Oh quick tip, to stop the spread of corrosion, POR-15 comes in silver. Coat it on the metal with a brush corrosion will be stopped dead in it's tracks.
At first, after seeing the seats side by side, I thought the originals looked better. I should have known, your OCD trumps my OCD by miles and you nailed it. I'm canceling the intervention. I await your next video. Love your attitude and penchant for perfection.
@@SarahnTuned Are the seat mounting points in the STI/WRX the same as the Forester? So you could fit the mounting bracket, sliding rails, and seat straight in the SJ without swapping any parts over?
Keep the lower Forrester piece of the seat. Changing seats makes such a difference in your car. I put BRZ seats in my 1988 200sx and Toyota 86 seats in my 04 Accord coupe.
I think the videos you create of things you do purely for the fun of it are among your best. You exuded nothing but joy, and even laughed at yourself over ordering the wrong part. 😉 As usual, the editing and music choices are Emmy-level… I know you put in crazy hours producing these. Take a bow! 👍
So this what your week end was like. Fine job very productive, very productive. Feels like we experienced the high lights. Through the magic of editing production, about 72 hours packed into short of 17 minutes. What I did in that time wouldn't make for content anyone would care to see. Really enjoy yours as a divergence. Thanks Sarah.
Sarah, I recently got a Ranger Tremor, but you can't get the black appearance package with the tremor. SO I ordered all the badges from the black appearance package separately. I disassembled the fender vent badge my truck came with, and then disassembled the one from the black appearance package, harvested JUST the lettering rom the black appearance package and reassembled my badge with the black lettering instead of the chrome. What I'm trying to say is. I get it. Because NO ONE will ever care but me.
I so love the comment you made, "Don't ever underestimate me". I don't think we do. I think you are so brill "sensei". What a worthwhile job on those seats. Wish I had your work ethic. Keep it up.
hello, I could be wrong but check that the seat backs have the airbags accommodated as it should be. I seemed to see the labels inward and not outward. regards
It's amazing how NEW everything on your car looks. I mean, those seat frames. Brand spanking new. Those Recaro's look absolutely great! I wish I had noodles now.
if you cant find seatbelts to swap, you can swap just the one part out of the seat belt. All you have to do is remove the tensioner, pull the belt all the way out and it is held in the tensioner by running through the center with a loop and pin. once removed you can swap the just the seatbelt buckle and reassemble. Also you could get a sheet of foam and poke it behind the leather to fill the small gap in the side trim.
I wouldn’t worry about the seat gap. It will settle out. You would be proud. When I had the back seats out of my mini, I found a metal bracket that was unpainted and rusting. It had to be painted before it went back in, even though no one will ever see it.
Your videos are so entertaining to watch. You are a very accomplished mechanic and you have the ability to make people laugh on almost every video you do. Real talent!!!
Another option is that it was just a salt belt car. My 02 wrx had the same issue, and the floor boards in the driver side also started rusting apart. It's just the nature of living in a wet environment with salted roads.

I should do this to my new Corolla HB! I wasn't able to get the XSE trim I wanted in a manual, but I really am considering it!
You’re not the only weird person. I just bought a new truck and I’m doing things to make it more enjoyable for me. The stuff for the Gump is pretty cool.
I’d go with the STi trim pieces for your seats… might allow easier access if something falls underneath the seats and you have to reach from the side. My cellphone has slid under the seat in my 2013 Camry SE V6 and it’s super tight going in from the side, so I’d have to ol power the seat forward or back just to gain access.
Your videos are so satisfying to watch because of all the detail and time you put into each part! I'm the same way, if I take anything off my car and its rusty, it's either getting replaced or sanded down and repainted! Keep up the great work!
Keep the forester bottom and add son black foam if the gap stays after you settle in . Leave the seat belts with the contrasting clip if it matches the headliner. That way it easy is see when grabing for the belt.
get the STI parts that are interchangeable all seat interior trim etc. - (don't use the WRX seat if a different size appears smaller the forester) just swap seat coverers if available call dealer and order one in correct trim or have interior shop to duplicate the wrx seat for forester. the performance upgrades is usually just exhaust cold air intake and maybe tune +15 to 20 hp less weight
I'm sure many will agree when I say that one of the most admirable aspects of your personality which flows into each video is that you are not afraid to admit your human. Maybe already mentioned, but..... you can get round USB outlet inserts on Amazon super cheap to fit the hole the cigarette lighter outlet is in. Not an adapter thingy, an outlet that fits in a hole. I used a square one in my dash for the USB connections for my aftermarket head unit.
"Way-back-when" I did a similar swap with '04 STi seats into an '04 FXT. Swapped the heating pads, too. I still have a couple of side curtain airbags waiting to be discharged. Regarding the gap in the front seat trim, you could fill out the seat bolster with some eva foam. Low seats are for racecars, not street cars.
I must be a Brute. Our host brings civility for our craft. With my past projects I was lucky to put back floorboards. You replaced an entire interior!? I concede .
I love the concept of modifying a vehicle with other OEM parts from higher trim levels or similar models with different desirable features. I'm doing that on a truck I own - makes people look twice and scratch their head lol
I did something similar to put JDM seats in my old 2004 STi. The JDM bases were not direct bolt in, and I wanted the drivers adjustments…so I had to swap the seat cushions and covers onto the USDM bases, and then put the JDM seat backs on to the US bases. Super PITA but it looked cool in the end, and a lot more bolstering.
Awesome video Sarah! Leave the seat belt harness grey for contrast or paint it red to match the seats. As for the headlight...beautiful! Also keep the forester lower seat thingy...it give some height for a comfortable driving
