One note: if you try to pull up a PSP game and get a black screen, this is a known issue (and a bug in Android). Open up PPSSPP, go to the Games tab, then tap on the "Browse" button (it has a folder icon), which will bring up your Files browser. Browse to the root of your SD card, then go to ROMs > psp and select "Use this Folder" and confirm. That should reset the file location and allow games to launch from ES-DE.

@@Happy-Hunter89 You can just uninstall and Reinstall PPSSPP, that's what I had to do. Just make sure when you open PPSSPP again that you point it at the folder that has the folder for your save data in it (labeled PSP) your old save data in it.

Thanks for the great video! Two comments though, placing the ES-DE application data directory on an SD card leads to performance issues on some devices, so if ES-DE starts or runs very slowly it's a good idea to move this folder to internal storage instead. And launching native Android apps and games has actually been supported in ES-DE as of the 3.0.2-21 release, meaning ES Applauncher is only needed for importing your apps and games and not for launching them. I anyway plan to add a built-in import tool in a future version, hopefully for the 3.2.0 release.

Wow! Actually learned something new. Didn't know you could re-scrape individual games, and refine the search while doing so. I have a couple games in my collection that I have never been able to properly scrape. Every time I wanted to try again, I'd have to shut down my RP4P, pop out the SD card, try changing the filename to something that would hopefully search properly, put the SD card back in, reboot my RP4P, and then try scraping again. Which was a major pain, so I eventually gave up. Just now I tried re-scraping one of those problem games, and after a couple of rounds of refining the search by tweaking the name a bit, was finally able to get it matched. Super convenient!

Dude. I just found out about your recent strike. You may want to blur or remove certain screenshots, however brief depicting certain characters ASAP. Anyway, love the content, and I just want to keep enjoying it!

This looks interesting, but I still think Launchbox is better (though more expensive, still just a one-time purchase). I'd love to see you do a frontend deep-dive comparison.

Daijisho: Yuzu has been shutdown, but people still can use it and get it, so ill keep it as an option because its really no trouble.
ES-DE: Yuzu has been shutdown, so im going to wipe all traces of it from the frontend and make you have to do a workaround to select it.
    Ive never understood this logic.

@@eurosoe Sure, but having Yuzu be selectable out of the box isnt breaking any kind of taboo. I shouldnt be having to do work arounds like that for a PAID frontend.

@@z0h33yexactly. It’s not like ES-DE was providing the Yuzu app itself to people. Such an irrational decision.

Es-de is a much more well known frontend. They just don't want to deal with any possible headaches. Would you rather they do this or they get shutdown?

Can you store roms for different systems in different locations?
E.g older systems on microsd but only ps2 specifically on internal storage?
And would you be updating your written guide for Android? Think there plenty of options such as esde, beacon etc not mentioned

Thanks Russ for your continued fantastic efforts! You sold me on an RG351P way back. I recently built an RG556 with Daijishō and loved that. Now you've got me wanting ES-DE on my new Odin 2. This retro hobby is so addictive! I've got the RG35XX SP, RG40XX H and R36S still to build too. I'm running out of space for these handhelds...but don't worry, I'll make more! If only there was more time! I'd spend some playing...like on the RG552 that I still love too! Argh!!! Just keep them videos rolling! Big thanks!

Hey man, how are you? Great video!!! One question, can I use the internal memory and the SD card at the same time in ES? I have games in both directories and when I used ES a long time ago I could only use either the internal memory or the SD card... not both.

So, in your original setup video I followed for the RG556 I downloaded AnyHome so that I could point to ES-DE as my home app. Is this no longer necessary? I love having ES as my start up and it makes the 556 just amazing. It works so well. Another great how-to Russ! Thank you. Edit: I answered my own question. ES does not show on the RG556 as a default app. I'm not sure why but I still have it set up with AnyHome and it works great.
New edit: I discovered that ES”DE CAN be set as home default without AnyHome. Not sure what changed but it is now listed as an option.

Your videos are extremely helpful . I have one question . I used your guide for setting up Odin 2 which was perfect but if you use this guide now after setting everything up you have to change roms folders now for es-de ? Please let me know thanks
