Not even going to mention: ADB ADC AAUI Newton Interconnect Remote Control for iPod mini-VGA mini-DVI DB-15 all of their SCSI and Serial connections ExpressCard I dont even think thats all of them

Originally developed by the Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA), ExpressCard is not remotely an Apple technology. It was an industry standard that Apple used for a brief blink in time

I believe they used the standard SCSI connector, at least it was the same as our workstations. The haptic engine is still there; it is used to provide vibrations for things like ringer notifications and "haptic touch" (3D/Force touch on X, XS). My sister still has her 2015 MacBook Pro. It’s lasted 6 years through college and graduate school, and has tons of ports, MagSafe, and the glowing logo. That was the height of MacBook
Not one of my Apple devices is from after 2010. Apple has become a fashion company and Jony Ive removed as many ports as he could so he could rub the smooth surfaces and get a woody.
I understand the simplicity aspect of many of Apple's decisions, however in reality, they've often made the situation worse. For instance, those who bought a phone with a Lightning port and owned 30-pin accessories now had to buy an adapter, adding another easy-to-lose accessory within the chain, or be forced to buy all new accessories with native Lightning connections (all of which now do not work with the new iPad Pro, which uses USB-C). An even better example of this is the Macbook Pro with USB-C connectors. I can't recall how many Apple users I've talked to who were thinking about upgrading or even just casually mentioning how they looked at the new Macbook Pros and disliked so many things about them. Aside from the absolutely awful keyboard, the main thing they complained about was lack of ports. Now, obviously you can use many devices with a single Thunderbolt 3 port, but almost all of them require some sort of dongle to make it work, especially if you're talking about connecting multiple things to a single port. For most Mac users I've talked to, the insanely small number of ports completely rules out the 13" MBP for them, and even the 15" which gets double the ports is still a point of contention. There's a few things that Apple either failed to consider or didn't care about forcing upon their customers. MY primary gripe is the fact that Magsafe was a great connection type; while the adapters themselves were extremely poorly engineered and prone to failure, the connection itself is ingenious in that it makes connection to the charger almost idiot-proof (almost), while also providing an extremely convenient safety factor for what is such a common problem with laptops in general. I wouldn't even mind the USB-C only connectors had they just included the Magsafe on top of that. USB-C connectors do not elegantly break away when you trip over the cord. Magsafe was a huge advantage for Apple and doing away with it was a terrible mistake. Second, the thing that most other people seemed to complain about were the ports and/or the lack thereof. While plenty of dongles exist that provide all sorts of ports in one solution, a lot of potential buyers don't seem to be aware of them and are afraid that they cannot plug in more than 4 things, including the power cable. They also don't know how they're going to plug in the stuff they already use, like USB drives and SD cards. Even after telling them about the various dongles out there, they're immediately put off by the fact that, not only do they have to buy extra dongles for each type of thing they want to use, but they also have to carry them around, keep track of them, and plug them in when they want to use something. I mentioned the multi-port dongles previously, and while some of them are slick and quick complete, I wouldn't want to have to use that kind of thing on anything other than a laptop that simply sits at a desk and never moves. And I already have this thing that does a better job of that, called a desktop computer. I really think that Tim Cook is running Apple's products, if not the company itself, into the ground by chasing after a few select pieces of Steve Jobs' design aesthetics without truly considering the functional impact that their design decisions are having. Average Mac users don't like these changes, they have been using the same stuff for years and want to be able to upgrade their machines without having to totally change the way they use their computer. Jobs had great foresight and slowly removed legacy ports just before they were starting to become obsolete. Tim Cook is removing usable features that still have immense, everyday value to most users that aren't even remotely obsolete solely in the name of form over function. Professional users may not care so much (though if I were a professional I certainly wouldn't choose to have an awful keyboard just to make the laptop a millimeter thinner), but the average user is starting to turn away from these compromised products.
I understand the simplicity and making it easier but at the same time they made it harder due to now needing an adapter. Been a loyal Mac user for years and still have my 2012 MacBook Pro as my main laptop but I’m starting to look for a replacement and can’t see myself getting another MacBook with the need for adapters and no SSD upgradability
I do agree with removing the 3,5mm jack, I have used Bluetooth headphones on my phone ever since Bluetooth 2.1. Removing the MagSafe port though, was rubbish.
I would like to see something else other than the history of ------ even though I like the series and it should go on maybe you could talk about the situation of Apple right now or some type of commentary. I don't really expect my comment to be noticed but that's all nice video
Macsafe port? 8+ years ago, the connector caught fire while connected to the MacBook Pro... The transformer occasionally did not power off when the port is disconnected...That caused the fire which also killed the MacBook Pro...
Iphone 7: headphone jack is gone Iphone X: home button is gone Iphone 12: off and on button is gone iPhone 15: volume buttons are gone iPhone XX: *_I P H O N E I S G O N E_*
This is exactly why I still use a 2011 MacBook Pro alongside my main Mac and gaming rig. I was tired of being tied to my desktops for everything, but I didn't wanna go overboard on a laptop that would only be used occasionally (despite the fact I use the MacBook more than both now lol). I really love having the variety of ports, paired with a great OS. I've upgraded the mac to 12GB of ram, and threw an SSD in it, and its snappy and responsive for being 11 years old. I also really love this laptop just for MagSafe as well!

iTechyounot I’ve bought apple products before (iPhone 6s, iPhone 4, iPad 2) but they are such a scummy company now. They’ve always been that way but it’s gotten much worse in the past few years.
Apple Desktop Bus is a bit-serial computer bus connecting low-speed devices to computers. It was introduced on the Apple IIGS in 1986 as a way to support low-cost devices like keyboards and mice, allowing them to be connected together in a daisy chain without the need for hubs or other devices. ADB was quickly introduced on later Macintosh models, and also found use on computers from NeXT, and saw some other 3rd party use as well. ADB was rapidly replaced by USB as that system became popular in the late 1990s; the last external ADB port on an Apple product was in 1999, though it remained as an internal-only bus on some Mac models into the 2000s.
@@raspberry144mb3 NO apple had their own kind of like PS/2 Connector it was called Apple Device port Or ADP or ADB. it was a proprietary Device interface on early macs for their keyboards and mice used to have them on the sides of macintosh keyboards
I tested out 3.5 mm adaptor to lightning doesn’t sound as good not as much details everything sounds more compressed for example a band sounds like they’re close together almost squished together in comparison to normal headphone jacks on older Apple products
When Apple removed MagSafe, a proprietary connector from their MacBooks in favour of USB C, an industry standard connector many people were outraged. And yet people are criticising Apple for still keeping the proprietary Lightning port instead of switching to the industry standard USB C. Such hypocrites they are! 😠😡
but at the time it wasnt as huge as lack of headphone jack because everyone knew that optical disks were more useful, especially with the recordable ones. People only needed floppies around 2000 for specific things such as doing taxes here for some reason. What really had some controversy, but is not a por connection is the end of Flash support, which was being widely used at the time.

I meant ADB, whoops!
@Xavier Tridento Firewire is not apple proprietary.
the fact that this video needs to exist shows everything
According to Apple's logic, it doesn't make sense that the iPhone X/XR/XS don't include de 3.5mm jack, since they removed the home button with the haptic engine
Facu AF they did it to sell their earpods
@@010dx010 that what he is saying.
The haptic engine is still there; it is used to provide vibrations for things like ringer notifications and "haptic touch" (3D/Force touch on X, XS). Also, Apple would never add something back after they have removed it *cough cough the headphone jack* and also because *Apple is Apple, what did you expect?*
Facu AF they removed it to make it more water proof
Do you really think the haptic engine was just for the home button ? It is still in there. 3D touch and the iPhone XR haptic force feedback’s use it.
The very near future (uptoo ~2 years):
iPhone - no ports
AirPods - no ports
Macs - USB C only (no aux)
iPad USB C and Qi
iPod touch discontinued (LOL)
krik not even funny
DragonTechRoyale4k idk abt 2 years but it’s realistic if they switch entirely to wireless charging
Rogelio Ramos believe me, like the headphone jake the charging connector will be *gone* sooner than everyone think
Whats up with lightning they are much better and they say usb c is evrywhere i never saw one in person and in my class theres mire lightning then usb c users
iPod Will still be sold cause apple needs to swindle little kids into buying them
7:55 - not true an android phone beat apple and removed the headphone jack first. Then everyone accused apple of copying even though it was rumored to be removing it almost 8months in advance
And it was an oppo that first removed it
Vlad Volkov Nobody cares about that tho. Tons of company wouldn’t have removed it if it wasn’t for Apple, just like the notch.
It was leaked months before the release and then oppo made a phone with no headphone jack based of the leaks

My sister still has her 2015 MacBook Pro. It’s lasted 6 years through college and graduate school, and has tons of ports, MagSafe, and the glowing logo. That was the height of MacBook
Oh, the good old days, when you didn’t need a dongle for everything
Do history of Apple retail employees!! I’ve been waiting for that one!
Gary Coleman history of me buying too many Apple products
Did this man really just called the taptic engine the feedback engine
Next thing we'll see apple remove the headphone jack from the MacBook Pro. God. That's a dark future, but I can kinda see it take shape soon...
I’m happy that they use the Lightning Connector because it’s different from other phones and their chargers
Man I'm gonna miss MagSafe when I upgrade next year :(
Do you see a floating sandwich? Surface laptops can charge with usb c and a magnetic charger if you really like it!

I do agree with removing the 3,5mm jack, I have used Bluetooth headphones on my phone ever since Bluetooth 2.1. Removing the MagSafe port though, was rubbish.
not really. MagSafe is not consistent at all
The lightning port click combined with the iOS 6 charging sound was lovely, it really sucks it only existed for a year
I would like to see something else other than the history of ------ even though I like the series and it should go on maybe you could talk about the situation of Apple right now or some type of commentary. I don't really expect my comment to be noticed but that's all nice video
Macsafe port? 8+ years ago, the connector caught fire while connected to the MacBook Pro... The transformer occasionally did not power off when the port is disconnected...That caused the fire which also killed the MacBook Pro...
I got an ad for a MacBook Hyperdrive while watching this LMAO
Iphone 7: headphone jack is gone
Iphone X: home button is gone
Iphone 12: off and on button is gone
iPhone 15: volume buttons are gone

Magsafe is such an ingenious connector. It's a shame they removed it
Do an Apple headphones video( earpods and their case)

Steve jobs: PUT EVERY AVAILABLE PORT AT THE MOMENT
Tim Cook: do we need chargering port?
Apple says they are all about wireless but all they do is remove essential ports and sell even more dongles which add guess what MORE CABLE
if they remove the ports then they can’t sell dongles lmao, they’ll just have to buy airpods and a wireless charging pad
It’s nice we all get thunderbolt now because it’s genuinely game changing
Every other phone using USBC chargers: Why can't you just be normal
Apple: Autistic screeching
but if you do that on a modern MacBook it will brick itself
This is exactly why I still use a 2011 MacBook Pro alongside my main Mac and gaming rig. I was tired of being tied to my desktops for everything, but I didn't wanna go overboard on a laptop that would only be used occasionally (despite the fact I use the MacBook more than both now lol). I really love having the variety of ports, paired with a great OS. I've upgraded the mac to 12GB of ram, and threw an SSD in it, and its snappy and responsive for being 11 years old. I also really love this laptop just for MagSafe as well!
I like the history lesson but you're clearly a fan boy.
How is he a fanboy? All he did was make a video on Apple device ports
How can't you be a fanboy to such a great company, unless your like some old person who doesn't care about computers..

I think apple didn’t do a clever thing removing all ports. If I had to buy a laptop I would never buy a mac.
They did a sensible thing by removing the ports. Do you know what is the best selling Apple product is Apple Dongles.
Usb c is the only port we need

Apple Desktop Bus is a bit-serial computer bus connecting low-speed devices to computers. It was introduced on the Apple IIGS in 1986 as a way to support low-cost devices like keyboards and mice, allowing them to be connected together in a daisy chain without the need for hubs or other devices. ADB was quickly introduced on later Macintosh models, and also found use on computers from NeXT, and saw some other 3rd party use as well. ADB was rapidly replaced by USB as that system became popular in the late 1990s; the last external ADB port on an Apple product was in 1999, though it remained as an internal-only bus on some Mac models into the 2000s.

apple is evolving just backwards
Apples proprietary ports are a mess
They are fuck boi of the proprietary-ports.
Wow you didn‘t even talk about ADB, ADC or all the others.
Tobias Timpe keeping it simple for the younger viewers lol
"All the others"
Name one.
I kept my old 2011 macBookPro because of this btw for some reason it’s not slow
Simplicity? I call BS. When you need dongles for everything how is that simple.
simplicity from a design viewpoint
Removing ports isn't "simplicity" it's "saving money in manufacturing on the expense of usability"
You forgot the Apple display connector and many others.
Also, there was controversy over the iMac G3’s lack of floppy drive over the CD-ROM drive.
but at the time it wasnt as huge as lack of headphone jack because everyone knew that optical disks were more useful, especially with the recordable ones. People only needed floppies around 2000 for specific things such as doing taxes here for some reason.
What really had some controversy, but is not a por connection is the end of Flash support, which was being widely used at the time.
@@lordeilluminati but they had a very good reason for that. And they were right.
If you plug in two USB-C chargers in a MacBook Pro, does it charge faster?
The moto was the first phone to not have a headphone jack not the iPhone 7.
