“You drive the same friend that my car drives” 😂
I caught that too, it happens to everyone!
At least you caught it in editing. lol.
It's okay. We all do things like that at one time or another.
thanks you too!. that made me laugh because it happens to me more often than I'd like it to so I could relate :)
This is me when drunk
There are 3 concepts I learned which I found useful: 1) Hard-on-Soft: Punches are hard, so hit soft targets (such as the throat). Palm strikes are soft, so hit hard targets (such as the skull or the jaw) and you won't injure your hand. 2) Life Support system: Strike the weakest areas on the opponent: Eyes, throat, carotid arteries (side of neck), ears (clap on them) and groin. 3) Diminished Fighter theory: Your opponent is at 100% health, and you must wear him down, so strike multiple times.
Good advice. What is your military background?
Sorry what di you mean clap on them?
@@JTB-THFC Cup your hands a little bit and slap their ears (cup + slap = clap). By cupping your hand you're creating a little pocket of air, and when you slap someone's ears, that air can go in their ear canal and rupture their ear drum. Clapping on someone's ears is disorientating, which allows you to do follow up techniques, such as eye gouges, knees to the groin etc...
@danman6612 many thanks. Do you have a link to a video for this technique?
@danman6612 many thanks mate. Haven't had a fight in decades so hopefully I won't need to use it!
5. Uncage your inner animal. We all have it. Fight like your life depends on it, because it might.
When Nature kicks in with adrenaline, your assailant deserves everything he/she gets. Be ruthless. Make them rue the day they decided to attack you. Gouge, kick, bite, stomp, kick groins, and slam their ugly heads on the concrete.
My parents taught me to fight dirty. Never instigate a fight, but make sure you finish it.
And I put this into practice with a school bully, who, for unknown reasons , decided to taunt and abuse me. I ignored the words, but I knew she was working up to an attack, and one lunch time, WHAM! She came from behind.
I still relish that day of over 60 years ago. She'd never expected someone to fight back, probably because nobody ever had.
I pulled out some of her hair from the temple area, which hurts like hell.
Then threw her to the ground and rubbed her face in gravel. How she screamed! Music to the ears.
I told her if she ever bullied anyone again, I'd kick her head in. She ran off howling...,and never came near me again.
Mum and Dad were right!
I agree a lot with that, it's very useful, I brought out my inner monster several times with men bigger and stronger than me,and it works perfectly,I told them " you can't do anything to me because I'm going to kill you first " I repeated that several times looking with no fear at all at their eyes, with a very angry voice , and I was convince totally that I will kill them before they could cause me any harm. I didn't had weapons,or training,I'm an small size woman, but those guys looked at me terrified and paralyzed, because they knew that some way some how I was ready to kill them and they knew it.
@@ThePlatafsuch an amazing story
@@AmorDivino-e5q love it!
@@AmorDivino-e5q As Charles Dickens said, " There is something about an angry woman that few men care to provoke.".
Well done!
Probably the one “self-defensive” tip I could add is to just avoid places that put you in danger altogether: don’t go to biker bars, don’t get gas at night in a shady neighborhood, don’t walk through dark alleys, don’t park your car in dark spots with no lighting.
I don't think you'll be able to always avoid these places.
So basically, don't go to work. I am a care worker and can't choose not to work the late shift.
@@katarinatibai8396can u call security to meet at your car..tip if you have to..
And avoid certain demographics prone to violent behavior.
Most important: DO NOT go to NYC. Highly unlikely you get out un-harmed.
Thanks a lot Jason. I'm a daughter of a police officer myself, yet I feel like I don't know enough when I watch news and the horrible crimes committed everyday. Living in a populous country makes it even worse. These videos of yours are not just knowledgeable but also gives us girls the confidence we very much need. Kudos to you. From India.
Thank you Jason, for all the information you generously provide. Here are some suggestions those who are no longer able to escape by running or are less capable of defending themselves than they once were, may find useful.
Three principles. If a person cannot stand, they cannot fight. If a person cannot breathe, they cannot fight. If a person cannot see, they cannot fight.
If you are attacked by more than one person, attempt to 'herd' them together so it is difficult for more than one to attack you at the same time. (they get in each other's way).
Joint manipulation does much to compensate for a lack of strength.
Try to grab a finger and as forcefully and quickly as you are able, bend it the way it isn't designed to bend. Even if you are a 98lb weakling and he is a 300 lb weightlifter, this will break the finger, but you need to put everything you have into it. The same is true of all defensive moves. Give it all you got!
You can also put one hand on top of your opponent's wrist, the other underneath their elbow and as quickly and forcefully as you are able pull down on the wrist while lifting the elbow up and out. This will either break their elbow or dislocate their shoulder.
A 'knife' hand to the middle of the throat is more effective than a fist to the throat.
The further your opponent's arm is extended, the weaker it becomes. The less you extend your arms, the stronger they are.
It would be good to find a 'workout friend' so you both can practice these techniques.
I also suggest carrying a heavy cane with a u-shaped handle. This can be used to maintain distance by FORCEFULLY thrusting it into the chest or abdomen, the 'hook' can be used to manipulate their movements and balance or jerk a foot out from under them and of course the shaft can be used to strike--preferably hard surfaces such as the head, shin, etc. The farther down on the shaft you grip the cane, the harder the blow will be.
A cane is the only weapon one can legally carry anywhere.
Of course it is best to try and avoid 'dangerous' areas and, as much as possible, travel in groups and remember, when it comes to defending your life or the lives or others, there is no such thing as a 'dirty' move.
Thank you.
This is so dope!
Thank you!
Love the last line🔥.
Thanks!
I love watching self defense videos because you always get extra tips in the comments, thank you!
"You drive the same friend that my car drives..."
I lost it. 🤣🤣🤣
I think he was bullshitting him lol
I never look at my cellphone in public. I watch everything and everybody if possible Makes a big difference
That's great! Thanks for sharing, Carson- God bless!
For sure. Not related to self-defense but there was a woman in Phoenix just this week that was hit by a car while she was crossing the street in the crosswalk. Dashcam video caught the event and had she not been looking at her phone, she would very likely not have been hit. Unfortunately, the driver did not stop. Fortunately, her injuries were very minor.
@@JasonHansonSpyBriefingI grew up in NYC in the 70’s and have cerebral palsy and was an easy target for being mugged(slow runner). So my best survival tool was to anticipate danger by watching body language. I then vacated the surroundings. The whole world are in their phones even at night on the street. Easy targets. This coming from someone who was the easiest target. Thanks for the videos

00:31- Where is that chart from?
There was this punk in traffic, who turned in front of me from the wrong lane. I beeped, he gave me the finger, then we started playing bumper tag. Mistakes on both sides here. When traffic stopped, I got out and he got out, (more mistakes, I could have gotten shot)(or him), and we stood face to face. He had a steering wheel lock on hand, I had nothing. He's yelling: "Bring it on, bitch!" So I kicked him in the head! (He wasn't that tall) This wasn't actually the best thing to do, but it just came to me in the moment. He falls into a moving lane of traffic, and trying to get up, he keeps stepping into his baggy pants, falling down repeatedly. Me and the other drivers were just kinda staring at this spectacle. That was about it, and he quit being physically aggressive, and just resorted to running his mouth about how badazs he was. I said: "I already knocked you down, what else you want?" He was just a rediculous piece of isht.
As I've gotten older, I've calmed down a lot, and try to be as peaceful as possible. My temper has always gotten me into trouble. So much so, that I was my own worst enemy. Insecure people make their own problems, attract trouble. "Be cool, fool!"
Slowing down at a gas station and you spot someone approaching you right away, just fine a new gas station.
How much do you fine them?
@@Mrphilharmonic1,000,000
ok fine
My last sketchy situation was a stairwell at a parking garage. Oddly enough I used the stairs because I didn't want to be isolated and situationally detached in an elevator. One guy was below and there was a guy quietly keeping pace with me from behind and up the stairs. I saw the guy down below look at the guy behind me. I guess the look was to call it off because nothing happened. I was aware of the guy behind me and the guy in front of me... I looked right at him. I think they were looking for easier prey.
My point, be confident and show no fear and you will be surprised at how well it works. To gain self-confidence Jason has real-world simple advice that works.
I love the blooper "you drive the same friend as my car drives!"
I pay attention to my surroundings, however, I have this ability in which I can feel bad energy. Walking home one afternoon I felt really bad energy coming from behind me, so I started walking in a silly manner, skipping then turning around to access my situation. There was a guy about 20 feet behind me. So, I kept up the goofy walk as I increased my speed and as soon as I could turned towards my destination which was blocked from his view by some bushes then ran like hell to my gated apartment complex.
The recommendation to target the face and neck areas on a larger opponent is exceptionally good advice. Body hits on a large person will have much less affect on your assailant than strikes to the head, neck or other critical areas that are not protected by muscle and/or fat.
The second story - WHY would you get out of your car??? Stay in the car make sure doors are locked and drive away to a safe place! Or if you're that low on gas - honk your horn repeatedly while calling 911.
I was going to ask this question but wanted to see if anyone else had already asked. I would NOT have left my car and was VERY surprised with Jason said he did.
You’ll get killed just waiting for 911 to pick up, your the only one that could save ur life, bad advice sir
Exactly what I was thinking
It’s a fake story to make a vid
Thank you. In my younger years travelling in Africa and walking the streets at night my head was 360 degrees. I dont know if i was lucky or developed a sense of awareness.
Thank you again! I watch all your self defense videos. I am an older woman, I have no one to practice with, but I replay the moves in my mind, hoping that will help.

The world is not that dangerous. At least not where I've lived all my 61 years, NYC (Staten Island). I haven't been assaulted since junior high school.
No mentions of wrestling and grappling tells me that you run first. This is self defense so running is the number one skill to train. But then there is having to bodyguard family members, becoming elderly or injured and folks learning to use grappling as the threat. in the 4 serious knife attacks i've survived i had to learn wrist control on the spot and how to move that attacker as a shield to prevent other stabs. Great content and it is 100% effective!
The most simple, direct, logical self defence lesson on TH-cam.
Hey Jason, great content! Even for me as an ex solider and ma teacher with 20 years of self defence experience , there is always new input. Wish I were living in the US to be able to attend one of your seminars... Blessings from Germany!
P.s. excuse my crappy english 😅
Good stuff! Thank you for sharing- God bless!
I'm an American. Your written English is better than a large majority of American citizens born in America. My wife is German and didn't start studying/speaking English at all until she was 14, and she has better written and spoken English than many Americans who can only speak English.
When someone does accost you while you're pumping gas, give them gas. Lots of gas.
Thanks for watching. God bless!
And offer them a helpful light.

My karate instructor told me in front of the class that no one will attack you. The way you walk across the parking lot says you are aware of everything around you.
Please sir, could you give some tips to the older and probably disabled people. You know this world is getting crazier by the day as well as anyone. So please help them too. Thank you for all of your videos and advise. Stay safe and God bless.
Thank you for this question. It’s important to you, me, and so many others!

Excellent Video. I would also recommend people not wear sandals or flip flops too. Wear shoes with laces or at least sturdy slip on shoes. It's easier to run in and you won't fall either. I personally think 90 percent of self defense is awareness and prevention. The other 10 percent is physical actions. I personally practice simple attacks. Also train with weapons. Simple strikes with hands, elbows, knees,, and feet are fine.
Or always wear crocs in sports mode
Gloves
Subbed. Lying on my lounge here in Australia at 10pm at night, both front and rear doors open and flyscreens unlocked I'm getting kind of nervous. Luckily it's a great neighbourhood.
Hi and thanks. Could you do some defense for seniors? I was very well trained in my youth but, even with that, I know I , and other seniors , need a different type of defense. And seniors are one of the top targets. Thanks.
Seniors look less out of place with canes. Seek a nice solid one; they do make canes intended for use as weapons.
When physical abilities are compromised, no shame is had by resorting to weapons. OC spray, a tactical pen, or even a firearm, makes a solid option where legal (and even where not.) Once selected, get training with your chosen implement(s.)
At that age, get yourself a gun for self defense, stun gun, pepper spray, or baton that you can use. Self-defense will be in your favor. You have nothing to lose. You may do your city a favor if you eliminate a crazy or criminal. Being elder citizen, the law will be in your favor.
@@Just1American1966 Thanks. I actually carry a cane and know how to use it for self defense. In my youth, I was the only white guy trained by a no kidding Shaolin monk. But, I obviously can't do all the work now. Still, with cane and training in fighting, all weapons, non traditional common items as weapons, I can do well. I am more concerned about seniors who don't have this background and could use tips. Thanks.
And I also feel like one of the most important self defense techniques is intelligence. Listen to your gut. If you feel like something bad is about to happen, get out of there. If someone is trying to fight you, always try running away first. There’s no point putting your body in danger if there’s other ways you can get out of that situation. Always carry some sort of self defense weapon on you. If it gets to that point where you have to fight, carrying pepper spray/a taser on you can give you a big advantage. And also obviously just avoid shady spots.
do you ever ship the gear ordered from your store? Or is it just a phishing expedition? Been waiting 2 months for an order.
2:33 "You drive the same friend that my car drives" lol. Gotta love Jason.
5:42 You can punch the groin as well. Groin strike is not limited to knee and kick strikes only. You can use punching and grabbing and squish those balls.
2:34 LOL you drive the same friend that my car drives. I thought i was the only one who mixed words up.
As always, Jason keeps it simple, yet effective

Every one of these videos is useful. Thank you Jason for all the time you take to educate us on multiple topics! 👍
Happy to hear that! Thank you too!
I’ve been in three real fights. One was in Galveston during a Mardi Gras party. This guy jumped me, I slammed him to the ground and hit him a few times until about 7-10 of his buddies pounced me-they had a bat, but my brother pulled me out before the bat hit me and we practiced our sprinting. One was in my house hanging out with the wrong people drinking tequila. Three of them jumped me. I knocked one out after we grappled all over my apartment. The other two I went nuts on throwing pieces of house hold items and a love seat at them. They all ran out. Two out of three of those fights I was jumped by multiple attackers and one group had a bat, Easton specifically.
My personal philosophy is; "There is no such thing as a fair or clean fight. Fight dirty if you must! Always do whatever it takes to defeat your enemy!!!! Always be defensive, never the aggressor.
It's interesting that I intuitively developed the same self defense methods you show on here.............In my early 20s I worked with a WWII vet who was a hand to hand instructor who taught me how to really throw and punch, where to hit etc. So my vocabulary is small but very affective......I've sparred with a few guys with Black Belts or 20 years younger and much more buff than me and they've tappedo ut immediately and never got a punch in, much to my shock. That was when I learned a few solid basic moves, assessing the threat and preparing mentally and physically, resolution, focus, action, precision, ferocity and heart will win most fights. I equate it to performing surgery...
I would think that in training being able to run is pretty handy...
Happy to sub..sending this vid to my daughters..thamks
Thank you for sharing your video. Tips are valuable and helpful.
Jason!
Man! Love your videos but THIS ONE is SO SPOT ON full of great examples and advice!
About your gas station incident > GOOD idea your getting out of the car!
When I go to an ATM even if it's a drive up > I get out of my car to make my transaction > because I DON'T want the change on a car blocking me from backing out AND another pulling up blocking me in front. I'd be so limited if stuck in my car at their mercy...
I'd be better able > not restricted outside the car.
Thanks and God bless.
Glad you love it! Thanks for watching and God bless you too!
While watching this, I couldn't help but think of the OODA loop. I've analyzed a couple of close calls that I've had with the OODA loop and it was enlightening. I'd like to see you do a video on that Jason.
It’s a good video a little rushed , as a person who has taught self defense for 4 decades this is good basic advice . Especially the last three things . 1 yes always starts with situational awareness, even though you just can’t keep the space . We call it urgent combat I have 3 1 plus hour videos on urgent combat training.
Never ever get out the car !!! Bad advice but other than that great vid . Keep them coming 👍🏻👍🏻💪🏻
Thanks 👍 Stay safe and God bless!
Remember: there’s always a weapon whether you see one or not. There’s always more than one person.
Speed, power and deception. Good luck out there men.
“You drive the same friend my car drives.” Lol adorable
Enjoying your videos I’m an LEO trying to figure out the best way for opening a door at night in a high crime area to let my little pansy dog out. I usually switch to my weak hand and have a flashlight mounted to a g17 with a high cap mag. I shine the porch which has motion lights and a driveway alarm then I fling the screen door out as I step back. Would a knife be a better idea or statistically just as deadly? Should I keep the g17 in my strong hand? Want to get your thoughts. I also have a lcp which is less caliber but almost impossible to grab away due to no barrel protruding. We have raccoons and Bears as well as criminals.
Doggy door
Be aware of your surroundings and it’s less likely someone will get the drop on you 😊
It looks like Jason has added onto the exterior of his log wall house, which has created several creative opportunities for him against uninformed intruders...it's like he's made kill boxes around his perimeter...he's one twisted guy, for sure.
Do you run courses in the UK?
Thank you Jason. You're a blessing to everyone.
I appreciate that. Thank you for watching!
I subbed because you have the courage and smarts to tell the truth about what's happening in society in the first 45 seconds of this video. Thank you.
3:22
Your advice seems solid but I’m an old man - I cannot flee from criminals. What do you suggest?
If violence is inevitable, I'm giving a palm strike either to the sternum or groin. Most amateurs are going for head strikes so I'm positioning myself for a lower strike.
I was at a gun point getting robbed 3 times in the past. Hollywood way actually worked as I did successfully disarm with that Jackie Chan move where he taught Chris Rock in Rush Hour movie (one hand on top, one hand bottom, twist; and gun is now in your hand). 3rd one didn’t workout but I did eventually come out ahead getting the weapon after some struggle. Fighting back probably had element of surprise, and probably had much luck I wasn’t shot; but Hollywood way worked out for me lol.
"The [Bureau of Criminal Apprehension] report says Minnesota saw a decrease in violent crime by 6.9% overall, and 8.2% in the metro area. It's the second year in a row that crime overall dipped statewide." -WCCO TV
5:55 very good advice imo. Unless you’re trained in Martial Arts don’t ever try to do kicks and fancy jumps, roundhouse kicks etc as you will only injure yourself.
Thank you. Excellent advice. Makes a lot of sense.

As a little old lady I think my best defense is to make as much noise as possible to get as much attention as possible, if only to get a medic called. I'm also a big believer in carrying a loud whistle.
1. most men after age 60 can not stand on one leg. 78 years old and I can still do it. If you can do that, aim for a shin with all your strength. If you can take a side step, then press your arm against your side, first forward, run past your opponent and take him out by hitting him in the side with your braced fist.
2. if you can not avoid using your hands, use the fat portion of your palm. If you use your knuckles against the opponent's head, you will injure yourself.
3. I didn't play pick up basket ball for exactly the same reason you were injured. Cannot be alert. My older brother got a broken nose from an attack in a pickup game.
4. If you have a group as an opponent, you attack and don't wait for the attack. In one instance, it was 7 against 1.I lined them up, one behind the other, and took out the alpha male who was in front. Fight over. In knife fighting class, I would attempt to put an inferior opponent between myself and the better opponent, the use a distraction against the weaker opponent. What kind of distraction?
I had a concealed second knife behind my back. Threw the knife in my hand to ground, knowing that the weaker opponent would watch the knife, then drew the second knife. The weaker opponent cried "not fair". As the instructor was lecturing how it was fair, I palmed a spent shotgun shell, knowing that the instructor would want to make an example of me. As he started to charge, I simply flipped the empty shell in the air and his eyes followed it. I was laughing! Never fight fair. Avoid grappling.
Senior traveling alone can only afford 1 thing. Should choose dash cam, cb radio or body cam?
Dash cam. It's the most practical. You're way more likely to be in a vehicle crash than be attacked on the street. A body cam isn't practical to be worn all the time and I don't know why you'd carry a CB radio when you have a cell phone, some cells even work with satellite these days.

Tip 1 carry whatever is legal to carry in your area and practice with it
Well, I mean, for the gas station situation, if you just pulled up and hadn’t even had a chance to get out to start pumping gas and someone was already approaching you, I would think driving away would be safer than getting out to confront them. I don’t really see how you would be “trapped” in your car. Being in a locked car separates you from your attacker and it’s a much faster getaway option. Even if they were to break a window, I would still think you could pull away from them. If your car is so on E that you can’t go even a mile to get away from someone, that’s just a bad idea to let it get that low to begin with, right?
In terms of you almost getting kidnapped…that kinda felt like a reach. It sounds like you were about to be mugged but I’m not sure how 2 guys approaching you without a vehicle were going to abduct you and for what purpose. Not saying it isn’t possible but it sounds like they were more likely to rob you than straight up abduct you. Yes, I know some men abduct other men, but it seems like it would be really difficult to do without a vehicle, even with 2 attackers.
Not trying to be a jerk and if you were in the CIA, you know a lot more about this than I do, I’m just reacting to what I’ve seen in the video so far.
Point 1 - " make you safer in the crazy world we live in " more than half of the world doesn't legally allow guns unless you're a vip.
Point 2 - maybe you should rephrase that to " the crazy country we live in" because the number of armed crimes is the highest in your beautiful country.
The commies haven't completely disarmed us Law abiding citizens yet, but they're trying hard!
I don't take anti-gun people seriously, especially foreign ones.
Do you have any advice for fear, I just tend to freeze in a fight situation, probably due to overthinking. Also I'm 6ft and 200kg, I'd probably end up hurting someone bad if I went nuts and over here that's not a good idea
You’re letting the fear of guilt take you over. You seem like a really good person who doesn’t want to hurt anyone. You don’t have to worry about hurting someone who’s trying to hurt you. Let that fear amp you up instead of shut you down. Doing damage when you’re protecting yourself is nothing to be ashamed of.
Thank you, sir, for what you do.
You are very welcome!God bless you!
You're my hero, Jason

I was coming back to my house pretty vulnerable on my bicycle in wet beach gear and my neighbour's dogs ran at me causing me to fall off my bike slightly hurt my leg. I firmly pointed this dog attack out to my neighbour who then became extremely aggressive, came right into my face at my doorstep, accusing me of threatening him, saying 'what r u going to do about it' saying I was 'acting like a woman' etc shaking and used very foul abusive & threatening language to bully & intimidate me. This was prolongued, but as I was pretty vulnerable wearing next to nothing and holding a bicycle, I feared he would attack me and I wouldn't be able to defend myself. I just tried to calm it down and just hoped he would back off as he eventually did.
I feel he got one over me and although I got the dog warden to speak to him & there has been no follow-up I was very uncomfortable with the ordeal.
