Pryrrus Lightkiller it just doesn't feel like Star Wars. It's that simple. I can't explain how to make it feel like Star Wars. I just know, as a Avid Star Wars fan since my childhood. This isn't Star Wars.
Star Wars isn't just iconic weapons, costumes, or catchphrases, and whoever is leading the charge on this doesn't understand the importance of atmosphere. You can't make a Star Wars themed location and not haver an understanding of how the world presents itself differently from other sci-fi franchises. Galaxy's edge FEELS like Star Wars. This feels like a Roblox map..
@@ghostmedic86 ... Exactly. Put in OT stormtroopers on patrol. Put in some Jawas. Put in a Sandperson or two. Have a few random Droids around. Put the '77 Cantina Music on in Bar/Restaurant 24/7. Boom StarWars.
So bear with me for a moment: Imagine if they simply just recreated the Jedi Temple and made that a gimmick. They give you Jedi Robes as you enter and to wear for your stay, you're able to tour the entire temple like the main halls, training room, a dueling area where you and one other person could have a lightsaber duel where the first to 5 hits wins or something, a library that gives more insight on the lore, and the Council Chamber where you could sit in one of the chairs or maybe holograms of Yoda, Obi-Wan, Windu etc would appear and talk to you. Obviously you include extra sections of the Temple like an entertainment room, big dining room, bar/night club, swimming area, amusement park etc. I just pulled all that out of my ass and sounds way cooler than this BS.
theory’s idea about having a star wars area at disney, or separate star wars land is already so much better. having different planets and some how control the weather. i would pay big money to go to Lucasland!
They should have three different sections for galaxy edge. One for the Sequels. One for the Prequels. One for the Originals. That way, they can profit off of all Star Wars fans, and *ALL* the Fans can have a nice Star Wars experience. It’s a win win
If they're going to do a star wars starship hotel like this, how cool would it be if it were designed like a Venator. You could have the staff dressed as clones with voice modulators, clone cadet training you could participate in, etc. That would actually be really cool and would feel like a Star Wars experience.
that would be such a good idea I mean it feels like this Star Wars experience isn’t really just an experience it’s just then abusing Star Wars and taking your money at the same time
I love how Disney pretends that the fans love their movies over the other two trilogy’s so they start putting all their money into experiences in the latest trilogy which is statistically disliked by many fans
Yeah I don't get why they are trying to create a Star Wars experience by painting everything to look like BB8 as if he is the official mascot of Star Wars. That is JJ Abrams garbage creation. Not George Lucas.
@@anthonygordon9483 You act like George Lucas made more than one good star wars movie, the sequels weren't good but at least I can sit through the first two unlike the prequels.
@@jackmcrae6241 the prequels may have had bad dialogue but that is about it. sequels was straight shit. Why did kylo become a sith lord and wanted to be like vader when vader already redeemed himself and became good and took down the very thing kylo would join later? Did Luke not tell kylo when he was conflicted that Anakin redeemed himself? So now we have kylo wanting to be like vader who redeem himself and saved kylos master. Why did the first order do mass genocide on 3 planets and no one retaliated even though the first order was not governing no part of the galaxy. sequels may have had better dialogue, but none of it made no sense what so ever. Obi Wan went into exile because he was wanted by a empire that govern almost all the galaxy. Luke went into exile because of some group that was considered a terrorist to rest of the galaxy. If Obi Wan killed the emperor, he still would of been killed for treason. That wasnt the case for luke. If Palpatine was speaking in kylos head the entire time, why wasnt he reaching out to his grand daughter as well. He could of been tempting Ray the entire sequels too. On top of this, 30 years and the new republic only built a national guard army where the empire built a army twice its size in less then a decade lol. But anyways, defend sequels all you want. its still trash. sequels have more plot holes then swiss cheese.
Putting aside the fact that the equipment doesn’t look like Star Wars for a moment, they made it out like it was an adventure, but it was literally a guy going into a bar…
It's missing that "lived in" aesthetic. That's the essence of Star Wars. It felt REAL. It was the antithesis of Star Trek, where everything was slick and new. The Star Wars Universe is used, it's battered and it's FANTASY more than it's science-fiction. THAT's the essence of Star Wars. The executives running this crap don't have a clue what made Star Wars unique...
For a successful hotel, I think, at minimum, each floor should be split into at least two wings. Each wing is themed for a different planet. Suites could be Senate themed. For that price you should also be given a costume (jedi, sith, wookie, etc). That would at least make the hotel aspect feel more like star wars
For that price I'd expect a complimentary lightsaber of my choosing (which isn't even crazy because the build your own lightsaber experience is $220 compared to $5k for TWO days). Haha.
@@theroyalmediator2658 I agree. You should be given a voucher to either build a lightsaber or a Droid in addition to a costume. It should be included as part of the experience, otherwise it should be called the Space Themed Hotel instead of a Star Wars experience.
Disney should hire all the star wars cosplayers and have them help make outfits for people. At least then the artistic fans get jobs and you learn how to make an outfit and get to take it home. As well as lower the price... but a star wars dnd experience for 5k sounds crazy for me.
A coruscant villa would be a fantastic idea with where you stay being what package you own. From luxury suites to Jedi accommodation. And even the underworld for the adults to enjoy alcohol and stores
@@brycehawkins6342 Nice idea, the underworld deck, and maybe a Naboo themed honeymoon deck with suites like we see at the royal lake resort, and a more economy star destroyer deck, should be a little more immersive, adults only, you're allowed to wear a costume (the main reason they don't let costumes for adults into Disney is because of the kids) and then have a lighter, less immersive and cheaper section for families with kids that like Star Wars, with happier locations like Kashyyyk and Hoth and Endor, with the most basic package being the Tantive IV or something, with a few characters running around.
I used to work as a RN in a hospital- they had engineers build the hospital and didnt take any input from the staff that actually work there- so we ended up with elevators that the beds didnt even fit into! and toilets that were too low for patients to use. This 100% reminds me of that. You need to have outside consultants that are mega star wars fans to create a great product.
The "genericness" of it hit me when I first heard the term, "Galactic Starcruiser." That alone sounds generic. I thought to myself, there's no ship in Star Wars that's called a Galactic Starcruiser is there?" I even looked it up and couldn't find any such ship. They stole elements from Star Wars, threw something together, and slapped the Star Wars label on it. Call me when we can spend two nights on the Executor or the Chimaera. Edit: I like your Jedi/Sith temple "choose your own adventure" idea. Too bad they didn't consult you before creating this. Well, at least with this "Galactic Starcruiser" I don't feel like I'm really missing anything.
That’s just the name of the experience. The ship is called the Halcyon. It’s a starcruiser owned by Chandrila Star Line, the galaxy’s premier luxury cruise company.
@@jaylenkorth4945 OK, I looked it up and learned that it's from the High Republic era. Too bad they didn't go with a better known ship. At least with the Executor maybe you could have engaged the Rebels in battle or something more familiar to most fans. Oh well.
@@rebekah.2187 On this you get into fights with the First Order and eventually Kylo will board the ship. I totally think they nailed the concept and story integration, but the execution here is poor. The ship lacks the proper aesthetic
If I could, I'd love to be Jabba for the day . Being a slimy piece of worm-ridden filth and still get to be worshipped. That'll be a nice Star Wars experience.
@@davidnalls8628 The thing that makes the Star Cruiser hotel worse the price of admission. Like who do they expect to attract besides the wealthy and elite? No sane or obsessed fan would pay hundreds just for a barebones experience.
I feel like they just made a “futuristic” space ship and then just slapped the Star Wars brand on it. They thought “I mean Star Wars takes place in space, this random ship is in space, BAM Star Wars hotel.” Smh, Disney is truly lost. Literally nothing about it feels like Star Wars, being in “space” does not makes us feel immersed in the Star Wars universe Disney, WAKE UP
Knowing Disney’s general contempt towards fans, they’ll probably ignore the feedback and call em haters. It seems like it’s marketed towards “casuals” (who thinks a ship’s a ship and space is space) but who’s the sane casual who’d drop $5k? Maybe there will be, who knows, but Disney would probably truck on with glazed eyes as per usual. The Force are the Fans. Whether male or female or whathaveyou.
Speaking as a non-Star Wars fan (nothing against the series, just haven’t had the time to actually sit down and get into it like I’d like to), the fact that your off the top of your head idea is many orders of magnitude better than what Disney came up with, and would make someone like me actually wanting to go visit the hotel, just shows me the severe disconnect there is.
I strongly agree, in 5 minutes he sketched out several good ideas for a real immersive experience. Some of these concepts could be big hits. This appears to be a generic space themed destination with some Star Wars branding elements attached. Looking at the video, it has a designed by committee feel to it. Who made the creative decisions here? They had so many good design ideas to work from. The 70's square video monitors on the non- Star Wars control console is jarring. It seems to be a pricy rip-off.
Well what can i Say. Star Wars theory is a fan, who acltyally know Star Wars. Disney and Lucas Film under KK, is not. They are a bunch of in-quoted political activists who have no clue, nor care about the franchise.
@@frostmorph6 You do know people sometimes watch the stuff recommended by TH-cam, right? The truth is Star Wars is dead. Lucasfilm doesn't care about the IP they just want to push their social ideological stances through that medium and make money off it. Like honestly the last exciting thing all us fans were happy about was seeing Luke in the Mandalorian... that was a while ago and says alot.
It was honest, but not nearly as brutal as it deserved. That looks like the most overpriced, sterile, boring piece of knockoff brand Star Wars garbage ever created. If the over-acted promo video was that bad, I can't imagine how miserable it will be when it is full of guests who paid a small fortune for lame activities.
13:48 "I'm just a fan." That should mean everything, the people who love and cherish this story created by George are the ones who need to help create these experiences
That's the thing though, they're no longer making this stuff for the fans. They just recently put a creative director on the upcoming KOTOR remake that has gone on the record saying they didn't like the original KOTOR. They are literally doing the complete opposite. Instead of taking people that are fans and passionate about universe and putting them in positions of power, they're hiring people to fill check boxes and not realizing they don't give a shit about this universe. They're just in it for the bottom line and the lack of passion and real connection to the original source material is damning.
The price is absolutely insane. Anyone who is willing to spend that much money on this clearly does not know the value of money. I really can't believe the price tag lol it's so mind blowing to me.
Well there are of course many very expensive hotels, resorts and special rooms. There clearly is a market for it. This could either be for a honeymoon or just something for the 1%, its just is what it is. However, for this kind of money you do expect an absolute premium experience. Beautiful large suites, michelin level food, all the facilities you could possibly imagine. This hotel quite clearly is not that....
@@ageoflove1980 If this were actually Star Wars, and not Generic Sci Fi, it could've been amazing for a honeymoon. But this is just a mess.
Aside from having a few Star Wars "things" there like lightsabers and hyperspace lines, nothing about it really felt like Star Wars. The aesthetics of the ship didn't really remind me of anything we saw in the movies, and nothing about that musical performance except for the Twi'lek makeup made it feel like a song that you'd only hear in the Star Wars universe. If the goal is to be immersed in Star Wars, then you have to get the details right in the way that the Mandalorian did with its art and set design. Making it feel like a generic sci-fi theme park experience was a huge mistake.

Don't know why, but I heard JK Simmons rendition of j jonah jameson as the stand in for the Disney Execs. lol Just sounds like something he would say. xD
You came up with a better idea in 5 minutes than they did over multiple years. Yes their crew is talented, and the twilek woman had an amazing voice, but they need REAL star wars fans in Disney's design department to perfect the experience. Plus would prefer the classic cantina band playing on loop 😁😂
DIsney released Galaxy's Edge music quite a while ago on Apple music, and that shit is amazing. Literally all gibberish. But made by people who understand the Star Wars Vibe
I think the design team isn't the core of the problem. They have some really cool concept pieces, though they do seem too generalized. I'm gonna say it's who ever is holding the purse strings giving them a quarter or less than what they need to make a "magical" experience, and (this is the conspiracy theorist in me here but) maybe they want something without any specific characters or recognizable elements because they plan to sell the Star Wars ip and they'll just rebrand the hotel rather than having to scrap it. Seems unlikely but Disney is starting to feel ashamed of what they've done with the ip, or they wouldn't have pulled the video.
I came up with a better idea in 30 seconds that that enabled the huge TH-cam pole that Star Wars has de isn't under control of Disney and would bring it under control for this instance to Disney.
Well yeah that lady had a good voice and all but what the heck was she singing?. That was nothing like Star Wars and it was cheesy af imo. I would prefer the classic cantina band playing a thousand times over that woman singing a bad and uninspired pop song.
It looks more like a traditional cruise but just has “spacey” decorations. All you do is eat, drink and sleep between activities by the pool....they probably brought in the best cruise line consultants who don’t understanding the passengers (Star Wars fans) and what they’d like to do. Guaranteed there will be a galactic disco and Spaceballs the Musical!!
I heard it’s the opposite. Lots of planned activities. Only 4 meals and a Galaxy’s Edge quick service are included. So it’s not plenty of eating and drinking.
@@Eidlones a cruise takes you somewhere you’d otherwise pay up to thousands of dollars to go. This is a hotel experience that (I assume) includes admission to one theme park that otherwise cost $100 to attend.

One should be very ashamed to perpetuate such outdated and unnecessary polemics against cruising. Please issue an immediate apology.
The only way I would consider paying that price is if I was staying in a Venator during the clone wars or star destroyer with clones or stormtroopers walking around. Nobody wants to stay in some generic ass cruiser from the sequels with random characters.
The look on your face after it was over was priceless. Silence for like 30 or so seconds. Was not disappointed in all honesty. And yeah... who in their right mind would even pay 5,000 plus dollars for this crap?
You nailed it, this absolutely feels like a third party that is trying to bank off of Star Wars likeness but couldn’t get the license😂. This is BEYOND embarrassing!
"Its like a third party trying to profit off of star wars." Yeah, that's exactly what's happening. Also theorys ideas for it are so much better. Every time if they bring fans and have them design things and it'll be so much better and more successful. Dave Faloni and John Favreau need to take over all of it so bad.
Wtf do Filoni and Favreau have to do with a Star Wars hotel? There are more than two creatives in the industry and they should focus on making content not a hotel
Better ideas: - A moderately priced Star Wars themed hotel, with more normal hotel amenities and features. - A cloud city hotel, where your experience takes place during ESB and you actually meet characters like Chewbacca, C3PO, Boba Fett, Lobot, Vader, Ugnaughts, etc. - Anything modeled after actual Star Wars locations, setpieces, etc. And not a random generic Star Wars cruise ship. - A Luke Skywalker statue you can take a selfie in front of.
Kathleen Kennedy doesn’t want you to THINK about Star Wars except for the final trilogy (aka Disney 💩💩💩). That’s why nothing from the first 6 movies are in Galaxy’s Edge.
If you really want to do a luxury cruiser use the one that already exists in canon: Duchess Satine's Coronet, which we see in The Clone Wars (Voyage of Temptation Arc) It looks a lot nicer, too.
If you understand Disney's business decisions over the past decade, you understand they tried to make something "acceptable" for the cheapest amount possible. This is not the Disney of decades ago.

Someone who understands and appreciates Star Wars should be designing these things, not corporate pencil pushers in boardroom meetings. Theory, your idea is infinitely better.
The people who made this do care, do you really think everyone who worked on the sequels only cared about making money, they tried to make the hotel have a distinct aesthetic so it felt unique, and you can't judge it because you haven't been there yet.
Your idea is fantastic. could you imagine. you go to training, get to use one of those awesome lightsaber replicas, engage in different activities, they could even charge for different levels of experience, e.g. meeting Sidius, Maul, or Anakin, before and/or after turning, different worlds, original trilogy, the universe is so huge the possibilities are crazy. They may be talented, but if they don't know enough about star wars, their creativity will be limited and you'll end up with a pop star singing a Disney tune.
There's just way too many hands in the cookie jar. Disney has proven they can actually make good Star Wars stuff with The Mandalorian. I don't think they're entirely incompetent but Jesus Christ this is terrible.
before the prequels came out, i thought maybe that Jesus was a mutant, like in the Xmen, because he could regenerate, heal others, levitate, but if he was a jedi also, that would make sense, so if they had Jesus in this, people would go, i don't know if they could pull it off as being entertaining
From the brilliant minds that brought you the Sequel Trilogy... in terms of aesthetic, they really nailed the lack of heart in those films, as well as the lack of anything memorable and failed delivery of the Star Wars hopefulness we all crave
You nailed this. The “cantina” should have been set up like Tatooine. Show us some Jawas., droids (easy) and humans in appropriate garb. Zero about this felt like Star Wars and the look on your face during the video was priceless. This is set up for an epic fail unless big changes are made.
First time I saw this ad. Jeez. Star Wars was (and has returned) as this gritty dusty broken down grounded world - look at the Mandalorian. This looks more like they have looked at Wall-E and totally missed the social and environmental commentary in said movie while also catastrophically mis-interpreting the Star Wars universe as an added bonus-failure. No Star Wars fan would chose the AXIOM over the barely function mess of Millennium Falcon. Dropping out of the sky in the perpetually failing Razor Crest - yes thank you very much. Hanging out at the Mos Eisley Cantina Bar - now that is worth money. Hanging out in something so outlandishly "slick" that not even the crew of USS Enterprise would have met up there is totally missing all the points. This must be the most un-immercive and alienating realization of a "universe" ever built. Unless some rich kid's star-wars heroes are the Kaminoans or something. Here is something that makes kids go wide eyed. For 20 years I, as a geo-scientist, run quaternary geology field courses at Hardangerjøkulen, Norway. For the 5 day course us the lecturers always had a secret half-day excursion. Because we were having the course in the location for filming Echo Base on the planet Hoth. THAT feels like being in Star Wars and that got geo-students even way outside of the Fandom really exited (then we saw IV in the evening). And this points to the majestic stupidity of Disney. Those willing to pay insane amounts of money for Star Wars do not want panels to fall off the walls and ceilings. Fans of Star Wars expect panels to fall off walls and ceilings. This is like setting up "Blade Runner World" in Las Vegas.
Kathleen Kennedy doesn’t WANT ANYTHING to reflect the first two trilogies. She thinks people that like the first 6 movies are too old. She wants the focus to be on “her” trilogy (the final 3).
@@feldspar3858 Nailed it. But she's forgetting that it's not the 10-year-olds who can afford this, it's the older fans whom she despises. Kennedy: _"I hate you people. Now pay me!"_
If history of Disney's resorts show anything it's that Disney are professionals at repurposing poorly received rides and attractions into other rides with different IPs that share a similar aesthetic. All the disney parks are riddled with this. Basically, the Star Wars hotel being so generic and only superficially similar to Star Wars I feel is very intentional. It's a safety net for them. If it does bad, it'll be an easy and cheap repurpose to some other IP that has a similar theme. If Disney bought the rights to, say... Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica or any other 80s aesthetic scifi, it would be an easy convert for Disney. So far, Disney has shown they're very risk adverse when it comes to Star Wars so it's very much par for the course.
Feels like Star Trek with sabers… the idea that you spit balled in 10 seconds sounds like an experience all Star Wars fans would want. You are the most reluctantly accurate voice of the fans, you don’t like being negative but you still represent the old school fans, well done and thank you. EDIT: woah thanks for all the likes folks!
Maybe its just me but why would anyone choose generic sci-fi starliner invented for this hotel instead of experiencing interiors of some Venator or Home One? You know, stuff people actually saw in movies and probably dreamt to explore? Even disguising that hotel as some high-rise apartments with fake windows projecting panoramic view of Coruscant skyline with traffic and everything, tours to senate, jedi temple and dex's diner with transition disguised as airspeeder taxi would've been way more interesting
I think they missed an opportunity with lightsaber training. I think it should be more of how Luke was trained in Episode 4 using a helmet to make you blind in order to use The Force. My idea would be to create a helmet with an Oculus inside or something to create a virtual environment where you see actual remotes flying around shooting blaster fire. Where the laser is firing from the wall from this video, could match where the remotes are firing in the virtual environment. Imagine watching someone from the outside doing this. You would get more of a sense of "Wow, they are using The Force to block the blaster fire". You can get away with this because when Luke was being trained he told Obi-Wan he could almost see the remote even though he was blind wearing that helmet.
That's genius🤦♂️, that's also really cool because you could have both kids and adults do it since judging by the concept art adults can't do the training which cmon lets be honest, it's what we all wanna do. Anyways it's disappointing that in 10 minutes people come up with better concepts.
As much as I love Star Wars I won't consume or purchase every little thing that comes out of it. This hotel is a prime example, there is absolutely no way I'll be able to afford this and I'm fine with that, good on anyone that can enjoy this experience --- just hope it's worth it.
I can already think of a couple things that could make this have more of a Star Wars feel to it: - On the bridge, maybe give us a planet most people would be familiar with (Coruscant, Naboo, Tatooine, etc.)? - With the performer, the Hu's performance in JFO came to mind. They made their own lyrics to fit into Star Wars. Why not do it here?
The idea of the experience going through of a peak of what its like to being either a jedi or a sith on different or any period of different eras would be amazing instead of being some sort of citizen going through some sort of space station.
I don’t understand after all the backlash from EVERYTHING since acquiring the property how no one there STILL has no idea how to market or use Star Wars. Outside of Mando/Boba/Kenobi/Eclipse they just do not know how to appeal to the fans.
Thats because the people working on these kind of projects are in no way star wars fans or even interested in star wars them selves. You get what you hire.
I booked a 7 day Royal Caribbean cruise in 2 exterior rooms for 4 ppl for 5 grand. What they are wanting to charge is outrageous. That is out of reach for the average consumer and fan.
Another great idea to add to the Jedi/Sith temple. I don't know if someone else mentioned it but you could have the whole experience become a rivalry between both factions, completing challenges to further each factions' cause. Such as first to secure a holocron, staged lightsaber combat between each other, etc. You could also hunt for a spy the entire time. You could also have study classes to learn jedi/sith lore and force techniques and ascend ranks such as apprentice, warrior/knight, master, etc depending on how well you've furthered your faction's goals. At the very end everyone could participate in a simulated final naval battle in a command bridge manning turrets and coordinating fighters in order to secure a winning faction. The winning faction would take home their own lightsabers free of charge. How cool would that be?!
I don't know about the free lightsaber idea, but maybe an enamel pin or maybe you get knighted? All these ideas sound better than what Disney is currently doing.
@@thatperformer3879 It's so sad too cause it's Disney fighting their own IP. Disney got jealous of their own shit. How pathetic. And to make things worse, they hurt themselves continuing this nonsense. They could embrace every trilogy and all fans but they continue to be fanphobic of anyone who doesn't like the sequels. Disney is trash. I was going to hold on to my Star Wars fan card till after the Kenobi series came out, but I think this shit jus did me in. At this point, I think I'm done with Star Wars.
The idea of choosing an your path, light or dark, is so intriguing to me. Those ideas you put out there are crazy cool. I can only imagine how freaking amazing that kind of realness and authenticity would be.

I honestly wonder why haven't they hired you as consultant or part of their talent...your imagination and knowledge of the lore is invaluable. You are spot on with your comments - SW is just the cash cow: put the label on it and let's see if it makes money....the true essence is lost that way.
When I was a young boy there was a special Star Wars event before the start of the Star Wars movies where I lived. It was completely FREE entry and you got a toy, plus the opportunity to see all the new toys releasing with that movie. This was a such an awesome experience for Star Wars fans, and it was free. Back in a time before the world was consumed with greed 😞
Couldn't agree more! I would never spend 5k on this "Cruiser" idea... However! Your Sith/Jedi Temple idea... That has a ton of merit. I'd consider saving up the funds for that vacation haha.
I've never watched Star Wars and thought, 'Yeah, I wish I could vacation on one of those ships.' That's a very Star Trek thing honestly. When you watch Star Wars, you want the adventure, you want the mysticism. I've looked at pictures of this place, it's not even as large as a cruise ship. it's a relatively unimpressively small building. If you want to sell a Star Wars adventure for 5k, the facility should be massive. A multi sphere complex that all have their own feel and in the center of the domes, a tower jutting upward encased in screens that lets you feel like you've taken a space elevator up into orbit to watch a battle or something. Yeah it's crazy, but people will pay for it. This thing in its current inception is likely to crash and burn within a few years.
I heard they're booked up 'til Sept. 2022, and then dropped off. That was before this disappointing trailer. For those not rich, it's a one and done deal and doesn't even look worth the money. The crashing and burning has started.
lol, his reaction to the Disney Princess Twi'lek! Have to say, several of the areas, especially the bar, reminded me of TNG more than anything. It's as though Disney got confused between Trek and SW. Understandable, I suppose- I keep getting confused about what all they own now! Also- as a fan of both Trek and SW, I can see myself wanting to blow money to go to a TNG Enterprise recreation. That is not what this is, though, and it's certainly not Star Wars either.
Totally underwhelming IMHO. You nailed it on the head when you called it "generic". Even the music sounded like the same crap Disney tries to recycle in every musical animated property they produce.
I think the imagineers have their hands tied behind their backs. After learning they had another more awesome theme park planed then scrapped the plans because of Kathy K for galaxies edge. I think sometimes the imagineers know what the fans want but instead have to design what the CEO and Kathy wants instead.
Bingo. It feels like they were doing a dodge to avoid paying Mr Lucas royalties. Just like in the ST. Kathy hates George and all the actors from the OT.

I don’t like the direction Star Trek is moving in at all. They’re gradually ruining something that was so great for so many reasons and completely missing the mark and making changes that are so unnecessary and add nothing to what it’s really about. As if fans want to see eye removals and characters made into something they’re not. Or core values completely disregarded for reasons that don’t even make sense. They’ve gone completely off track with it far more than Star Wars to me. They’ve had a lot of screw ups especially with the films in my opinion but I think they’re still at least doing some things right with the shows like rebels, mandalorian, bad batch etc.
Honestly, another SW YTer Eckharts had a really good review on this as well, You can definitely tell solely based off the like to view ratio that even if dislikes are hidden its getting hardcore destroyed. But the top comment guy said all of it best, 5000 dollars for what looks like a disney parody of star wars if they made one before they had the IP. Think like Spaceballs. This is far from a curated star wars experience, its paying money to do hotel things in an "Star Wars" theme hotel.

You take the lightsaber training out, it could be a Star Trek hotel. That’s how generic it is. I hope they come up with more ideas. Here’s some: a star fighter exhibit kinda like when the Falcon fought off the Tie Fighters in Episode 4. Jedi or Sith themed hotel rooms. A theater playing any Star Wars movie. More fighter simulations or an arcade with Star Wars games A droid themed area where you interact with robotic droids. That’s just a few I could come up with.
I'll take a full scale hanger where you can explore around the iconic ships that we know and love brought to life and real size. Now THAT would be cool!
I think SW Theory just illustrated the entire problem with current Star Wars. There aren’t people who understand the material or really love the material making the decisions. A guy on TH-cam came up with a better experience on the spot than a billion dollar company could probably because the idea was we need a new hotel, okay well let’s slap a Star Wars coat of paint on it.
The premise of the song "Welcome to the new world!" Is _very_ telling as to what's behind Disney Star Wars. It's not that they don't understand the Material. It's that they view the material simply as a gateway into changing western cultural conscience. The old Star Wars universe is outdated and problematic, but look, we injected a load of identity politics in and "Fixed" it for you.
It boggles the mind that with so much reference and source materials already published, they can still drop the ball when it comes to the essence and aesthetics.
Lol theory’s 15 second silence in stunned amazement of what he just saw is still too funny to this day 😂 Fr how could they charge 5 grand for that and think they can get away with it
The problem is, they've gone for the sequel trilogy look of tech rather than the OG trilogy. And the main bridge that you can walk on there, is the main ship from last Jedi, which just looks all kinds of unappealing. Give me prequel trilogy locals; I'll take that form of "glossy" and "sterile" over whatever this aesthetic is any day.
The prequels look is good because it’s the same used world just in its highly maintained and well serviced state. Whereas og was mostly backwater and in poverty except cloud city which looks kinda prequelseque. The sequels aesthetic was clearly derived from JJ.s work on Star Trek
I think the main thing we have to remember is that this is no longer George's Star Wars. The first six movies and lore were like a puzzle George created, but Disney has tried to put pieces in places where they don't belong in "their" Star Wars.
Dude, the Sith/Jedi Temple idea is incredible!! If I was rich and had that kind of money, I'd definitely pay 5k to experience a Jedi or Sith Temple. I had tons of hopes and ideas for what they could've done with Galaxy's Edge similar to what you're saying here and have said in previous videos, and Disney ultimately under-delivered. In the same manner, this "galactic starcruiser" looks cheap as hell and is just a funky, cartoon spaceship-looking hotel with the Star Wars name slapped on it so they can attmpt to charge bucket loads of money for it. Outside of Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau, & Gareth Edwards, it seems like Star Wars in the hands of Disney does not get the creative respect it deserves/needs to even come close to feeling like George's Star Wars
I’d add the team behind Jedi Fallen Order to your list- they put together one of the most gripping and masterful Star Wars stories ever told (in my opinion).
My guy really just spitballed an idea 10 times better than this and then has the NERVE to end it with nothing but respect and decency. Been a minute since I came back to your channel dude but now I remember why I subscribed in the first place- keep up the great work!

It’s amazing I went to The Star Trek Experience in Vegas years ago and it was inexpensive and only an hour or so. Every moment felt like Trek, it started with a complete timeline of every episode and movie laid out as you walked buy which was great for casual and hard core fans . You ended up on the next generation bridge and you got to sit in the captains chair. They had cast members in full Klingon, Federation, and other aliens, which was amazing. At the end you got drinks at Quarks bar. The sad thing is it’s no more expensive to do it right than wrong just needs a touch more imagination
What this actually reminds me of is I went to see a exhibit on Funk where they had teenagers going “we want funk”, it was so saccharine and insincere yet still it was more enjoyable than this

For a successful hotel, I think, at minimum, each floor should be split into at least two wings. Each wing is themed for a different planet. Suites could be Senate themed. For that price you should also be given a costume (jedi, sith, wookie, etc). That would at least make the hotel aspect feel more like star wars

@@theroyalmediator2658 I agree. You should be given a voucher to either build a lightsaber or a Droid in addition to a costume. It should be included as part of the experience, otherwise it should be called the Space Themed Hotel instead of a Star Wars experience.

It's a hotel, not a cruise.
To be fair it is a hotel room. To me it the price tag. 5-6k for what?
@@Eidlones a cruise takes you somewhere you’d otherwise pay up to thousands of dollars to go. This is a hotel experience that (I assume) includes admission to one theme park that otherwise cost $100 to attend.

One should be very ashamed to perpetuate such outdated and unnecessary polemics against cruising. Please issue an immediate apology.

The Starcruiser consoles look like they were taken straight off a Buck Rogers set.
This really shows the lack of care Disney has for fans. The fact they made this and 90% of it doesn't even look like Star Wars is just disrespectful.
It's a hotel, they went for a specific aesthetic to make the thing feel unique, i agree its over-priced, but jesus christ, please go outside
@@brams9431 is not about the creatives it’s about them being able to really grasp what star wars is and understand which both faloni and favreau do
Better ideas:
- A moderately priced Star Wars themed hotel, with more normal hotel amenities and features.

That's only thanks to Jon Favreau...maybe they should have consulted HIM, for this project?😖
you can really tell where the Disney Execs take over and run a project versus when they let the artists run it.
the mandalorian was not done by disney
The Mando still had its issues, certainly. But it was far better than the rest of Disney’s cinematic vomit.

You are spot on, the third party company is Disney and they don't know how to do Star Wars (or Muppets) without the original creators.
Amen. I haven't been able to get behind Matt Vogel as Kermit. Bring back Steve Whitmire!
Perhaps a bit more than just a room with a few old arcade machines spray painted a light grey.

It’s like they made a list of everything Star Wars is, and then said “we can’t include any of this”, cause, ya know, expectations.

Totally. The AR potential is HUGE. Lightsabers, blaster bolts, aliens walking around, spaceships flying through the air...
Or just a VR headset made to look like a rebel helmet.
They can totally just mod beatsaber and it would have been better than that.
That would've been a fantastic idea! Unfortunately they don't seem creative enough to try that....
As much as I love Star Wars I won't consume or purchase every little thing that comes out of it. This hotel is a prime example, there is absolutely no way I'll be able to afford this and I'm fine with that, good on anyone that can enjoy this experience --- just hope it's worth it.
Man if I become rich one day I still wouldn’t pay for this rip off my pride won’t let be Disney is insane.

- On the bridge, maybe give us a planet most people would be familiar with (Coruscant, Naboo, Tatooine, etc.)?
- With the performer, the Hu's performance in JFO came to mind. They made their own lyrics to fit into Star Wars. Why not do it here?

That was my thought exactly!
Disney wants to pretend the prequels don’t even exist, so why would they even bother making something fans would actually like?

I've never watched Star Wars and thought, 'Yeah, I wish I could vacation on one of those ships.' That's a very Star Trek thing honestly. When you watch Star Wars, you want the adventure, you want the mysticism. I've looked at pictures of this place, it's not even as large as a cruise ship. it's a relatively unimpressively small building.

Heck yeah, I'd actually WANT to pay for a Sith Temple experience
@@outerjohn True! J:FO is incredible! For some reason the games must've slipped my mind when I wrote this lol
My guy really just spitballed an idea 10 times better than this and then has the NERVE to end it with nothing but respect and decency. Been a minute since I came back to your channel dude but now I remember why I subscribed in the first place- keep up the great work!
I can't wait for Defunctland to make a video about that
The love this man has for this franchise is so plain to see, especially with that stunned silence after the trailer. Awesome ideas man and I hope someone in charge is watching
What this actually reminds me of is I went to see a exhibit on Funk where they had teenagers going “we want funk”, it was so saccharine and insincere yet still it was more enjoyable than this
Man i so wish I’d had the opportunity to do the trek experience… also so disappointed in this Star Wars experience.. Disney has completely lost the plot
That silence between 3:06 to 3:38 says it all.
