    He had vitamin B12 deficiency and many other vitamin deficiencies... I did micronutrient lab screening test with Vibrant Laboratories.. It tests all the vitamins, minerals and amino acids and fatty acid levels. We will do saliva microbiome testing and try to see if there is a pattern with this taste and smell problem that causes the picky eating... and then hormone levels. also we did urine organic acid testing. and other labs. I recommend lab testing to figure out what is wrong with your child before treatment... figure out what is wrong, do the research, figure out which labs to trust, do the testing. It is so worth it. the doctors will not order these tests. do a Gut zoomer test on the stool with Vibrant Labs. Do not trust the ova and parasite test. Check for parasites also send the stool to the parasitology center in scottsdale arizona. Do not trust the ova and parasite test. Do not trust a GI biopsy result either. Private labs only. If you can dont even go to regular doctor. go to natreopathic doctor if you can.

    Dr. Lions, does it matter which form of B12 is used, cyanocobalamin or methylcobalamin?

    • @navigatingawetism
      @navigatingawetism  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you for your question! The form of B12 can indeed matter depending on individual needs. Cyanocobalamin is a synthetic form of B12 that the body converts into the active forms, methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin. For most people, this conversion works fine. However, some individuals-especially those with certain genetic variations-may benefit more from taking methylcobalamin, as it's already in an active form and easier for the body to use. If you want this form, typically it needs to be ordered from a compounding pharmacy.
      If you're unsure which form is best for you, it’s always a good idea to consult with a healthcare provider that knows your or your child's specific needs.

    How can we test B12 levels in the tissues? My understanding is that blood tests are totally useless and you cannot have too high levels of B12 as it is water soluble.

    • @navigatingawetism
      @navigatingawetism  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for your question! It's true that blood tests for B12 levels can sometimes be misleading, as they only measure what's circulating in the blood and not what's being stored or utilized in tissues.
      To assess B12 at the tissue level, functional markers like methylmalonic acid (MMA) and homocysteine are often used. These tests can give a better indication of how well B12 is being utilized by the body. If you have concerns about B12 levels, it might be helpful to consult with a healthcare provider to interpret results in the context of you or your child's overall health.

    Do the children have to be on b12 injection there whole entire life?

    • @navigatingawetism
      @navigatingawetism  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your question! No, children don’t necessarily have to be on B12 injections for their entire life. The need for B12 supplementation depends on the individual and what’s causing the deficiency or need for extra support. Some children may only need it for a period of time - it's important to understand and resolve what is causing the deficiency. While others might benefit from ongoing supplementation but always with regular monitoring. It’s best to work with a knowledgeable healthcare provider to regularly assess their needs and adjust as they grow.

    We did B-12 injections for a few years with my son when he was really young 3 to 5 years old he is almost 10 now. I would wait until he was sleeping then give it to him, he would sleep right through it. I did not see any difference once we stopped. I don't think it hurt but I didn't see any benefit either.

      Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s great that you found a method that worked for administering the B12 shots while your son was young.
      The most important thing is finding what works best for your child’s unique needs, and it sounds like you made thoughtful decisions along the way.

    How about adults with autism? Can they benefit from B12? And people with other neurodiversions like add or adhd?

    • @navigatingawetism
      @navigatingawetism  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great question! B12 can be beneficial for adults with autism as well, though individual responses can vary. It’s always a good idea to discuss this with a healthcare professional who understands the unique needs of neurodiverse individuals. As for ADD/ADHD, there’s ongoing research into the role of B12 and other nutrients in supporting brain health. Regardless of any diagnosis, testing for B12 deficiencies are a must before taking any B12 supplement.

    Thanks for the Great content 👍is there methyle form or b12 shot or there's only cyanocobalamin form ?

    • @navigatingawetism
      @navigatingawetism  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad you're enjoying the content 😊. Yes, there are B12 shots available in different forms, including both cyanocobalamin and methylcobalamin. Methylcobalamin is the more active form, so some people prefer it if they have trouble converting B12 in the body. However, both forms can be effective, depending on your specific needs.
      It’s always a good idea to consult with a healthcare provider to determine which form might be best for you or your child.

    My son has autism and has ridiculously high B12 a doctor in Norway said that Everytime she does blood work on her autistic patients they have high B12. She said she wasn't sure if it's cuz their body can't digest it or if it's trying to absorb as much as possible!
    His B12 is roughly at 900-1000 when a normal high is 400.

      It seems body is not absorbing B12. I believe consuming vitamin C helps in absorption. Please forgive me if I’m wrong,For instance Iron supplements works well if taken with Vitamin C. If B12 is low. Iron reduces automatically. Vitamin C is working like bridge to connect the required nutrition.

      B12 is absorbed more easily if taken with b complex. You need them together as they work in synergy to be used for all cellular activity

    B12 shots at night?! B12 gives you energy, do it in the morning. Better yet, try yummy tasting B12 vitamins in the morning instead of spending an arm and a leg on prescription shots and also trying to inject your child. There's plenty of great tasting varieties out there and can adjust the mcg accordingly.

      Some autistic kids find meat textures off putting. It took me years to get my daughter to eat meat again…she stopped eating meat at 3 yrs old and had egg allergies. She would only eat Vienna sausages and occasional spam until 6 years old, then started eating hot dogs (thanks to Mickey Mouse clubhouse and that hot dog song). ..then at 8 started trying chicken tenders, pork breakfast sausage, bbq pork ribs. It’s been a journey to say the least. I’ve been giving multivitamin and B12 drops for 3 years now since her meat intake was previously so low. Still working on her

      I totally understand you! I’ve been trying to extend the range of meats/fish my child will tolerate. Some things:”/texture will make my child nauseous and then skip eating the meal…such a struggle…prayers for you, me and all families and children suffering through the diversification of food , eating journey.

      @@olololo9224 praying for you and your family! I learned from the OT therapist to focus on one meat at a time…so I would keep offering the same meat item over and over again. I let her smell it, touch it with her hands and play with it…then let her touch it to her lips, take a lick of it and then finally take a small bite…then I ask her to hold the bit of it in her mouth for 10 seconds to explore the taste of it/the flavor….and then ask her to try and swallow it. Did this with every new food item…it took 6 months to get her to eat chicken tenders! But now, she eats them whenever they’re available. Has made eating out a lot less stressful!!! Good luck to you and your loves!
