  • My car is in the shop and I learned to like this tiny car, not love, but I like it, and see potential as a sleeper vehicle if you threw some money at it.

Heck ya put a bit more money into one with some new rims and tires with a different offset so they are wider and taller. Maybe do some things under the hood, if you can find performance parts for it.

I have a 2017 SE, love this thing. Personally I don’t drive around in sport mode even when i’m having a little fun, I only use it for engine braking which is not often. I know this car really well, I usually get around 45mpg with a few techniques I use to save on fuel. I’ve drove across county 3 times and it did just fine, drove through snow, hail, heavy rain, even going through about a foot of water one time. It’s gotten though every situation that was thrown at it, not perfectly or comfortably but it gets the job done.

Not gonna lie you had me cracking up with the misunderstanding of the transmission. I personally didn’t know mine was a CVT for the first two years I had it, I just drove the thing and got the oil changed every so often. 😂 I don’t understand why these cars aren’t more popular, they are a modern gem hidden in plain sight. Cheap to buy, cheap on gas, cheap to maintain because the parts are expensive but very rarely ever break. They’re pretty old school as far as the tech goes so they are easy to repair yourself. Heck I bet two people could pull the engine by hand with the oil drained out. It’s a bougie option for people who are used to driving old beaters and the tech is not overbearing or overwhelming. Mitsu found a way to comply with regulations without charging any more than necessary.

I'm using 4.8l/100km (50 miles per gallon) actual highway driving. 5 spd with cruise control.

That's not a 5 (five) that's a S (ess) for sport. It just revs the engine higher giving more power for acceleration, works well for engine braking too.

I would like a 5 speed g4 sedan one day just to mod and have fun with.

It's not a 5 speed transmission. It is a CVT which uses a belt driven variable conical design. It also sports a 3 gear setup, with a high and low gear as well as reverse. DS or Drive Sport keeps the RPM's higher to utilize the high torque the engine is capable of. (Because it actually has 74lb/ft at 4000 rpm verse 78hp at 6000rpm which means it can put out more torque.) There isn't a Eco mode, it is a eco light that lets you know you are driving more efficiently. I sometimes switch to DS though to pass others, but most times it is not needed. Those tires though cut through the snow really nicely though. Surprised me how well it drove in snow.

Thanks, I appreciate the comment to give more information on this vehicle for people. The only problem I have is it could be a bit bigger, other then that that's it.
