Hi WM - Every time I watch you replacing things like impellers and fuel filters, I think about how much I appreciate my service tech!!
Haha, I hear ya. I would certainly prefer to have a tech do it but just doesn't make sense when they are 6 hours away. I do like to know how to get it done on my own too though.
Those 3 bolts do not need to be removed all the way. Just loosen all of them - Those small o-rings hold the bolts to the pulley to avoid risk of dropping them. I learned this from other older videos. I also learned, taking that extra rear panel out allows for much better access to the pulley. It takes 2 minutes by removing 3 screws. Your content is always appreciated and it’s helped me with my first ever G23. Keep the videos coming.
Thanks for the info and support!
Great tutorial and lessons learned! We have a G23 on order and I’m boning up on all your maintenance vids to see what I’m getting myself into! Seems quite a bit more difficult than the Malibu, but still doable 😊.
Thank you and congrats! Hope the videos help and yes maintenance seems a tad more difficult on Nautique.
I'm no expert, but I believe your impeller will adjust itself into the right direction the first time you fire the engine up. At least I'm 99% sure that's what I was told when we replaced ours on our Ilmor
I agree
correct. on my direct drive it's easier to access, but I put the impeller on the shaft and i hold onto the whole pulley and use it to insert the impeller. Works great. Also, to remove the impeller, just use leverage from the shaft when you're removing the pulley and it comes right out super easy without having to get a pair of plyers.
Amazing man! I did it to our G25!
Thanks a lot sharing this tutorial its a big help! Best regards! ❤❤❤
Glad I could help. Thank you for the support!
@@wake_mann it is! Thanks again. More videos to come man! 🍻!
Hey, sorry this is late… i had impeller issue last year at the horseshoe bend ramp last year. My engine fired fine, but i was smoking a belt… I actually had a spare impeller on boat, so I sent the kids to the playground, and an hour later we were on the water. … my impeller had stuck is what happened… and would not budge. Once back home, i ordered one of those blue run dry impellers, have not had any issues 50 or so hours later. My set up is different because mine is not closed cooling so I always back flush my block then force air to help run all the lake water out.(basically winterize it)
Good Video. We just got back from Helena this week… might head to BHC Sunday.
Tip...Do not remove the impeller housing bolts as you are removing the housing. The small o-rings will retain the bolts and you won't lose the bolts. And, do not worry about folding the new impeller to get it in. Just spin it a little. Then, when you go to reassemble the housing, put the bolts in with the new small o-rings. It is not a tough job if not for the limited access. I have a GS22 with this engine. It is time to do this. I'm not looking forward to it. But, your video did help me to understand the layout and I'll just have to cleanout the side compartment and figure out how to get my 6'-3" 245 lb self into that compartment.
Thank you, I just got did it for the 2nd time and I actually did just what you described. It was much easier the 2nd time.
Thank you
How often do you replace impeller and the fuel filter?
You are supposed to do the impeller once a year or every 100 hours. I believe the fuel filter is once a year, but check your manual.
Ty for the video what size socket for the tensioner?
You're welcome. It was 5/8 I believe
Just need a 1/2" drive. No socket required.
Damn that engine looks like a bitch to service. Might be better to pull the whole engine first next time lol.
Haha, I could've made it easier on myself if I would've removed the panel I was squeezing in next to but i guess I like a challenge.
