GOOD MORNING MY CRAZY ROCK PEOPLE! A few quick things: - The Giveaway has been reached and will be posted in the next week or two, so keep your eyes peeled. - I am in the process of re-branding.... that's right, Agate Angler is going to have a logo. Stay tuned, there is going to be a special announcement related to this. - Last and not least - Who can name all of the items that were shown in the into to the video (2 Flowers, One Feather) - What flowers are they and what bird did the feather come from?
I'm guessing the pink flower is a Bitterroot, and the feather is from a turkey! I don't know what the purple flowers are, but I should because I see them all over.
Great rock hunt! I think the pink flower is the Bitterroot, the Montana state flower. The purple flower looks like Lupine, and the feather looks like it came from a wild turkey.
I KNOW!!!! That happened so much faster than anticipated.... the primary giveaway item is being shipped my way as we speak. Should have it running within the next week or so.
What a nice haul. Beautiful area to hunt. And we could all use the extra exercise. LOL, And, I think it's great that you take the kids out on your adventures too.
You got that right! Hiking for agates is one of my favorite activities actually. They love coming. I just want them to learn to appreciate being outside and learn how to make their own fun.
Ive watched a few other rock hounds on you tube, but i always come back to you more then anyone. Just beautiful scenery and so many different rocks and petrified wood. Some day i would love to make it to Montana, but for now i will see it through your eyes. You get so excited, but are so down to earth. Thank you for your videos.
hello..i love birds, ilove mountains..love hills and rivers..the sea.. love dogs and cats..love the trees..haha love stones. everything ..just love them all..but most specially i love watchig your video..hehehe thank you for letting me see all of this beautifil creations..good luck and god bless always.
❤This was a beautifully done video and it was so exciting to see the treasures you found. Thank you, personally a great way to unwind from our troubles.
Yeah it is the same question I ask myself! I know that the Yellowstone River Gravel deposit extends for many miles beyond the boundary of the river itself and I have found source material high in the mountains closer to Yellowstone Park, but it is incredible to hunt it for yourself.
So cool, I love on the central cal coast. I only have found coastal agates. It would seem odd to find just a agate laying in the dirt to me. Can't wait . We got good ones out here . Colors and all sizes. Good job .
I really enjoyed your rock hunt! I can't do it anymore so your video brought me to a beautiful place. Thank you for sharing. For people like me it's so gratifying!!❤❤❤
Awwww!!!! I used to have a dog named kip too, I miss that boy!! Beautiful finds!!! We find some in Wyoming that are very similar to what you find there
Thank you so much for the beautiful video! Reminds me of growing up in Wyoming rockhounding with my family. The landscape is very similar. I am now of an age where I still enjoy finding beautiful rocks but I would rather catch and release. To hard to tote back to the car.
Wow you found some great stuff. Wish we could have met up this weekend. I am in Billings and have been since Friday. I met up with Tomcat Josh, Theo, and Travis yesterday and we went to Bear Canyon. Today Josh and I met up with Katydid and went hinting with her. It has been a complete blast for this Kentucky boy. I got some of everything I wanted to find. Videos to come from us all.
@@AgateAngler well it was fun. The climb up and down for me wasn’t but I had fun digging. Don’t know if I found anything good digging but I found some decent fortification agates on the way out. Lol.
Here in maine we have a beautiful beach called jasper beach. It's downeast about 2 hours away from home. It's a all rock coastal beach. The rocks have tumbled for ever and are so smooth. We went a couple weeks ago and I found a real agate. I sat there on a hill of rocks and because I was a distance from the water I licked it. I was so excited.
You got some good finds Alex, cutters and tumblers. It's cool that you mentioned the Pryor Mountains. I go there to the wild horse range to photograph the horses and find shell fossils at the 8500 foot level. It't mostly limestone up there, part of the Morrison Formation. Where are you hunting in the Pryors? I know there are some amazing Dryhead agates that come from one part but it is not public.
There's a place up the Gallatin Canyon that is a forest of petrified wood, it is against the law to take any of it though. Great finds!! You almost sound like a fisherman, "You know there are big ones out here, but it's still fun to fish."
I know people find similar material on the gallatin, especially close to three forks. I am a fisherman, there is definitely a similarity between these activities.
No, I am generally speaking not afraid of the wildlife. For one thing, there are not very many 'dangerous' animals in this location. Black bears are not aggressive as long as you use your brain and keep your distance. You have to maintain a healthy respect for nature and be aware of your surroundings, but there is not anything to fear.
@@AgateAngler My 'guess' would be a wild turkey. A 'google' photo search of the feather may prove fruitful. LOVE the channel! If I could figure out a payment method I'd snatch a batch of tumbled from you?
Just think about how violent the river is at high water then add 700 feet of rushing water to that we are lucky that all the gates didn't get pulverized to sand a million years ago.
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have some rocks that are magnetic.vtheu look like silk pitch black moon rocks. They have holes as if it held something. I thought meteorites but may be lodestone or magnetite. I also have a rock that is almost in square shape. It is red and black like a black widow. Beautiful but when. I magnify it I see it has a bright green. Like slimmer from ghostbusters. It is like a vein. I looked up it may be a breccia or red jasper.

The pink ones are cactus then there's bluebonnets no clue what bird the feather belongs to,but it cool

I am so thankful to hear that. Thanks for watching and even more thanks for coming along on the adventure.
What a beautiful place to be...let alone to be rockhounding...Wow! Thank you for sharing!
What a unique hunt!
What a fun hunt! The feather looked like from a hawk and the flowers looked like a blue bonnet and an Indian paint brush.
Lupine and bitterroot were the flowers 😉
Wonderful scenery Wonderful rocks Thank you
So glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.

some pretty finds today.👍🇺🇸
That is awesome. Live in Butte. I tumblers shine and wire wrapping them.
Great finds! Beautiful out there! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed the hunt! Thanks for commenting
That area would be a great picnic area. Sustenance for the hunt!
Oh we definitely had several picnics!
Hi! Kip,glad to see you took your people for a walk 🤣🤣
He keeps me in line! Haha
Thats so awesome the alluvial gravels are 700 feet above the river, what a massive flood/erosion would cause that! Super nice hill finds! 🎉

Me! I was going to send a picture of my collection....red rock and turquoise!
The pet. wood looks so much like Fresh wood, not millions of years old.. Yhanks for Sharing the Agates.. They really are clear..
I always have the same thought. Thanks so much for watching.
The hot petrified wood was shaped sort of like my state of Oklahoma. Fun to watch.
Kips looks like he likes the views up there!
Funny enough he got tired and went back to our campsite after hanging out for the first 20-30 minutes.
I really enjoyed your rock hunt! I can't do it anymore so your video brought me to a beautiful place. Thank you for sharing. For people like me it's so gratifying!!❤❤❤

Bitter root, tooth moss(?), lupine
Turkey feather

Finding an agate brings such euphoria. I have a lot of family in Maine so I need to go out there and visit sometime.

How is kip is he good I well like to know 😊
تکه چاسپر دورنگ سفید و سماقی......👌👌😍 بسیار زیبا و چشمگیر است.👍👍❤❤

Lots of amazing finds! Do you think you'll tumble and polish any of the smaller ones?
Cool dude!
Thanks for the visit
11:47 the agate almost looked like it could have been an iris agate. Am I just being hopeful for you or could that be a possibility?
I think it may very well be an iris agate. Will look into cutting it.
Are you not affraid of the bear encounters? Or any other animals ?
No, I am generally speaking not afraid of the wildlife. For one thing, there are not very many 'dangerous' animals in this location. Mudfossil University.
You found an Iris Agate
Fabulous 'hunt'! I hope you kept the feather?
Yes, we kept the feather, I actually found a few more. Do you know what it came from?
@@AgateAngler My 'guess' would be a wild turkey. A 'google' photo search of the feather may prove fruitful. LOVE the channel! If I could figure out a payment method I'd snatch a batch of tumbled from you?
Where is this? I live in the area but I understand if you want to keep your locations secret haha

Haha, good thing they are tough!
Also whenever I go to MN my fanny pack ends up full!
YES! Fanny Pack! I am just recently realizing the beauty of them.
