Awesome job kid! I'm 42 and I don't ever want to stop learning and prefer to do whatever I can myself especially when it comes to my home. Cheers on the pex install. That's one of my future projects. Thanks for sharing my man. 🤙
Some plumbers would charge over $400 for moving around pretending they are like surgeons. In fact replacing the burner assembly is the solution and it can be done in less than 30 minutes. Great video!
Some professionals as they are called are good and know what they are doing and do a good job, some are fly by night and hack stuff together like they either dont care or dont know how to do it properly. Just my personal observations over the years. Sometimes a good diy repair is a better job than hiring a contractor.
Hello, great video. Im ready to replace my the burner. The part just came in a few days ago. The question i have is the tube you are replacing in the video around 4:35 what is that? Is it also a gas line?. From the factory I received the that tube without a fixed brass fitting. The little brass fitting can slide up and down that tube. Is that ok? Should I use any sealant or gas tape on that brass fitting to secure it better? Sorry for the weird question it just seems weird. I didn't want to start this project before knowing this answer. Hope to hear from you soon.
So that is the pilot tube. It transports gas to the pilot burner to initially ignite the flame. It is suppose to slide up and down the tube because it is a compression fitting, meaning as you tighten, it will compress the tube (soft aluminum) as you tighten and seal it well. It is a pretty important seal, so if it makes you feel better, maybe a little gas seal tape. I didn't because its a compression fitting. I'm not a professional so I would ask a plumber if you are really concerned.
@@studiolund OK thanks for getting back to me. Everthing does seem very easy. The video was great. I will try it for sure. I just can't figure out how that brass fitting will compress onto the tube. If I feel its still loose maybe I will just use the tube and fitting off the old one. Again thanks for getting back to me.
You help me understand how to replace this same kind what I have. I wonder if you pay someone to do that for you how much would they charge you? Advice please!
After installing, I have a minute gas leak on the pilot tube fitting, same place you were getting bubbles. Any other tricks for stopping the leak? I don’t want to over tighten the fitting.
HI, Would you kindly post the name of the store or website, where you purchased the Whirlpool NU50T122- 403 water heater burner? What is the part number? I am greatly appreciated? Thank you.

Do either of those two connections which carry gas need some type of teflon tape or joint compound?
@@CarlosGarcia-ls4hn Gas rated teflon tape (Yellow) should be used wherever there are threads. However, I wouldn't use it on the compression fitting.

Excellent I cleaned out my burner but when installed back again flames where trying to come out in that metal round hole from the face plate

I just want to change my pilot burner wire, can that be changed alone like changing the couple thing alone ?
It is possible, and I've seen some videos about how to do this. However, I do think it's probably easier to swap the whole assembly.
Great job, please be careful
Can the tube that goes to the burner be replaced by itself, without replacing the entire burner assembly?
I believe so, It can be difficult to find the part. Make sure the fitting is replaced with the new tube, that part is vital.
Where did you buy the burner for your unit? I a whirlpool brand and couldn't find it on their website. TIA
ACE Hardware!
Question do I have to drain the water if I’m only replacing the burner?
I did not drain the water to work on the burner. Mine is completely separate from the tank/water supply.
OK, so how do you know which one to get for your water heater water heater look similar to yours
