Wendy and I are super stoked to announce that we are now partnering with bikesonline.com! If you 're liking what you see about the 2023 Marin San Quentin and are thinking about making a purchase, doing so through the affiliate link below with help our channel out! Thanks 🤙 bikesonline-usa.sjv.io/9gGj5Q
I think its may be good for lighter riders in certain situations. I'm 220 and rode it like I was on a monster truck. It ate everything but stantion play after 1 season and noticeably flexy under me. I put a lyrik on and world of difference.
Such a cool place, year round. Have you guys ridden bachelor bike park yet? Pretty sweet up there, plus miles of great trails in the surrounding area, which I’m sure you’re aware of 👍🏻
Looking forward to seeing the actual ride review video! I’ve always been a big fan of Marin bikes. I came very close to buying the El Roy before settling in building up the On One Hello Dave
Not yet! We’ve ridden lots in the Phil’s area, but not the park yet! I’d almost rather ride the lair/Phil’s area to be honest, but I think we’ll probably get a pass this summer. You from the area?
I pretty much felt like riding san quentin all my life (own 2nd gen blue SQ2 now) and so loving it. Wonder how it felt on the new gen. Pls do ride reviw soon. Wish i was as lucky as you are to be able to be given bikes by marin to try
Nice man, I think you’d love the new bike, the geo is loads better. I’m hoping to take it out for its first proper ride today or tomorrow and will be posting the first ride review on Sunday!
Also pls recommend upgrades (if any) for anyone who intended to join enduro race with it. I took mine to enduro race and i can say mine's race-y enough considering i did so much better than quite a number of full sus-er in the race 🤘🏻
We lived/worked there last summer, supper rad place! Big Bear has a lot more groomed/man made jump lines, but not as much exposed technical riding as Mamoth. Don’t get me wrong, there’s some gnarly DH stuff (especially out of bounds) but mostly steep loamers, not too many rocks
Question, I'm 5' 7" and am building one of these bikes up using parts I have kicking around in my garage. But I don't want to get a dropper for it until I've used it a few months to make sure I'm happy with it. So for now I just want to get a solid seat post but not sure what length to buy. Any tips? My dropper on my fS is a ful 170 and I use all of it plus a bit (I have long friggin legs).
@@ridingwithjoshandwendy I did a few snow rides already but it’s not the same so more rides needed to tell what the bike really capable of. Good luck man!
It gets the job done; the bike hangs at a bit of an angle (tires in towards the stand, saddle out) and can’t be adjusted. The weight is a bit unbalanced, especially with bikes with a long front end and short chainstays like the San Quentin, so I’ve been putting my tool box on the back leg to make sure it doesn’t tip went torquing on bolts on the front of the bike. But it’s a good deal and folds down super small which was a must for me. 3.5 stars haha
@@ridingwithjoshandwendy thank you for the honesty. Know another similar stand that might be better? I'm in the market for one and I'd like to do it right the first time if I can but I'm also balling on a budget so asking all the questions so I can hopefully get it figured out
@@ridingwithjoshandwendy see that's my thoughts as well with the park tool stuff I'm just some dude who wants a nice bike who will occasionally do some work on it I'll probably use the stand more just to store the bike when I'm not writing it
I can get a specialized fuse 27.5 on sale for 1099, or this bike with my discount for 1800? Never owned a mountain bike but I have a lot of experience on dirt jump bikes and mx in the past ( I was a B class mx rider and I used to send it on a bike when I was younger) -31 now looking for a new hobby and I have an awesome mtn bike park/ trails 10 mins from my house. Need some direction. I’m 5’8” 170lbs.
The base level Fuse 27.5 I’m assuming? That has pretty poor components, even for the discounted price (coil fork, 9 speed drivetrain, 2 piston brakes, etc.) The spec level on the SQ3 is more comparable to the the Fuse Comp, which specialized sells for $3,000. I’d say if you can fork out the $1800 for the SQ3 you won’t be disappointed!!
Just out of curiosity how tall are you? I seem to fall between medium and large so I'm not sure what size to go with. I come from a bmx background so I'm used to throwing the bike around. I'm 5'10" 185
I’m between sizes as well and chose to size up to the XL. The super low seat tube makes that possible, which is awesome! But if you’re wanting to use it as more of DJ bike you can take on a trail ride I’d size down. You want to race/ride gnarly features than size up!
By any chance. may you please ride a trail 😅and let me know how it’s feel climbing ?? 😅😅😅I know for sure it’s going to be playful and probably going downhill is going to be a blast but i wonder how feel the pedaling😂 😅😅 😂
alright honest question, why have a low seat tube when your dropper will be sticking out anyways? it just looks kinda ugly in my opinion, but i may be wrong?
No I completely agree, like I said in the video you really need to upgrade to a longer dropper to maximize the low seat tube. I’ve already slammed the 200mm post into the frame and with my 32” inseam it will work for climbing, but not idea. I’m hoping to try out a 240 mm PNW post soon!
@@ridingwithjoshandwendy oh my bad i did not hear that part at all 😬. I agree it is definetly nice but personally as a rather short person i found 150mm dropper to work mostly fine with relatively tall seat tube on my growler. I wish they would spec a longer dropper post on the san quentin though to get full use of the short seat tube
You’re good! I was pretty stoked that they speced the XL with a 200mm post, sadly not many OEM brands are making bigger than that right now. I think dropper post technology will have to advance/trickle down further before super low seat tube bikes like this can really be optimized
@@ridingwithjoshandwendy oh and i really like how top tube and seat stay are perfectly in line, usually XL makes bikes look a bit funky so im glad there are some real clean bikes for you tall people out there!
Yep, it is and they do haha. I sadly can't share photos over comments, but here's a link to buy an XL from BikesOnline (it's an affiliate link so if you buys from them our channel will get a small percentage of the sale): bikesonline-usa.sjv.io/9gGj5Q

Love the san Qui-eh 3.
Snow is my favorite to ride on! Especially when it’s snowing! Love it
The bomber z2 fork is awesome.
Good to hear, I’m excited to give it a go!

Ya, it’s definitely a bit fleecier than my Lyrik. I plan on doing some back to back testing in a bit and will share that here!
Fox fork basically
Saut,Riding, like it! awesome unboxing- take it easy-
Thank you 🤙🤙
Im waiting for my sq3 today
Nice!! Did you get the 27.5" or the new 29"?
Pnw max at 200mm iirc. I run the oneup 240 on one of my bikes
Shoot, I had that confused! Thanks for straightening that up for me 🤙
“Sadly, we’re in Bend, Or” never heard anyone say that before! Bend is amazing!! 😜
…I know, I know… you were talking about the snow 🤘🏻
Hahaha Wendy called me out on that too 😂 Bend is amazing, even in the winter! The riding is just a little more limited

It looks nice! Do you know how much the original assembly of the bike weighs? Greetings from Basque Country🤟🏼
Hey there, thanks for the comment!! My size XL weighed 31 lbs stock

Good call! And nice job on your results! Always fun beating people with bikes that cost 2-3 as much as yours lol
I’m looking forward to your review. I thought you were based out of Big Bear? I’ve done Mammoth bike park but have not done Big Bear since the 90s.

I would go with something on the longer side since this bike has such a low seat tube, and you can always cut it down if you need
@@ridingwithjoshandwendyhow do you take the spacer off I’m new to mountain biking
Can’t wait for the trail to dry up so I can really try out my middle child, since I am in Chicago land, that will probably still be quite a while😂
It’s rough getting a new bike this time of year haha! I think I’m going to try to sneak in a cold partials snowy ride this week, wish me luck 😅
@@ridingwithjoshandwendy I did a few snow rides already but it’s not the same so more rides needed to tell what the bike really capable of. Good luck man!
Definitely not, especially on a bike like the middle child, you want to rip that on some fast descents and big jumps!
I am almost 6' and running on M, I prefer it that way. Like on my pIvot Bikes. On my Santa nomad its L
The vicious snow pup made an appearance at 5:24
Lol he sure did 😂😂
Do the brake levers have reach adjust?
Yes! They are the M4100 levers, which have allen key adjustable reach
I want one!
It’s a pretty awesome bike!!
@@ridingwithjoshandwendy I’ve just built my second Nukeproof scout but I am tempted to get one of these
If you like getting your seat completely out of the way like I do it’s hard to beat!
I order one from govelo. I wonder if all the sq3 comes with that pedals so i dont have to order one.
It most likely won't come with decent pedals, so plan on buying your own
My only question is how are you enjoying that bike stand I'm actually thinking about buying one.
Happy to help! It’s probably the best budget option from what I’ve seen. The Park Tools PCS 10.3 is twice as much; doubt it’s twice as good though

It will climb very good, the sta is steep at 77 and the stack is decently high. I have a feeling this bike will do very well.
