- This video will show you how to get a Rudd water heater functioning again after a heavy flood and submerged in 7ft Water. There are detailed step by step instructions for cleaning the pilot burner. Take precautions when you work with gas lines.
Experts do not want to repair these gas heaters because it is lucrative to just replace with a new one. But as a homeowner, you can get it working again. Click the like button and subscribe to my channel if this was helpful.

Glad my video was helpful. This is what I want to hear.
This guy explained it so clear! better than some of the so called "Experts".
Thank You!!
Appreciate your comment. Thank you.
Great video. Thank you. I live in Bergen county NJ and had 4 feet of water when Ida hit NJ. After water was gone I was trying to restart my water heater for 3 days with no success. Ignitor was not working properly, gas was not coming either. I talked to the plumbing company. They said, that to replace my 50G heater will cost me $1800 . I watched your video, bought a new ignitor on amazon for $3.84 and fixed the heater. Thank you very much.
Excellent. This is what I want to hear.
This is by far the best video for instruction. Thank you!!!
I am glad this video is helpful.
Absolute W video! Thank you SO MUCH!!!
Glad it helped!
You did such a great job Explaining and videoing the drying of the hot water tank. I can kiss you. I preformed the job myself with your assistance. Many thanks.
You are welcome. Glad to hear that my video helped you to fix the water heater yourself.
Great tutorial we just got a really bad flood here in New Jersey so we are gunna use this video to fix our boiler really bad flood
Sorry to hear about the flood, we saw on the news. We got 7 ft of water in our basement few years ago. Hope you can get the water heater running again. I also have some videos on how I fixed the HVAC furnaces after that flood.
same for me. mine was under 3 feet of water. can it explode if i try to use it again ?
@@kenzaifun The gas chamber is pretty sealed and there are safety built in for gas explosion etc. Make sure you do not smell gas (rotten egg) once you get it up and running again. If so, turn off the gas valve and have a professional service it. I did not have to do anything to the gas valve, just clean the tubes from the gas valve to the burner. And that worked when I got all the water out of those tubes.
@@DIYWithIndi thank you so much
Great video thank you
You are welcome.
Thank you very much!!!! this worked for me. I have hot water again after 2 days of not having hot water
Glad it helped!
Thank You, Brother!!
Thanks to You- We have our Water Heater Working Again( We couldn't afford to buy Another).
Jesus ( God) Bless You!!!
Glad to hear that you were able to fix your water heater.
Good vid.. just saved $475
That is great to hear that my video helped clean up the gas water heater and saved you money. We often throw away repairable appliances that would go to the landfill because it costs too much to get it fixed by a professional.
I had to replace the pilot light jet.. I fashioned an orfice and hammered it into the hole. Its been fine for a week.
Wonderful, it should feel great to be able to fix it yourself.
@@DIYWithIndi I spent 100 on tools and it ended up being a 2 dollar part 😆 At least I didn't have to pay $200 an hour to a pro.
You do know that ALL experts say do NOT reuse a flooded gas control! Just damn dangerous they say.
So it manual says turn off gas first before igniting. Then wait to turn it back on dont you have to turn the gas back on before igniting it? Curious
I would believe it is meant as a safety precaution to make sure no gas is left in the furnace chamber before igniting. Yes, you have to turn the gas back on before igniting.
Great tutorial. Saved me from replacing my water heater.
Thank you. Good to hear.
FYI they're not "three by eight" or "seven by sixteen" wrenches. The numbers are are fractions of an inch. 3/8 is three eights of an inch, similarly 7/16 is seven sixteenths.
In math, we also call fractions as 'x by y' where the / is mentioned also as 'by' short for 'divided by'. But I see your confusion when it comes to handyman basic math knowledge where 2 by 4 is not half, but 2 inch by 4 inch dimensions.
Ok video,. It's hard to follow you, when you ramble about unrelated issues. Just show us what you did. (Future advice)
My videos are for novices who may not know how to shut off gas valve or how to light the pilot or how a gas water heater works, hence a bit of explanation. Hope it was helpful.
I'm not getting gas...
The gas valve may need replacement. Make sure water is out of the line. You can try blowing into the larger tube to see if it clears any water in there. Be careful working with gas lines.
