One of the best situations for having a neck knife is during a rear naked choke. If someone has you in a fully locked rear naked choke, you are at their mercy. However, with a neck knife blade sunk deep into their forearm, not only will they turn you loose quickly, but will be getting to the hospital asap to avoid bleed-out. A neck knife hanging in the center of your chest is the perfect location for retrieving your neck knife during a rear naked choke. I wish that you would demonstrate this rear naked choke defense technique in your videos. My friend is an MMA and defense trainer. He trains his students how to defend themselves from a rear naked choke using the neck knife that I gave him as a gift. Thanks for the great videos.
I totally agree. I know someone who got into a choke hold in a loading dock by a homeless guy in downtown Seattle a few years ago and now I keep 2 fixed blade knives ready to go for that possibility.
I prefer to reserve my defensive blades for defensive use only. When possible, I carry a second knife for utility work. Just a personal prejudice--avoid dulling the blade or breaking the point opening boxes and cans and turning screws with my defensive blade so that it's sharpest when needed.
I do the same. I never use my defensive knife other than for defense and I am glad I have never used it so far. I carry a second knife or a third knife for utility purposes. My third id usually a small utility knife with interchangeable blades.
I understand the "this knife is my defensive knife and I will never cut anything with it"... but I use my knife to open boxes and cut whatever needs cut. In fact, I've never had an occasion to stab or cut anyone. So When and if asked by an officer what's this knife for?... The answer is always cutting things. Infact sir I opened a box this morning with it. It most likely still has tape residue on it. I would never explain that this knife is my defensive knife. I've seen a kid arrested for a balisong and charged with CCW. He said it was for cutting drywall and it was covered in it. He explained it was a one-handed opening and closing, and he could put it back while holding the drywall. The officer still charged him and when he got to court. He gave the same excuse for having a balisong knife. As it was still covered in drywall dust the judge dismissed all the charges. Some might even say the drywall dust was cover for action... something to consider. As I said mine probably still has tape residue on it. If you think it won't cut because I opened a box or the tape residue will somehow diminish its ability to cut, you'd be wrong.
The CRKT S.P.E.W. design has been my defense blade ever since Alan Folts released his CRKT series (he has multiple). That being said, this blade looks literally identical to my EDC blade by CRKT. Plus, I have a thing for sharpening blades (Wicked Edge sharpening tools will turn a butter knife into something evil) so this particular blade, and the right sharpening tools and a little effort, the blood will still be blue as it sprays across the walls.
I use the same knife as my edc knife. It is a great blade for sure. I also have a minimalist Bowie for open packages and other utility purposes. Love Crkt knives for sure. They are are great yet cheap so it not a huge deal if you lose it or it is confiscated
I just got the CRKT spew from Amazon last week and it looks exactly like what Jason is using in this video. $20, razor sharp out of the box and hanging around my neck via the lanyard. I call it my "let go of me" knife. I was busted in my local Social Security office recently by the armed security guy for having a fixed blade knife (CRKT Stiff Kiss) hanging out of my back pocket and told to take it out to my car as weapons of any kind aren't permitted in Federal buildings. I highly recommend this neck knife for it's concealability ... for a measley 20 bucks you have a great defensive weapon that isn't observable by your regular security types.
@@jaypickett3552 the fact that it is so easy to conceal is one of the reasons that I picked it up. That and the fact that it has a 3 inch blade. Were I live we are only allow to conceal carry a knife with a 3 inch or less blade. And I want something a bit better then my minimalist Bowie as a defensive blade. So got the S.P.E.W. Sometimes when you draw IWB fast [no thumb push-off], if you do not have a good solid clip/retention, the whole sheath will come out with the blade. Piece of paracord around the belt and through holes at end of kydex sheath will prevent that. Well, put it this way. . . the sheath will come to a stop but the knife will come free. The sheath then will be hanging outside your trousers, but hey, if you need it fast and knife only, it will work. Generally better to have blade ahead of hip bone, so you don't have to twist/contort your body to access it where your shoulder can be trapped/knife and arm pinned against a wall, car, etc. . Go appendix weak side carry and your strong hand can draw cross body, or support hand in a powerful backhand sweep. Handle right below navel. Dave Holladay carry. Oh yeah, knife fights suck if they have one too.
I have a White River neck knife in the black anodized, which is not quite as narrowly pointed on the tip, but I really like the design. The White River neck knife has a place for your thumb and forefinger to keep your hand from slipping onto the blade while deploying. The handle is wrapped in Paracord for a very thin profile. I never leave home without it. I do like the price of the Berserker Knife. Great video!
I like my Emerson knife. In a pair of jeans it comes out 95% of the time. On the rare occasion it doesn't come out is can easily be flicked out with one hand or simply used as a yawara impact tool in the closed position. Still, as a defensive blade I prefer a fixed blade.

What steel is this bad boy? I understand for defense edge retention and hardness are lower on the list. It needs to be tough so it does not break while you are defending from the bad guy. It also needs to not be garbage playdoh steel.
How are you going to cut through all his clothing with that little blade. I understand a Tee shirt but, what about heavier shirts and pants like jeans? Obviously, the neck & face are best and usually uncovered. And usually better defended
cold steel black talon 2 the slasher of all time hands down specially with multiple attacked doin a simple x motion will have 2 bleeding out I mean the hospital could be cross the street and it wouldn't matter this blade with a hook on the end and serrated is fckin nasty for a kool 125 an x anyone can do.......

Please disclose the price up front like all knife sellers do. I'm not going to set up shipping and go to the end of an order process just to see the price. Just be upfront and disclose the price, and then I might buy it.
In California, a fixed blade knife must be openly carried in a sheath on your waist. There is a lot of nuance in the law. An automatic knife under 2" is not considered a switchblade. Having one, is still a good excuse for a cop to shoot you.
That thing like fighting with a box cutter....but..best used when the assailant is in your space...I prefer a much longer blade..to keep the other guy as far as possible..no telling what he has got be it a weapon, bad case of herpes, HIV, hepatitis...or just skin fungus from his crappy gym...and because of all this.. if seeing a larger weapon makes him keep his distance...maybe I can just run away...yes...better. The best concealed knives are stone or obsidian knives..I make them and people just LOVE them.. they look Kool AF...you can bypass metal detectors...stone is as sharp as steel...and obsidian makes the sharpest blades known to man...imagine what you can do with that And before some smart ass says hey how did that work out for the Aztecs, well it wasn't the Spaniards that defeated them.. it was the 100k native allies that did the heavy fighting....with obsidian blades
Ok.ooooook. I'm a knife nut...I'm also quite proficient with regular blade, but Indonesian karambit (the one with 2 cutting edges, just as both God and Mother Nature intended) makes my spidey senses tingle in quite funny way. This blade is just fucking sexy! Fixed blade (no jamming!), light, kydex seethe with strong clip and it's small so you're free to deploy in clinch. It's perfect urban defense knife! P.s.: 99.9% of combat techniques and knife-based martial arts are about slashing (tendons, muscles, major blood vessels, peritoneum),but there's nothing about stabbing. Of course "shanking" gets the job done in chow lines, with 5 homies but it's never advised. If you have serrated blade, then it can get stuck, and you're probably fucked, but are there any other arguments against stabbing? You definitely can reach and uncover yourself and that's crazy dungeons. What's your take on that??

Problem Two is surviving the legal fallout on the battlefield of public policy. When "only bad guys use knives" your defense attorney will be required to change hearts and minds,

@@alancranford3398 This is probably the best and the most controversial advice that can be given: If you rightfully kill in self defense...put your hood on...and walk away slowly. I know it sounds bad,but there's always a chance that system will drop on you like a tonne of bricks just for defending your life.
Just walk away and never mention it again.
Very informative Jason. I just purchased a Cold Steel Forged Survivalist knife ( 8 inch blade). Do you think it can be used for self defense? God bless.
hey jason , would love to see this knife in a tanto or tanto with partial serration blades ????? , these would sell like hotcakes, lol, lol, keep em coming dear brotha > tom!
How much is it?
Interesting presentation but the link goes to a page that does not tell me the price. That's a no-sell every day in my book Jason.
Spyderco Yojimbo2 or Yojumbo or the Ronin fixed
Jason, you're fantastic, thanks for the videos
You're welcome! Glad you like it! God bless
It just looks like a CRKT SPEW but less strong.
Nice video though and greetings from Belgium
Is this knife legal to carry in California?
I understand the time factor. But, I would find it difficult to replace my Spyderco P3 as an EDC.
Thank you for watching. God bless!
Showing the price on your website would help instead of being forced to enter personal information first
Great video nice knife would have liked to see a price for it.??
The web address you mentioned doesn't seem to exist. It leads me to other sites.
Where do i buy the knife ?
What's the price?
The link doesn't show the price just some cheesy green link to give your info first
i cant find a price, place of manufacturing or steel type anywhere...
No steel type info anywhere that I can find, that means not for me if past experience is anything to consider. SMKW has a CRKT SPEW in D2.
@@4449John its kinda... is 'shady' the correct word?
i stick to my custom blades😂 got a wharnie from a german maker by the name berserker blades.
What steel is this bad boy? I understand for defense edge retention and hardness are lower on the list. It needs to be tough so it does not break while you are defending from the bad guy. It also needs to not be garbage playdoh steel.
Any benefits over the crkt spew?
well for one, HE gets the money.
@@guysmith1134 🤣
How are you going to cut through all his clothing with that little blade. I understand a Tee shirt but, what about heavier shirts and pants like jeans? Obviously, the neck & face are best and usually uncovered. And usually better defended
I'll show you on my best buddy Bob. Lol😂
Put the price up front and I will gladly buy one.
Is this legal In California?
Coming from you sir ,I remember that free stiletto knife you sent me ,you should be ashamed to ever recommend anyone a knife ...lol
Just received my purchase. The lured sheath is worthless for neck knife use. The knife keeps falling out!
Kydex sheath doesn’t hold knife in neck knife carry.
Looks like the CRKT S.P.E.W
cold steel black talon 2 the slasher of all time hands down specially with multiple attacked doin a simple x motion will have 2 bleeding out I mean the hospital could be cross the street and it wouldn't matter this blade with a hook on the end and serrated is fckin nasty for a kool 125 an x anyone can do.......
I notice that you’re selling this blade, so how much is it? I hate web offers that make you enter all of your info before it tells you how much you’re paying.
Jason it’s called a knife Magnet lol
Please disclose the price up front like all knife sellers do. I'm not going to set up shipping and go to the end of an order process just to see the price. Just be upfront and disclose the price, and then I might buy it.
👍🏻
Thank you for watching. God bless!
CRKT SPEW
Blade is only 3” long
In California, a fixed blade knife must be openly carried in a sheath on your waist. There is a lot of nuance in the law. An automatic knife under 2" is not considered a switchblade. Having one, is still a good excuse for a cop to shoot you.
Thank you for sharing. Keep safe and God bless!
Jason, come on, Crocodile Dundee would surely not approve ! LOL.
I'll keep my SWITCHBLADE! m
Bastinelli Pika.
I'm an ex felon iWork in the tenderloin district of s.f.calif I carry a cheap but extremely sharp twenty dollar throw away 😂😂😂😂
There ya go, you have the right idea.
The best concealed knives are stone or obsidian knives..I make them and people just LOVE them.. they look Kool AF...you can bypass metal detectors...stone is as sharp as steel...and obsidian makes the sharpest blades known to man...imagine what you can do with that
And before some smart ass says hey how did that work out for the Aztecs, well it wasn't the Spaniards that defeated them.. it was the 100k native allies that did the heavy fighting....with obsidian blades
Thank you for sharing, Miguel. God bless!
Magnet
Knife fights are so uncivilized
Its a 7 years jail blade or not ?...⛔🔙🏁
👍👍
The fs knife is that they gave to British and Canadian commandos
magnets..
