What are your thoughts on fluoride in our drinking water? Have you taken any steps to reduce your family's fluoride exposure? Share your experiences and any noticeable differences you've observed!
How can we tell which Vitimins are synthetic (man made) and which are natural? So much junk out there!
How does oxidative stress and inflamation contribute to Autism? you mentioned that flouride may contribute to these which in turn can contribute to autism
What test do I need to have my kid to undergo?
Thank you very much for this inflamation.I have done FRAT test for my non-verbal son and came back binding antibody positive. Also, his OAT test shows neurotransmitter are in a good level except some Dopamine deficiency.I thought, neurotransmitters should be abnormal,,when FRAT test binding antibody positive as folate and neurotransmitter work along .Kindly advice.
thanks for pointing out the blood test results. the serum folate for my son is not abnormal but I strongly believe in his folate deficiency as he has all the symptoms plus being non-verbal
You're very welcome! It’s great that you’re looking at both lab results and symptoms to get a full picture of what’s going on with your son. Have you looked into the FRAT test? It can provide more insight into folate-related issues, especially for non-verbal kids. Would love to hear what you've explored so far!
Try having autism, ADHD, CPTSD and Savant syndrome. Very high intelligence but offset by, what was I saying ? Oh look ! A pretty bird !
I’m about to get my 4 year old son diagnosed in February. Pretty sure he has autism just don’t know how severe it is. He knows very few words. We have gotten his hearing checked, checked to see if he had issues with his mouth or throat..nothing. He’s had lots of speech therapy and little to no progress. Thank you for this video. Very helpful
You're not alone on this journey! 💙 Many parents have been in your shoes, wondering about the next steps and what support will help the most. It’s great that you’ve already checked so many things and are looking for answers. Keep leaning into your instincts - trust yourself! We’re all here to support and learn from each other! 🌟
I respectfully disagree with you on one of the points you make in this video. Going further upstream, the use of a letterboard is being blocked by ASHA who licenses Speech Language Pathologists. This has blocked trialing a letterboard when a non-speaker is working with a licensed SLP (which would be many non-speakers). This has limited the number of "early adopters". One of the many things that SLPs are trained to do is match people with technology that can help them to communicate when they cannot speak. A letterboard is one AAC that is off the table when an SLP is matching a non-speaker with the AAC that's best for them. ASHA's website states there is a lack supporting scientific evidence to support the use of letterboards and says this can be potentially harmful because it is similar to a long-discredited technique known as Facilitated Communication. My feeling is the studies done using 2 different photos being shown to a speller and a facilitator and seeing what gets spelled needs to be redone. This is how Facilitated Communication got to be discredited and my feeling, as a trained research scientist, this is how newer spelling methods can be validated as being the speller's words.
Thank you for sharing your perspective! Regarding the studies that discredited Facilitated Communication (FC), I think it’s important to consider how research ethics have evolved. The methodology where a speller was shown one word and the facilitator was shown another is problematic by today’s standards for a few key reasons: 1️⃣ Lack of Informed Consent & Autonomy - Many of the individuals tested were not given a clear explanation of what was being done or the opportunity to decline participation. Ethical research today must respect the autonomy of non-speaking individuals, ensuring they understand and willingly participate in any validation studies. 2️⃣ Unnatural Testing Conditions - These studies introduced conditions that disrupted natural communication. A breakdown in performance under artificial conditions does not prove a lack of authorship-it could simply indicate stress, dysregulation, or difficulty adapting to unfamiliar demands. 3️⃣ Ignoring Individualized Learning & Skill Development - Modern spelling-based communication is often a skill that develops over time. In S2C there is a progression from the 3 boards, to one board, to the laminated board and then to the keyboard. Ethical validation studies should account for individual differences in motor abilities, processing speed, and anxiety, rather than assuming immediate accuracy under rigid test conditions. 4️⃣ Alternative, Ethical Validation Approaches - There are better ways to study authorship today without using deceptive or restrictive methods. For example: 🔹 Longitudinal studies tracking progress over time. 🔹 Analyzing unique word use, personal experiences, and novel sentence generation. 🔹 Eye-tracking studies showing visual focus on letters before spelling. I absolutely support the need for rigorous scientific research on spelling-based communication, but the methods should be designed in a way that respects and empowers non-speakers rather than setting them up to fail and not even getting their consent to do research on them. Science evolves, and it’s time for research methodologies to evolve too! Thankfully there have been 2 such studies and I'm sure more will be published.
I have a non-verbal autistic son , an older son with epilepsy and my middle son is likely autistic and was diagnosed with schizophrenia at 18. I have seen a genetic specialist, and nothing obvious has been discovered, but it certainly seems that there must be a connection. My father passed at 55 y.o. from cancer of the myelin in his brain. Two nephews also dealing with ADHD, Schizoaffective Disorder and Autism as well.
Thank you for sharing your family's journey-what an incredible amount you’ve navigated. It certainly makes sense to wonder about a deeper connection, and while genetic specialists may not have found anything obvious yet, research is evolving all the time but it's great you are being proactive now. Your story highlights just how complex and interconnected these conditions can be. You’re not alone in this, and I truly appreciate you being part of this community!
Dr Lyons, I would like to know your thoughts on this study. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5794882/
I believe this is an issue for my non-verbal autistic son. When I give him folinic acid, it seems to improve. A read a study that was done with this, though it was at much higher doses than can't be easily obtained
Can you give me the name of the folinic acid please
@nicolegrant2530 The brand I use is Seeking Health Folinic Acid. I purchase it from Amazon.
What are the troublemakers?
Great question! The troublemakers are antibodies that interfere with cerebral folate transport, which can impact brain function and in particular speech. I touch on this briefly in this short video, but if you’re interested in a deeper dive, I go into much more detail in the full-length video. I’d love to hear your thoughts after watching! Thanks for being here.
There are many videos of people doing S2C on TH-cam which clearly show people looking away from the spelling board while touching it. In these eye movement and eye focus is irrelevant, because the gaze is clearly turned away from the letter board. Were these cases included in the study? Here is an example, among many, showing someone looking away while spelling: th-cam.com/video/kuT0bUoRh0Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xsceTy7I7RAMtGls&t=191 Has S2C been tested with the simple procedure of giving the assistant different information or questions than the speller? This is a simple, cheap and easy way to check if the person assisting the speller is interfering with the communicative intentions of the speller. When these tests have been done, (see: Frontline documentary "Prisoners of Silence") we see that the assistant, probably unconsciously, interferes with the communication and there is no evidence that the speller is able to express their thoughts via the method. Perhaps questions about eye-tracking are a distraction or red herring from the simple tests that could be much more useful and definitive in indicating whether this method works.
Why you are not showing ups t the top of autism treatment results. I have been searching for a year and half and you are by far the best informative videos about autism
Wow, your comment truly means the world to me-thank you!! I’m so glad you found my content helpful. The fact that you’ve been searching for over a year and feel this way is both humbling and motivating. Unfortunately, the best, science-backed information doesn’t always rise to the top of search results, but with amazing people like you here, we can change that! If you feel inclined, sharing these videos or engaging with them (likes, comments, etc.) helps more parents find this content. I’m grateful to have you in this community-let’s keep pushing for better, clearer information for all!

Thank you. My son is 5 and thanks to this kind of content I realize that he is not cognitively disabled but cant control his body. It's a new life.
Thank you so much for sharing that-it truly means the world to me. 💛 Recognizing your son's strengths and understanding the challenges he faces is such a powerful shift. It opens up so many possibilities for him and your family. You're giving him the gift of being truly seen, and that will make all the difference. I'm honored that this content could play a part in your journey. Wishing you and your son the very best as you navigate this new perspective together! 💛
Grapefruit seed extract not grape seed extract. These are 2 different things. Grapefruit seed extract has been used for a LONG time. Some use it for 2 weeks to help with candida overgrown.
My son has salicylate sensitivity. Is sulforaphane works for him? As I know broccoli is high in sals. Thanks for your videos
Would the general recommended DV dosage be a good starting point for my 5 year old? Thank you for the video
I am sharing my experience, I was giving my son high does of omega 3 , gradually stopped bitting . I went on vacation and I I had no room for the big bottle and I was having smaller cod liver oil. the bitting went back from giving cod liver oil alone and no omega 3. once I returned back and give back omega 3,. bitting stopped
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It’s incredible how you observed such a clear connection between omega-3 intake and your son’s biting behavior. Your story highlights the importance of consistency and finding the right supplements that work for each child’s unique needs. Thank you again for taking the time to share-it’s stories like yours that help parents feel less alone in this journey! 💙
My son only eat snacks even stopped eating nuggets. I had to step in, I am cooking a a mixture of all goodies specially beets and carrots, pumpkin seeds, black seed and whatever veggies I have and have them in the blender and give a 100 ml syringe every day, I also make another syringe with kefir and powdered eggs and I include the omega three and the other supplements when giving the syringe. this completely eliminated the conistapation but no other changes
Thank you again for sharing your journey and contributing so much to this community! Your determination and creativity in supporting your son’s health are truly inspiring. It’s amazing to see how your proactive approach helped eliminate constipation. In your other comment, you addressed biting behavior, and here you’ve shown that different challenges often require different solutions. This is such an important reminder for all parents: there’s rarely one magical fix, but rather a series of thoughtful steps that address specific needs. Your dedication is a testament to the power of perseverance and how small, consistent actions can lead to meaningful progress. Cheering you on every step of the way-you’re doing an incredible job! 💙
What sulforaphane supplements have you tried for your child, and what were the results?
One thing I’m hazy about is how to convert umol from the studies to mg? I used a broccoli sprout supplement from biopure that is 250 mg per tablet… so not sure how much to take?
Thank you for your comment! The sulforaphane in Avmacol is different from what's used in the Biopure supplement. Because of these differences, it’s challenging to make a direct comparison or conversion between the two. It’s definitely a good idea to consult your doctor for personalized guidance. If you’re not noticing any effects at 250 mg, you could easily consider increasing. How long have you been taking the 250 mg dose? Sometimes it takes a little time to notice changes, depending on your goals for using the supplement. Let me know if you'd like more clarity on anything!
From mothers with Autism, yes. Men with Autism doesn’t have children.
i try it super it help a lot to make my kid have deep sleep but the question for how long i can use it ? because really with out it he can sleep more than 4 hours at night?
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I’m so glad to hear it’s helping your child get deeper sleep-that’s such a big win! As for how long to use it, it really depends on your child’s unique needs. Some parents find it helpful to use consistently for a few months, while others use it as part of a broader strategy to support sleep over time. If your child is still having trouble sleeping without it, it might be worth looking into what could be contributing to the difficulty-things like diet, sensory needs, or even routines before bedtime. Use his response to NDF Calm as clues that you are looking in the right direction. Does he need something stronger? Does he need a supplement to complement NDF Calm? If you’d like, I’d be happy to share more resources or ideas that might help. Just let me know! You’re doing an amazing job supporting your child’s well-being. And congrats on getting more sleep!!
Why is aluminum packaging an issue? Ur not ingesting it? Its the same thing like using aluminum foil for ur food? Am I wrong?
Great question! It’s true that aluminum packaging or foil might not seem like an issue at first because you’re not directly ingesting it. However, under certain conditions-like exposure to heat, acidity, salt or long periods of time-aluminum can leach into food or other contents. For example, if you’re wrapping acidic foods like tomatoes or citrus in aluminum foil, there’s a higher chance of leaching. While the amount of aluminum that transfers can vary, some doctors do not recommend this supplement due to the packaging because aluminum has been linked to potential health concerns when exposure is excessive over time. These connections are still being studied, but it’s always a good idea to stay informed and mindful of what comes into contact with food or products we use regularly. I’d love to hear your thoughts-do you use aluminum foil or packaging often? Have you tried this supplement or another NAC supplement not wrapped in foil? It’s a fascinating topic to explore together!
@ lol so I shouldn’t drink canned soda too yikes everything is bad nowadays

First you said Gingko, now you’re saying oregano
Thank you for this video. I found some articles about this and already contacted my daughters doctor to talk about taking Leucovorin. I'm hoping to hear back from the doctor this week. It's great to have the Frat test done if needed to get a prescription.
You’re so welcome, and thank you for sharing! It’s fantastic that you’ve already reached out to your daughter’s doctor to discuss leucovorin-that’s such a proactive step. The FRAT test can definitely be a helpful tool to determine if it’s the right fit for her and give guidance on possible dosage needed. It's typically best to do lab testing so that you can quantify need and change. If you’d like, I’m here to help answer any questions or provide additional resources while you’re waiting to hear back from the doctor. You’re doing an amazing job advocating for your daughter’s health and well-being! Please keep us updated on how things go-I’d love to hear about your progress.
New subscriber here! I’d like to know what you think about zeolite? Thanks!
Welcome to the community, and thank you for subscribing! 😊 Zeolite is definitely an interesting topic-it’s often talked about for its ability to bind to certain toxins, which can be helpful in specific situations. That said, not all zeolite products are created equal, and their effectiveness can vary depending on factors like purity, particle size, and how they’re processed. It’s also really important to know what toxin you’re targeting. Zeolite binds to specific substances, so lab testing can be incredibly helpful in identifying what’s at play and ensuring the approach is both safe and effective. If you’re considering using zeolite, make sure to choose a high-quality product and consult with a healthcare provider to see if it’s a good fit for your needs. I’d love to hear what sparked your interest in zeolite-feel free to share more! Looking forward to connecting with you as you explore these topics!
This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
You said you wouldn’t start with this probiotic. So what to start with then on probiotics?
Great question! Choosing the right probiotic really depends on your child’s unique needs, as there isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer. Factors like their current gut health, dietary habits, and any specific challenges they’re facing all play a role in determining the best starting point. That’s why I’m careful about making blanket recommendations. Instead, I focus on guiding parents through a personalized approach, step by step. This is actually one of the key areas we dive into on the Navigating AWEtism platform. It’s designed to help parents cut through the overwhelm and find solutions tailored to their child’s unique situation. If you’re interested, I’d love to share more about how the platform could support you in exploring probiotics and so much more. I also host live streams where we dive deeper into these kinds of topics, and I’d be happy to have more of a conversation with you there. You’re doing an amazing job seeking out the best for your child, and I’m here to help however I can!

Why we have fybromyalgia CFS chronic.migraine ibs
If the persons in the study can select and then point to the letters they have selected, why don't they just use a (fixed) iPad that speaks out the letters for them? Now you still give the opponents their benefit of their doubts, because people holding the letterboard could indeed interfere.
Thank you for your question! It’s important to understand that communication is deeply personal and what works best can vary from person to person. For some non-speaking individuals with autism, a letterboard provides the level of precision and motor planning they need to express their thoughts effectively. While technologies like iPads can be helpful for some, they may not accommodate the specific motor or sensory challenges others face. The role of the letterboard partner is also critical-they provide support, not interference. It’s great that you’re curious about how these methods work! Raising these questions helps us all understand the diversity of communication needs and approaches.
@@navigatingawetism Why don’t you try showing something to the autistic person that their helper can’t see, to make sure it isn’t the helper subconsciously authoring the messages? You’re familiar with facilitated communication so you know how dangerous it can be to put words in the mouth of a disabled person that are not their own. That’s why ensuring that it’s not the helper authoring the messages is so important. It’s not harmless if it’s happening; disabled people have been taken away from their families, even sexually abused based on messages they supposedly communicated using a facilitator that were later found to be authored by the facilitator themselves.
Great video! Very informative for parents . I have a question- does lecovirin medication cause any sideeffects in long run for children .
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m glad you found the video informative. 😊 Regarding your question, leucovorin has been used for decades in humans and is generally considered safe, even for long-term use. However, comprehensive long-term studies specifically in children are limited, so it’s always important to monitor for any changes or side effects over time. Please feel free to ask any other questions-I'm here to help!
Hi. Can we give oregano essential oil ( one drop a day diluted with water ) to an 8 year old child? Thank you.
Hi! Thanks for your question. It’s really important to clarify that oregano essential oil and oil of oregano are not the same, even though they come from the same plant. Here’s a quick breakdown: Oregano Essential Oil: This is highly concentrated and typically used for aromatherapy or topical applications. It’s not generally safe for internal use due to its potency, especially for children. Oil of Oregano: This is a diluted form, often mixed with a carrier oil like olive oil, and can be ingested in small amounts under proper guidance. It contains beneficial compounds like carvacrol and thymol but at a much safer concentration than the essential oil. If you’re considering using oregano essential oil for your child, I’d recommend proceeding with extreme caution. Most functional medicine doctors do not recommend taking essential oils internally.
What were the special diets?
Started on Leucovorin about 5 months ago and I think we're starting to see some good speech improvements. Never did the FRAT test, his psychiatrist agreed it was harmless and prescribed it.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It’s wonderful to hear that you’re starting to see speech improvements-those milestones are always so encouraging. :-) Leucovorin can be such a valuable tool for some children, and it’s great that your psychiatrist was open to prescribing it. The FRAT test can be helpful to guide decisions more specifically. If you’re curious about whether it might still provide additional insights, it could be worth discussing with your doctor. You’re doing an amazing job advocating for your child’s progress and well-being. Keep up the great work, and please feel free to share any updates-I’d love to hear how things continue to go for you both!

for anyone who comes here with the aim of seeking healing for autism. the child is still under 5 years old, focus on: 1. healing inflammation with the CFGFSF diet and do a food allergy test then avoid allergic foods 2. repair nerves with vitamin B 3. repair digestion. do it well, 2-3 weeks you will find a miracle. I have helped dozens of children get out of autism, one of them is my own child who has recovered. I only ask for prayers for goodness in the world and goodness in the hereafter. above the age of 5 years, healing becomes less than optimal until the age of 13 years. because the plastic nature of the brain will stop at an average age of 13 years. why is research on autism less than optimal? because the golden moment is very short. under the age of 5 years.
The problem is finding a doctor to prescribe. I take my son to a renowned autism clinic and the doctors don’t know about any of the experimental treatments.
Digestive enzymes have helped with my daughter’s eye contact and reduced her stimming.
That’s fantastic to hear-thank you for sharing! It’s amazing how something like digestive enzymes can make such a noticeable difference. Improved eye contact and reduced stimming are such meaningful changes, and it sounds like you’re really tuned into what’s helping your daughter. If you’re open to sharing more, I’d love to hear about how you introduced them or any other changes you’ve noticed. You’re doing such a great job supporting her progress-keep it up!
@@navigatingawetismHi there. I actually read a book called Enzymes for Autism and other neurological conditions by Karen DeFelice and it was honestly life changing for my daughter. She’s went from fleeting eye contact, being in her own world and not responsive, to now giving fantastic eye contact and interacting with others. She had issues with her gut which now seems to be resolved too and isn’t getting unwell as much. Still speech delayed, but I’m delighted with the progress. Hope this helps other parents out there.
Thank you for your videos, very helpful💚
Thank you so much for your kind words and support! 💚 I’m so glad you’re finding the videos helpful-that means the world to me. If there are any specific topics you’d like to see covered, feel free to share. I’m always here to help and would love to hear from you!
Idk if I’m autistic I always felt like I was different, this need to act or perform to fit in
I was given enemas as a child for chronic constipation. Since then I had multiple chemical sensitivity symptoms due to our toxic environment. I have been doing enemas for more than 30 years and loving every last second of it.
Did you just say you love getting enemas for the last 30 years???? Wtf. Go eat some fiber, drink lotsss of water(half your body weight in Oz but honestly a gallon is fine for like 150lb person lol) and then take some prebiotics and probiotics and I promiseeee you you’ll poop unless your butthole is messed up and doesn’t wanna come out right and gets stuck but anyways enemas are the last thing I’d want… that’s insane tbh.
OH I thought we were talking about Korn or slipknot MY BAD LMAO
