All Russian T 90M tanks in Ukraine may have received Telnik shells

- Imagine a single tank dominating the battlefield, capable of neutralizing entrenched infantry, eliminating light vehicles, and even engaging aerial threats. This vision, once a futuristic scenario, is inching closer to reality with the introduction of the 3VOF128 Telnik round. This innovative projectile, equipped with programmable detonation, promises to revolutionize the role of tanks and potentially rewrite the nature of combat. Rumors have been swirling about the potential armament of Russia's T-90M Proryv tanks stationed in Ukraine. While Moscow remains tight-lipped on the matter, evidence points towards the use of the Telnik rounds in October 2023.

No, Western tanks don't use dedicated High Explosive rounds; the West makes use of HEAT based "multi-purpose" rounds
Russia has concluded that it will partake in wars that require armour to breach fortifications and bunkers, so they opted to make use of dedicated HE rounds; and this sort of ammunition is significantly more powerful than the canister and "multi-purpose" rounds that Western armies make use of, however, they are also more likely to detonate (not merely cook-off) when struck with powerful HEAT rounds.

The Russo-Ukrainian war has shown that neither infantry nor artillery are outdated. Tanks and surface naval vessels will likely undergo significant advancements fueled at least in part from the lessons learned from the battlefield in the Russo-Ukrainian war.
Arguably it's more about not allowing the opposition the opportunity to built huge defensive lines of trenches, landmines, and towed artillery. Then continue to pointlessly attack those lines, like it's WWI. Despite having satellite intelligence and drone swarms.
For example if the Russian Northern Offensive didn't collapse. Then they would have been on the opposite side of the Ukrainian defensive line. Which is how the Maginot Line was defeated.
Luckily for Ukraine, Russia had horrible logistics and not enough personal to sustain that front. Which is a surprising blunder in itself.

The AMP round just came into common knowledge in 2020. It is not in circulation due to the absence of a training round and the lack of integration into current US training aids (AGTS, CCTT, and VBS3).

The tech already exists within the CTA40, a 160 round a minute 40mm cannon developed by BAE. The gun able to switch between multiple round types without stopping fire, that includes AP, concreate busters and smart fused air burst rounds tied into the laser range finder. The weapon able to engage low flying aircraft or detonating a round in a building.
Shovel tipped shells…. Very advanced.
I like how you say its a cone fragmentation round (which it does appear to be) and then your animation of the shell detonation shows a sphere rather than a cone 5:24 LOL. You are telling us it can send shrapnel up in the air causing no damage? And explode backwards towards the tank causing a potential self-kill? And downwards as a top-attack munition but you don't even mention that even though if it could it would actually be a useful shell since it could cause damage similar to a Javelin but for infantry instead of tanks because it is not a shaped charge? Very cool, it definitely must have been made of washing machines and have shrapnel made of recycled shovel. I think it is a strong contender for the darwin awards.
Then you go on to tell us there is already a fragmentation round but somehow this one is 8x better 5:01 even though the amount of explosives and shrapnel inside is less than the old one since the upgraded shell has less internal space free 3:39 for what actually causes the damage it can do?
Then you show us this camera shot two separate times of soldiers in a wooded area that blurs out the detonation of the shell, which anyone can easily tell that detonation of the shell could not possibly have occured in the air, even with the blur you can see that detonation occurs upon contact - either with the ground or with an object such as a tree.
Also you completely left out the fact that this is not a new ability to detonate in the air...there already are shells that detonate remotely. This kind of technology is old news. Western made grenade launchers, mortar rounds, and artillery shells can already do this with programmable ammunition. Plus these shells, both the NATO ones as well as the Russian ones do not in any way allow for one tank to dominate anything and everything on the battlefield, not in the sense of pure firepower and especially not in the sense of overall battlefield domination of all enemy forces.
It's obvious that special attention needs to be focused on the t-90. As many as can be should be tracked and monitored one would think as often as every day. As any one of them gets close to the field and within range then they are a danger. Outside that area they can be just watched.
The FPV drones will see off these tanks and these munitions
It sounds like it's a cluster munition for tanks.
That's not a huge logistics operation, supplying 10+ something active T90's.
That round has been introduced in 2014 and is basically an improved fragmentation round, with air burst and delayed detonation mode, spraying tungsten rod shrapnel. If used correctly, that _is_ bad news for infantry (and unarmored vehicles) wandering about out in the open, sure. But it is certainly not the magic Wunderwaffel (pun intended) it is portrayed as in the video. Plus, there is the question of how many of those Russia can actually manufacture ...
The Russians may as well work on upgrading the operational capabilities of the T-90 system, as the T-14 Armata sure as heck was a dud.
I heard it was called the "Hail Mary" round by Ork Commanders
Maybe they should focus on getting the tankers a decent helmet. LMAO
so the russian just multiply its arty capability by using its tank as arty
I'm skeptical that they can mass produce technically advanced consumables for a rare tank when they have trouble producing sensors and systems for small numbers of basic tanks.
Such programable rounds are already entering the Western Arsenal now. They were the reason that Britain finally abandoned rifled 120 mm guns for smooth bore. Given the increasing irrelevance of the tank it won’t make much difference
