Great to watch your reactions to a great Australian series. I can't remember if I've recommended this movie, but The "Proposition" With Guy Pierce starring and written and composed by the one and only Nick Cave is truly an epic tale of family bonds set in the outback of Australia.
People didn’t like the ending… I thought it was perfect… The fact he didn’t kill Freedy felt like an attempt at ending his lifetime in a dirty profession on a “positive” note. Idk… good series. 👍
I think also Ray felt like he didn't need to kill Freddy. Why stain his hands and conscious when Freddy is a dead man from all the debts he's got anyway. By that point Ray is out of the game and Freddy and worth getting back in
Tissues for Dave, definitely needed them myself for the first time watching, as i loved the bloke. Scott Ryan has gone on record that he has had enough of playing Ray, and that this felt like this was enough for him. However, with the overwhelming acclaim the series has garnered, we can hold out a bit of hope for a forth season. Alex is still out there, Freddy has some making up to do...not that i think he's ever going to be forgiven. The Magician is the same character, almost 20 years younger. This show was an absolute gem, i hope Australian cinema takes notes and delivers some more bangers like this. Growing up in Sydney, myself makes it that much more enjoyable for me. I've literally been to almost every place featured in this show, it's nice to see my city in a show of this caliber. Run.
Liked the Dave character, he was a "lovable rogue" type. Never realised until recently that he was in the third "Riddick" film with Vin Diesel, playing "Daddy Johns" the father of the original bounty hunter killed in "Pitch Black" whilst bringing Riddick in.
That final glance at the camera just encapsulates the whole concept of old age and treachery. He found it comical that these kids were even attempting this with him. Ray is a voice for a generation that deals with this on the daily 😅
Chrissie it's been so fun watching this with you and I'm so happy you enjoyed the music!!! Scott Ryan definitely grew & aged perfectly into this character from The Magician days, I'd love to know what you think!!! Cheers!

I tell you what was interesting.. at the start of this reaction series, you questioned the need for violence... we agreed there is good violence. I smiled at your reaction today, because when Ray was trapped in the abandoned cabin, you did two things.. 1. Are there any weapons or chemicals Ray can use, 2. When the guy was set on fire, your face lit up & looked happy!! 👍
Thanks Chrissie, the series has been brilliant; even more so with your top notch commentary. Perfect ending with Ray grinning at the two guys who are about to realise they've just made a huge mistake - probably the worst mistake of their lives in fact.
I may have all this wrong but recall via interviews that Scott Ryan was actually a cab driver in Echuca for 10 years and something like the last scene happened to him IRL. He thought his dream of seeing the series made was dead and so went and got a ‘real job’ out in the bush driving cabs. The last scene was one of the things that went down when he was on the job. Absolutely crazy to have it woven into the series like that.

This has become one of my absolutely favorite series, right along with The Wire, Deadwood, and Ted Lasso (lol..!). And I have rewatched it many times. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed watching it through your (never having seen it before) eyes. Your reactions to its various plot elements and twists were truthful and invigorating, and reminded me of those I’d had upon seeing it initially. My takeaways included that Ray, although a genius in his field, still ended up in the only place he realistically could: Victorious yet ‘dangerously alone’. He is, without doubt, one of my favorite anti heroes, right along with Al Swearingen of Deadwood, and Marlo Stansfield of The Wire. Thx Chrissie. Your commentary and commitment to the series were wonderful. t.
I LOVE how this show portrays cover and concealment. I can't think of a single other show that shows how your car door is gonna do fuck all against most bullets like this one does.
Couple of recommendations of Aussie series for you if you're up for it. Not crime series, just something different: "Colin from Accounts", a quirky rom com written by a real life husband and wife. Very funny. also "The Newsreader" about Australian news in the 80s and the weird cast of characters trying to make their way in Australian news at that time. A couple of notes about "Mr Inbetween." A lot of the situations actually happened to him. The story about the teacher berating and bullying him for "dragging his feet" was real, as is the very last situation, which actually happened to him while driving cabs in Echuca.
Great ending. Leaves you thinking who was in trouble! They were put up to it by the bike gang. The guy in the back 'a bit of this, a bit of that' struck me as being a young Ray.
Thanks for watching this. It introduced me to your channel and it's been a fun ride. Your reactions are very entertaining and it's difficult to say that about many other channels.
That subtle breaking of the fourth wall and AWOLNATION's Run...Awesome way to end the series! Such a shame we haven't seen more from Scott Ryan in recent times!
Definitely one of the best endings I've seen of a tv show and that song choice over 'Run' is so perfect. I really wish they had continued on with another season or 2.
I linked the two guys at the end that way towards Ray for his mate in the farm house because he was the Pres of the bike gang after old mate disappeared. Chrissie, this has been such a blast watching along with you and gauging your reactions throughout with what I felt when watching Mr Inbetween first time around. The ending is so understated but so rewarding at the same time, the maniacal look to camera is brilliant - I'm amazed Mr Inbetween hasn't got a larger following. Still can't work out the sex tape filming service story line though? Was this originally a larger story piece but got edited down in the final cut? Anyway love watching along with you, cant wait for the next reaction. Would you ever consider TV series or music video reactions?

Really enjoyed the series/reactions. It wrapped up really well, for an action/thriller it was really nicely understated, the final scenes with Brittany, Gary and Freddy would have probably been really overblown/milked in lesser hands, especially the scene with Ray and Freddy. Also, kinda hoping I see Ryan turn up in - anything really, great actor, but seems to have disappeared??? :/ 10/10 Series, glad you switched me on to it. What's next?

For me the ending was great because you could draw your own conclusions on the outcome. I've always felt those 2 guys were sent by Freddy to finish Ray off. Why else would Ray have left Freddy's house that night without killing him? Ray's eventual revenge would be a small glimmer of hope that the show returns at some point.

@@shaunclubberlang2887 I actually come here to enjoy the content, not to get into an argument with someone I have never met. I know Chrissie is Canadian, hence the comment about North American. Then I went on to talk about the quality of the show, and was comparing to many of those made in the USA - I was referencing "American" producers and audiences in that comment. I am not sure exactly what I need to learn, I am quite aware that Canadians and those from the USA are different.
Anyway, have a good day, cheers.
@@666Wizardsleeve I was just commenting on the gulf between the attitudes of Canadians and US folk. It's comparing apples and oranges to say "North American content producers" in my view.
enjoyed watching your reactions, glad ya got to enjoy a piece of aussie tv.
My takeaways included that Ray, although a genius in his field, still ended up in the only place he realistically could:
Victorious yet ‘dangerously alone’.
He is, without doubt, one of my favorite anti heroes, right along with Al Swearingen of Deadwood, and Marlo Stansfield of The Wire.
Thx Chrissie. Your commentary and commitment to the series were wonderful.
t.
Hell of a ride.
Well said Poss
That's so kind, thank you!!
Totally agree. It was THE perfect song the go with that scene and end the show on 💯
I linked the two guys at the end that way towards Ray for his mate in the farm house because he was the Pres of the bike gang after old mate disappeared. Glad you enjoyed this show, its definitely one of the best written Aussie shows (Tried to avoid spoilers for anyone that reads comments before watching)
The dimmies in this episode are steamed and the ones in previous episodes are fried. I prefer fried
Nah. They were dumplings, not steamed dimmies.
Thanks again for watching this awesome show Chrissie, i loved your reaction to each episode. I don't know if westerns are your thing, but a mini series called " Lonesome Dove " starring Robert Duval.. I loved it and I'm sure you would as well . 😊
It was a very satisfying ending to the series. I was hoping for more but I think they wrapped it up well.
Much love Chrissie, thanks for your channel....going to miss you doing reactions to this series.....I actually first saw you doing the once were warriors reaction .I saw this film in nz when I was 17.....your raw emotion is so powerful....thanks Chrissie......it's weird when I first saw you it's like I've meet you somewhere before.....interesting aye
Huge fan of this series, enjoy watching other people's reactions to it, and I must say, you're a delight to waste time with!
I hear Scott Ryan recently sold a big script to Hollywood, let's hope it's as great
That's exciting! I'll watch anything he's associated with.
I'd always thought he died at the end ... but then it struck me ... they don't stand a chance, do they? They're already dead
You're the special someone reactor that makes me want to give it
Kes Kes Kes.
Be the 1st, be the best
Kes Kes Kes
Now! Let's make journey to peaky blinders or banshee. I sure you gonna enjoy it!
Love your reaction❤
Glad you liked the ending Chrissie.😊
Chrissie thank you very much for watching Mr Inbetween. It is a show that i love and was nice to watch it again with someone. Im an Aussie guy who literally has zero friends left to even have a conversation with they all died or disapeered or went to jail. Life is so lonely i can't even share a tv show with someone cause there is no one. So it has meant so much to me to be able to watch the show again with someone really awesome and cool. even if its just on youtube. Thank you Chrissie you made my days a little brighter when you released a new video. May i suggest next trying the Australian crime series Underbelly next. Each season is a dfferent story
Thanks for sharing, Dave. I'm sorry to hear you're struggling at the moment 🤍 I remembered discovering reaction channels during lockdown and it really helped me as well! I'm glad we could enjoy this show together :) Take care 🤗
Just binge watched all these and subscribed:. Nice job 🎉
Thank you!!
Amazing series, great ending with fantastic music.
We need more seasons
This show tells me that we have to learn how to take care of ourselves against evil people outside. No resting no peace.
Thanks for picking this kind of rare jewel like that. Maybe you might check Shogun and Chernobyl later.
Take care lady.
Driving a taxi is a nod to Scott Ryan's years driving a cab when he couldn't get work as an actor and no one would buy this show's concept.
Ur reaction to the shotgun scene...priceless !!
That Wahlberg shooter solitude hair growth though 👹
I know how you feel. I loved how it ended but was devastated it was all over.
Run!
The magician returns.
Probably the best ending to any series ever! It is still open ended but I felt as though they couldn't really continue even if they wanted to as Ray broke the fourth wall. I'm looking forward to your thoughts on The Magician.
Thanks for sharing.
Hope see you enjoy more Australian content. We make some good stuff.
Again, Animal Kingdom movie and series It's a Date highly recommend
Oh and He Died With a Felafel in His Hand is a favourite also.
We have dumpling here too , the dimmie he was eating was a home made steamed dimmie , there come all shapes an sizes hahaha fried and steamed , cheaps factory made or yummy home made
Wouldn't you love to get a taxi with Ray Shoestring behind the wheel ? Aussie T.V at it's best 🦘🦘🦘
Most older Aussies sang a completely different version of 'Waltzing Matilda'. The drunk uncle version.
😅
Series was a lot of fun, thanks Chrissie, An oldy but a goody that you might enjoy if you havent seen it is The Following with Kevin Bacon. So underrated that series I feel.
Ray fucked them up soo soo bad, those two would off screamed terribly in that small car space as he's viciously "dealing" with them! The song choice for the ending scene is just awesome pure gold!!
It's a shame that there won't be any more of Ray for us to watch but it's such a great show and it's just an absolutely perfect ending.
Thank you for letting us share your journey with this fantastic series. You're really a pleasure to spend time with.
PS. Has anybody suggested that you watch Severance yet? That and Mr Inbetween have been my faves of recent years.
Severance is one of my favourite shows!
@@chrissiereacts ah, fantastic! Roll on season 2.
I like matt nable in this. I liked him playing the role of Mark standen
such an amazing ending
im gonna miss watching this with you i wish there was more
Great show,Soprano vibes.Hope you enjoyed it.😂😂😂😉⏰
Does not need a fourth season, we had three and they we're as great as could be and with an ending that did not leave him dead.
Less is more. 😃
This was a great watch through btw.
It's better for people to be saying 'why is it finishing?' than 'why isn't it?'.
Thank you, love it 👍🦘👋
You might also enjoy a series called No Activity. Be sure to grab the Aussie (original) version, though.
love ya work a shame its over looking forward to more the magician is great
The dude he's eating dimmys with plays Charles Manson in Tarintinos Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
He's also Dewey Crowe in Justified. He does a redneck Kentucky accent so well that Americans didn't believe he was an Aussie.
I love how you know what a "root" is
Really enjoyed the series/reactions.
10/10 Series, glad you switched me on to it. What's next?
the last scene was ice cream and wing mirror all over again
perfect end to an almost perfect series
I subbed your channel for this show. Was a great run. Don’t know what you’re into watching next but I highly recommend The Expanse. A great show for reactions. Would love to see you go through that one. The women in it particularly are fucking badass and they earn that rating. So good. You’ll latch on to a few of them as they’re some of the best characters ever written imo. Oh and Amos in the show and the magician would be great mates in the same universe.
For me the ending was great because you could draw your own conclusions on the outcome.
I've always felt those 2 guys were sent by Freddy to finish Ray off. Why else would Ray have left Freddy's house that night without killing him? Ray's eventual revenge would be a small glimmer of hope that the show returns at some point.
always saw the look at the end as:
looks at the first guy, he doesnt know
looks at the 2nd guy, he also doesnt know
smile comes full force as he looks as the audience, cause we know
Yes!!! It's perfection.
