I hope not. It makes me happy thinking about people sitting on consoles, trying to move units, and worrying about their precious "profit". If you're super concerned, talk to your local gamestop. I called one near my house, and they said they would not turn anyone away for pre-orders day of. So if you watch the Nintendo direct from the parking lot or even inside of the store on 4/2, then you can put in a pre-order regardless of how many units they're going to get. That's my plan. They may tell you you're in like "batch 2" or "batch 3", and you might have to wait a little bit longer post launch, but you won't give some scumbag the money lol
Nintendo has only had 2 strikes: Virtual Boy was a massive mistake, Wii U was a let down (the games were good), but the console was just not great, too many gaps between games, and more support was going to the 3DS.
No need, they will have 7 million unites ready for launch, and they plan on having 20 million ready by the end of the year. Let the scalpers waste their money, it will be habitually restocked everywhere. Just get friendly with a GameStop employee and find out when a not so busy store gets restocks and it should be easy as fk to get one.

All my switch games over 200 of them are on the eshop or digital. I hope they all can be brought over to the switch 2 :) All Nintendo has to do is sell the switch 2 at start is sell it through the Nintendo store and you have to be a online member and they can use your ip address to one console per ip address. ONLY SELL IT THROUGH THE ESHOP FOR THE FIRST 6 MONTHS! That would give enough time to get to those who want it out to them and stop scammers/scalpers!
That's not good for sales for something that isn't a limited production run. Scalpers are always a portion of the revenue when it comes to scarcity or novelty w high demand.
Your Switch games should transfer. I'm pretty sure the exceptions to the rule are Labo (different size console), Ring Fit Adventure (ring uses old style connection to JoyCon) and games that require the IR sensor. As far as selling through NSO: That would just frustrate people more, and retail sales are expected. Maybe they can offer that option *in addition to* retail sales, but I wouldn't completely replace retail sales with NSO.

I'm super curious if it will take carts, and if new carts will look different or just be bigger? The biggest let down for me on the Switch 1 was games not being 'complete on cart' or having mandatory downloads/updates. Give us the choice! Offline gamers exist. Online gamers exist.
Honestly, I have doubts about the Switch 2 reaching a total of 80 million units sold. If Nintendo continues to support the original Switch alongside the new model, I believe the overall sales could drop to around 65 million. The dual support could fragment the market, leading to less focus on the newer model and potentially slowing down overall sales.
I will get day1 for sure! Also excited for the backwards compatibility as I have 40 games physical and 650 digital. I know a few won’t work but I don’t own ring fit and labo anyways. Hoping $399 price point. Most excited games coming are main Nintendo games as usual and the 3rd party support of more modern games. Rd2,Halo,COD,gta 4-6,forza,ect…. Also I hope the top usbc port will support an external hd like the steam deck does as I will need at least 4-6tb of storage for the games as I only by main line physical.
I think Switch 1 will still sell units after 2 launches and reach the 160 million mark. The NES was sold until 1995 (several years after the SNES launched) I will probably buy another just because it feels so good to unbox.

Ima little disappointed by the lack of a oled screen but im waiting for a bundle from either the new mario kart or Pokémon legends z-a. I also hope that if the market is flooded with consoles that the new switch and bundles come at a reasonable price

I was definitely going to purchase the Switch 2… Then I found out it doesn’t have OLED. I bought the Switch 1 OLED, my first switch, when it first came out. I’m sure in a few years they will release a switch 2 OLED or advance or something. Probably even a switch 2 lite.

Do you really think it’ll take 4 years for an OLED version of the Switch 2? I figured maybe a few months but I guess that doesn’t make much sense now. I was actually gonna try and hold out for an OLED version, but if it’s gonna be longer than 5 or 6 months then I may just trade in the launch one later on.
yeah, I bought the OLED a few days ago and I am enjoying it so much they are saying that the Switch 2 isn't gonna be released with Oled which kinda sucks maybe the Oled version later on but I think that will make the Switch 2 price a bit too expensive idk but I am enjoying my switch OLED

I’m going to do what I can so my wife and I can get one on launch. Not going to wait for an OLED, but this time we are upgrading when an OLED launches. We didn’t last time and still have our launch switches and they are showing their age.
I'm sure Switch 2 talk definitely has effect on Switch 1 sales but I'm betting odds are high that it holds at a lower sales consistency to cruise into 160k PS2 territory for the all time sales champ!? Especially as prices drop a bit and as an entry price point for younger kids hit with Switch 2 marketing.. next Christmas and black Friday if nothing else. Time will tell eventually.

As far as consoles go. All I play is a Nintendo Switch OLED. And I have enjoying it more each time I turn on my Nintendo Switch. I will go between that and my Gaming PC. There have been a lot of really good games that have come out from Nintendo. I just use my PS5 as media player at this point because of this. I am really excited for the Nintendo Switch 2!
i know one thing Nintendo doesnt fuck around with people trying to get over on them so this will be interesting to see unfold, I really hope that Nintendo does something with their online software pretty much like Xbox does well. Lets face it when it comes to online community OS and software layout Xbox has it down pat. Need better options for online play friend lists etc. The Eshop deffintely needs a complete overhaul as well as the download cap speeds for it. Just a overall rehaul of the OS and more options. Switch 2 has the ability to become even greater with some slight improvements here and there for the fans and now developers should have a way easier time making games for the software now. Only time will tell and I hope we see some awesome improvements overall with the Switch 2 and its capabilities. Built in microphone access with the OS not just with the games themselves, better online and friend list access/options, and for the love of god let us customize our OS/UIs. The PS3 had awesome options regardling this. Let us make our system and layout the way we want.
Mario Kart isn’t enough to make me wanna buy a switch 2. I will be on the side of waiting since I don’t need to buy day 1 models that usually have bugs and recalls. I will enjoy my OG switch still lots of games I have for it to enjoy.

Bought the S1 OLED for last Xmas for my child. And me ;) The first console for us being big Steam Couch Co-Op fans. Might buy a refined S2 OLED (Hall-Effect Joy-Cons?) for Xmas after it's release but right now, I even doubt that. Mayyybe IF enough S2 bangers and better bundles (with PHYSICAL games inside the box) get released. The only point in buying a small evolution of a console is to keep the shareholders ergo the leaderboard satisfied enough to not panic and to invest and innovate wisely. We all want competition, not Sega, Nintendo and Microsoft controllers in the Sony Online-Shop ;) The S1 ist good enough for some more years or maybe even for good. Upscaling, AI, though still far from perfect, are here to stay. S1 games are good, so many to choose from...Nintendo youtubers don't even have the time to play them... and STILL expensive to obtain. What I WILL follow and buy for the S2, though, along it's ENTIRE life cycle, are exceptional titles in good and used condition. Just to not overpay again later the moment I want to play them. Paying 80 EUR for a used Mario 3-D All-Stars still leaves a bad taste in my mouth, every time I'm playing it and trying to have some fun.

What I want to see is MH4U HD remaster with new Quests, monsters, items, & much more. I don't love all MH games & enjoy the old style ones over the simple newbie style they got going for it. Rise was ok but old style is what I miss. I still got all the 3ds, wii, wii u & switch MH but MH4U is my baby. I still play that to this day & wish they would bring that back again exclusive for Switch as Sony already has their exclusive MH games so we need some as well.
If Nintendo wants to attach the best selling game console to there marketing they need to lower each switch model by 100 dollars.the retailer gets 100 dollars of each console sale Nintendo gets the rest. Nintendo can afford to lose 100$ profit off each unit for a year or so.

I fell out of the Nintendo hype simply because the games. Like what’s good on Nintendo besides first party games (which is same ol same ol) when u can get a pc handheld like steam deck that can already play so much n it actually runs good with so many different titles and isn’t limited to maybe a handful of first party Nintendo games. Just isn’t worth all the money only for a few titles. And that is exactly the reason I haven’t owned a console since I tired pc gaming (I like using what I pay for n not let it sit and collect dust only for one or two games.

The switch is a handheld it’s not a console. I can play my steam deck on my tv as well but the steam deck is still a handheld. A console is what The Wii,Gamecube,n64,xbox,playstations are. There has always been a distinct difference between a handheld & a console & the switch is a handheld & plays like one.
Handheld games have controllers that plug into a gaming device separate from the screen on the body of the machine so that games can be played on television sets?
It is a hybrid. A new type of console introduced with the Switch 1. You could plug your PSP to a TV but it doesnot make it a hybrid, where is the included controller(s)? Where are the bespoke optimisation for TV mode? Switch has all of that. On those handhelds you are just displaying the exact same low res image on your TV. I agree the hardware is completely mobile hardware but the console-type is hybrid. Steam Deck has PC hardware with a screen and battery but it is a handheld.

I'll be honest I've been playing games on the Nintendo Switch since it was released in the second half of my sophomore year of high school. I'm ready for Nintendo Switch 2.
Ima little disappointed by the lack of a oled screen but im waiting for a bundle from either the new mario kart or Pokémon legends z-a. I also hope that if the market is flooded with consoles that the new switch and bundles come at a reasonable price

I was definitely going to purchase the Switch 2… Then I found out it doesn’t have OLED. I bought the Switch 1 OLED, my first switch, when it first came out. I’m sure in a few years they will release a switch 2 OLED or advance or something. Probably even a switch 2 lite.

Do you really think it’ll take 4 years for an OLED version of the Switch 2? I figured maybe a few months but I guess that doesn’t make much sense now. I was actually gonna try and hold out for an OLED version, but if it’s gonna be longer than 5 or 6 months then I may just trade in the launch one later on.
yeah, I bought the OLED a few days ago and I am enjoying it so much they are saying that the Switch 2 isn't gonna be released with Oled which kinda sucks maybe the Oled version later on but I think that will make the Switch 2 price a bit too expensive idk but I am enjoying my switch OLED
@ I just thought the Switch 2 having an OLED screen at launch would make sense. Granted the base Switch 2’s screen will be better than the base Switch 1’s screen I’m sure but still. Either way it’s no big deal. I’ll see how it looks when it gets shown off or when people have videos up

@sumtxdude9974 it was def one of the cheapest but certainly highest end quality for DVD players- add the gaming possibility to it for the kids and the parents were basically left with more Nintendo again or a gaming system that also played DVDs and didn't need batteries for a remote controller. The choice was obvious I'm sure! Actual genius move for Sony back in the day!

As far as consoles go. All I play is a Nintendo Switch OLED. And I have enjoying it more each time I turn on my Nintendo Switch. I will go between that and my Gaming PC. There have been a lot of really good games that have come out from Nintendo. I just use my PS5 as media player at this point because of this. I am really excited for the Nintendo Switch 2!

i know one thing Nintendo doesnt fuck around with people trying to get over on them so this will be interesting to see unfold, I really hope that Nintendo does something with their online software pretty much like Xbox does well. Lets face it when it comes to online community OS and software layout Xbox has it down pat. Need better options for online play friend lists etc. The Eshop deffintely
needs a complete overhaul as well as the download cap speeds for it. Just a overall rehaul of the OS and more options. Switch 2 has the ability to become even greater with some slight improvements here and there for the fans and now developers should have a way easier time making games for the software now. Only time will tell and I hope we see some awesome improvements overall with the Switch 2 and its capabilities. Built in microphone access with the OS not just with the games themselves, better online and friend list access/options, and for the love of god let us customize our OS/UIs. The PS3 had awesome options regardling this. Let us make our system and layout the way we want.

Bought the S1 OLED for last Xmas for my child. And me ;) The first console for us being big Steam Couch Co-Op fans. Might buy a refined S2 OLED (Hall-Effect Joy-Cons?) for Xmas after it's release but right now, I even doubt that. Mayyybe IF enough S2 bangers and better bundles (with PHYSICAL games inside the box) get released. The only point in buying a small evolution of a console is to keep the shareholders ergo the leaderboard satisfied enough to not panic and to invest and innovate wisely. We all want competition, not Sega, Nintendo and Microsoft controllers in the Sony Online-Shop ;) The S1 ist good enough for some more years or maybe even for good. Upscaling, AI, though still far from perfect, are here to stay. S1 games are good, so many to choose from...Nintendo youtubers don't even have the time to play them... and STILL expensive to obtain. What I WILL follow and buy for the S2, though, along it's ENTIRE life cycle, are exceptional titles in good and used condition. Just to not overpay again later the moment I want to play them. Paying 80 EUR for a used Mario 3-D All-Stars still leaves a bad taste in my mouth, every time I'm playing it and trying to have some fun.

I hope Nintendo Switch 2 and it games is as cheap as possible and in a better condition than Nintendo Switch 1 because we don't live near/hardly ever go near game stores and we don't live in a place with lots of money so we usually need to ave money for more important things and I can't ask my brothr to go get me another just anytime not even just joycons and hope NSO is better on Nintendo Switch 2 too. I like that Switch one games including classics on NSO will be playable on Switch 2 because every time we get a new Nintendo system it gets harder for us to play past Nintendo systems and that will include Switch 1 and I want Switch 2/Mario Kart on day one.

Like what’s good on Nintendo besides first party games (which is same ol same ol) when u can get a pc handheld like steam deck that can already play so much n it actually runs good with so many different titles and isn’t limited to maybe a handful of first party Nintendo games. Just isn’t worth all the money only for a few titles. And that is exactly the reason I haven’t owned a console since I tired pc gaming (I like using what I pay for n not let it sit and collect dust only for one or two games.

The switch is a handheld it’s not a console. I can play my steam deck on my tv as well but the steam deck is still a handheld. A console is what The Wii,Gamecube,n64,xbox,playstations are. There has always been a distinct difference between a handheld & a console & the switch is a handheld & plays like one.
Handheld games have controllers that plug into a gaming device separate from the screen on the body of the machine so that games can be played on television sets?
It is a hybrid. A new type of console introduced with the Switch 1. You could plug your PSP to a TV but it doesnot make it a hybrid, where is the included controller(s)? Where are the bespoke optimisation for TV mode? Switch has all of that. On those handhelds you are just displaying the exact same low res image on your TV. I agree the hardware is completely mobile hardware but the console-type is hybrid.
Steam Deck has PC hardware with a screen and battery but it is a handheld.
