well i have seen one of your video that says How i record my drums... But how to deal with the phase issue. How to mic the drums to reduce or cancel the phase issues 😅
If you dig back through my videos, earlier this year I made one about tracking drums and mic placements. But I’ll do an updated one maybe and cover phase relationships in it also ^ if you get 50 likes 😂😂😂
So true what you are saying about plugins adding gain randomly. So many are terrible. It’s something else that’s just easier and more intuitive with hardware where you can tweak the input and output at the same time, to try to keep the gain consistent. On plugins with a mouse you have to tweak one and the other and it’s not quite as intuitive.
Thank you so much for doing these videos. You're an excellent teacher. I'm a noob to recording/mixing. With help from videos like yours, I'm getting better - but I'm still a long way from where I'd like to be. I'm curious. How long did it take you to begin to put a workflow together - and get mixes that were where you wanted them to be? Thanks again for taking the time to make these videos.
Thanks mate! Hmm I mean, it’s an endless journey really! But it definitely took a few years to really find my stride in audio production and then I’m always learning new things too.
Learning to listen and seeing your techniques, I can only be grateful. I'm a beginner. Could you tell me or make a video how you mix the complete vocal chain? I saw that in this video there was only the main vocal. Why did you use stereo channels instead of mono? His mixing style caught my attention. It will certainly be an influence. Grateful.
Thanks mate. It would most likely be mono to stereo fx, the Cla vocals plugin does this, it doesn’t have a mono option. It applies spatial fx so stereo makes sense. I’ll have to do a full vocal mix tutorial soon!
Hey man, I’m running the highest buffer, but the computer is working hard to run playback of a busy cpu heavy session + screen capture + record the audio + recording my vocal in garage band at the same time through my Apollo twin 😂😂 surprised my mac hasn’t blown up yet. Sometimes the pops are unavoidable like when I bypass and turn a plugin back on. I do try to redo parts of the video if I hear a loud pop - but sometimes they can’t be avoided.
I was always afraid to remove around the 2k range, but it makes so much sense that's where most nasal is. It's always surprising where you can cut the most frequencies.
@@spinlightstudios I notice listening through headphones my vocals always sound better. Wondering is that a normal thing or is there anything special one can do?
Sir can you make a video on how to mic drums and record them without any phase issues?
If your comment gets 50 likes 😂 (Definitely an idea for a video)
Lol... Guys heard him? Do this😂

Good job! What's the name of the song?
Thanks! “The Heist” by Out Of Context. Not sure if the original mix is anywhere - recorded it back around 2013 I think.
La 2a is a slow compressor
And?
