All Russian T 90M tanks in Ukraine may have received Telnik shells

  • Imagine a single tank dominating the battlefield, capable of neutralizing entrenched infantry, eliminating light vehicles, and even engaging aerial threats. This vision, once a futuristic scenario, is inching closer to reality with the introduction of the 3VOF128 Telnik round. This innovative projectile, equipped with programmable detonation, promises to revolutionize the role of tanks and potentially rewrite the nature of combat. Rumors have been swirling about the potential armament of Russia's T-90M Proryv tanks stationed in Ukraine. While Moscow remains tight-lipped on the matter, evidence points towards the use of the Telnik rounds in October 2023.

@@williamzk9083 You are 100% correct. What they are not telling us is that the reason it's different is it's heavily integrated with drones as indirect/direct fire. Outside of setting /loading the round, the crew is literally (laying the gun only) hands off. Sort of how Longbow/Apaches work ..... Russia is working it's way out of the dark ages. No doubt about that. And tanks play a significantly different role than, say, even 3 years ago because they have suddenly become so vulnerable. Makes me wonder if the future is not "tanks" at all, but "mobile artillery".

Russia has concluded that it will partake in wars that require armour to breach fortifications and bunkers, so they opted to make use of dedicated HE rounds; and this sort of ammunition is significantly more powerful than the canister and "multi-purpose" rounds that Western armies make use of, however, they are also more likely to detonate (not merely cook-off) when struck with powerful HEAT rounds.

Arguably it's more about not allowing the opposition the opportunity to built huge defensive lines of trenches, landmines, and towed artillery. Then continue to pointlessly attack those lines, like it's WWI. Despite having satellite intelligence and drone swarms.
For example if the Russian Northern Offensive didn't collapse. Then they would have been on the opposite side of the Ukrainian defensive line. Which is how the Maginot Line was defeated.
Luckily for Ukraine, Russia had horrible logistics and not enough personal to sustain that front. Which is a surprising blunder in itself.

I like how you say its a cone fragmentation round (which it does appear to be) and then your animation of the shell detonation shows a sphere rather than a cone 5:24 LOL. You are telling us it can send shrapnel up in the air causing no damage? And explode backwards towards the tank causing a potential self-kill? And downwards as a top-attack munition but you don't even mention that even though if it could it would actually be a useful shell since it could cause damage similar to a Javelin but for infantry instead of tanks because it is not a shaped charge? Very cool, it definitely must have been made of washing machines and have shrapnel made of recycled shovel. I think it is a strong contender for the darwin awards.
Then you go on to tell us there is already a fragmentation round but somehow this one is 8x better 5:01 even though the amount of explosives and shrapnel inside is less than the old one since the upgraded shell has less internal space free 3:39 for what actually causes the damage it can do?
Then you show us this camera shot two separate times of soldiers in a wooded area that blurs out the detonation of the shell, which anyone can easily tell that detonation of the shell could not possibly have occured in the air, even with the blur you can see that detonation occurs upon contact - either with the ground or with an object such as a tree.
Also you completely left out the fact that this is not a new ability to detonate in the air...there already are shells that detonate remotely. This kind of technology is old news. Western made grenade launchers, mortar rounds, and artillery shells can already do this with programmable ammunition. Plus these shells, both the NATO ones as well as the Russian ones do not in any way allow for one tank to dominate anything and everything on the battlefield, not in the sense of pure firepower and especially not in the sense of overall battlefield domination of all enemy forces.
