    Oh this is great. I had a lot of fear stepping into a heavy after flying extensively in a 172, 206, Baron, King Air, etc. This let's us GA simmers get a nice introduction to a heavy at a sensible pace. Will watch again and make an abbreviated checklist. After watching, I was able to sort through the complex startup and fly VFR from CYVR to KAST successfully. Very nice video, thanks!

      Thanks for the comment. Super happy to hear the video is helping others enjoy their sim more. Happy flying and enjoy all those switches. Don't forget to take a walk through the cabin and down the rear air stairs.

    Love the MD 80 series. Built like a tank. There is a dial below the flap handle on the throttle pedistal. That's the dial a flap. Also that yellow ring has to do with the pressurization.

      While your video on setting up the aircraft is excellent I am finding the actual flight procedures quite confusing. That is mainly sue to my inexperience with the layout and intricacies of this aircraft. I need to find a video on operational procedures that is as accurate and clearly presented as yours is on setting it up for flight.

      Awesome 👍. I was about the same myself. I flew Zibo almost exclusively for a year before starting to branch out. Once you get the hang of the MD panel layout you might find this is a new favorite.

    I do love the flight deck flow. "Where can we put the switchgear for the hydraulic pumps?" "Where is there some space" "Er...we already used a funky bracket for the autobrake selector, *shrug*" Friday at the design office.

    • @FlightBrothersFT
      @FlightBrothersFT  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is certainly different in layout than the Boeing, but most of the essential functions happen in the same order. Get electric, get APU bleed air, start engines, etc. You'll really enjoy it once you get used to it.

  • @JCA11

    i noticed in mid air the cabin temp gauge would point to almost 0 indicating that the cabin air temp is really really cold, Air condition control knob is on auto, not sure if its some sort of bug xplane overlooked

    • @FlightBrothersFT
      @FlightBrothersFT  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is quite likely the case. All of these default aircraft are great, but only complete and polished to a certain level. The default 738, the 744, and this MD80 all leave the feeling that with a little more programming they could be amazing (Like the Zibo mod is for the 738).

      And my PNEU PRESS left and below the covered L shows zero

    • @FlightBrothersFT
      @FlightBrothersFT  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting problem. Obviously our procedure works, so only a few options seem available. Possibly you missed a step, or a system has 'failed' (check failure menu), or possibly you did all the steps but something didn't work (for example, if you correctly toggled APU on but it just didn't start for some reason). It seems you've done a good job trouble shooting already finding the pneumatic pressure is zero. A few specific suggestions related to zero pressure would be to check the APU is operating, the engine bleeds are open (handles on the back of the pedestal between the pilots), and the air conditioning packs are off. If those don't seem to solve it, you may want to start over cold and dark just in case you missed something the first time. Let us know how it turns out. Good luck sim Captain!

    Question - how on earth were you able to do a walkaround - please can you reveal your secret :-)

    • @FlightBrothersFT
      @FlightBrothersFT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can 'move' from any view using . as forward and , key as back. Arrows move you side to side and up down. Holding right click on the mouse adjusts your gaze and moving forward with . moves you toward your gaze. This allowed me to 'walk' through the aircraft. To walk around outside, use and external view (like SHIFT 4) and then move as you wish. Pressing c on the keyboard unlocks the camera completely and allows you to move anywhere including through walls. Check out this video for some more camera tricks. th-cam.com/video/yThbXvAA8tk/w-d-xo.html

    • @mattalewis13
      @mattalewis13 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Flight Brothers FT no. Every time i click on the screen, doesn’t matter where (doesn’t happen on Zibo or any payware) it makes a clunking noise. Could click on the sky and it’ll make a clunky noise. And happens when everything is switched off and cold and dark

      3 options. 1, press B on the keyboard, 2 use foot pedal toe brakes if you have them, or 3 click the center circle on the tiller wheel. The tiller is just to the captain's left, beside the yoke and just in front of the panel.

      The included Laminar default aircraft have a lot of missing features and sometimes dummy switches. Basically they have all the necessary flight functions, but lack the next layer of systems depth and or custom features. You might enjoy the ROTATE MD80 payware if you're looking for a more authentic experience.
