The fact that games like Ape Escape were automatically disqualified from being on this console because Sony insisted on using the original controller model is pretty nuts
Yeah, it's such a shame. You'd have thought they'd want to show the original Playstation at its best, and the original Dual Analog was such a leap forward that it's still recognisable as a modern controller nearly 30 years later.
@@alexcharles8541Honestly, it was one of the most unique 3D platformers I’ve ever played also compared to many 3D games on the PS1, Ape Escape is quite playable.
Sony’s main issue with their brand has always been that their biggest legacy exclusive titles are made by third parties. If Sony could consistently brand themselves off of Crash, Spyro, Tekken, and MGS, they’d be so much more interesting, but they barely get referenced or used in PS stuff anymore because of how long it’s been since they could leverage them.
@Fizzsama so what a reference to their truck load old of IP's that they haven't done anything with and just leveraged off to third party studios is suddenly fine just because 1 of their studios managed to give a shit about them?

The absolute craziest part about the ROM mismatch is that, as Caddicarus pointed out in his old PS Classic video, if you plug in a USB keyboard and press Esc, you can bring up a debug menu and force all the ROMs to be NTSC with the flip of an option. I understand nothing of what this decision was supposed to accomplish.
Dude I have one of these things and have never heard that. Spent a while screwing with the thing to emulate some other stuff on it, even soldered the board lol how have I not heard about this? You just made my day
@@nisnast the original Revelations Persona is still a rather niche game that had never been re-released prior, the disc still goes for around $500, and is rather overlooked compared to the PSP remaster
@@jaidens.g.1920 i mean, while the exact american ps1 version (with a bunch of cut content) has never been rereleased otherwise, the superior japanese version was localized and brought to the west on the psp. its honestly kinda insane to me that atlus decided to rerelease revelations in any form before ever doing the same for the psp version
GTA 1 on the playstation WAS a massive deal, I'm a lot older than Scott and can tell you it was incredible at the time, it's definitely a definitive PS1 game for me
Vita TV is from the same era, same form factor and same pricepoint, which completely invalidated it. Adrenaline has enough oomph to give 2x speedup on hotkeys, plus you get vita and psp functions, plus expandable USB storage and full inbuilt support for DS4. PS classic was doomed either way.
@@Sneaky_racoon_sly I miss my oldschool Original PS3 I had back in 2008, that thing was an amazing media center, could play all my burned cd roms, my sd cards, my external hard drives, and ps1-ps3 games. Then I pawned it off after a few years cuz i needed money
@@Robin0928 On its own, it sucks, but with something like Autobleem or Project Eris, it rules. Mine is full with so many great PS1 games, and even SNES, GameBoy and all that. It makes for a great emulation device.
This will always hold a special place in my heart not because this is a great console, but because my grandmother got me this as a Christmas gift when it was brand new. I felt so bad she spent so much money on it, especially after it was marked down 80% two months later
Slight correction regarding PAL vs NTSC: PAL games weren't purposely slowed down - that's actually a result of running a game with NO adjustments. Imagine having an event that's set to happen every 60 frames by US or JP developers. In NTSC region, it's gonna take 1 second for it to happen. In PAL region, it's gonna take 1.2 seconds (50 frames in one second and then extra 10 frames from next second). When adjustments were made, the game was made FASTER, to negate those changes.
That was one of the deciding factors for me to never get a PS Classic. THPS2 is easily my most played PS1 game, and the lack of it made me less eager to buy it.
@@HearMeLearn Yes. I've played half way thru Half Life on mine, along with ports of quake, doom, perfect dark, and such, it runs a bunch of PSP titles pretty ok, is alright at some N64 stuff, and can run some PS1 titles upscaled a bit. Driver games can be played without frame rate crashing into the single digits
Honestly the most value this thing has besides hacking is the fact that it's the easiest way to play the first Persona since physical copies are crazy expensive and the only thing it's been ported to is the PSP.
That's how I felt about those video game themed box subscriptions that come with chotchkies. I had a subscription to one years ago, and every month, it was like "Huh, that's neat to look at for about five seconds, and then into the trash it goes.". I don't think any of these mini consoles will wind up in the trash, personally.
The PS1 Classic was just evidence how Sony didn't care anymore. Especially about its legacy, its not Last of Us, Spider Man, God of War rinse and repeat for several generations now. They're literally in the Xbox One Phase of their brand.
They stopped caring about their brand after the PS2. They figured after it's ginormous success that people will buy literally anything with the word PlayStation slapped on it and with the exception of the Vita they're unfortunately right
@@wiggx018i would say after PS3 actually. They still had pretty good original IPs like infamous, demon souls, uncharted, resistance, killzone, and little big planet
I’m still waiting on Saturn Dreamcast N64 and PS2 minis but we’ll probably never get them Sega said already that they are not releasing anymore minis I’ve been blessed to see and have all in gaming from 1980-Now I have every console and tons of games what a life of gaming throughout 5 decades for me
@ I already know hence what I said please read carefully thanks I’ve seen and have all from 1980-Now I have every console and tons of games what a life of gaming throughout the decades
Same, I'd love a Dreamcast Mini, especially if it came with a functional VMU. I didn't have a Dreamcast when it was new, but played it at friends' houses and always wanted one. The PS2 Mini seems like something I could make, but it would be more fun to have an official Sony version with nice case. I don't really have any nostalgia for the N64, and I feel like the games didn't age well.
You had to be there. It obviously doesn't hold up today, but it was the launch game (along with Ridge Racer) that really sold the system to early adopters. They put them up against Saturn's Virtua Fighter and Dayton USA and were more impressive visually. I'm glad they remembered to put it on there, if only as a nod to Playstation's history.
I mean, it was important to the PS1. Aged like milk in real time and was quickly supplanted by literally dozens of other 3D fighters like Tekken, Bloody Roar, Soul Blade, Tobal, Dead or Alive, Ehrgeiz, Psychic Force, Bushido Blade...and others, but it did have it's point in the console's history. I just think Sony massively oversells it because unlike many of the titles I listed, freaking nobody talks about Battle Arena Toshinden.
I'm old enough to remember that Battle Arena Toshinden was "THE" big deal PSX game at first. Sofia was even PlayStation's official mascot for a little while.
Bought mine for really cheap, hacked it and it now is constantly plugged into a monitor in my work desk. I actually use it a lot now that I think about it. Totally worth it for the 30-35 bucks I paid for it like 5 years ago.

If they added Parappa the Rapper and Um Jammer Lammy, I feel like it'd make the PS1 Classic at _least_ on some level of buyable since those are certified classics, and UJL has BRILLIANT multiplayer, but they really dropped the ball on it
I bought the PlayStation Classic at launch for $100, then it went down to $60 so I just returned. I bought it again on clearance for like $12 and it’s still in the box 😂
Dude I would KILL for a Sega Dreamcast Mini. For as short the original system's shelf life was, it really had some amazing games that I'd love to revisit
I have one. They're ridiculously easy to hack - and now I wish I had more because I've set up a pretty incredible game line up. Lovely little emulation device.
I honestly love the idea that Nintendo only made the NES Mini cause the Wii U was tanking that bad and they needed something to sell, and boy sell did that console did, making even Sony want to give it a try
@ definitely I don’t think ones coming anytime soon. I’ve still got my original which is nice and I did preorder the Analogue fpga one that’s coming out. Still enjoyed these mini consoles haha
I got one of the minis, then my GF bought me a full vintage Commodore 64 setup, including monitor. Sadly, I realized that it was fun for a few hours, but the games on the C64 are pretty rough, and I have more interesting things to do than go back and play with BASIC. It looks neat on my desk, but overall, I wish I'd waited and bought the Maxi. And god yes, I hate that name with a passion. Sounds like I'm talking about a feminine hygiene product.
I paid $50 for mine on ebay when the modding scene got really good with it. It was worth it to me at that price cause of so many great memories with my dad growing up. Mine is fully modded with all of the great games I grew up with and made it a true Ps1 Classic such as games like Spider-Man, Crash Team Racing, The Spyro Trilogy, Crash Bandicoot Trilogy, Crash Bash, and many more. Games that should have been on there already and could have been easily licensed out if Sony cared. Mine is connected to the same TV as the Wii U. Revisiting Classics like Army Men:Sarge's Heroes and Fighting Force has been a Win for me
Yeah it never occurred to me that the massive PS1 library ensured that almost everybody wouldve had different experiences playing it with their own memories and fond titles. As much as we like to sing the praises of FF7, Tekken 3, MGS 1& 2, Gran Turismo or Symphony of the Night, how likely was it that all of these titles were played by every single PS1 owner out there?
You're so right. I remember playing an Army Men game, a random motocross game, hydro thunder, a wily coyote game, a flintstones bowling game that my friend loved, and a handful of others on top of the staples like Crash, Spyro, Spiderman, Gran Turismo etc. Everyone's house I went to had something different. Digimon games, fighting games, space shooters, ridge racer, star wars, medal of honor, resident evil, ape escape, syphon filter, castlevania, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Chrono Cross and any number of other RPGs, arcade ports, and original concepts given first life via innovative 3D graphics. It was nuts. I first tried Spiderman at a furniture store lol these things were spreading so wide it was great. But a universal experience it was not, and that was what made it special.
Nah, it wouldve been insanely hard to get the proper games list for it. Sports games wouldve been near impossible due to both music and player licensing (probably The Show if anything would be included since its Sony) Grand theft auto wouldve been off the table due to the remasters coming soon after Kingdom Hearts would probably be iffy since they still sell the old games via compilations Guitar Hero couldnt be sniffed The littany of licensed games would barely be scratched (Lego Games, Battle for Bikini Bottom, Simpsons Hit and run, Star Wars Battlefront etc.) The list would be a weird mishmash of games that would scratch itches but would have huge holes too
Genuinely narrowing down the PS2 library to a list of 20-30 games that adequately represent the experience is impossible. There are too many good games.
I love my SNES Classic. It fills me with joy to know that I can just plug this baby in and play a great selection of old school nostalgia games from my childhood.
This time last year, according to my 2024 Diary, I put my Mini S/NES/MD Consoles but took them down done days later as the mrs said they were a too cool to sell.
i know it's asking too much but i would super into something like this if the controller was wireless. Because otherwise i can have a better experience with my laptop and a controller, cool as the novelty factor of these is. My couch isn't that close to my tv, you know?
I mean tbf the Nintendo ones were basically just crutches for the company until the Switch came out and proved it was successful. Once that happened, they migrated to the NSO emulators
Its crazy that the best thing to come out of this was the animated trailer for it. Chemical brothers playing while king from tekken grapples a dinosaur.
If you have one of these things and have not modded it with Autobleem, you’re missing out on the machine’s best potential. I use mine to run MAME, NES, SNES, GEN, SCD, 32X, NeoGeo, and PlayStation games and it’s incredible. Without the mod it hardly seems worthwhile, but with it, it’s top-tier. A lot of people think the NES and SNES Classics are the same because you can mod those, but they lack the power the PS Classic has, so emulation of other consoles is limited/worse. This thing is an incredible deal even at $100.
Odd how Wipeout was missing. When the original PlayStation came out, Wipeout was a huge deal too. Even if it was released on both Pc and Saturn as well.
I remember taking LSD in high school back in the late '90s, had a great trip, then came home while still seeing things, and playing Wipeout XL. Listening to the Xpander music track by Sasha while racing and feeling like an absolute god on full speed not hitting walls was so fun.
Wipeout was awesome. One thing I always found interesting about was that it supported multiplayer, but it required individual consoles, copies of the game, and TVs; along with link cables between said consoles, to get it to work.
It almost seemed like sony knew the games would go over like a fart in an elevator, and subsequently just left the security doors wide open. Fine by me I still play mine time to time after it was hacked three ways from Sunday.
Once I found out it was running PAL versions of the games and that the game lineup was subpar to begin with I waited until it inevitably wound up on clearance to get one.
The only proper reason to get the PlayStation Classic is for Revelations: Persona (Personal 1). That game goes for hundreds of dollars on its own due to it being in such high demand (obviously for being the first game in the Shin Megami Tensei Persona sub-series) and having such a limited quantity of copies made. Atlas had a habit of doing low-print runs in the West during the 5th and 6th Console gen for any of their games. Only enough to make a minor profit off the games, and never bothering to make more even if it sold well enough to justify second or third runs.
@@batmanbud2 the PS1 version of Persona 1 is notably censored and did remove the alternate Snow Queen Quest storyline, but it does preserve the original sound design and OST, which imo is far superior to the reworked soundtrack of the PSP version. Either version are still worth playing imo, P1 is my 3rd favorite game in the series
It's kinda cool how they try to slip that in whenever they rerelease that game. The last collection they released had that screenshot on the store page, at least on the switch version.
I’d love to buy one of these for $20. Unfortunately I checked both Amazon and eBay and the prices for new ones are currently at $150 USD for new ones. Pre-owned ones are minimum $70 for everything ☹️
Honestly get a used jailbreakable PS3 instead, you can play all PS1 games on it as well as almost all PS2 games and all PS3 (duh) games as well as a few PSP ones and you don't have to worry about wires
As a childhood Nintendo fan, I can confidently say 80% of my life in late 2012 was focused on endless internet forum speculation on Playstation All Stars and Little Big Karting. It totally worked on me lol.
Play with your toys my friend. I had a bunch of fun stuff still in the box that I wanted to play, but didn't get around to. My house burned down in a fire, lost it all, and don't feel like paying top-dollar collector prices to replace it anymore.
@@joeblow229 sorry for your loss, my backlog of stuff to play has become so massive I just can’t get around to playing it . I’ve started only buying games that I intend to play immediately so I can stop having 20% of the games on my shelf unopened.
Right hand to God, I got this when it came out and used it more than my SNES Classic. I can give them props for not just including games I alreadt owned. It got me to play the original Resident Evil, to try Jumping Flash for the first time (awesome game), to beat Metal Gear Solid, to try Ridge Racer T4 (also awesome game), to discover how fun Twisted Metal multi-player is, sure including Crash and Spyro wouldn't have hurt but the space inside only allowed for at most 2-3 extra games by itself without expanding the memory, which for me meant losing 2-player support. I still modded it and sold it to my friend and replaced every game I found to be nonsense with cool ones, but for myself personally I definitely got my money's worth out of it more than the same SNES games Nintendo re-releases every 3-5 years.
The PS1 version of Rayman 2 is significantly worse than the other versions not only missing levels but also missing parts of the levels that were included. That’s probably why Rayman 1 was picked over 2
Iirc the first two Atari Flashback systems were essentially the hardware of the 2600 recreated with modern components and in a smaller size, so those were more comparable to a mass produced version of one of those trimmed down Wiis than an emulation machine like most mini consoles
I find it funny that the SNES Classic runs PS1 games better than the PS Classic. Performance on the PS Classic is somewhat abysmal, even when you use NTSC roms.
I had only 4 games, Gran Turismo, Theme Hospital, Rayman, and MediEvil. Most everybody I knew had a Nintendo so I really didn't know anyone who might have had anything Capcom.
You can mod it to play Retro Arc. I use mine to play ps1 games. That with a CHD file manager compression, you can have triple the amount of games you could normaly have on USB.
I dunno, the PS1 already has an amazing library hard to narrow down to 20, but PS2 has a critically acclaimed library that's borderline impossible to narrow down. Would also be the most expensive classic.
It would probably be too expensive to be profitable. With games up to like 4,7 or even 8,5 GB the memory for that alone would be quite expensive. Then you also have to consider the hardware itself + controller, even 100$ would be a steal.
I was working electronics at Target when the NES and PS1 classics came out. For the NES, we only ever got a few units per shipment and they were weeks apart. We had people calling daily hoping to grab one right away when they came in. For the PS classic though, we got 20 units in the first shipment at launch and only sold one in the first month which... got returned. We slowly sold them over the course of several months, only after they went clearance for about $20 or less, and never got a second shipment.
these are my go to controllers for when i play retro games on pc. they feel so nice. the controllers alone make it worth the $20 discount price, but hacking it makes it even more worth it
When I saw what a USB drive could do to this thing, I couldn't say "no" to the $20 asking price for it at my local Walmart. I've been playing it off and on for the past few years, and I couldn't be happier.
I'll never understand why they felt the need to rush this thing out because the idea wasn't bad, but was just poorly executed. It kinda reminds me of the PSvita TV, back then. The system was great when it came to build quality, but when it came to software support... I think Sony just wanted hackers to do the work for them, honestly.
I think the ps vita TV was just a rushed attempt by sony to get people interested in the ailing console at a discounted price while also clearing out the masses of unsold vita hardware they probably had sitting in warehouses.
@@hoodedman6579 PS Vita TV is the Japanese name, actually. As it stands, the Japanese name actually tells you what the dang thing is, too, while PlayStation TV makes you think it's some kind of set-top box instead of a game console.
I'll say this: They probably didn't include Rayman 2 because the PS1 version, as far as I know, is one of the less liked versions of the game due to it cutting some levels short and a few out IIRC. They still could have just included another game. I'll also say Ridge Racer Type 4 is a certified classic to include. The lack of major classics was a major issue: Ape Escape with the DualShock would have been a lot better, not to mention the Tomb Raider / Spyro / Crash trilogy and I have NO idea how Gran Turismo isn't on here. Type 4 + Gran Turismo is a perfect combo to represent both arcade racers and sim racers! Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 and Dragon Quest 7 are some other ones I feel like could toss in, especially Pro Skater.
I’ve been playing mine in the last week I love it. Bought all the True Blur mini sticks back in 2020 and I have about 575 games to play on mine it kicks ass
MGS1 and FF7 were nice, and I actually love Intelligent Qube. But man no crash or Spyro is insane. Silent hill missing feels wrong too. I didn’t pick this up cause of so many reasons mentioned. Price, emulation quality, the roms, just a cluster fuck. If it was way cheaper I’d honestly overlook a lot but a hundred bucks? No way. No dual shock means they could’ve added crash one easily, and Rayman one makes sense because it’s the superior port of that game versus Rayman two which was one of the lesser ports of that game
8:38 Slight correction: Sega DID release the AtGames Genesis, or rather AtGames released the AtGames Genesis, and it was horrible. Rerez did a great video about it. The one done by M2 is great though.
No, what scott refers to is the INITIAL announcement of the Megadrive Mini which was out after atgames had done several Sgea flashback consoles, both plug'n'play (the one rerez reviewed) and handheld ones (Which couldn't emulate the save battery of the games included)
19:36 Honestly even 20 bucks probably isn't worth it for most people still, since most people either have great emulation setups on PC or with real hardware, so 20 bucks or not I don't see the point if it's not going to be used anyway.
Yeah, I keep my Mega Drive Mini plugged in all the time, but as you said, I modded it to run 100 games, so I have my whole physical library in one easy place without having to switch around. My NES classic was a fun novelty, but I haven't turned it on in a few years, it sure looks nice on my TV stand though!
I really miss mine. I had to leave it behind when I got arrested, then, when I got back a year later it was gone but nothing else was even touched. The thieves knew it was something special which is why they took this and nothing else. 😂
I remember being so exciting when this was announced and being so underwhelmed by the game list, and the fact they were the European versions was even worse. You nailed it that they got the look of the system right and the box, but botched everything else 🤦♂️ For $100 they should have included so many more games and better ones.
After installing homebrew, replacing the roms with the correct region, connecting a drive and adding the rest of the games, using a better controller, and removing the gross default blur filter, this is a usable little device.
Me at the start of this video: "Oh yay, Scott is going to talk about something that isn't Nintendo for a change!" Me three minutes into this video: "Motherf...."
I also bought it on clearance, but I just threw it in a shelf and forgot about it, never opened it. I also have the SNES classic, yes, I hacked it, but I still don't use it.

This will always hold a special place in my heart not because this is a great console, but because my grandmother got me this as a Christmas gift when it was brand new. I felt so bad she spent so much money on it, especially after it was marked down 80% two months later
Slight correction regarding PAL vs NTSC:
PAL games weren't purposely slowed down - that's actually a result of running a game with NO adjustments.
I felt alienated about the SNES Classic due to the lack of Ballz 3D.
I hacked mine and actually added ballz on there lol
It needed Tony Hawk and Resident Evil 2. Plus Castlevania, Tomb Raider, Crash, Silent Hill, and Gran Turismo.
That was one of the deciding factors for me to never get a PS Classic. THPS2 is easily my most played PS1 game, and the lack of it made me less eager to buy it.
Instal project Eris on it and you can have all of that on the psclassic
Plus it lets you add Emulation of PSP, NDS and all the consoles prior to that
The PS Plus classics catalog needs those too
Pepsiman and gex:
Tony Hawk and Gran Turismo are practically impossible. They're stuck in license limbo.

Sony's bizzare obsession with Battle Arena Toshinden
When in reality they should be obsessed with Twin Goddesses, the true first PS1 fighting game that predated Toshinden.
The first 3D fighting game with side stepping!

My favorite PS1 game is an old school Konami party game called Poy Poy but I'm convinced I'm the only person on the planet who knows what that game is
Probably impossible, as Gran Turismo (the best-selling PS1 game) only sold over 10 million, accounting for less than 10% of the PS1's sales numbers.
My favorite games on the OG PS1 were the Strike games, Front Mission 3, and Space Griffon VF-9.
And like five people remember Space Griffon.

Nah, it wouldve been insanely hard to get the proper games list for it.
Sports games wouldve been near impossible due to both music and player licensing (probably The Show if anything would be included since its Sony)
Grand theft auto wouldve been off the table due to the remasters coming soon after
Kingdom Hearts would probably be iffy since they still sell the old games via compilations
Guitar Hero couldnt be sniffed
The littany of licensed games would barely be scratched (Lego Games, Battle for Bikini Bottom, Simpsons Hit and run, Star Wars Battlefront etc.)
The list would be a weird mishmash of games that would scratch itches but would have huge holes too
Genuinely narrowing down the PS2 library to a list of 20-30 games that adequately represent the experience is impossible. There are too many good games.

Nope

Having one thats modded with 500+ ps1 game and the entire 16 and below bit games is epic
Okay now that Scott covered BOTH NES & SNES Classics & The PS Classic I hope he covers The SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive Mini 1 & 2 next 👀
A big void that's also felt in the PSMini library is Capcom, I feel at least half the install base of the PS1 either had a FG port or Mega Man X4-X6.
Capcom has their own though, with street fighter and the mega man arcade games
I had only 4 games, Gran Turismo, Theme Hospital, Rayman, and MediEvil. Most everybody I knew had a Nintendo so I really didn't know anyone who might have had anything Capcom.
I'm astounded that there isn't 1 single 3D platformer in that line-up. NONE.
Got it for Christmas cause it's a nice display piece next to my other mini retro consoles. Just need the Turbo Grafx 16 Mini.
You can mod it to play Retro Arc. I use mine to play ps1 games. That with a CHD file manager compression, you can have triple the amount of games you could normaly have on USB.
I still long for the efile 65 rerelease of the PlayStation mini, moulded in blue with the complete line up from their hit song "PlayStation"
a ps2 classic would have dominated if done properly.
I got my PS classic for $20 new, and at that price it's worth it.
these are my go to controllers for when i play retro games on pc. they feel so nice. the controllers alone make it worth the $20 discount price, but hacking it makes it even more worth it
"Nintendo Classic Mini"
Europe don't really know what NES is, so marketing wouldn't work. We all just called it "the Nintendo" in the 80s.
I like that we’re calling it “PSVita TV” because its actual name, “PlayStation TV”, is clearly terrible.
Not including a Dual Shock controller was a huge missed opportunity.
What? To charge even more for it?
I’ve been playing mine in the last week I love it. Bought all the True Blur mini sticks back in 2020 and I have about 575 games to play on mine it kicks ass
13:37 They can't because they don't own the rights to Ms. Pacman.
I think Tectoy made one too
Scott: I bought this for 20 dollars 5 years ago.
Me who got the same deal 6 years ago: Dude. You're not gonna believe this.
I can't wait for the Playstation classic classic
I got this console when I was 12 I thought it was great but when I realized how the games were supposed to run I felt scammed 😔
19:36 Honestly even 20 bucks probably isn't worth it for most people still, since most people either have great emulation setups on PC or with real hardware, so 20 bucks or not I don't see the point if it's not going to be used anyway.
You pay more for sub par cases, the pads alone are worth it alone 🤷
Yeah, I keep my Mega Drive Mini plugged in all the time, but as you said, I modded it to run 100 games, so I have my whole physical library in one easy place without having to switch around. My NES classic was a fun novelty, but I haven't turned it on in a few years, it sure looks nice on my TV stand though!
One of the rare times Sony tried to cash in on what Nintendo was doing
this and psabr lol
@@Unlimi-PT You should know by now
The playstation wand thing
Rare?
@ every now and then
I got this as a gift but I still felt ripped off😂😂
14:50 also there's a blur filter applied by default that has to be removed with homebrewed software. Mine is 720 but sharp as heck.
*Bi linear filtering
I actually still use these controllers whenever I play ps1 games or more simple 2D games, pretty good for the 15 dollars I spent on it
I cannot find this anywhere. I badly want one but I can't see them in any of the game stores I look at (at least the stores close to me)
I really miss mine. I had to leave it behind when I got arrested, then, when I got back a year later it was gone but nothing else was even touched. The thieves knew it was something special which is why they took this and nothing else. 😂
Sony sues bleem for stealing their tech for emulating PSX games
Sony steals an emulator to sell their PSX games
I remember being so exciting when this was announced and being so underwhelmed by the game list, and the fact they were the European versions was even worse. You nailed it that they got the look of the system right and the box, but botched everything else 🤦♂️ For $100 they should have included so many more games and better ones.
After installing homebrew, replacing the roms with the correct region, connecting a drive and adding the rest of the games, using a better controller, and removing the gross default blur filter, this is a usable little device.
Me at the start of this video: "Oh yay, Scott is going to talk about something that isn't Nintendo for a change!"
Me three minutes into this video: "Motherf...."
You're a kid Scott. Coolboarders 2 was so good back in the day.
Don’t gatekeep. I’m younger than Scott and I love the ps1
@supersquirrels7 I actually remember when the atuff he's talking about was popular, I don't just like it. Huge difference.
I also bought it on clearance, but I just threw it in a shelf and forgot about it, never opened it. I also have the SNES classic, yes, I hacked it, but I still don't use it.
One of the few instances where you NEED to hack the console for it to be actually good and usable
Which at that point, what's the point of owning this thing? Mind as well get a Raspberry Pi and make your own PS1 classic
@@MadWatcherThe point was they were cheap, and they were easy to mod. These things were everywhere for 15 or 20 bucks for the better part of like 2 years. I got 2 of them for free when I bought a pair of PS4 controllers.
@@MadWatcherit's on par with a pi3b powerwise and it's cheeper 🤷 and you still need to work on adding roms ect so why not get a offical shell and 2 pads for less then a bare RP 🤷
