Infinity GAME BOARD £200 Faulty from eBay | Can I FIX it?

- I paid far too much for this faulty Arcade 1UP Game Board from off eBay. It was sold as no display, but had sound.
Sure enough, you can hear the jingle play when you boot it up, but there's nothing on the screen!
Let's crack it open and see if we can work out what's wrong!
Hope you enjoy!
Steve

"C'mon kids, you're staying the weekend at Grandma's house!"
"We don't wanna go. It's so boring there."
"Grandma just got a new video game system for you guys to play, you'll love it."
"OH SICK! Nintendo Switch? PS5?"
"You'll just have to wait to see until you get there."
"ALRIGHT!" 👏👏👏
600 quid and you STILL have to buy most of the games!?
Hogwash!
To the high seas! If that's even possible with this thing.
£1200 for my GPU. I still have to buy a motherboard, GPU, RAM, SSD, HDD, mouse, keyboard, monitor and games. PFFF!!
I said the same about the PS5. At least, this comes with it's own screen. Of course, this is just a cheap tablet and charging a premium for the 1UP name.
@@BlackSuneEmpire you said gpu twice
It's an 18" screen. Good luck finding a tablet that size for the price.
lov blurcam, makes ya 20 years younga
American here. I dont mind if you say "torch". Dont feel the need to change your terminology on account of us. I enjoy that stuff.
Haha, I think that’s Steve’s humour… or is it?
Canadian here.. I switch back and forth on a lot of these words.
Ya, pretty obvious in this context. If it were say, roleplay or something it may be less clear to me whether it's a flashlight/electric torch, or a flambeau being referred to.
That was twice the price of my iPad for less usability.
Yes, but does your iPad have a game where it shows pictures of farm animals, and you tap the image of the animal, and it makes a sound appropriate to that animal?
My Leap Frog Tablet does that, and it cost half the price of your iPad.
Leap Frog Tablet is superior to the Switch and baby toy Steam Deck as the farm animal noise game features RAY TRACING and 240 FPS 4k graphics.
Does your iPad do the farm animal noise game ?
That's right, I didn't think so.
Now where'd I put my damn sippy cup of chocka-milk ?
@@Boogie_the_catWe're talking about an iPad not a leap frog
@@GabrielWebb-hp2fx We are definitely talking about a Leap Frog

First thing I thought of when I heard ocp was robocop 😆
"The resistors are resisting", I was almost expecting "...and the fuses are fusing and the diodes are dioding" 😂
Feuses would be refusing.
Flux capacitors.... fluxing
Could it be that the hot air goes up accumulate near the upper camera and it's shuts down due to over heating ?
Quick fix to still have a overhead shot: put a mirror overhead at 45° and the camera off to the side
You've gained 2000 subscribers since this was filmed! Congrats!
Good video, great repair but the game board is a complete rip-off.
Its litteraly an oversized Android 9-11 tablet with a rockchip cpu. No way this costs 600 + game purchases, a scam indeed
I came to the comments to see if I was alone in thinking this, or find out what I was missing! It’s just an android tablet😮
What a scam tablet….
@@stevenhoneyman I was thinking it's even worse than an android tablet because it's probably a closed system, so it's gonna be a lot harder to customize or add 'unapproved' software, and might even hassle you with ads. Also the price
@@whompronnie It seems there are multiple generations of this thing, but there seem to be many videos and text tutorials on how to hack at least some of them online
I understand having to buy some of the bigger "name" games, but the majority of the games are not free? For 600 dollars I'll just buy a Samsung Tab S get a tom if games
The Tab S9 FE is $450 for an 11" screen. The current price of this Infinity Game Board is now $499 for an 18" screen. That's not really much of a savings to play the exact same things.
Don't know if you already have one but all these weird glitch you experiencing, gotta ask you the question, do you have UPS ? All these maybe cause by voltage variation in your area.
This can’t be a serious post.
@@bradallen8909 Lights never flickers where you live ? Computers are even more sensible than a light bulb, a slight variation of current can cause problems. UPS prevents that.
@@bradallen8909 UPS in this context meaning Uninterruptible Power Supply, not the package delivery company associated with the color brown.
"OCP Owns the Cops!" Busted up laughing because I said it at the same time in my Head! Robocop Fan, Hell yeah!
SO GIGGLY that you did the OCP joke. it was all I could think of when you first said OCP.
Loving the soft focus…you hunk…
No way this is worth 200 quid. Let alone 600. Rubbish!
Great fix though!
600 quid , for that, shocking. I'd said 300 max
and you have to buy the games !
@TheKrogon yeah. I'd of expected a load of premium stuff already installed for that price
At least BlurCAM had your back for a bit there.
god dam amen beat kinda oldskool breakbeat going on..
I'm glad that your channel has grown quite quickly Steve.
You have honestly earned it.
I think that beside ' The Fixes ' it is your wit that causes people to click.
Well done Northern Bloke .👍
Omni Consumer Products. LOL
Between the blurry face cam and the other cameras shutting off, this is a terrible video.
BUT, this is the kind of shit I end up having happen, so I identify with this video a lot.
Also, glad you fixed it.
I’ve also just picked up one of these for cheap! It’s the larger model and for some reason the touch isn’t working, maybe I’ll give it another look…
A great example of how you can make £400 out of few pence. Nice repair, Steve :)
Your transparency with your technical difficulties is always amusing and keeps it real. There are struggles in being a content creator.
My mate vince shirt is possessed and messing with you're electronics. Doesn't want youre channel to surpass viewers lol
I made a video of a restoration of a 1:24 scale general lee, after having to film the spraying 4 times (first orange was incorrect, 2nd orange was incorrect, third orange was correct but the primer didnt bond and it all came off. Then was all the filming was in the memory card corrupted and I lost the lot, after everything that went wrong I guess that video was just never meant to be
I like the rap segment, do I need psychiatric help.
$600 ... LOL what a scam. Great work on fixing it.
It's my time to shine!
I had no part in this extremely expensive product.
Thank you.
😅
It's such a pain being called SIMON....hmmmm
So they say.
: p
£600 to play SIMON, bargain.
looks like a bad case of the Gremlins.
600 for that nonsense? That's wild.
10:25 There you have all the volts :-D
I’m diggin’ the music in this one. Well done, Voiceover Steve….and….Live Action Steve!
Overpriced, tinny sounding junk.
Probably won't help... But on my FPV goggles (for flying quadcopters), if a file breaks because it powered off wrong, if I just try to play the video ON the goggles, it will repair the file. Maybe your microscope can repair them on playback?
Steve, I am surprised you didn't Google on how to test a MOSFET, it's pretty easy thing to test, and don't you have one of those cheap component testers? It probably would have identified the bad one.
you should probably get in the habit of transferring you videos EVERY TIME your done a work session (like when you had to order the new MOSFETS and that session was done, you should immediately transfer the videos and not JUST store them on the camera/sd card /etc ) since you've already had one problem with it, it could very well happen again at any time so you NEED TO play it safe and and make extra copies of the videos JUST ION CASE there is something wrong with the camera/SD card/etc and it's on it's way out and just gets worse.... BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY, RIGHT?
And you should stay in this habit until enough time has passed that you're sure it was just that one time, OR you see more things starting to go bad with the camera... like if you start transferring every chance you get but after 2 months of doing this and nothing has happened again, it's pretty safe to say that it was just a glitch... (which TBH could be something as simple as ONE STRAY PROTON from some star going supernova 5 million years ago and traveling all that way to Earth, and missing ever single atom in the atmosphere until it got to your SD card/FLASH chip inside the camera/etc and changed ONE BIT from a 0 to a 1 and erased all you footage!! and YES this is actually a thing!!! CRAZY RIGHT??? this is why they had super insane shielding on the Apollo mission computers AND the developed ECC memory so that WHEN... not IF... but WHEN a stray "packet" of radiation smashes into the CPU or memory or storage, the ECC will be able to keep it intact.. because the chances of TWO stray protons getting through the shield and BOTH OF THEM hitting a bit EACH and totally destroying whatever info in is an ECC system is like 100 Trillion to 1 chance that would happen....
and it's things like this, and understanding them, that made me the nerd I am today!!! -- lol - thank you Steve for keeping me thinking about the coolest type of stuff on earth :D I hope you learned something new... OR rehashed an old memory because you already knew all this :D lol
I dont think you need to say "torch / flashlight", because most american's can work out what torch means, and the ones that can't don't watch your videos, they're busy working on Donald Trumps campaign
I love your videos, Steve. I look forward to a repair every weekend. It also made me happy to hear your mind went to the same place when reading "OCP".
I’ve got one of these tables. They’re good, maybe a bit high priced. I paid £800 for mine drunk one Christmas haha. But when friends come over etc it’s a good laugh. You get all the hasbro games free and 3rd party ones are cheap enough and decent too. Monopoly is ace on it.
$600 bucks for a oversized tablet...wouldn't buy. GG on the fix!!
Good work Steve, I had the same issues when recording via OBS my audio after recording would crap out but at random, after many failed videos I finally found the issue, it was the USB PCIE expansion card... Your issue is probably not the same but also worth a test and check!
Have you looked into the Sony FX3 or cheaper FX30 for main cam?
Personally I would stay a million miles away from a ZV-1.
That is to much money and you have to buy the games. Nice job fixing it. I wish I could do board-level soldering.
Hate it when clowns send MOSFETs through the post in non-ESD packaging
At least he got genuine MOSFETs, unlike some repair channel owners.
Great job zeroing in on the problem so quickly. I had the exact thoughts as you. Clean caps that probably aren't old enough to fail yet, but voltage regulators love to die (They pass a lot of voltage and heat!)
1:23 my manager's crazy he always smokes DUST / he's got his own room at the back of the bus
Steve, does your cameras appear to only shut off when your soldering? That may be a thing there. We never see it go off when your just inspecting and probing. It's not until you're soldering.
Question for those in the know - aren't mosfet failures a telltale sign of bad design?
Or is it mostly poor quality component thing?
It's like... perhaps not as common as electrolytic caps releasing the magic smoke, or inductors blowing up, but not the first time I've seen a mosfet going bad too... most of the times those too will show up cracks or discoloration due to excessive heat.
Great vid. Do you have your video equipment hooked up to a UPS/Surge protector?
May help in situations like this.
Ahhhhh Steve, the fixer's dilemma! How to film yourself while you fix your cameras?????
I would’ve loved this but like…paying for service-based game is ridiculous.
That problem is really uncharacteristic. Unless it is just that device because of a faulty batch or something like that. Usually when a backlight fails it is because a bulb (or LED or fluorescent or whatever light your display has) fails and they are connected in series so all lights turn off (much like your christmas lights), To fix the problem you usually need to replace part or all the strip of lights or bulbs. The repair is much more involved (you need to take apart the screen, if it is even possible), but the fix is much cheaper.
Get In !!!!!! Love it Steve ! Nice job with those power mosfets . Seems to be a common failure on many items these days . Good stuff man !
How about you put a UPS on your Amazon wishlist? You should have battery backup power!
My man..Good for you lad. I am so glad, taht you are able to repair this bloody thing like charm :) Brilliant work mate :)
You know if I didn't know any better id say that blur-cam isn't really trademarked.
great repair but boy is that price a rip off for something like that especially since you have to buy some
and ipad cost less than that
if they want to make it more worth it add a scanner for bar codes/QR codes so you can add games you have physical copies off. (and maybe what you have on your other android/apple devices/Misc devices)
My father worked for Redifusion repairing tellivisions and radios, he always used to test the caps first.
I think you got lucky because theres 2 voltage regulators and got different readings. If was only one I would have say the regulator is ok.
Bloody dusty cam steve, thought it was on my tablet i was viewing this on lol great vid always look forward to you and your fixes do your overhead cameras need fixing? Hope the problem gets sorted x
Stez do you have a 3d printer? I bet you could print/make some cool stuff because you are very creative.
Man this thing is a dumpster fire! Who is dumb enough to buy that thing for that price? Put a tablet on your table, open a jpg of your favorite board game and you're good to go.
it,s hard life being a youtuber . who would believe that steve is only 26 years old .😂😁😉
Could you do a video off recovering video files? I'm quite interested how you go about that.
If anything could go wrong, it did go wrong in this video making.. 🎉 fantastic... content.
Given that monopoly traditionally ends with one person throwing the whole thing to the floor and storming off, making it an electronic device instead of plastic/card seems like an accident waiting to happen😂
does this 600 quid...thing... have 0 active cooling?
To be fair you have too pay £700 for ps5 pro and don't get disc drive from or any games lol
Try to repair Camera maby Maybe it won't overheat anymore??? As a special edition
Nice drum & bass track and loved the Robocop reference this episode. 🤖 👮
I may have missed it and forgive me if I did, but the new mosfet, how did they test compared to the existing? was the old one on the right the issue?
When you changed the caption to "Non Blur Cam" I laughed so hard!
I show up for Dave, but I stay for Steve and the music.

Surprised you did not check the back lights themselves, they might be shorted
Omg now i want to hear the next intro song be a Paul Simon one. Sounds perfect!
Next video "Can I fix this household power filter"
You post interesting articles but the background music is crap
I have a strange request. I rescue cats and I have an automatic cat litter tray. It's died. Checked and there's power in to board. Obviously I can't send whole litter tray but I can take board out. Any way anyone can help
If the cat's died you don't have to feed it

see if you got a local "repair cafe" in the next bigger city. These guys normally tackle anything that can be brought to the location.

thanks, loving the my mate vince tee, looking for the reciprocal
Does My Mate Vince have a StezStix Fix? t shirt?
5:55 When will you learn to not put the screen for the microscope in the camera view? 😁
Is there a deep dive into this channel's music production?
For 600 lb it should have least had a 60 games in there what a rip off.
200 pounds for this.who paying 600 new for this rip off
Another 'solid' effort as always Steve.
stupid question but couldnt you just do that on a cheap tablet?
600$ and you need to pay for games ?? what the f*** ??
I think you should clean your microscope.
2:17 It's at the back!!! 😁
Quality dad joke 😂
I bet next video will be a camera fixing one…:)
I believe you know more than you admit.
so whats the meassures you need to get into a mosfet to know it bad?
Your songs were top tier A+, well done sir, well done.
