A weightless texas rig offers a good finesse presentation. The Ozark rig with a Pit Boss provides a slow spiraling fall due to the large surface area on the bait. This is an interesting topic. I really enjoyed this vid
I'm a believer. I bought some but haven't tried them yet. About 80% of bites, for me come, on the bait's fall. Even for walleye, I see guys trolling crankbaits but never pump the rod once in a while. This causes a pause & rise of the lure which helps trigger that reaction bite. Great pool footage, Thanks!
Now that makes a difference my friend. I do see a difference in deeper water. In shallow waters it probably still be a 50/50 in my opinion 😊. But I see what you’re showing and I do like what I see in this video. I’ll have to try some. But respectfully the t-rig was designed to be on the bottom. It’s going to fall straight down under it hits the bottom. But once you start hopping the t-rig and dragging it that’s where that slow fall action comes in once the sinker hits the bottom. Now with the ozark rig you get that action all the time no matter what. And that can be killer. Now as far as people saying it’s going to replace the T-rig I’ll argue you to the death!😂 thanks man awesome video!
I use the pit boss a lot. Great bait on the ozark as a bottom hugging soft crank bait. Two baits I think you’ll like on the ozark are the rage bug and space monkey by strike king. They glide and have little kicking appendages
I would like to see Tush vs Ozark vs Hover. Fall rates glide action and swimming action. As an avid angler who uses almost nothing but soft plastics I like to not spend a ton of money on different terminal tackle if I can get one or two different types and do most of what I like to do. Fineness fishing. Thanks for the videos.
I bought the hover rig from core and the competitor both don't seem as awesome as just a good old flipping jig. Especially in big rocks n cover the jig comes through and I've lost 3 hover rigs to big rocks. Makes me very hesitant to get the even more expensive ozark.
First I would say that the hover rig is more of a “strolling” rig. ie not worked primarily off the bottom. 2nd. I think the Ozark is actually more snag free (especially in wood) than a jig. I appreciate your feedback however and we all have our preferences.
Hi Mark, anyone care to address the line twist issue with ozark / hover rig ? looks like this could become an issue after a couple hours of fishing. BB swivel might be in order somewhere in front of these rigs. I had this crop up with internally weighted tubes. Looks very interesting though, hurry up spring. Regards, Mike
Mike, I have said this before, I will deal with line twist if the bait is effective. Go back and watch our video on dealing with line twist. Thanks for your comment.
I’ve been on TH-cam for almost two years now. Only 200 subscribers. I know I’m not a “pro” or post silly WAL-MART challenge videos, I’m just sharing my love for the outdoors and fishing. @@markfisheroutdoors I have been subscribed for about two months now I believe. I like what y’all do and the under water testing. I do have a good test for you. Take a wicky rig, put it on a free rig, test shallow and deep, I tried it and o boy! Like if the fish are deep in bottom, and the free rig gets it down and then a wiggling worm just falls in there face in deeper waters. I think it’s killer!
I push the eyelet threw the nose of the bait I don't thread.Missle baits D bomb thin and flat,I like better that beaver or yum it was like it was made for ozark.i put tiny tiny dab of glue at base of eyelet push bait on and push down on nose of bait hard.i pre make few different colors before I go little harder to get line threw eyelet but do a few becomes pretty easy.all well worth the trouble when you see what this rig can do.
Of course it not going to spiral. The weight is still in front of the bait! Texas rig it on ewg hook and add a 1/16 once drop shot weight that can slide on the hook itself, not the line.
No way ! The Ozark rig can be flipped into a tree and change direction 2-3 times as it sinks. You can’t do that with a Texas rig. I used a Chigger Craw and an 1/8 Ozark.

Thank you for watching and sharing your observations.
Totally different action. Going to pick up some ozark rigs. Have all the other core tackle stuff and they all work great.

I would like to see underwater comparison of a weighted swimbait hook to the Ozark Rig.
It’s on the list!

Love the action on the ozark rig. Would love to see underwater ideas on free rigs. Keep up the good work
Thanks for the idea.

Thanx, but what weights were you using?
I'm always throwing t-rig in heavy cover so I'll always peg, I really like Ozark in shallow to moderate deep.
Your comment is very timely. I spent 1/2 of today pitching an Ozark rig with a senko to wood cover on Kentucky lake and crushed them.

Put a chigger craw on it. The craw goes down flat weight down. And looks so real.
I’ll try that. Thanks

That looks so good!
Doesn’t it?!
it's amazing how so many anglers don't understand the difference between a standard line tie and a 60/90 degree line tie .
It does make a difference!
I got some Ozarks and its kinda all i throw now
No kidding! I feel the same way!

I did the math. Your rig saves you $1.08 per rig and actually costs.03 cents more if you use a tungsten weight.
Free rig vs Texas rig in the deep part of the pool please
It’s on the list!

👍👍👍
Thank you sir
Give me the Ozark rig but there is a place that the unplugged would do great
Oh yeah I’m not saying the unpegged t rig is obsolete but the Ozark rig should be in your arsenal. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Yeah, $7 for a package of 3 Ozarks is breaking the bank....🥴
Right!
Buy a premium hook $1.25 and a Tungsten weight $2.00 a piece. That's $3.25 to Texas rig. Thats $9.25 for 3 rigs.
Sorry $9.75
They both spiral, however, the ozark is a wider slower spiral. A lighter weight on the Texas rig would also be wider and slower just as the ozark.
Thanks for your input
