ABsolootelye. Many parts will die during the race career of Sir Iforgotnamealot. Many. It is common to replace exhaust pieces/all after a race season run full tilt-which you won't be able to do as you have this side job of making 50 vids per week for us. But should you get to run several races, cracking crapping the exhaust is not out ot the equation. Has nought to do with skill-all about random skunk bumps midroad as you fly thru air with greatest of ease.
Plus more unnecessary weight.
Agreed. Having helped fan-populate some PNW rally-stage starts, I never really pondered the exhaust tone of the cars, 'cause all I heard was bbbrrrrrrrRRRRRRRR-BRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAPBRAP-WAAAAAHHHH-WAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH-WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHhhhhhhhh-wahhhhhhhhhhhh........

No resonator. Like the raspiness just how it is. Sounds more race car-ish. Keep up the work.
Any muffler shop will have a hydraulic pipe "Stretcher". It is for them to precision fit pipes. Most charge $5.00 for this service. Have them stretch your resonator. I have had many done, works well.
Stretch a small pipe to make it bigger huh 🤔
If your going to be doing a fair amount of exhaust work you can actually buy the inserts for different size pipe and then you just use the impact to flare it.
That’s what I tough a flange expander / bending machine.
A lot of parts stores have the expanders as part of their loaner tools. Seems kind of silly to go back to a smaller diameter pipe, though.
It's actually a pipe swager. Fits inside and as you apply pressure it expands the side wall.
No resonator. Sounds fine like it is. Less weight, maybe a tiny amount of hp added. I say delete.👍

Hi Sarah, resonator build: make one from two. Cut the 58 out-pipe off the OE resonator. Cut the rear section of the 63 exhaust tube to the length required to bridge the gap from the resonator housing to the link-up. Weld the 63 tube piece to the end of the resonator. Done.
Adding a resonator could catch on a rock when you're rallying. It's like you - perfect the way it is.
I have skid plates for the entire underbelly

Of course, I wasn't standing there next to it when you were revving it up, but on camera it sounded fine to me. It will be for rallying, so I wouldn't bother installing a resonator.

@@SarahnTuned yeah I know that. I'll wear protective gear all the time, it took 40 years to learn it. I used to work in an environment that was in direct contact with 2000 degree materials wearing four layers of protective clothing in 140 degree Heat.

a) Shave job was adequate. b) Take the factory mid-pipe to a muffler shop and get them to expand the end that goes in the tailpipe. c) That music is FUN!!!

That's shops though. Idk, maybe I'm just a hoarder because all boxes I encounter are saved and cut for range purposes...

It’s a race car, no need for the resonator. And what ever you do in the intro is fine.
a quick tip when cutting pipe you can use a hose clamp vs tape to use as a guide... perfect straight cuts every time :)

Your making a rally car and they don't have exhaust resonators or mufflers, straight through pipe plus it will help with the flow of the exhaust gas and give you a bit of bhp not much but it helps.
I think they do have to have a muffler looked at some photos of rally cars and they have them.

I believe the phrase is close enough for govt. work..., of course my memory for govt. work goes back to the 1970's :).
I've always heard the phrase as "good enough for Government work." As a side note, when that phrase was coined, it was considered a compliment because the Government requirements were considered very stringent. Now people take it to mean sub-par quality.

You can buy exhaust pipe expansion tools, maybe even at a parts store. Or cut the stock resonator to length and have an exhaust shop expand the pipe to fit :)

The diameter of the pipes was the reason you started this swap! I expect Thrush can supply a small resonator. Some rallies will have a DB limit for competitors.

Went resonator delete on a 240, sounded good at idle and reving. Running at 3k would create an undesirable harmonic that gave my friends headaches. By that time I was deaf to that frequency, Harbor freight has some chinesium expanders that work 1 time but you have to take a torch to the pipe to get it to its white hotness.. Always entertaining!
I switched to the Dremel disc cutting set in the blue box. It comes with a clamp fitting and specific material discs. They don't explode.

Have fitted a few exhausts using a jack and axle stands. Usually end up with skinned knuckles and grazed arms and elbows.

Sounds absolutely amazing as is!!!! And for under $300! This Borla aftermarket exhaust sounds much more expensive!!!
Check and see if you can put the smaller pipe inside the bigger one to weld. You can also try compressing the outer pipe, or expanding the inner pipe.
