In this video I ride my brand new Yamaha 2025 YZ250FX and give my initial impressions on this new dirt bike from Yamaha! it is completely redesigned from the prior model! #yz250fx #yz250 #yz
I just picked one up and broke it in as well. Running the Keefer torquey free feel map and it's pretty good, will have to try out the free feel 2.0 to compare. I was also surprised about how light it feels, coming from a 250 two stroke the 250FX doesn't feel heavy at all, it's awesome! KYB is incredible out of the box too. so far so good!
I wanted to buy a YZ250FX when I was last in the market for a new dirt but there were none available anywhere. I ended up getting a 2022 Husqvarna TE250i and have regretted it ever since. I used to own many two strokes back in the day but had a 2003 KTM 525 EXC that I kept for almost 20 so I’m more of a four stroke guy now. Looks like a super fun place to go riding. May I ask where it is? I’m moving to northern Nevada soon and looking forward to having millions of acres of desert to explore soon. Thanks for the awesome video.
Yeah man i had the same issue in 2022 I wanted the fx so bad and had to drive 5 hrs to get one! I love both 2t and 4t! I have a husky tx300 as well. This bike is soooo fun in the fast flowy stuff! This trail is in utah near utah lake!
I have a 24 yz250fx and I tell everybody. It's a 250 with the heart of a 450 because all I did was a powerflow kit and it's almost unmanageable 😂 it adds sooo much bottom throttle hit but absolutely amazing bike for small displacement
Subbed. What's the fork like stock? I weigh 140, is it harsh? And are the bars rubber mounts, if you know? Trying to decide if I want a new wr250f or the yz250fx. Considered the yz250x, but kinda want to stay 4 stroke. I think. Never owned a 2 stroke.
Hey I weight 165 and so far the front forks are a bit harsh. I'll mess with clickers and see if i can get them working better for me. I had a 250x as well. Very fun bike but pretty violent! I like the ktm 300s better for my 2 stroke. I've only ridden 1 wr250 and it was a bit older. This bike has 5x the amount of power and snap of the wr! All depends on your riding and where you ride! This bike is very good for all around. Desert, dunes, moto, single track! Where as the wr would be mostly single track and more chill riding compared to the fx! Where do you mostly ride?
@utmx The San Juan's in CO. Moab UT on the weekends. I'm kind of thinking the new wr250F might be the route I should go. Heard the suspension is a tad softer, and after uncorking will still have decent enough power. Currently just putting around on a crf250F (air cooled and impossible to stall) but the suspension hits its limits quickly. GREAT little bike especially with IRC VE33 tires. Had a wr250R and put 40k miles on it, amongst other bikes too. Wr250F might be the one 🤔 I ride a ton, it's all I love to do
@cbrmike69 that ve33 is the best tire ever! Awesome man I love moab im in utah moab is about 4 hrs away for me. Yeah you will like the wr more than your honda! Get it man you will love it! Let me know what you end up getting!
Ah it's hard to choose haha! My other bike is a tx300. I will say whenever the trail is really rocky rooty or rough I definitely like the 2 stroke better. But as soon as the trail gets any type of flow and speed then this 250fx is the most fun you can have on a bike!
Hey again, curious if you've ridden a wr450f or a yz450fx? On the fence about the 2025 wr250f or wr450f. I kinda prefer slower to mid-speed riding. Never going balls to the walls. Would the 450 be too much for a small guy like me? Worried I'd have a hard time selling a 250 when that day would come...feel like everyone wants a 450. Moab and Rocky Mtn riding.
Ok so ive never ridden a wr450. However I have a lot of seat time on the yz450fx and it is an absolute monster! So much power it was honestly hard to ride because it was so blazing fast and powerful. I've owned 3 450s and none of them had the speed and power of the 450fx. And as for resale value I'd say exact opposite! Much easier to sell a 250 than a 450. I had a 250fx and buddy had the 450fx. My 250 had so much interest and it sold in less than a week. The 450fx took months to sale and even took lowering the price a bit! I feel like people are going away from 450s and riding 350s 250s or 300s instead! Even my local shops have insane deals on 450s because they can't get them sold but all their 250s are sold
That's the big question haha. My problem is i love 2 strokes and 4 strokes so I always want what I don't have so ill probably keep this and my 300. I had a 2022 and rode it up af a ton and it did great! It will never be as good as a 300 but as far as 4 strokes go it's definitely one of the best!
Ah man don't make me choose hahah honestly possibly the fx. Up on high my single track with lots of roots and rocks i choose the 300 no doubt. But any type of higher speed flow I choose the fx hands down
Yes and yes! Honestly felt 450 like some times! I might even get a g2 throttle tamer to chill out the initial snap on the throttle. I'll ride it a few more times before doing any mods though!
Watch some videos on the 2024 yz250f. Everyone is mad because it has no low end power. Even justin starling a pro supercross rider said he'd choose this fx model over the f. Everyone with the 2024 and 25 250f is doing mods right away because they are very low on power. The main mod they do is the airbox mod and this fx model comes already with an updated airbox. Generally yes mx bikes are more power but on these 2 bikes specifically the fx definitely has more power. I'll be riding it back to back with the f model hopefully soon
@@utmxI have watched loads on the 2025 YZ and YZ FX. Several have said the YZ has worse bottom end than prior years but I’ve not heard a single person say the FX is faster… what possible reason would Yamaha have for doing that? I haven’t ridden the 2025s so I don’t know, but that would be insane for Yamaha to do that. Jay Clarke just put out a video on the FX and mentioned riding the stock YZ and intimated the opposite 🤷🏼♂️ Another TH-camr just tried a YZ then bought an FX and he hasn’t said the FX felt faster. Will be interested to hear your thoughts when you back to back them.
@Mockle07 i mostly mean low end power. The fx definitely feels like it's got a bit more of low end power. I can't speak for high rpm. The yz250f is known for being able to stretch gears and ride in really high rpms and rip! This was a break in ride so I didnt wanna stretch it out to much! I'll be doing back to back vs the 2025 crf 250r works edition as well as a 2024 yz250f anniversary edition as soon as the weather permits and then ill really be able to tell the difference in motor characteristics!
@ Yeah you did specify low end so that was clear. I wonder if it’s a gearing thing? I’m only curious as a WR250 is high on my ‘next bike’ list. (I’m in the UK by the way - our WR is the same as your FX but with a headlight… it’s not the same as your choked up dual sport WR.) It’s hard to get test rides here though, hence the reliance on user feedback on the Tube!
@Mockle07 ah yeah europe is lucky I'd love a headlight but our wr is dumbed down to much! Yeah I'm sure gearing and the airbox are a big part! I'll try and ride it back to back with the mx bike soon. We just got dumped on with snow though. Where in the Uk are you located? I go to England as often as I can!
Hahaha yeah that's to cold for me haha! We definitely have states that are just as cold as Canada but yeah utah only has a few negative temp days per year
Nice video! You basically have my dream bike so it's cool to see your impressions on it :)
It's definitely a very fun bike!!
I ride a 79 yz250 it's great off-road restored it myself
That's awesome man i love the old school bikes!
A true legend
Can you make a vid I’m interested
I got a 25 WR250f and I am loving it so far. Have done a dew mods already to it
Awesome man congrats! I have heard a lot of good things about that bike!

I got that map to ill have to try it next! It's insane how nimble it feels!! Can't wait to put more hours on it!
I have a brand new one too ima go to the track soon I’m so excited
Congrats man! Let me know how it does on the track! I rode it on a little track but it's to small to make a real impression on how it handles moto!

C’ant wait for spring i am going to get this bike🔥🔥
Do it!!!! All I wanna do is go ride it haha so good!
Looks sick!
You need to try this bad boy!!!
Nice review. Looks like yall got a pretty nice trail system.
Thanks for watching! Yeah man we have amazing trails here from desert to dunes to high mt forest single track!

Haha yeah it's crazy the amount of power on this thing! Most 250s feep super dull but this bike is very lively haha

Great info,im keeping my eye on this bike,,just not sure whats better up here in New England trails,,my ktm 250xcw or this baby.

@@utmx ok,ya i race harescrambles where Ben Kelley and Johnny Gorior grew up racing,,very technical rocks and roots,,good ole new england haha
@@tmlpony try and find someone with one and ride with them and switch for a little bit out on your ride! its a great Harescramble bike thats for sure!
@ good idea,im probably gonna buy one and keep the ktm250xcw,,have the best of both worlds ha
@tmlpony good plan! I support this decision haha

@utmx thank you very much for the quick and informative replies!! Alright, I'm going 250....once I decide between WR or YZ.
THANKS!!! 🤙
Would you be happy as a sole bike? Also, do you think it will do ok up AF and similar trails?
That's the big question haha. My problem is i love 2 strokes and 4 strokes so I always want what I don't have so ill probably keep this and my 300. I had a 2022 and rode it up af a ton and it did great! It will never be as good as a 300 but as far as 4 strokes go it's definitely one of the best!

THis was the bike I was waiting on, then found a 23 GasGas EX350F for a screaming deal. Maybe in another year. Thanks for the review.
You got a good bike as well! Those 350s are some of my all time favorite bikes!!
Does it got a lot of botton end? And is it snappy?
Yes and yes! Honestly felt 450 like some times! I might even get a g2 throttle tamer to chill out the initial snap on the throttle. I'll ride it a few more times before doing any mods though!
I don’t think I have ever heard anyone say an MX bike would be LOWER power than an enduro/XC bike… 🤔

I'm a 2T man all the way, but if there is one 4T I would secretly ride, that's the one! hehe.
Hahahaha i feel ya man! I almost always ride 2 stroke but man this bikes fun
you are in to high of a gear ride it you have 14k rpms you are in like 5000
Just getting used to it first lol suspension was deflecting and it's my break in ride so I purposely was keeping the rpms down
You guys in America n shit got it good for riding whether I’m in Canada and I go riding so fast on my raptor 700 in -10 to -15 degrees in the winter🤣🤣
