One of the best offensive teams ever
Hard to believe at one point the Suns had Kevin Johnson, Jason Kidd, and Steve Nash on the same roster.
I shed a tear every time I see Joe Johnson in a sun uniform

And how everything had to go perfectly wrong for it to fall apart. The Joe Johnson injury followed by the Stoudemire injury. The crap refereeing vs the Spurs. The league rule changes about bleeding and leaving the bench area.
I lived in Arizona during the entire D'Antoni Nash era. The people really love their Suns there and I certainly got caught up in that too. Their style was different and I really appreciated this brand new approach. Wish they would've won even just one chip--but yes, one of the most innovative & entertaining teams of all-time!
Yes good times. I'm still here in Arizona and the feeling is back with the Suns now even though they just had a disappointing playoff series loss against Dallas.

I love the in-arena intro for the 2004-05 Suns. The "Barkley-era" Sirius intro is classic, but the Run & Gun Firestarter is a deserving 2nd.

my fav team of all time.. I grew up watching the trio of Nash, Marion, Stoudemire I wish we would’ve kept Joe Johnson. That core four could’ve won a chip, they were so young.
regardless those Suns teams were special, Nash won MVP again the next season. Barbosa won 6MOY and Diaw won most improved player and that team won 54 games without Amare playing that whole season and made the Western Conference Finals again.

Yin and Yang lol but despite their differences both were amazing unselfish with the common goal squads that were lead by mature great point guards in Nash and Billups. That's some insane script right there.

I started watching after amare came on, and watched all the games in he Nash era. Ot was the greatest time to root for a team that was so much fun. I feel lucky , but damn did they come close to the ring.

Excellent video, my man. You did this team right, from front office, to coaching, to players. This team was special. The biggest "WHAT IF" was not signing Joe Johnson to a deal in the 2003 season, because after his breakout 2004 season, his market value went up a few notches. Then, ATL over payed for him and he collected the bag, cant knock hat. However, the SUNS were a special team with him.

The worst moment of this era was when they traded away Marion for an aging Shaq. That ruined the whole offense, and the funny thing is, when they got rid of Shaq, the Suns went back to their winning ways in 2010 getting their revenge against the Spurs by sweeping them 4-0 and reaching the Western Conference Finals only to fall short against a fully loaded Laker team led by Kobe. If only they just kept going with Marion, theyd have kept their run n gun momentum and 2008 and 2009 season would've had better results. Heck, they might have been champion in 2010 if they just kept Marion. The SUNs are just one of those shoulda coulda woulda teams. But TO ME, they were the most entertaining team to watch. The started the movement of how the game is played today.
They said they needed more defense .. when Shawn Marion was 1 of the best defenders in the league top 5 in steals and top 10 in blocks .. I never understood that move

Yeah man its not discussed as much but I always felt letting Joe go cost them a championship, they were literally right there. Always believed if Joe was healthy during that Spurs series they would have won.

2005 suns with Steve Nash
That suns vs spurs serious went to 6 games sir.
They started the fast break and run n gun pick and pop style shooting fast 3s and scoring high points. Them and the Mavericks in like 05 to 2011. Top two teams shooting 3s in the 2000s. This style was out before Splash Bros era Warriors. These 2 teams started it just the league didn't fully copycat the style. Curry made it where the NBA wanted everyone to learn to shoot 3s. That's the difference. Seattle Supersonics Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis was doing it too and early 2000s Sacramento Kings with Peja/Bibby/Bobby Jackson/Hedo Turkoglu or 2009 Orlando Magic.
Suns started fast tempo and small ball in 2000s and to some extent Mavericks copied it / had the most suited roster for something similar. You are rigth about Magic (Stan Van Gundy is one one the famous creative mind in NBA you like it or not) implemented small ball and in out game around Howard and shooters around him but it wasn't quite the same thing as Suns and Mavericks. Magic was great and innovative but they didn't have similar pace or the right personnel. In general eastern conference teams played more slower and defensive oriented style while western teams played at faster pace and scored and gave up more points.
Amazing video man! Just a heads up, Phoenix actually won 2 games against the Spurs in that series in 03. I was at game 4, which ended in a Jake Voskhul game winner! I remember Steph suffered a stinger and looked a lot like Chris Paul did a couple months ago against the Lakers for the majority of that series. He gave Parker nightmares. I always wonder if they could've actually won that series if he was fully healthy

Uh, correction. The 02-03 Suns won 2 games off the Spurs in that year's playoff series. The series itself felt even closer than that even. The Suns were a bad matchup for the Spurs.

As if the Lakers vs Kings series in 03’ wasn’t fixed n rigged. The Spurs always had something in the stash thanks to the League assistance helping them beat my Suns during Nash’s tenure there! 🤦🏽♂️ basketball to me hasn’t been the same since this occurrence! #THENBAISFIXED

The NBA didn't want the Phoenix Suns to win the title. There is no reason for the suspensions of Diaw & Stoudemire in that game against the Spurs. They reacted and then got back to the bench. Ruined my summer...
But Stern didn't like the Spurs either because they didn't draw good ratings.

The suns didn’t just win 1 game against the Spurs they were actually up 2-1 to start the series and the spurs were the best team in the league that year amare always gave Duncan problems every time they met in the playoffs
