... and I thought the "i" meant "intelligent", like the "intelligent phone" or the"intelligent mac" or the "intelligent pad" ... Guess I was wrong but would have made more sense.
This video was very helpful, great job. I was an android user for so many years, but when I switched to Apple, I have been so passionate about everything that Apple does. I would really hate to see the " i " going away, but unfortunately companies out there are all trying to copy instead of bringing new ideas.
Thanks for this video. I was around for the original iMac (long before that, actually) and understood its primary indication, but I've wondered about how it applied in the case of so many of their other products.
Although the United States has one Office in charge of registering both patents and trademarks (USPTO), they are NOT one and the same thing. It's impossible to patent a name. Names are trademarked. Inventions are patented. Brand names and logos are trademarked. One cannot patent a mark. The repeated use in this video of the word "patent" to refer to registering a "trademark" is quite incorrect.
Patents, trademarks, and copyrights are the 3 types of IP. As you said, patents are for inventions and technologies, trademarks are for names/brands. Copyright is for creative works like books or pictures.
I always thought the "i" prefix represented a person-the dot is the head and the line the body-to symbolize Apple's philosophy of putting people first _before_ the product.
Woooooo hooooo, great video man.... the letter “i” will never let out off Apple Inc it will stay with the company forever... it’s one of the way of Apple identity...
I kinda have a theory about why they didn't call it iWatch -maybe they didn't want people to subliminy think about invasion of privacy and servailance (Sorry for my spelling lol)
@@ArsenalTheProtogen so both the changes from the “i” to “apple” were from legal issues. So we can be 90% sure apple wouldn’t just remove the i for no reason
ITV is the name of a UK television channel, its broadcaster and the production company ITV Studios. Shame also that you didn’t mention the UK’s top free broadcasting “catch-up” Service, the BBC iPlayer. 😀
It seems he has finish to introduce all the Apple major product, I do not know how he is going to do next, Probably do history of Apple founders and CEOs.
felipe367 they used to be a cellphone provider in New Zealand but they changed their name to spark in 2013 I see why because on a phone having telecom nz in the status bar took up quite a lot of space
Thank you for the very informative and well presented video with the Apple "I" explanation! [I am sorry, but I cannot stop my auto-correct from capitalizing the "I"! UGH!] Anyway, I was also going to mention that Apple recently removed the "I" from iBooks, but I see that someone else has previously mentioned it. I appreciate the depth that you went into with this video, to the extent of even finding the screen captures of the keynote slide wherein the "I" nomenclature references were given, e.g., Internet, Inspire, etc. Thanks again! ~Antonio
tbh tim cook wouldve made something up like "the i means that it is accustomed to *YOU.* you are the *I* in your phone, your ipad, any of your devices. you are the I. you are our customer. its YOUR device..." uh.
I know it’s not Apple. But you should do a video on the iHome brand and other “I” product brands. Cause honestly it’s enough of a correlation between Apple and those brands I don’t think anyone would mind. And I would be really interested
fun fact: the iwatch crowdfunding smartwatch failed earning 1000$ of the proposed 100k$ for crowdfunding so apple is safe to rename the apple watch to iwatch
Great vid, but you jumped from iMac to iPod... You say the reason for iPod was branding because there was also iMovie, iBook and iTunes, but you didn't explain those ones. Being part of the core of iProducts, I would have loved to hear that part. Anyway, really liking your channel. Keep it up!
I work in a large retailer in the electronics department and it is surprising how many people think that iHome products are made by Apple because of the "i" branding. Even having a member argue with me that iHome speakers do not work with Android because it is "an Apple product and therefore only works with Apple stuff!" only believing me once I had shown them the "Works with Andriod" badge on the back of the box.
Apple Phone, Apple Pad, Apple Pod, Apple OS, Apple Mac, Apple Tunes, Apple Life, Apple Work, Apple Photo, Apple Movie, Apple Message, Apple Cloud. iWatch, iPay, iMusic, iTV
One mistake (in my opinion) Apple made was not bragging about the ease of using their ilife package in the OS.That was why I bought a Mac laptop when it came out. I bought it so u could make DVDs from videotape.I bought an analog to digital converter so I could do this. What I liked is it worked without any plugins or add-on. I just hit play on my VCR and it was like magic.I tried it with a crappy Wintel PC and it just wouldn't work. It started bossing me like a Borg with steps to make it work. And the Wintel OS had nothing like ilife built in the OS.
Ever noticed how a lot of products related to music apple brought out is ends with pod: for example: ipod, earpods, homepod and airpods

Wenceslao Futanaki omfg lol.😂, will Apple start making electronic sex toys that you can call with?
Its AquaGamer well uhhh.. your phone already has a built in vibrator. Maybe if your creative enough you could....

Apple started dropping the i in their software too. iBooks is no more is now just Apple Books.
...and their new app called Apple News (I thought it was iNews) that was pre-installed on macOS mojave
They have changed it back and forth and now it’s iBooks

Because it's not just about "i" by itself, it's explaining Apple's history and their connection to the letter with branding.
