Thank you for your guide! I had a problem with ES DS on Steam Deck and thanks to you I was able to solve the problems ;> At the end of the week I am taking to install ES DS on Odin2. Probably many of us have several consoles - I have SD Oled + Myioo Mini+ and Odin2 Pro - maybe you could do a material on how to play the same games on these different consoles? Thanks for the vid very helpful for the setup on my new 556. I had no issues getting everything set up following the vid. I'm now on day 3 of scraping all my games, that 20k request limit on screen scraper comes up quick lol. Have a good one.
Hi I'm not sure what I did wrong but for m3u's, ES-DE would just see it as a folder instead of considering it as a game, anyways I ended up just having the m3u and CDs in the rom folders directly and hid the CD entries in the game lists. Another thing I noticed is that for many systems (Not psx) the m3u file is not appearing in the game lists (3DO for example) so I just kept CD1 and hid the other CDs. I think what is really missing for me (although I think it is the best Android Front-End I've tested so far!): - Retroachievements integration - Automatic sorting of titles starting with "A" or "The" - Splitting rom sys folders in different locations for very heavy games to allow for external storage options - Scraping is a bit weird especially for MAME roms where for some reason the Japanese name is added next to the English name or other special characters are added to the name in ES-DE and the scraper is then not able to recognise it due to that, so you have to go through them manually which can be tedious for large ROM collections. - Option to scrape only games missing a certain image type. - A pause screen like on the desktop version of Launchbox offering with various customisable menu options (A "quit game" option that fully closes the emulator without having to close the emulators manually as they consume android resource) - Option to have a platform categories top level menu with Consoles / HandHelds / Arcade etc categories to select before reaching the systems list (Same as Launchbox).
if you already have ES from your SteamDeck, and already have things scraped in the right "format"/locations for ES-DE, would we just copy/paste those folders etc into the ES-DE folder you created in this tutorial? This is a GREAT walkthrough too! Can't wait to get this installed on my devices soon!

Great video, I accidentally installed es-de onto the internal storage and my roms on SD card. Scraped all boxart for hours. Is there safe and easy way to transfer es-de to the sd card without losing data / having to setup everything again?
Should be able to move your ES-DE folder and ROMs folder to wherever you want, then delete storage/cache on the ES app, and when going through setup again, choose the moved directories.

Hey! Thanks for the guide. If I have a ROMs folder that is already correctly named and organised, do you still need to hit the 'create folders' button, to get ES-DS to install all of the folders? EG at 6:45 in the video, you create a folder called ROMs and get ES to create the files. Will it still work if you just tell ES to use your correctly named ROMS folder?
Yep it will! IIRC when I do that on other devices, I think I still select the create option, it doesn't overwrite from what I remember, but either way it'll know.

Hey @JoeysRetroHandhelds can tou explain how to choose what metadata image scraped, that you want displayed next to the games in each system list? It just shows a screenshot of the gane and I'd like it to be the 5 mix image that shows the box, physical cartridge/disk, title and screenshot.
@JoeysRetroHandhelds I do have one more question. Is there a way to ADD more systems? Or is that impossible because the themes are set to cooperate with the pre configured folders that ES-DE creates?
