to level the summon bar if you can't juggle the exp bar between numbers-that is having it go below one number and collecting orbs/hitting enemies to have it go up a number again before it drains to the lower number once more. Both decreases give a summon exp point, while summon limits give however many bars of summon gauge they drain
I believe you forgot to mention that Chicken Little throws potions on Sora when low on HP, just like Genie does. This is on top of the small healing received for every hit scored on an enemy.
I'll be honest, they really do poorly express to the player just what the summons do. Testing each of them out in my first playthrough years ago I've never really noticed any of these useful abilities. Chicken Little felt like a gimmick that was only there just because, Stitch did little overall except maybe launch and attack or stun everyone every now and then - though I found him useful in the underworld cups sometimes - and Peter Pan did little or nothing at all. The only one I valued was Genie since he could put out reliable damage to a group of enemies and was pretty easy to understand. I wish I knew each of the other summons had such utility, and wasn't about the damage output. I probably would have used them far more often than reserving the drive gauge for drive forms, which I had little understanding of their unique abilities anyways. yeah same. i've played kh2 on crit twice and barely ever used summmons because i didnd't know what they did. now i'm doing a level 1 run and realized i should probably learn what these summons do lmao. kh1 also didn't really explain summons but those ones are more intuitive and easier to understand what they do without a guide
+StickmanSham You can combine Bambi and Thundara to Kill heartleas quick and farming Elexirs. But otherwise you right. With some MP management they are a great fore killing normal enemies.
I don't know if this is correct or not, because i only just noticed it in this video, but when you said that Stitch can very slowly heal you over the course of time, by the looks of it you get a little bit of HP every time the summon bar goes down, which is probably why it seems so rare, cause whenever you use him, you continuously keep the summon bar up.

I fell the oposide. Summons are way better then Drive Forms. Less Damage but safer. Well when they are available. There are a lot of Data fights where they are not.
Try playing level 1 critical. I literally cannot imagine fighting Demyx without summons, or the creation monster in halloween town second visit. I remember my original critical run. I actually leveled up and I struggled so much but only got through since I didn’t die In one hit. But boy does Chicken little and peter pan save my life. The only form that is useful in level 1 is Limit form. No joke, I literally die using the other forms. Limit gives me invincibility. I like to use Ars Arcanium.
This ain't Final Fantasy bruh. One of the strongest points of KH is that it's very reminiscent of FF but only if you payed attention and tried to look real hard , because it's at the same time very different and original.

Stitch is the main reason I bought Kingdom Hearts 2 he was especially helpful during Demyx's boss fight after numerous attempts with just Donald and Goofy. I so hated Demyx's water forms but using Stitch twice during the battle he helped me pull through
I usually end up using Peter Pan for the cave of remembrance nobody fights, the auto life fail safe is nice but magnet magic into combos is also rewarded with mp orbs to replenish the heftier cost of magnet. If Tinkerbell's auto life is lost, then I am a bit more careful and use his limit to heal up with hp orbs and run it out a little quicker to resummon.
I used Stitch in my first playthrough of the original KH2 when i was doing the cups, as well as Peter Pan for his Neverland to rack up several points, but that was about it. I never used Chicken Little or Genie because the lack of a tutorial didnt provoke me in any way to want to use them. Now that Ive taken the time to look at speedruns i know the full extent of what ive missed and now use them pretty much all the time, abusing Stitch and Chicken Little whenever necessary.
Its amazing how terrible KH2 is when teaching any of its mechanics I don't know a single person who knew what ANY of the summons did when they played the game for the first time, and there was never even any reason to use them. One of the only things the game teaches is "press triangle when it appears on the screen to win", so when I summoned chicken little and I saw a big triangle "limit" button of course I pressed it only to be inmensively disappointed at how bad it was.
I found genie's wisdom form rather useful against enemies that couldn't be hurt by physical damage such as the Mad Ride (when its headlights turn on) and the Magic Phantom (when its in the air).

I've played through this game at least 13 times now, how tha fuck is it that I never knew about (almost) any of this?!?! Stitch use his stun ability more often when you're low on MP?! Dude, do you know how long I've wondered what determines that? All that time I spent in the arena... And tinker bell can resurrect you?!
First half of the game I used CL he made me practically invincible for farming. On crit some enemies like the cars 3 shot me in 2 seconds but once CL came on to the field my health literally stays on Max and the field is stunned for the 90%+ of the fights
I can not believe summons are this OP lmfao. Stich is crazy for level farming as he completely refills your MP all the time, and the damage you do fills the summon bar, so he can almost stay out the entire time you run through a world

Which is a perfect way to practice mastering the gambler reaction command what I mean is if you fail the reaction command while the summons are on the battlefield you wont go into dice and card form and it's a good way to practice the gambler reaction command and Master it so you can do the gambler reaction command without failing it when grinding drive orbs to level up Master form and refill the drive gauge and when grinding money as well as when doing the reaction command when fighting luxord
You forgot to mention that by using the right trigger on the controller, you are able to fly very high during Peter's limit. it's such a weird concept, but I like it anyways xD

The HP restoration seems to be linked to the summon gauge dropping by a number. Sora appears to get one HP when the summon gauge drops from 9 to 8 and then again dropping from 8 to 7, according to the clip at 6:56.
Pfff. D-links are so much better than summons. So useful. Especially when they replace your command deck for sub-par commands and also replacing your finisher. 2FM just sucks compared to BBS. That would be what I'd say if I was a BBS fanboy and actually thought it was a good game. 2FM is so much better and my favorite. :D

Is it known why you can't summon during Xigbar? Did the programmers just not want to let you summon in that fight, or does it cause some game breaking crash?
Jose Espinoza Nope, my assumption is they didn't want you to use Stitch to break the fight, because from my Randomizer run we learned Stitch can parry Xigbar's lasers, making the fight trivial. Either that or the game may not handle it, since that fight is known to crash sometimes

I liked Stitch the most as my summon, but during the Hades Cup run... he just never did much. I know it's RNG, but he went through multiple rounds.... just doing 1 or 2 attacks in total. I ended up having to switch to Peter Pan in order to get the necessary amount of orbs.
Wait, Sora strums his keyblade during the Stitch summon (and it works)? Seriously, those things get sillier and sillier every time. Anyways, I remember not liking summons in vanilla II due to just preferring drive forms and never knowing how useful they could be and hating to level them. The only one I would use was Genie because I really like him. After seeing how strong they were in a speedrun and with the much faster drive refill of Final Mix, I started using Chicken Little some and Stitch a lot. I would use Chicken Little more, but I really don't like his movie... I still haven't used Peter Pan in Final Mix, since I don't like cheesing bosses and find his limit to feel very...off (it just feels weird for me, no clue why). Still, Stitch is ridiculously good now that I actually know what he does and Genie is always fun to have around.

Is it known why you can't summon during Xigbar? Did the programmers just not want to let you summon in that fight, or does it cause some game breaking crash?
Jose Espinoza Nope, my assumption is they didn't want you to use Stitch to break the fight, because from my Randomizer run we learned Stitch can parry Xigbar's lasers, making the fight trivial. Either that or the game may not handle it, since that fight is known to crash sometimes

+Sofaris Ok I take it back. I have test it after I wright this total wrong comment I just use stich so often and fore some reason I never noticed that you can not use him aganst Xigbar. I was wrong
+Jose Espinoza The main reason is that Xigbar constantly changes the room layout during his fight, so it may have been too much for the programmers to readjust summon locations when he does this.

I liked Stitch the most as my summon, but during the Hades Cup run... he just never did much. I know it's RNG, but he went through multiple rounds.... just doing 1 or 2 attacks in total. I ended up having to switch to Peter Pan in order to get the necessary amount of orbs.
I used to fanboy using stitch and genie. Idk why tho lol
Wait, Sora strums his keyblade during the Stitch summon (and it works)? Seriously, those things get sillier and sillier every time. Anyways, I remember not liking summons in vanilla II due to just preferring drive forms and never knowing how useful they could be and hating to level them. The only one I would use was Genie because I really like him. After seeing how strong they were in a speedrun and with the much faster drive refill of Final Mix, I started using Chicken Little some and Stitch a lot. I would use Chicken Little more, but I really don't like his movie... I still haven't used Peter Pan in Final Mix, since I don't like cheesing bosses and find his limit to feel very...off (it just feels weird for me, no clue why). Still, Stitch is ridiculously good now that I actually know what he does and Genie is always fun to have around.
Something of note:
Chicken Little will also throw a Potion on you when you are low life.
Tested with the PC version of KH2.5.

I kinda wish they would have done more with Chicken little than just introduce him as a summon. Missed opportunity to expand on his story/world:/
