wow, I descovered your channel last night, I've already watched almost all your videos, even if your channel is new (3 months old) the quality of the videos and editing are very very good, also the way you talk and express your opinions are very good. I really hope you keep doing the reviews, i would like to see a review of various great wall models, more electric cars and the quirks and features from those cars. in my opinion, you will turn into the doug de muro of the chinese car industry. cheers from Colombia.
Chinese car brands really need to hire a brand naming consultancy to rename their models for the western markets. Do what the Koreans brands did and westernize their model names (Santa Fe, Soul...)
I think you got a good thing going by being a car review channel on youtube that focus on Chinese cars; none of the other channels are doing it and honestly, I think your market will grow within the next years as more and more people buy chinese cars.
GAC sells this car here in the Philippines, it is notable though that they've dropped all mentions of the name "Trumpchi" in the branding for our market (I guess obvious reasons). It sells for between 41- 48k USD over here and to put it kindly...it does not sell very well.
MG launched an SUV known as GLOSTER some months back in India.... it had a pretty nice Brochure to show but its not able to climb even a simple hill with all those gears and buzz
This model was started around 2015, so they didn't think about having a super high-end transmission system yet. (However the GM8 minivan received a new 8-speed gearbox for the 2020 refresh. Weird.) I'm pretty sure that with GAC's heavy attention to the BEV market, it won't be long before they ditch this model in favor of a similarly sized AION sedan to conveniently compete with the BYD Han, XPeng P7 or the Tesla Model 3. And I'm sure the AION will look much more futuristic.
One thing you forgot to mention is that GAC is partner manufacturer of Toyota, honda and many other Japanese brands in China, the development of trumpchi evolved around huge technological knowledge gained by GAC , over the years by manufacturing Toyota and Honda cars in China, basically we can say trumpchi is an offspring of Toyota and Honda 😁
Here in Dubai Jac has a model called jac-8 or something, its similar size as an s-class and offers similar features for the price of a Toyota Camry base model.
Michael Metz Definitely on the short list of cars we want to review, though we’re partial to the ES6, since it’s the same powertrain in a (albeit slightly) smaller package. Which means MORE SPEED!
All gac ga8 accessories are excellent And excellent powerful engines There is only a slight flaw, the hole is narrow The accelerator pedal and somewhat in the rear suspension of the average rear passengers when bumps and the length of the car is suitable for men Business
Love your review! Unique series of vehicles reviews too! Keep it up! Got a request if u guys don't mind , Can u do a review a sportscar from chinese brand? Already watched ur Lynk and Co reviews, maybe another car / brands? Cheers!
Chinese sports cars are few and far between these days, but rest assured that we'll be sure to test any that we can get our hands on! We have driven some pretty quick stuff, though, like the BYD Tang. It's definitely not a sports car, but 0-60 in less than 4.5 seconds ain't bad!
Love your videos guys. I genuinely think chinese car brands are the dark horse of the world. This thing looks incredible. Strange how the world has almost no knowledge and recognition of these amazingly futuristic cars! I've never seen such cool lights in a car before. I if you sold these in the west they would break the car market
Looks like that was a typo in the script, should have said it had an official 0-100 kmh time of 9 seconds, though media tests put it closer to 8.2 seconds.
That transmission is probably shit. Chinese automakers are late in the game so engine and transmission are probably their weaknesses. They put up more efforts in electric vehicles now than investing too much on techs that are phasing out.
@@codingcat1836 4:30 he says it's a 6 speed Asin transmission, which is majority owned by Toyota. Quite a reputable company, not some random crap transmission.
This car's exterior looks like a VW Passat, not so much like an Avalon. Inside, it somewhat reminds me of a Genesis G90, but with much less quality of materials and luxurious appearance. As far as the performance goes, it's way below current standards for acceleration. Also, how does it do in crash tests? That's really important in the market. It's a sedan. I don't see many going for it in the USA.
It all looks and sounds like good value. However, how long will it hold together?. How cheap and poor are the parts you cannot see. Will it fall apart in five years. Is so, then it ain't no Camry challenger.
while is cheap i hope GAC don't sell it for that aspect no one should think its cheap but be surprised that it is , it should be market as a reasonably priced car instead of a chep one, people just has a disdain for a cheap reputation, it should be focus on first time buyers looking for something mature
Outside, that grille looks gross. Very impressive interior though. Your channel is awesome, keep up the work. What's your story? How come you ended up in China?
Ethan has been living in China for about 6 years now, brought here by the fact that his efforts to study Chinese were muuuuuch more successful than his efforts at Spanish.
It looks like a cross between a Toyota Camry/Avalon and a Volkswagen Passat. The interior looks classy, and the quality, at least on the surface, looks really good. The price is astonishing. Too bad they can't import their vehicles, because they would do what the Koreans have done ...selling impressive cars for less.
The main thing that Chinese automakers need to enter in the US market is crash safety. If the cars have good structural design they have almost everything covered to enter the US market
The best part about this car is the Aisin transmission. Japanese (Aisin is specifically Toyota) transmissions are some of the most bulletproof transmissions ever made
Inmo, Aisin transmission ( made by toyota ) is more reliable than DCT. I hope they source the engine in japan ( like toyota or mazda ) instead of GM engine.
That's what people said about Japanese cars in the 60's and 70's. Who would have thought that now the bestselling car in the US would be Toyota Camry. When the Japan auto industry was starting many people thought they were crazy to try and compete with the mighty US industry. Same deal with Korean cars in the 80s. Absolute trash, now winning awards.
It’s a good looking car but it probably has dollar store quality and also Benz copy cat... which is a total shame because they don’t have their own design language. Outside is copies from Audi/Toyota inside from Benz. They need original design language to be successful and not get sued outside or China
THIRTY THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS! And here i was eyeing up Kia and how far they have come as far as value for money goes. This is pretty neat.. Alas i drive a 15 year old Toyota Avalon because i cannot afford a 30 thousand dollar car at the moment haha.
Awesome all GAC sedans used the alfa romeo 166 platform until these days.. i can recognize the shock absorber dome which is the same from the 166. This platforum is really outdated ! It goes back to the alfa 164 the last one sold to the united states ! i understand why those cars are soo cheap..

they even need someone to design their logos
@Packo_ Hubu nice troll
As an American Chinese, I couldn’t agree more. The names are just so weird. I’ve been saying it for years
Absolutely agree with you
western brands name their cars in a western manner , let Chinese brands name them in Chinese . quality is all you need the rest is just sounds .
All I’m hearing is that the brand is called “Trump Cheap”.😂
IKR XD
“Trump cheat” is what I heard
A decent car they used to be based on Alfas with a new skin of tin this is according to Top Gear who went to China to try one

6 speed Asin(Toyota) trans? If the engine holds up, that could be a winner in terms of the sedan market in terms of reliability.
