- The Rotate MD 80 has been updated to v1.3 bringing in x-plane 11 compatibility in addition to many other fixes to the aircraft FMC, lighting and sounds.
In this tutorial flight, we take the MD 80 by RotateSim for a short flight from San Diego International (KSAN) to Fresno Yosemite International (KFAT).

I have always loved flight sims, but the cost and time has always made me shy away. With XP11 I am finally jumping in. You're channel has been an amazing resource for me. The video/sound quality is always great and the detailed explanations in how aspects of flight and aircraft work is outstanding. Just wish the TH-cams had a two thumbs up system. Hello, nice video. A few corrections on PERF INIT page: first the Fuel Kg/SCHED must be entered manually, then you first set ZFW not in the FMC but in the Fuel gauge and then click on the L3K button. Also, you selected 15°C OAT at Top of Climb, this is not correct. It is better to introduce 0°C in ISA dev (deviation from 15°C) and it will calculate automatically T/C OAT at the given selected CRZ altitude. Hope this helps.

The Rotate MD-80 is one of my favourites to fly, I have a soft spot for most T-Tail planes.

Take the auto throttle off earlier and get the plane stabilized manually. Also as soon as you see your below glide
Slope you should immediately correct it by pitching up and adding thrust and also you brought your flare in too early which caused you to bleed speed and slam it down hard.
Hope you'll take this into account next landing :)

Assalamu alaikum, I'm using a Leonardo Maddog MD-80 SP2 Pro version in FSX. This Rotate MD 80 1.3 version right now is visually awesome and has come much closer to the Maddog in terms of system simulation.
They there Mehedi, XP11 is just a better sim all together =)

I find it weird that people actually think the md-80 "has" to land with full flaps, it has fixed flap positions and %100 variable adjustment to perfecting a takeoff and landing configuration.. It is a perfectionist to a high degree of adjustment Why I like it

You forgot to arm the autobreaks. You have to select the mode (T.O/min/med/max) AND have to arm it with the switch next to the knob ;)
Nice and fast, but you should have also explained how to see the GS, set squawks, set it to STBY/CHARLIE, also show the qnh settings and so on
Oh, you've also mentioned nothing bout the DH and autobrakes
*_I don't have XP11, but I bought this aircraft in X-Plane 10 Mobile for the new update, which includes fully manipulated cockpit. I am learning this aircraft, is very hard. There are a lot of things it can do I didn't know it could and extra things I don't know about. In my opinion is harder than the Boeing 737-800._*

When I go to set the EPR Limit and click the T/O button, the EPR T/O doesn't show up on the glass screen and idk why..

I follow your procedure for the Rotate MD-88 in X-Plane and everything works until I go to select "TO" on the TRP. In your video, as soon as you hit "TO", "EPR T/O" lit up on the FMA, but on mine, I hit "TO" on the TRP and nothing showed up on the far left window on the FMA. It stayed dark. Why could that be?

I would like to know why my EPR limit doesn’t illuminate after pressing the button. I did exactly what he did. Yes I know it’s probably outdated. I have the newest version 1.42. Any help would be appreciated
Hi, did you trim the aircraft before landing? Cuz once I try to land at a high elevation airport(ZULS), and the approaching path is quite complex, so I control the decent rate myself. After we fly to the last side, and ready to capture the localizer, I realize that we are actually very close to the runway (less than 4mile, however we never have this issue in ixeg 733, even I use the same approaching path, 733 always manage to fly ‘wider’ and have more distance to capture the localizer), so I disconnect the autopilot, suddenly I realize that something wrong with the trim, cuz I can’t pitch up the aircraft, and I noticed that the long trim ‘locked’ at 0, and I crashed finally. I want to ask wether the aircraft will trim itself automatically after so disconnect, or we need to trim it manually when we are approaching? But when, since if you trim before landing, the autopilot will disconnect.

Hello, I tried both, I reinstall it, nothing work!...,I`m really frustrated. The XPLANE 11works perfect on my computer, scenery other planes etc., but this one frustrated me on the battery switch and APU, I even tried open it with running engines, nothing!. Would anyone know of a way to upgrade the aircraft's FMC? Much of the SIDs/STARs generated by SimBrief are not in the aircraft's FMC - flying version 1.42r4 - current Nav Cycle is 1607R1
Hey Q8Pilot. When I take off in this plane. I get a warning that I cant understand what she's saying. Everything is set up for takeoff but I get the warning nonmatter what please help. :)
Did you set your elevator trim? Also make sure that you CG is set correctly and flap settings agree with what you see in the CG/Flaps window.

Dose the rotate have a External Power hookup?
I would disconnect A/T early Md80 dosent slow down enough with it on.

Hey Q8Pilot, were you using xEnviro in this video? What is your opinion on xEnviro now that XP11 is out of beta? I am finding that it is not as usefel anymore. Also, since development has completely stalled, I am starting to think I wasted $70. :(

Good video again.. Try using default xp11 pushback instead of jardesign.. It offers a better experience.. I see that u r not using Reshade.. Any reason why?
No reason for not using reshade other than KSAN payware is already hard on FPS =)
Did u say that the TTE VOR is Tulare?
I'm desperate. I can't get it to where I can click SET IRS POS and have it do anything. In fact, I don't see a line of zero's like you do before I click it. Any ideas?
Are you in XP11 and can you confirm you are using the Rotate v1.3?

Hmm....compared to a JustPlanes video I have and the old Leonardo Fly The Maddog for FSX this package seems weak on sounds. Ex: lack of wind sound in cockpit, no annoying trim wheel noise, etc...

Yes I did forget to retract the flaps.
this question is probably off topic but how do you use the DIR function in default xplane fmc or in the zibo 737. when i try to put a waypoint as the first one in leg page during flight, it always show invalid entry. all i did was press the LK on the waypoint i want, and then press the first LK. am i doing this wrong cuz i think this is how you use the DIR function.
This is how direct works in Zibo mod
1/ press LEGS button (if you haven't displayed LEGS page)
2/ use NEXT PAGE, PREV PAGE and 1LSK .. 5LSK for select waypoint
3/ press LEGS button again
4/ press 1LSK button

You could give MultCrewExperience a shot. That is a plugin that adds a virtual co-pilot. Or if you are looking to do this with a friend, then you might want to check SmartCopilot.
I really like the improvements in 1.3 but considering that the ATS's version is getting released soon I'm keeping my wallet at ease.

they will first release it for XP10 so everyone has the basics as most people still use XP10, and after that they will work on a big update with wingflex, XP11 compability, the MD-83 upgrade and other major things ;)
Release is planned this month, update not planned but probably somewhere this year
Slovenskimajzl. ATS has been talking for several months now about releasing it. It seems like they have major bugs to fix and I will be surprised to see it anytime soon. in the meantime the Rotate has some nice features and positive feedback since the recent big update.
Yea I've been following the development of the ATS's MD. Guess I'll need to wait and see how thing unfold before deciding on which one I'll buy.

@Q8Pilot so overall review do you think it is worth the upgrade from the standard MD80 that comes with Xplane 11?
Raajheer1 yes, it is much more realistic in almost every way. The FMC is better, the overhead panel is better, and the overall look of things is better.
The XP11 default MD80 does not compare to the one by Rotate.

why is your altimeter in 29.92 bellow FL180 or your DH (minimums) in 00??
The altimeter setting was standard according to ATIS prior to departure.

After takeoff: Ops, I forgot to start the left Engine.
After landing and sliding on the grass for 500 meters: Ops, I forgot the landing gears and to reverse the Engines...
