    Your video is noticeably more well thought out and detailed than 90% of what I see on TH-cam. Yay! Someone actually thought of having a light on ahead of time under the dash in the hard to see places. You explain this methodically and without stutter or mumble. Your content is concise, accurate, and extremely helpful. Thanks for the good information.

    Excellent video. Too bad Ford engineers failed at making this easy. It can be done easy. Our 2007 Prius this is done without tools and in a matter of seconds. Im dreading this job now, but perhaps dreading it a lot less now that I saw your very informative and well made video.

    Thanks a lot for this video. Takes about 15 minutes to do it. As some commenter warned, slide a cardboard under the old filter before removing it. This will prevent that some debris will fall into the fan. Keep cardboard in while removing old filter and then suck all debris on top of cardboard out with a vacuum. I had to realize that some former owner of my 2013 Fusion did this job before. But he was too lazy putting all the screws back in. The screws on the filter cavity lid were missing as well as the lower left side screw of the glove box. I hate it when people are that lazy.

    Excellent it worked exactly as you said for my 2015 Fusion Hybrid, saved me lots of labour costs from the dealership, thank you so much. I see the clips for the filter door don’t clip back up again and aren’t needed either the Phillips screw are all that are needed, thanks again that was easy to follow. From Alberta Canada.

    FANTASTIC! Thank you!!!! Mine is 6 years old now and the dealer wanted $110 to do this... Got the filter from Amazon for under $8... I appreciate the details in this video! I knew I'd have to remove the glove-box but didn't feel like that haasile.
    DIY today is a must!

    My wife got a new car. I'm now driving her 2014 Ford Fusion back and forth to work (100 miles one way. Gets better MPG than my 2014 Ram) We traded in my 2018 Kia Soul for her Buick Encore. I was always the one to get her car serviced. Nobody ever mentioned the cabin air filter. I assumed it didn't have one. My Ram doesn't, but I could make some cuts and put one in if I really wanted to. The Kia did, and it was really easy to change. If I have to drop the damn glovebox, I'm cutting an access panel out of the back of it to make changing the next filter a lot easier. Say I won't, it's out of warranty and I'm driving it to work until the wheels fall off.

  • @BlueLudeDude
    @BlueLudeDude 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Hey, first off, thanks so much for the detailed video. It made the work on my wife's car go super smoothly.
    One word of warning, though: Beware of leaves/debris that are resting on the old filter falling down into the blower motor. The motor rests below the filter, and when you pull the filter out it's way too easy to have some debris fall down in there. I vacuumed out what I could, but now when I start up the air I hear a humming noise that was not there before that increases as I turn the fan speed up.
    My next project is to figure out how to remove the blower motor and clean it out. Some quick searches only turned up results for older Fusion models, so if anyone has seen a video or instructions for how to do this for the current generation, I would be eternally grateful.
    I also own a '13 Fusion of my own, and I plan to do the air filter swap in it as well. However, my plan with that one is to slide a piece of paper into the chamber under the old filter before pulling it out. Then I can vacuum out any debris and avoid this issue a second time around.
    Thanks again!

    • @michaelgombos4518
      @michaelgombos4518 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ever resolve this? just changed mine today and I've got noise when the fan is on high

    • @BlueLudeDude
      @BlueLudeDude 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Michael Gombos Yes, it took a bit of work, but I was able to remove the blower motor from below the glove box. There were some small leaf pieces in there that were causing the noise.
      The hard part was moving the motor around while it was still attached in cramped quarters without scratching myself up on the sharp plastic edges down there.
      Google removing the blower motor and you should be all set.
      Unfortunately the same thing happened on my Fusion, even with my attempts to block the debris from falling with a piece of paper. Terrible design decision. I'll probably try to stick a vacuum cleaner hose in there next time and see if that helps.
      Good luck!

    • @michaelgombos4518
      @michaelgombos4518 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kevin Church thanks for the info. I can't seem to find any information on removing the blower motor. Everything I'm coming up with is for the previous generation. Is it pretty self explanatory once you get back behind the glove box? I didn't even look at removing it as I hoped I wouldn't have to!

    Thanks for the vid! Just replaced mine. On all my other vehicles it's so easy. You just lower the glove box, and it's right there. This wasn't hard by any means, but Ford (and I'm sure other manufacturers) are really trying to make it so that you have to bring in your vehicle for all routine maintenance.

    One of the hardest filters to change in the ford family, besides the Fiesta. I do these all the time for the dealer that I work at. Pain in the butt, and half the time, the customers will take these cars to jiffy lube and other places and these (along with the Fiestas) are the ones that I see changed out the least frequent)

    Thank you, excellent video! Just bought a 2015 Fusion 2.0 Ecoboost. I've changed the cabin air filters on my Volvo S40 and Mini Cooper, but this is way more involved. My only fear would be breaking that long trim piece that holds the a/c vent as I'm taking it off, seems like you're applying some good pressure. I'm sure if I let the Ford dealer's service dept do it, I'll wind up paying around $200.00 (my estimate) for the part & labor. (Mini dealer wanted to charge me $151.00 a few years ago for a 5 minute job...bought the filter on my own for $20.00 and installed it in 5 minutes thanks to a TH-cam video). Will check back once it's time to change it. Thank you again for helping people save money!

    • @NickJBubb
      @NickJBubb  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Congrats on the new purchase you will love it! It rides great, it's packed with technology and the EcoBoost model is surprisingly peppy for a little 4-cylinder. You are right on the vent also, I had to apply a little pressure but luckily it turned out great. I have popped it off a few more times since then and have not broken it yet "Knock on wood". Your welcome and glad the video helped (Or will in the future).

    awesome video. I just ordered mine from rock auto I have 56k miles... after seeing his at 12k I figured it was time for mine!!!! lol.... but hey also forget the lug nuts that come on the fusion they suck... I got after market chrome lug nuts that work great a 19mm actually fits on them. no banging them on with a hammer!!.. (I have the black rims that keep peeling this is the 7th set of black rims they have given me) I know a thing or 2 about taking the rims off now.. I think DP accessories is where I got the lug nuts from and they look a lot better then fords tin plated lug nuts.

    If you think this is too involved, just wait until you have to replace a headlight or high/low beam light bulbs. You'll have to partially remove the front bumper. But overall, the 2nd gen Fusion is a great car. No real complaints after 4 years of ownership.

      The '14 Titanium I just did was exactly the same as in the video. The airbags in all the '13-'16 Fusions are all identical, and you don't need to worry about them anyways. Airbag module is attached to the bottom of the top part of the dashboard, just above the glovebox.

      +William Goldbach Thank you. The video helps a lot - I just hope I don't break something, which is my normal luck!

      +zip89105 Watch out for the white plastic clips (6 of them) that should stay attached the tabs on the glovebox. When I pulled the glovebox out they went flying all over the place. Once you find them all, place them back on the tabs. No big deal, but it wasn't shown or mentioned in the video. My filter was loaded with bits of foam rubber, some kind of fuzzy grey material, seeds, hairs, dust, pollen. My car has 33K on it and is just over 2 years old. There was a lot of junk in that filter!

    Damn. GM's cabin air filter is also behind the glove box, but you don't have to tear half the car apart to get to it. In fact, you don't need any tools at all. How many of those clips do you think will get broken over time?

    I just bought a 2013 Fusion with about 70k on the dial.... I’m kinda scared to look at the cabin filter simply because the previous owner didn’t seem like she really knew how to take care of her vehicle. Good to know how to get at it though.

    Well yesterday no air was coming from the vents and today it's perfectly normal blowing like new . my professional mechanic friens said it's not the filter . it's the relay or blower motor 15 Fusion SE 2.5

    This is why I buy Honda or Toyota. This process is much more difficult than it has to be.
