Blackcurrant plants were banned in the U.S until a few years ago, because they used to carry a fungus that pine trees can get also, and because the U.S depends on pine trees for their buildings, that meant authorities banned it. I believe you can now grow the plants in parts of the U.S.
It was always know in the UK as Nessel until the 90s when the company pushed to have it pronounced in the French style
Yes, I remember it being pronounced 'Nessle', especially in the Milky Bar adverts. I think the diehards still say Nessle, though 🤭 Like Jif, Opal Fruits and Marathon!
We oldies say Nessull instead of Nest-Lay so he said it right !

Nestlé globally make Kitkats, apart from in the US where they're made by Reeses (sub division of Herseys) but the best Kitkats are the UK ones, as they are the originals, made between 1935 and 1988 by Rowntree's of York, before the company was bought by Nestlé. As well as Kitkats and Lion Bars, Rowntree also developed the Aero and the Rolo.
And they tasted better when rowntrees..........
Just checked the price of the Tangfastics on Asda and they are currently £1.25.
You might prefer normal Jelly Babies over the Vimto ones. Vimto is a mixed fruit drink (available fizzy, still, and concentrated (Squash), as well as Ice Lollies and sweets these days). Normal jelly babies come as mixed packs of individual fruit flavours. The most well-known Jelly Babies came from Bassett's (now Maynards Bassett). They are made by pressing a mould into packed Cornflour (Cornstarch) and then filling the resulting indentations with the liquid sweet, which is what gives the powdery coating, as well as giving the slight "shell".
Blackcurrant is pronounced somewhat differently here in the UK than how you were saying it. You were giving the C an almost Q type pronunciation, while we tend to say something closer to Car/Cur/Kerb. You also seemed to stretch out the end of the pronunciation, sounding more like "Aunt" than the "Ant" sound used here.
Blackcurrants were banned in the US because they could be carriers for White Pine Blister Rust, but most states seem to have lifted the ban, and new varieties have been bred to be rust immune, to avoid the problem.
Blackcurrants are small black berries (similar looking to Blueberries, but smaller, darker, and produced in bunches). They are fairly tart when eaten raw, but make excellent jams and drinks.

Aldi in the UK do their own version of Squashies called Twinnies. Although to be honest Aldi in the UK do their own version of just about everything, Twix, Kitkat, Snickers, Mars Bar (Jive, Choco Break, Racer, Titan) 😂
