    Take some grocery sacks, a bunch of them and double, triple, quadruple layer them. Then put them around your oil filter as you're removing it. All the oil will spill in to the grocery sacks and then when it's done, you can take your rag and wipe up any excess mess. Then you can take your time putting on the new filter.

    Awesome you always do your own oil change! We have this really cool guy who does ours on the side. I normally watch and help him out! Great video, very informative!

      Thank you! Yes, its really not too hard and I've always been comfortable around engines. Its videos like this which have helped me in similar situations.

    I've also heard you don't need to pre-fill your new filter. Just wipe some new oil on the o-ring. I do this with all my cars too. Seems to be fine. In fact, most car oil change videos don't tell you to pre-fill the oil filter.

    You should prep before a vid. Always run the motor to warm the oil. Did you try moving the oil drain hose to the plug hole? Finally, remove your gear so you have easier access and don't risk trashing with oil.

      Thanks for the comment, drain hose cannot reach the plug as there is only one plug on Nautique at the center of the boat.

    You don’t have to suck it from the pigtail. You can extract it directly from the dip stick tube. The dipstick tube is probably better honestly as you can get it into the oil pan.

    • @wake_mann
      @wake_mann  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am aware of this but thanks for making sure. I prefer the pigtail as I believe it's a better place to catch the settling fragments.

      Most mechanics will tell you to steer clear of using the dipstick. It us very easy to accidentally stick the tube to far down and get it caught around the crank then things get $$$$ if u cant get it back out.

    Put a zip lock baggie around the filter being removed.

      I started using grocery bags after someone else made the same comment, works great, thx.

    Just did on the ZZ6, exact same procedure. Oil filter was a pain to get loose. Much rather have GM block of Raptor still though.

      @wake_mann  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like the performance and sound level of the GM but loved the ease of oil changes on the raptor. Good to know on ZZ6

    Would changing your oil under warranty affect the warranty if issues arose?

    • @wake_mann
      @wake_mann  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your engine fails because of the service you perform then I'm sure it would, but otherwise it should not.

    Do you have a video for impeller change?

    • @wake_mann
      @wake_mann  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately not for this boat but I have one for my 2018 24 MXZ I did a couple years ago and I just did my 2022 G23 with the zz6, which should be similar to the H6, and the video for this impeller change will be published March 7th.
