This is a Porsche Macan - The beige monogram Louis Vuitton bag, the Rolex Oyster, The entry level Porsche. If you want the badge for the least amount of money, this is where you start! Today, I’m going to show you if this Macan is worth the entry fee. After that, I will show you some of my favorite features, take it for a drive and give you some driving impressions, and in the end I will point out some of the things you should LOOK for if you’re planning on buying one.
In a tale that began in November 2010 as a development project, the birth of the 'Macan' was formally announced by Porsche in March 2011. The name 'Macan' itself, deriving from the Indonesian word for tiger, was chosen in 2012. Just to note that Ferdinand Porsche developed a tank for the Germans in WWII and named it the Tiger, which the Germans used to conquer The Netherlands, which were then occupying Indonesia. Coincidence anyone???
Fast forward to the production version, which graced the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show and the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, dazzling auto enthusiasts.
European models hit the sales floors in spring 2014, offering the Macan S and Macan Turbo variants. Now keep in mind that the word “Turbo” no longer means what it used to. Both of these models come with not just one, but TWO turbos.. Go figure… But more on that later.
Here in the U.S. we eagerly welcomed these models in late spring 2014 as 2015 model year vehicles, kickstarting a new era of driving excitement.
This was a huge stepping stone for Porsche. As you’ve heard me mention before, the Boxster helped save Porsche, while the Cayenne expanded the brand, and now along with the Macan, both have become the bread winners for Porsche.
Sharing its platform with the first-generation Audi Q5, the Macan embraces its distinct identity, modifying its suspension configuration, engines, transfer case, and more. Longer and wider than its Q5 sibling, the Macan asserts itself as a "compact sports utility vehicle," delivering an unparalleled blend of agility and style.
This high-performance gem is produced alongside the Panamera in Leipzig, Germany and its lineage is apparent!
Designed to be sportier than the Cayenne, the Macan came with three distinct V6 engine models: the 3.0-liter Macan S boasting 340 HP (250 kW; 335 bhp), the 3.6-liter Macan Turbo with a robust 400 HP (294 kW; 395 bhp), and a 3.0-liter Diesel with 258 HP (190 kW; 254 bhp) for select markets. The range expanded further in October 2015 with the introduction of the Macan GTS, bridging the gap between the Macan S and Macan Turbo.
Later, Porsche released a base Macan tailored for select Asian markets and the United Kingdom, which eventually made it to the US. This version featured a reworked iteration of the Volkswagen Group's 2.0-liter inline-four engine, which also powered the Audi Q5. Power output was set at 252 HP.
All Macan variants were equipped with a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive, offering customization options like air suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).
The success story of the Macan continues to unfold, with over 350,000 units delivered worldwide since 2014, a true testament to its appeal.
    List of issues:
    -Transfer Case / CV Joints
    -Electrical and Infotainment Glitches
    -Adaptive Suspension (PASM)
    -Air Suspension Challenges
    -Brake Noise and Wear
    -Turbocharger and Engine Concerns
    -Oil Leaks and Consumption
    -Transmission Issues
    -Cooling System Problems
    -Suspension Noises and Vibrations
    -Tire Wear and Alignment Issues
    -Power Steering Problems
    Recalls:
The best option to find out recall information is to go to your manufacturer’s website link below
    recall.porsche.com/prod/pag/v...
In the U.S., you can also visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The link is also included below.
    www.nhtsa.gov/recalls
For either option, enter the vehicle’s 17 character VIN # and this will provide you with a list of recalls for the vehicle you are looking into.

Great history and tips! I've been in a Macan S in Speed Vegas some time ago (as a passenger), and that handled much better than I'd expected!
I'd never thought I'd be glued to the window in an SUV making those types of turns on a track! Very fun experience!

@@jackharding98 Thanks Jack, what does the dealer charge fpr an oil change? What is your MPG? Does it require premium fuel?

@@MrMustangrick I get 28 mpg back and forth to work, a mix of city and highway. I do my own oil changes, so I don't know what the dealer charges. Yes, it requires premium fuel.

Holland was conquered in 1940, therefore no Tiger tanks had been used since they did not come out till 1942. And them Tigers were built by Henschel with Maybach engines
