I often get asked why I go hiking up mountains and the answer is for the extraordinary days you experience like this one. A very special mountain hike in extraordinary conditions ! Days like these don't come round very often but they are very special when they do :)

Wow that was amazing. Always love the content you put out Murray and Gerry’s sense of humour too. As I said previously, I always tell all the tourists coming over to Scotland that they have to watch your content. Production is better than any tv programs trying to imitate you 👍🏼😎

They don't come around very often John but 2021 seemed to be the year of the inversion, so many fantastic days above the clouds were enjoyed (stay tuned for two more over the next few weeks!!)

Wow, just wow, absolutely stunning images and that inversion, speechless. I always feel slightly sorry for people who don't walk. They really don't know what they are missing and what mother nature can produce. And you don't have to go half way round the world for beautiful scenery.
It certainly was an exceptional day Tony - I was lucky enough to experience many inversions in 2021 (the best one may be this one or possible topped by the video thats up next week). Always a magical experience when you are high above the clouds :)

Absolutely stunning!! What a special day in the mountains, the fog bows were unreal! It really must have felt like walking in heaven that day, at least a hill walkers heaven!🥰. Twas wasn’t bad for inversions :) this week looks like it’s continuing into 2022 - I’ll be spitting teeth come the weekend as I’m grounded with a gammy knee at the moment - looks good for the weekend though - hope you get out and about sir 👍👍🙏

A wonderful walk and stunning images of the inversion. Anyone who goes walking knows that there are so many special times on the hills that one just wants to experience these moments over and over. Like travel more generally I find it so addictive. The more that I enjoy, the more I want to enjoy.
It’s such a great time to be high on the mountain when inversion conditions are about :)

Excellent traverse and your final summit of Stob Coire Screamach was my final Munro in 13th December 1997. So lovely to see you up there. This was an added Munro when they added a further 7 to the list I was following at that time was 277 Munro’s,. Great memories Murray and great to watch.

Another stunning mountain day above the clouds Murray. That fog halo was amazing. 👍 Just uploaded my wee vlog from Ben Lomond on 19th December with temperature inversion this week, although there were no fog bows that day!
Fantastic - there were some amazing conditions before Christmas - (see next few weeks videos ;). Ben Lomond looked amazing above the clouds)

Absolutely glorious! This is why I look forward to Wednesdays. Great to see Jerry again. The humour and enjoyment the two of you share is so infectious that I smiled throughout and laughed aloud at the reference to the river gambler on the Ballachulish ferry. That’s a great song. Ever thought of selling fresh air in a can?(cf. last part of same song ) You could make a fortune to match the profit Jerry made by selling his luxurious tent. Thanks for a brilliant blog.

What a fantastic days walking with your mate. Really enjoyed it and I bet you did more.
I spent a stunning day in the Brecon Beacons Wednesday, foggy in the valley's, yet above 500 m you got the full sun and clear blue sky without a single cloud all day. T shirt weather until descending back into the valley's. Moreover, a stunning clear cold sunset with crimson mauves and deep orange on the horizon. Beautiful!
That sounds amazing , I've seen lots of pictures this week from down south - looked great conditions for getting above the clouds :)

Awesome is a word which I find is grossly overused. Not on this occasion though. Truly awesome.
Great video as usual Murray..The zig zags are brilliant..I did it last month with the SHG..Different ball game with a heavy back pack and ice.It takes it from a nice wee scramble to a very intense scramble..I really enjoyed it even though the adrenaline was flowing😂My profile picture is me on it😁

Bidean is such an amazing place, I kept going back there once I first discovered it, and plenty of easy lower routes to get a decent view, although care obviously required if continuing and traversing along the top ridges,
so good seeing the inversion and looked like a really magical day for all involved,
thanks for sharing these amazing videos and bringing back some memories.
Its a fantastic mountain and as you mention so many various routes up and down the mountain - one of the finest mountains in Scotland :)

Absolutely magical. I've had great days in Glen Coe, and I've seen fog bows and Brokken Spectres, but not all in the same day like this, epic stuff, Makes me want to head north tomorrow, but we're going to Derbyshire instead :)
We were so lucky to be able to experience all these phenomenon and for such a long time on this hike , it was an exceptional day :) hope you have fun in Derbyshire:)
