I always enjoy your repair videos Phil! Your life story is inspirational too!
Thanks Tim, greatly appreciated
Mosfet goes boom and it's somehow 'user error.' How fun!
Haha yup
Good stuff Phil bud, it's always nice to see something different on the operating table. That curiosity is what drives us to have a bash at fixing stuff in general.
Indeed buddy. It's great to see something work at the end of it
Your videos are always good and even the other repairs on other stuff that aren't consoles are really interesting and really good keep up the good work
Another win for Phil. Awesome repair and video! Thank You.
Thanks buddy
Thanks Phil, another great repair :)
Thanks buddy
You said you chopped the connector off as your probe was too thick, a paperclip comes to mind 🤔
Yeah that would've definitely been better
@@TheCod3r I like your decision though because it eliminates any variables, paper clips or jumper wires can be unreliable and cause unwanted variables.
AWESOME REPAIR BRO!
The model is Zyxel NR5103 I believe they dont use Huwaei anymore because of the bans and I dont think Huwaei can even make new 5g modems anymore because of it either
Great repair, Taking notes...never go with EE!
Haha yep indeed
EE are the worst company i have ever dealt with. Steer clear.
hope you left ee a 1 star review on trust they will hurt them.
Thanks for the educational vids..I love watching vids that have information..from Michael in south africa
Super cool fix ! And i'm gonna have to give the saying, I'm gonna risk it for a biscuit, a try next time things are risky.
Haha yep, it's always worth a try even if you don't know what you're doing
Couldn't fix an old orange router years ago , so it got packed full of french bangers and sent on its way to silicone heaven .
Nicely done, Phil !
It's a Zyxel nr5103e which Three were also providing for their 5G BB service. All of these have firmware specific to the provider although they tend to work in others networks. I think the EE one was a bit more locked down than the Three version.
Na they all similar I forget the difference I think it's band locking or something. The three one is the best.
I'll probably look into installing some different firmware on it if I can so I can use it with my O2 Sim :)
@TheCod3r I have heard its not possible. Any SIM works in them anyway.
@TheCod3r not sure if my last message got through but they are sim unlocked
@TheCod3r probably said the wrong word there earlier sim fr.... lol um also the firmware I heard it's not possible to switch them... maybe a challenge? Lol
Glad you worked out how to use your multimeter in the end 🤣
Haha, I must admit it's been doing that for a few days, and I didn't notice. Man, I felt dumb 🤣
Did they use the wrong footprint, one without a pad underneath the IC for heatsinking...?
Another great video phil , only got to see it having breakfast and nearly spit my tea all over the screen when i saw the title , just google Irish slang word gee😂
Interesting how that was blown, do you think it was just a faulty fet? You’ll have to give an update once you get the SIM card and have stress tested it for a bit, curious to see if that fet pops again
Personally I think it was a spike of some sort but I'm not sure. The dumb thing is it doesn't have any protection before the fet which baffles me
Nice fix. An honest fault i.e. the kind us technicians like ;)
Ty bud
You need some needle tip attachments for the multimeter. A few quid and well worth it as you can poke through the cables 😅
Phil I'd hope that you are alright. Depending on the cause I'd be seeing EE in court.
Yeah they're chasing me for the debt but they're never going to get it lol
@@TheCod3r I stand with you on that. You've just proved that EE where trying their luck. EE chose not to investigate the fault, just wanted easy money without knowing who you are
You wouldn't believe what I did I was trying to get the x clamp off my Xbox one and slipped and scratched the board lol not so bad until I realized tiny fuses were gone in that spot and I can't replace them. No microscope
Gg
F
X clamp removal tool in the future !
Where are you located? Could fix it for you if you are in germany.
@@craftbenmine I'm in usa
That was one epic fix😃
Thanks 😊
awesome! good stuff!
Great job!
Ty 😊
Why on earth did they use a physical switch to switch on a MOSFET that just switches 12V? that seems _a bit_ redundant 🤨
I'm pretty sure it's a rebranded ZyXEL Nebula FWA510. It looks very the same when I worked with one at my workplace.
Yeah it could be. I thought it was made by Huawei to be honest but I'm probably wrong
@@TheCod3r Who knows! Might be Huawei that made them and Zyxel rebranded as well.
Helping the algorythm
Thanks buddy much appreciated
Yo cod where did you stay in Prestatyn as I got family there and if you needed anything they could have been some help for you.
I love when you fix random things and not ps5 or xbox 😅
Sweet
I have a question if anyone can help! I have a ceiling light from China. It has one junction box and one led driver, the problem is it has 6 red wires only, and am from the UK so no idea. Any ideas folks?? Thanks
Is there no wiring diagram with it? If you head over to my discord you can post some pics in there and maybe one of us can help
@@TheCod3rHi their is no diagram with it and have googled the wiring to no avail, I will head over to your discord and show the pics. Thank you buddy
I have an Xbox elite controller that won’t work uncles it connect to the console wired any ideas please m8
Over my lifetime I’ve tested maybe dozens of power supplies like this. My multimeters have thick probes. I have not once ever thought “I know! Instead of spending a few seconds inserting a thin bit of wire in the connector so I can get my probe to it, I’ll cut the whole cable so I have to spend ages soldering it back together and taping it up.”. Not once. Also, if I remember correctly, these connectors *are* accessible to thick probes usually- the inner metal reaches the outside so any conical shape (such as the end of a thick probe) will make a connection, specifically for this reason.
What's error ce-34878-0 when lanch any games ?! Please
Wonder if you can unlock it to any network
try openwrt
Quite possibly. I'll be trying in a few days
To buy from EE is user error!
Haha, that's very true 🤣
looks more like reverse polarity input blew the MOSFET when you wired the power supply leads the wrong way round, you where obviously near the unit when it blew because you said you saw the magic smoke. so you must have been working on it. User error.
No I definitely only chopped the wire after it let out smoke
That makes no sense, why would he have cut the power supply cable when the device was working?
Thats a weird looking power supply.
The only Briton to not drink lol. Respect!
I'm in shambles that you knew it let out smoke, and kept plugging it in & turning it on before looking at the board
To be honest, when it let's out smoke it usually prevents any more damage apart from at the components which are bad
🤣🤣💯👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
How are you ?
Hi
Hey :)
hi
So much plastic and so many layers to disassemble. Seems overengineered to me. This was not designed to be repaired. Most other modems you would have fixed in 10 minutes.
:)
I.
Haven't Xbox controller? That is giving me chat audio , but no in game audio What could cause that
It could be software related but most likely needs a new headphone jack
Rooter are tough
What a terrible design!!
THE COD3R SHOULD BE USING STAR LINK INTERNET SERVICE??🤔🤔
Have you seen the power consumption? 100W at 22.36p/kWh is 54p per day, £16.27 per month or £196 per year.
That's just the 'leccy bill on standby before you even pay a subscription and use it 😉
Starlink is very expensive. I pay £43 per month for 900 down 100 up with talktalk. Starlink can't offer anything near that unfortunately
3 phone mobile broadband network shop call Scotland T_mobile Orange EE phone broadband on 😞 3 mobile phone broadband networks 😊
Wonderful fix ♥️ #@TheCod3r
Thanks 😊
Hi
