The best choice I have made for temperatures of 35C and above especially in sunshine was to stop wearing black gear.
Fair enough!
I love in subtropical Queensland and you are absolutely correct. Black gear on a hot sunny day is definitely much hotter.
Perfect timing since i am looking for GoreTex gear for a trip to Ireland and Scotland. Your reviews are also honest. Thank you !!
Glad to help!
I'm with you completely on the mid layer.
If my jacket comes with a lining, I remove it and replace as you have. I use a light weight non-motorcyling puffa, and it has no collar, really important if you want to seal your jacket at the top without everything being too thick to seal. It also packs tightly into its own pocket. And it's cheaper than motorcycle gear. Works great off the bike.
That is a good Revitt jacket, and very comprehensive review.
Ride safe 👍
Thanks for sharing, Richard!
Thank you!
Any time!
Really good review Pavlin. The Echelon certainly looks like a nice jacket and pants set.
Like you I also have the Offtrack and Dominator.
The Offtrack is good if you know what the weather will be like and add the appropriate inserts but a pain taking linings in and out if you experiencing rapidly changeable weather or environments.
The Dominator is a brilliant jacket and can help the worst possible weather (I rode for three days in the rain in Alaska and it worked a treat) has good venting systems but it is heavy and like you mentioned the zips in the sleeves are difficult to close as you are riding which is annoying when you experience sudden rain. I love the dominator pants, especially the zip off bib.
Keep up the great work👍
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Picked up the Echelon GTX jacket and pants as my first adventure suit. Agreed on all fronts, has been a great setup for me this spring in Canada. End of May, I’m leaving for a 3 week trip down to Great Smoky Mountain National park via The Blue Ridge Parkway. Excited to tackle all conditions in my new Revit suit.
Great to hear!
As always Pavlin has the open minded review. Thank you for your efforts.
My pleasure!
I like the clean design very much. Sounds like some great gear for commuting in a variety of different conditions 👍🏻
Definitely!
Hi pavlin, just bought the pants, very impressive, everything you say is the truth as you're a straight and honest chap,I didn't buy the jacket as I already have a rukka, safe travels my friend.
Glad to help!
The suggestions for improvement you mentioned, would make it worse in my opintion. But those are the things that should be different between Echelon and Dominator. I really like that they got rid of the velcro flap over the zipper. The new pads are so much more comfortable than the old hard seeflex, the Nucleys is also worth checking out as a Mesh option, was super comfy on me
Your point of view is always great, keep going!
Fair enough!
Nice review thanks. Inside I was grumbling about the temptation to buy this jacket to replace my heavier one. When I heard the price, I felt relieved, because I won't spend that much. 😂
Fair enough!
Totally crazy price. But it is always like this.
lightweight gear is a important part of passive safety. This system is extremly clever.
Agree!
This product is to much for me know but is always good to have you experience i learn something
Гоод!
Thank you for your honesty, like always!
What is your opinion about protection in case of a crash and you slide on the tarmac? If I get it right, the jacket and pants have no cordura or other material with a high abrasion resistance. Thank you!
The material is tough. You will be okay. Read more about the materials they use in their website.
TY! I find your videos very entertaining and educational. Aside from the fact that this is a GTX jacket, can't you accomplish the same thing with the Offtrack 2 H2O, but in a different way? You have your rain she'll on the outside and can you use it to walk around at your destination, no?
Of course you can do it!
Elephant in the room. The Echelon has very little abrasion protection.
If you go sliding down the road, it could just rip apart and who knows if the level 2 armour will stay in place.
Recommended rating for road use is minimum A but preferably AA or AAA.
I have the Rukka Remo-R jacket and pants. 2 layer Gortex Laminate like this jacket but with 500 D re-inforcement in the shoulders, elbows and knees etc. It is only rated at level B, a rating only for offroad.
Very comfortable and comfort or rather discomfort can impact safety.
If you are uncomfortable you might not be focused on the road ahead.
The Echelon only has 400D in shoulder and elbows etc.
Safety is a personal choice, but to make the right choice you need the information.
I accept the risks involved with my choice.
Feel free to make your informed choice.
Ride safe my friends 😉
Fair enough!
Thank you so much for great review! Can you explain better the color of the kit? Does the pants comes only in antracite black or gray? Thanks!
Visit their website for more information.
I have this jacket and yeah its a good one. But the price is still big in my opinion. I want to combine this with the Revit Avertum airbag vest but there is unfortunately not enough space for when its go off. I have had contact with Revit support and they say there are no flex spots in this jacket where the airbag can deployed. Not nice to hear for me. If i know that earlier, i had order the AlpineStars Hyde XT jacket in combination with the tech air 5 system. Anyway thanks for you great review about it! Cheers!
Thanks for taking the time!
A few month ago I bought a Revit Poseidon 3 GTX. Down to 7-8 °C it was fine. Venting on the arms is the same but on the chest it is different. It has those VCS panels with fidlock instead of the venting zipper (which I think is better). So I will have to see how it works at higher temperatures.
Unfortunately none of the pants from Revit have satisfying pocket-options (at least not for me). At the moment I use a Büse Grado that has very good and waterproof pockets but is not GoreTex but some other 2L-Lamiate. It has been waterproof for 1-2 hours of heavy rain so thats ok but venting is very poor, so I still would like to have some waterproof GoreTex pants with better venting.
Thanks for sharing!
Nice video, Pavel! What i missed: how about crash protection? Best regards, Uli
It has all certificates.
I bought the same set, a month ago. Only downside i experienced, is the zipper in the top/neck, feels a little to close to my adams apple. Also it collides with the rachet on my helmet (Schuberth E2)
Thanks for sharing!
Is this the Black & Grey color? Hard to see the difference on the website. Thank you, great review! I've been thinking about getting this jacket for a few weeks now.
Yes, black and grey.
I'm looking for some pants to use along with my offtrack 2 gray jacket, but the pants being black will definitely don't match with it, do you have any other suggestions from rev'it for gtx pants?
Check their website.
The pants is black/anthracite
Hey Pavlin, how do you feel that your new gear compares to the Sand 4 series of pants and jacket?
Much better.
Great video as usual.
What size are you and what size are you wearing?
Thanks in advance
I am 185cm, 100kg. Jacket XXL, pants XL
@@motorcycleadventures Thank you
Hello! I really liked this costume with its minimalist design and color, but there are a couple of things that bother me. Central zipper, and how, with a fabric density of 400d, the kosui has passed AA certification. Is there a double layer at the knees, elbows, shoulders and hips?
Check their website for more information.
@@motorcycleadventures The website says that the suit is made from a combination of 200d and 400d materials.
Almost exact same design as my BMW Enduro Guard (discountinued) but with only light weight materials. Wow.
Thanks for sharing!
Does the lightness sacrifice the abrasion resistance at all?
I don't think so!
Hello Pavlin, what is the name of your mid layer please?
www.revitsport.com/en/motorcycle-jacket-storm-2-wb-black
@@motorcycleadventures Thank you!
Nice
Good design 👍
But to expensive för me😢
I understand!
I may have missed it but did you mention abrasion resistance?
It has all safety certificates.
it is CE AA rated
Admittedly i have not done any research on south america, but wouldn't the sand suit be better in the heat?
Maybe its winter there??
I will have many high-elevation passes and many raining moments, so I will go with the Echelon.
Sand 4 was made obsolete by offtrack 2, but those are halfway meh since they are not mesh and not waterproof without the rain jacket
Im not much for Goretex or simular linings.
I do like layering tho.
Easy to control body temperature.
But, not everyone is up to that…
Fair enough!
Then check out the Nucleus from Revit + a rain jacket with ventilation zippers
Are you still going to wear the Dominator gear for certain trips?
Absolutely, especially in rain and cold days.
Have u ridden the new Royal Enfield Himalayan? What are yout views about the bike?
I haven't ridden the new model.
While it's sounds like good kit, £700 for the jacket alone here in the UK is a strong price, especially when you need to add other layers to use all year around...
Yes, it is expensive!
I would prefer it with a none gore-tex membrane and a 300€ lower price tag. Gore Tex is not the function leader anymore since they stopped using PTFE membrane. It´s just a plastic sheet with tiny holes in it and a laminated fabric on top
@@johannescarlsson4559 agreed, Gore-Tex is just a branding and what the fabric achieves is available from others at a far cheaper price. FortNine did an interesting video about it, worth a watch.
Good but Expensive.
I don’t like ANY jacket with asymmetrical pockets. Why? Because the left side with the pocket provides at least 1-2 additional layers for the pocket. The right side not, and I always felt that difference and missing layers there. Right side will be colder than left one. Left side will be wormer than right side.
No, I don’t like asymmetrical designs.
Fair enough!
Watch out about Revit and all that BS others are selling you. All textile gear should be changed at least 3yrs passing i change it evey year or two why? I used to buy Revit before also other top branda now i just gave up and found a normal gear why it gives better protection it costs 6x times less and its more usable and verstile to use and i dont😢 everytime i fall or drive thru bushes if it tears i buy ne one and go on when Revit tears i 😢 and tried to fix it now i dont anymore. Revit lasted three years every time after that it degraded in color and when that happened the materials degrade also for the 6x the price it was not economical and as this guy says i dont have to proof to anyone and anybody wearing revit made me look stupid not a better driver once i calculated everything. Since the guy maybe sponsored by Revit i know he is happy but i was not. So happy revit buying everyone.
Thanks for sharing your opinion!
Advertisement. Not convincing. I ride with proper gear on long solo rides. This could be a weekend summer jacket for “Kaffeefahrten” with Friends.
If you say so...
This has absolutely nothing to do with this video or channel, but personally i'm starting to have an issue with the fact that Rev'it is sponsoring 99.5% of the youtubers with a reasonable following.. Did they really have these premium prices 10 years ago?(before that exposure)
It's a smart move of course but it starts to bug me a tiny little bit.. =D
This one from Revit is actually quite impressive. It feels like something between Klim Carlsbad and Traverse but better made and more comfortable. I found previous years dissapointing with the dirst series but Offtrack 2, Echelon and Nucleus are really nice pieces along with some boots and gloves. Steady progress where others seem a bit stagnant and also looks are nice.
I'm wanting all laminated jackets to be of the 2,5l type. Less weight and put the toughness on the outside.
Can I ask why a 2 layer gortex jacket is not proper gear? The shell design is used by Klim, Mosko, etc, the best adventure gear on the planet. What is this magical proper gear that you have found?
@@chillyinalberta there's 2 layers of fabric, not 2 layers of membrane. They all only have 1 layer membrane.
1 layer: membrane only (shakedry etc)
2 layer: membrane + outer fabric laminated together
2,5 layer: membrane + outer fabric laminated together + inner printed protection on the membrane
3 layer: inner fabric + membrane + outer fabric laminated together.
The difference is only the protection on the membrane from wear. I think 2,5l is the best compromise and then how heavy duty membrane and fabric one uses. Like Halvarssons just use 2x fabric on the wear areas instead of going with superfabric.
Membrane only like shakedry is best since they have no fabric to absorb water on the outside, but durability is a concern. Works for a rainshell but not on a full integrated suit.
Fast reaction!
Great video. I agree with bulky rain gear.
Good!
@@motorcycleadventures Kept me alive for the last 50 years of riding !! Serious question though Pavlin. Are the Rev'it products true to size? I'm usually 2xl but recently bought a thermal waistcoat 4XL and doesn't fit
Cannot say. I have jacket 3XL, pants XL.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
