Hey just bought the Borla xr-1 for my chevy 2021 LT trail boss I just want to cut out my stock muffler and put in the Borla without taking it to get welded in place. Do you have a video to help with that?
Here are the wheel/tire specs. American Off-Road A106 20x10 -24 - www.phastekperformance.com/American-Off-Road-Wheels-A106-BMF-p/aow-a106-bmf.htm Toyo M/T tires 33x12.50 - www.phastekperformance.com/Toyo-Open-Country-M-T-33X12-50-R20LT-114Q-p/toyo-360330-1921.htm We are also using a 10mm spacer to clear the brake calipers.
This system specifically would not work with the factory tips. There is the FlowFX kit that Flowmaster has that will work with the factory tips. www.phastekperformance.com/Flowmaster-FlowFX-Cat-Back-Exhaust-System-p/flowmaster-717894.htm
Most aftermarket systems will have a different sound when compared to the stock system, so a bit of extra noise would be normal. But if you are hearing an air leak then we would double check all the connection points to ensure they are tight enough and the pipes are in the correct position to keep leaks to a minimum.
@@PhastekTrucks yes there’s just a small leak i was just wondering if it had to be perfect but like you said a bit of extra noise is normal do to the fact that is after Market I just wasn’t sure if it was normal thank you very much 👍
Exact exhaust. I have the RC on my trail boss and my buddy has this exhaust on his trail boss. Its identical. You're literally paying $150 more for a name.
The Flowmaster will have a bit of drone but that is mainly due to the muffler design, honestly it was not really noticeable. The Borla and Corsa systems will have less drone then the Flowmaster, but again due to the muffler design.
In your opinion have you come across an exhaust or muffler that gives a deeper tone to the new 2021 2.7turbo 4 cylinder Silverados? And it would be awesome if you guys can make a video , theres a whole lot of 2.7turbo owners on lots of group pages who ask the same question.... I know its not gonna have same sound as a V8 bit we need something bad ass... 🤙🏽 aloha and thank you
aFe Power makes a system that sounds like it gives a deeper tone to the 2.7L. We do plan on working our way with products for the 2.7L, slowly but surely we are going to get there. Thank you for the advise.
I'm installing this on a 2020 6.2L and the inlet pipe does not have a flex pipe. It appears from your video the 5.3L does. I'm curious why it doesn't have it if you know? Thanks!
Typically all factory systems will have a flex pipe. It just aids in the motion caused by the engine flexing. As for why, it is not on the aftermarket systems. That would be a question for the manufacturers to answer 100% correctly. We can assume that the amount of flex caused by the engine is very minimal that it is not necessary for the exhaust pipe.
@@PhastekTrucks thanks! I did contact Holley and they couldn't tell me why it doesn't have the flex pipe on the 6.2 but the 5.3 does. They mentioned the rubber hanger brackets and ball joint connection but it doesn't make sense because the 5.3 has the same setup with exception to pipe diameter.. just looking to get peace of mind lol
Since this system mounts after the factory catalytic converters, there should be no issues with passing smog testing. However, we would suggest checking with you local testing facility to ensure there will be no issues.

@@PhastekTrucks Thank you. Will this exhaust setup alter the emissions? I assume it will not since it is from the Cat back. Is there a drone sound inside the truck after installing this exhaust?
@@PhastekTrucks Thanks for your reply. So you dont notice much difference in sound on the inside of the truck, but it is a big difference from the back of the truck? Recorded videos dont do portray the sound very well but from your video, it appears there was a noticeable difference in the sound compared to stock.
100% is. Just did it. 4 hours start to finish. I did jack up the passenger side slightly. I also removed the spare tire and shield. Makes it way easier.
Is this a 5.3? I just got a 6.2 2021 trail boss and got this kit for the 6.2 and I see it has a super 50 series muffler with it instead of the 40. Will this sound louder or quieter than this system?
This is a 5.3L. The 50 Series muffler compared to the 40 series will be quieter. Most aftermarket exhaust will have a bigger or more muffler due to the excess drone you will experience.
Sometimes its hard to get a good audio clip of the cab sound. With some trucks we have experienced more road noise then exhaust noise when it came to getting those clips.
I am not usually a Flowmaster fan, but I like the way that sounds on that truck. Nice thorough video.
FYI, take the spare tire and its shield out. You don't need to cut the factory exhaust.
Always have loved the Flowmaster, best sound. Hopefully in the future I will be able to do this to my 2023 LT TB
And look at that....an exhaust tip ATTACHED to the exhaust pipe!!!! Take notice GM!!!!

My truck doesn’t have dual exhaust it’s just one pointing to the side, can it be pgraded to dual ?
You would have to source the hangers needed on the Driver side to make this kit work.
Phastek Trucks thank you for your response, any place you recomend or link? Please advice TY
Have this exhaust on my 2020 RST. Love the sound
Does that system drone alot inside of cab ? Really thinking of buying this set up. Thanks for tour time.
I'm getting this installed on my RST tomorrow!
Any drone noise on the inside
This louder than a super 10 muffler replacement ?
You have to cut the exhaust to take it off?
Pretty good got it on my 03 avalanche but I got a evap leak now sounds good but I know it ain't right😃
Can you get that for a 2017 with a single pipe system
Should always use a drive on lift when doing exhaust work
Can I use this setup if I have Single exhaust system
This would look great on my white Trail Boss! If I could only find a competent shop!
Finding a good shop is becoming harder and harder to come by.
@@PhastekTrucks does this cause drone or drone at low rpms like highway or interstate
If I wanted to use the factory tips would that be possible? Or do you guys have a similar one with out the tips?
