Ys 8's initial translation was hilarious. Some of the worst lines were: "I-I was actually a medical student.." "A medical student...?" "That's a student who studies medicine." "My name is Allison... Please, just call me Allison." "He looks terrified.." (said while looking at an inanimate object) and of course the Archeozoic Big Hole. But there are countless other errors like Primordials becoming Ancient Species, character names being closer to the romanized word rather than the intended English equivalent like Icarusia instead of Iclucia (there's a song called Iclucian Dance so this mistake is really strange), and just awkward sentences.
I still remember the pre-release hype for Fallout 76 here. I live in West Virginia, and people who knew the game was coming were **so excited!** There were in-game tours planned, play parties, Fallout fan launch parties… The WV Tourism Bureau (or whatever the official name is) was actually planning a special tour route through the state for out-of-state and international players, which would showcase key areas, monuments, landmarks, and cities throughout the Mountain State! Local gamers were so happy to finally get to show off our beautiful state, and honored that Bethesda was recreating it all in a major game like this. So you can imagine the backlash when the game released, and it turned out to be the mother of all Bethesda bug infestations. Fallout has never been that big a deal for me as a gamer, so I just breezed right by it while flipping Bethesda some extra birds. But I do know a few local gamers who STILL haven’t forgiven them for Fallout 76 and their overall attitude about it. Heck, one of my father’s students went out and bought every used copy of Fallout 76 he could find, and used them for target shooting at his family’s farm! The game may be fixed, but I reckon that level of animosity ain’t going nowhere anytime soon.
Huh....I'm actually a Boone County resident, and I was totally unaware it got that hyped up for the locals......then again, I don't play Fallout admittedly, so that's probably why, lol.

@@runedragon1985 That actually ended up being a half myth centering around it's name. True, Squaresoft weren't in a great position at the time and Final Fantasy did get them through the rough patch, but it wasn't as "do or die" that the myth says it was.
@@lordlundar Yeah it was less "This company will fold if this doesn't work." and more "If this one flops too, we're throwing in the towel and switching to a more stable form of software development."
Yoshi-P managed to not only resurrect FF14, but nurture it's growth into an MMO so popular it's currently on the verge of if not already overtaking WORLD OF WARCRAFT in player count. If that alone isn't a real life phoenix rebirth of a game, I struggle to think of one that is.
It really amazes me how some poorly terrible games on release can be improved upon years later and end up being the game that was promised. Granted it would of been if they were great on release to begin with but at least give the benefit of the doubt that the developers actually listen to criticism and actually do something. Not every bad game gets that opportunity.
Games I expect to see on this list, No Man's Sky for how the developer finally giving people what they wanted and also because of the upcoming Nintendo Switch port, Cyberpunk 2077 because they finally fixed the game as well as gained new and returning players thanks to the Edgerunners anime by Studio Trigger, and Final Fantasy 14 for how broken the original game was that they decided to reboot the game world after BLOWING IT UP IN A MASSIVE SPECTACLE, and transformed it into A Realm Reborn Edit: Welp, I was right on those 3 being on the list, surprised that he didn't mention Edgerunners and the game update based around said anime
@@lordlundar true, maybe one of these days he'll do a countdown on videogames with good adaptations, I can already see a couple of these on the list, Sonic the Hedgehog (movies, some of the cartoons, the Archie and IDW comics), Cyberpunk Edgerunners (its Studio Trigger, 'nuff said) , Castlevania (looking forward to the sequel series starring Richter), Arcane (it's amazing how they made League of Legends more interesting than the game itself), Persona 4 (if only for Yu Narukami being a cloud cuckoolander), Pokémon (PICK ONE), and probably others
NMS is the poster child for "we fucked up, and then we made an outstanding game" because that's pretty much what they did. I don't have a bad word to say about this game, not a one.
You can tell this list was made or at least written before September because Cyberpunk's revival was arguably helped by another big thing of note: *Edgerunners* Studio Triggers hit prequel series has made waves online thanks to its depiction of the world of 2077 and the atmosphere of the game being represented so well (along with amazing characters), that it drew people back in who wanted to give the game another shot and experiance the world of Cyberpunk 2077, leading to the game having at one point OVER A MILLION DAILY PLAYERS!
Honestly, I'm surprised Nickelodeon All Star Brawl wasn't at least an honorable mention. Because much like the OTHER games on this list, it was overhyped beyond all reason ("smash killer" ring any bells?) and released as a VERY lackluster smash clone that everyone wrote off. But the devs didn't give up. They kept trying to make improvements and listened to the fans. But I think the moment it was clear it was truly on path to be fixed was when Jenny's reveal trailer dropped, as not only did they get the MOST requested character in, she also came with the one thing pretty much everyone was demanding: VOICE ACTING.
The part with NISA and it's Falcom localizations hits harder after the official english release of Trails from Zero just as early as this Tuesday. And don't get me started in the ZeroField spreadsheets...
@Grima the Fell Dragon Well, the thing with the Trails from Zero release is that the official localization comes from The Geofront patch, a really, really good localization made by the team by the same name, which was released early 2021, and not much later, so was the patch localizating Trails to Azure, the secuel of Trails from Zero. NISA decided to collab with them to make the official localizations of both games. Here's the thing: Trails from Zero already took more than one year to be officially released with the english translation. And it has one or two errors like text that is straight up not translated. You know, despite that all the work was already done. And the official localization for Trails to Azure will be released in March 2023. Which is, again, a ton of time to wait knowing that the work is already done. The ZeroField spreadsheets, on the other hand, was also a team of fans, creating a tool to translate Trails into Reverie and Kuro no Kiseki in real time. And like, one month before Kuro 2's release, with the team getting ready to work on that, they got a cease & desist from NISA, which made them retire the spreadsheets from their web, and they won't be allowed to work on Kuro 2, of course. So, yeah, Trails fans are, as you may expect, kind of pissed with NISA.
One game that could be on the list is Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia. It went from a glitch-filled mess on release to a functional and slightly glitchy game after patches.
Seeing as you mentioned Ys VIII as a fixed game when the only change was the localisation I want to bring up a similar situation with a South Korean Indie game Lobotomy Corporation in which the original English translation was quite bad seeing as the developers had to learn and write it themselves after the company they got to translate the game originally scammed them and ran off leading to a broken and inconsistent English translation that sometimes even gave flat out wrong information however with Project Moon's second game Library of Ruina they got a proper localization company who also went back and translated Lobotomy Corporation correctly and updated the game so now the story makes sense and the terminology is consisted and correct across the board.
You know Cyberpunk 2077 could probably be on this list. Especially since Edgerunners helped get players to return to the game and they're loving it now!
Absolutely. Cyberpunk 2077 got a huge, No Man's Sky-level comeback. The game doesn't have that many bugs anymore, and what bugs are there are really fucking funny and aren't anything gamebreaking.
I know this list was made before it came out, but I feel like Sonic Frontiers Final Horizon should get an honorable mention, because the updates literally elvated it from good, to one of the 3d Sonic games ever, at least for me. The original Frontiers definitely wasn't broken, or even bad. But it definitely had a couple of glaring issues, such as it being too easy, a lack of momentum, and a pretty weak ending, etc. But when the released the second and third updates, they changed everything. You can spindash, you can keep your momentum, more playable characters that we haven't seen since 06 17 years ago. And the big thing was the new ending. It solved literally every problem with the original. It gave an epic final boss, a new super form, and gave us an actual satisfying climactic finish. It wasn't maybe fixed as well as the ones on this list, but it definitely deserves to be recognized. Especially since all of it was done for FREE.
Street Fighter V comes to mind. I recall people not being too enthused with the art design, gameplay, and character roster. But through patches and DLC smoothing out the rough edges, it actually became a smooth-running fighting game that people really warmed up to (though it was probably the Beta version people weren't pleased with). I think that deserves an honorable mention.
I can think of a couple others that I've heard were "fixed". Mass Effect Andromeda was supposedly patched up, and FNAF Security Breach has a MASSIVE patch not that long ago. However, I've only heard Andromeda is better, and Security Breach, while much more playable, is still not exactly polished. Surprised it wasn't an honorable mention though.
Everyone bagging on Andromeda have either never played it or only touched the early release. The version I got to play wasn’t that bad. The game itself isn’t that bad, it’s just been wrongfully compared to a completed trilogy instead of being judged as the potential start of a new one. But now we’re getting a Mass Effect 4 set back within the Milky Way and… well. I’m not holding my breath.
15:10 , "Goodnight, everybody!" 20:35 , "Woo! Looking cool, Joker!" Oh... looks like we need a screaming Vegeta to break through the video unavailable screen again.
Yeah same here honestly. I played it later on like way after it came out and now I love the series. 9 was really great too. Would have never guessed it was that bad on release
I'll never forget "Paper Mario: The Origami King" had a good launch but.... it had a few bugs. Example: If you were to get all your stamps in the springs near the end of the game and gave it to the Toad that was waiting at the entrance to the rainbow spring then leave after going in it'll essentially softlock you by making your card disappear and the Toad would ask for it again and since you gave it to him already you couldn't get another.
It is a shame that 15 never got all of its dlc content when the project was cancelled it probably would have been an honorable mention on this list if it did. Let’s hope 16 doesn’t go through the same fate.
I love watching these videos and hearing him say "You all know the story of (insert game here)" because I'm like "Actually I don't. Teach me of wise one!" and then he goes onto briefly and humorously explain. For the few games I do know it makes them funny, and for the majority I don't, I get to learn something and even try out a few new games that sound interesting. Thanks Josh Scorcher!
Honorable Mentions: *Destiny -It took a couple expansions to make the game feel more full of content. *Street Fighter 5 -This was already covered in Top 10 Capcom Fails, so I'll give you the abridged verison. Too little single player content, the roster was way too small, there wasn't even an arcade mode or a story mode until the updates came rolling in.
Taking a random guess but FF14 is probably gonna be high up there because hoooo boy 1.0 was a nightmare and was so bad it had to actually be burned to the ground both irl and in lore to make way for the much better 2.0 and onwards. Edit: SOMEONE PICK UP THAT PHONE CAUSE I CALLED IT
Btw, just recently for Cyberpunk 2077, the sales for the game sky rocketed thanks to the Edgerunners anime and a new patch was added on the same day when the anime was released.
While it actually had nothing to do with the fixing of the game itself, the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners helped fix a lot of people's hype for the game, increasing sales tremendously as people went back into the world to experience it and have their vengeance.
vengeance is way too accurate, I watched it with my roommates and right after we finished one of them immediately went and booted up the game because he wanted to KILL adam smasher
No lie, Silent Hill Downpour is the only game in the franchise that really got under my skin. I'd only played 2 and 3 at the time, and I loved them both and got into their stories and chills, but then Downpour kinda broke me with its story. The sadder it got, the scarier it became for me, it was weird. Definitely my favorite in the franchise.
Here's an idea for a list, unless it's already been done, top 10 Mystery Games. The criteria being: "How well does the gameplay mesh with the story? Do the gameplay mechanics compliment the story being told or are they aggravatingly distracting?" "How well built up is the mystery itself? Can you notice the subtler details hinting at what was really going on? Were the clues perhaps good enough for you to draw the same conclusions as the cast, or were they all too vague for you to draw the same conclusions?" "How well written are the characters, can you trust everyone or never trust anyone? Was the mastermind someone you suspected from the very beginning or a curve ball that throws everything you thought you knew out the window?" "Was the payoff any good? Did everything wrap up in a nice little bow, or did it intentionally leave things vague for the sake of sequels it may not even get?" "If there were sequels or multimedia peices surrounding it, how well do they compliment the story if at all? Do they add on to it in a way that respects the original and even sheds better light on things that might've intentionally or unintentionally been left vague? Or do they take away from the original story by retconning story elements and/or motives that may have been simple to understand at first only to now make them as confusing as the FNaF Lore/Timeline or throw in some new big bad that claims to be the true mastermind when the original clearly states that was the case, and so forth." Bonus Criteria: "How much fun was the game itself? Despite now knowing everything, can you still go back to these games and still have fun? Do they have a gameplay loop that draws you in, or a post game that offers additional modes or a chance to finish 100%ing it if you were previously locked out of doing so once the climax started?"
Something tells me Danganronpa is in mind when this is written lol. There will be obvious picks from series like Ace Attorney, Danganronpa and Zero Escape for sure if that list were to happen.
@@CountShaman Danganronpa would probably be 6th or 7th on the list though, to be honest. The first game has a LOT of flaws, one of them being certain story elements that may have worked in the Japanese version REALLY didn't translate well into the English release and sometimes it can be predictable as to what's going on meaning it can become a slog to sit through as the cast end up playing catch up to the player. Another thing I feel brings it to those slots is three things: One, The End of Hope's Peak Academy's absolute lackluster way of ending the Hope's Peak Saga on top of comiting character assassination to anyone and everyone it could just for the sake of a "Story". Two, Killing Harmony attempting to Quasi-Reboot the franchise by having it set in an alternate universe... With an ending absolutely no one liked. And three, while all the multimedia surrounding it expanded the lore, story, and characters of past games... 90% of it is Japan Exclusive with the ONLY way to get them in the states is by looking them up online through fan translations... Chunsoft. What. The. Hell.
Happy to see Final Fantasy XIV on the list and number one at that. Yoshi P and SquareEnix took a huge gamble that paid off and writing the switch into the lore was a master stroke. And while many MMOs claimed to be a WoW killed (*cough* Rift *cough*) it turned out that Blizzard was their own worse enemy and FFXIV just gave people an alternative to WoW.
Ys 8, i cannot stress how good the game is, and I play the Switch port, and they even make all the NPCs likable and useful. The game not only remains one of the best games of all time, but also has one of the best heroines in gaming. I highly recommend people look at it, it is a very gorgeous game as well.
Oh, and Josh: I'm not sure if you're aware, but Cyberpunk had a bit of a player increase recently with the update that coincided with the release of the Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime. Yes, that anime is real, and was done by TRIGGER. The anime studio behind Kill La Kill and Promare.

One more thing about Fallout 76 that I’m surprised you didn’t mention. They went back on their promise to not have any gameplay-effecting microtransactions. The worst of it came in Fallout First, which had features that should’ve been in the game at launch, locked behind a subscription paywall.
Biggest fixed game that came to mind for me was Street Fighter V. At launch it barely had any content, 16 characters, no arcade mode, poor netcode, sub par story mode, etc. Now we have Champion Edition and it’s a much better game overall.

One way how cyberpunk came back was through its tv series: cyberpunk edge runners. It was such a good show that many people bought/returned to the game because they missed the world of cyberpunk
Unbelieveable. I shift off the video for a split second and return to Henry, Percy, and James and I'm like, oh shoot wrong tab! Must be a Thomas video I was watching. Actually no you just oddly showed Henry. That's just comedic. I LOVE that show. XD
Okay this is going to bug me: During the Y's segment, who is that doing the "it's no good" whenever the Mouse Hunt movie scene plays? The voice sounds familiar but can't picture who it is.
23:24 with regards to cyberpunk, I am still willing to give CDPR the benefit of the doubt about how it came out. It was basically a case of “we want to delay it a little longer so that it comes out good” vs “fans are upset that the game is not out yet, we need to put it out.”
When No Man's Sky was announced, sure I was really interested, but at the same time I had a feeling that it wouldn't be good at first. I guess it's been a pattern with games that would promise the moon but under-deliver. So I felt I would sit that one out, but keep an eye on it. Sure enough I was right, but I didn't hate the game or the people, I kept waiting it out, to see what would happen, and my patience was rewarded. Update after update came out, it wasn't until the Visions update that I finally thought "okay, this game is amazing now, and it's on sale!" Now NMS is, without a doubt, one of my top favorite games. I don't play it much now but I'm always happy knowing I have the game and I can play it anytime. But also because part of me always wants to reset my progress whenever a big update comes out, so I guess I'm kinda waiting until the game is """done""" before I can commit to a complete playthrough.
I have a suggestion, Top Ten Earth Bosses, Titan from Final Fantasy, Sandman from Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions, Earthrock Trilobyte, and so on. Pretty please?
There is a super simple reason why EA hate single player games and focus on multiplayer stuff. Single player stories don't generate a constant stream of money

Of all the games on this list: NMS and FFXIV are easily the biggest redemption stories. I play FFXIV on a regular basis and it's easily one of the best MMOs out there, and Naoki Yoshida is one of the main conductors to its success. NMS I kept an ear and eye towards and have heard nothing but praises in recent months. Not all games get the redemption arcs they needed. Some games that had promise sadly failed and died as a result. Others did get redeemed, but the damage was done and the devs or publisher can be blamed for it.

To provide games people will like to get money.(Silent Hill Downpour) 8: Of ALL people, why did it have to be EA who bought Pop Cap? Pop Cap has made some of my favorite games, and EA has massacred their main success and left the others to rot. I mean, PvZ Garden Warfare 1 & 2 were great, but PvZ2 is practically pay to win most of the time, and PvZ Battle for Neighborville ruined the version of PvZ EA actually did well with. Sorry that this has nothing to do with Star Wars, I just needed to rant. (Star Wars Battlefront II (2017)) 7: So, is this a bad time to try to get into the fandom? Because I want to try the old games, but I'm not sure where to start. (Assassin's Creed Unity) 6: ...That is a very unfortunate translation error. (Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana) 5: Fallout 76 had a COVID phase. Limited human interaction. (Fallout 76) 4: Ah, the beginning of the end. (Diablo III) 3: So wait, did they fix it on XBOX 1? If so, then I know my dad is gonna be happy about that. (Cyberpunk 2077) 2: I am extremely surprised that this game is not Number 1, which intrigues me as to what is. Still, makes sense. (Final Fantasy XIV)
I genuinely liked and enjoyed Cyberpunk2077 at launch on Xbox One and only experienced two glitches then, an npc t-posing and textures not loading due to driving too fast. But the thing that kept me from playing further and even beating the gam then was the memory leak issue that didn't get fixed till the second big patch, and once it was i kept coming back to the game and playing it for awhile and then stopping for a bit, only to have sunk nearly 50hrs into the game on my most recent playthrough without having gotten mid way through the story. And, one thing alot of people forget is that the Witcher 3 launched just as, if not more buggy then Cyberpunk2077 and it took CDPR 6 years to make it into their quote unquote magnum opus, and if given the same amount of time and love i do believe Cyberpunk2077 could surpass the Witcher 3.
For cyberpunk 2077, you forgot to mention the fact that the anime cyberpunk edgerunners made the game popular again plus even had content from the anime
Sea of Thieves may have indirectly led to the rise of sea shanties becoming popular again before January 2021. I remember the Longest Johns streaming the game and singing sea shanties. Oh LORDY, I remember the opening of Battlefront 2 and the damned loot boxes! And of course, Fallout 76.

Which, if you think about it, is ironic, seeing that the FIRST Final Fantasy game was what saved Squaresoft from bankruptcy in the late '80's.
Compared to nowadays the video game industry was far smaller and more niche market in the 80s
Games I expect to see on this list, No Man's Sky for how the developer finally giving people what they wanted and also because of the upcoming Nintendo Switch port, Cyberpunk 2077 because they finally fixed the game as well as gained new and returning players thanks to the Edgerunners anime by Studio Trigger, and Final Fantasy 14 for how broken the original game was that they decided to reboot the game world after BLOWING IT UP IN A MASSIVE SPECTACLE, and transformed it into A Realm Reborn
Edit: Welp, I was right on those 3 being on the list, surprised that he didn't mention Edgerunners and the game update based around said anime
Ok that gives me incentive to buy it.
Looks like he kept it restricted to the game itself, not side stuff. Otherwise the Fallout 76 one would have been a LOT longer.
@@serafine666 and it's coming very soon to the Switch and just from the gameplay alone, while it's not a 60 FPS, it runs as smooth like butter
You can tell this list was made or at least written before September because Cyberpunk's revival was arguably helped by another big thing of note:
*Edgerunners*
Studio Triggers hit prequel series has made waves online thanks to its depiction of the world of 2077 and the atmosphere of the game being represented so well (along with amazing characters), that it drew people back in who wanted to give the game another shot and experiance the world of Cyberpunk 2077, leading to the game having at one point OVER A MILLION DAILY PLAYERS!
what I really liked about edgerunners was finding out what goes on in CyberPyscho's heads
What does EA have against playing by yourself? Simple, single player can't be micro transactioned to death.
Capcom and putting microtransactions into RE remakes says hi
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” is what someone would say here, but not in this case.
to be fair, these games didn't meet that first half of the sentence
This feels like a video in response to the Cyberpunk anime making Cyberpunk come back.
@Grima the Fell Dragon
With Zero Wing, fixing the English would probably not go over well.
Fixed matches are real, I paid for a match and I got what I paid for, it came out positive
It is, I Know of a source but it's really expensive
Hey man I need to make money, how much is the rate for match fixing from your source
I get my fixed from (MARKSON FIXED MATCHES )

One game that could be on the list is Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia. It went from a glitch-filled mess on release to a functional and slightly glitchy game after patches.
Oof, you're making me feel old with that one. Remember playing the demo for it as a kid! Fun times.
Bro I’ve NEVER seen anyone mention that game, I played the ps3 version. It was my first ps3 game along with NFS: Carbon
The Edgerunners anime I highly recommend to everyone personally. It's one of the best things that came out of Netflix.
@@cdsatcher. No, it ain't that level of comeback; Even then, CDPR still has issues.
Ys deserves more recognition. VIII is one of the best action RPGs I have ever played, and its 9th installment was more of the same greatness.
Absolutely seconded, love Falcom so much
I’ll third that. Ys is a brilliant series and the Trails series is my first big RPG love.
Same here!
I wanted to hear Josh talk about No Man's Sky's redemption for a LONG time, and I'm glad I was here to hear it!
For the Star Wars Battlefront: you were the CHOSEN ONE! You were menat to destroy the loot boxes, nit join them!
@@vidmanandrew09. Way to lie, clown.

20:35 , "Woo! Looking cool, Joker!"
Oh... looks like we need a screaming Vegeta to break through the video unavailable screen again.
Lacrimosa of Dana got me into the series after a friend recommended it. I had no idea that it released in such a state.
To be honest thank god this game is fixed cause imo is the best Ys in the whole series.
Looking forward to seeing No Man's Sky on the list, I think that game had one of the biggest comebacks of any game to exist
The Ys entry was hilarious, especially the Jelly Donuts reference. I think it would've been golden if they actually did that.
Predictions:
- No Man's Sky
- Final Fantasy 14
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Mass Effect 3
Don’t forget Star Wars Battlefront 2
Well only the ending of mass effect 3 needed to be fixed not the entire game in general. So that might just get an honorable mention for that.
You got 3 out of 4 right! 👍
Not gonna lie "Archeozoic Big Hole" gave me a really good laugh.
I'm just gonna leave this timestamp (14:48) for one of the best comedic editing bits I've ever seen.
It is a shame that 15 never got all of its dlc content when the project was cancelled it probably would have been an honorable mention on this list if it did. Let’s hope 16 doesn’t go through the same fate.
"So this is how the world ends. Not with a bang, but a whimper." THAT is a really big understatement. Also, not a whimper, but more a, BOOP BOOP.
We gotta give honorable mention to kingdom hearts final mix 1.5 HD ultimate grand collector edition with funky mode and a coke on the side
Yeah the PS3 version had issues at least the later version on PS4 and such fixed most of those problems
*Fixed game’s appears
No man’s sky:”Somebody call my name”
Cyberpunk 2077: I'm coming too.
FF14: Hey! You two get in line! I was here first!
"Here lies No Man's Sky, gaming's biggest disappointment"
*Hand bursts out of the ground*
Nods to both Buzz Lightyear of Star Command AND Victor Tanzig’s “Stories of Sodor?”
Josh just keeps showing how cultured of a man he is!
Oh my God, Josh, I frickin' LOVE YOU for using this scene at 17:27...😂🤣
Honorable Mentions:
*Destiny
-It took a couple expansions to make the game feel more full of content.
*Street Fighter 5
-This was already covered in Top 10 Capcom Fails, so I'll give you the abridged verison.
Edgerunners
@@manuelalbertoromero9528 Sorry. Got the two mixed up, I fixed it.
I’m surprised Kirby Star Allies didn’t make the list given how much of a Kirby fan he is
Enel (the Xenoblade speed runner) did a whole video on NIS America translations. Granted, it was for the Trails series, but it still applies
Christ. Josh's FFXIV video is 7 years old. I remember watching that in my High school's cafeteria
With Battlefront 2, I thought he’d bring out how even CONGRESS started paying attention.
How about a Top Ten Most Annoying Bosses (or Josh Lest Favorite Bosses)? Like Demyx, Flame Hyenard, and so on. Pretty Please?
I know I have bosses like them in mind when it comes to Annoying ones.
Jelly Donuts in Y's would be MORE hilarious than most of the translations you showed including Archeozoic Big Hole XD
Here's an idea for a list, unless it's already been done, top 10 Mystery Games. The criteria being:
"How well does the gameplay mesh with the story? Do the gameplay mechanics compliment the story being told or are they aggravatingly distracting?"
"How well built up is the mystery itself? Can you notice the subtler details hinting at what was really going on? Were the clues perhaps good enough for you to draw the same conclusions as the cast, or were they all too vague for you to draw the same conclusions?"
"How well written are the characters, can you trust everyone or never trust anyone? Was the mastermind someone you suspected from the very beginning or a curve ball that throws everything you thought you knew out the window?"
"Was the payoff any good? Did everything wrap up in a nice little bow, or did it intentionally leave things vague for the sake of sequels it may not even get?"
"If there were sequels or multimedia peices surrounding it, how well do they compliment the story if at all? Do they add on to it in a way that respects the original and even sheds better light on things that might've intentionally or unintentionally been left vague? Or do they take away from the original story by retconning story elements and/or motives that may have been simple to understand at first only to now make them as confusing as the FNaF Lore/Timeline or throw in some new big bad that claims to be the true mastermind when the original clearly states that was the case, and so forth."
Bonus Criteria: "How much fun was the game itself? Despite now knowing everything, can you still go back to these games and still have fun? Do they have a gameplay loop that draws you in, or a post game that offers additional modes or a chance to finish 100%ing it if you were previously locked out of doing so once the climax started?"
I would love that, I've been craving a good mistery game for a while and I would love some recommendations
Another thing I feel brings it to those slots is three things:
One, The End of Hope's Peak Academy's absolute lackluster way of ending the Hope's Peak Saga on top of comiting character assassination to anyone and everyone it could just for the sake of a "Story".
I too cracked up at the "Big Hole" one. It should be used as an inside joke in future episodes, wouldn't you say?
On the Ys game, I believe Matt McMuscles did a what happened on it that goes into more detail. Worth a watch/listen. It was a rollercoaster.
Ys 8, i cannot stress how good the game is, and I play the Switch port, and they even make all the NPCs likable and useful.
The game not only remains one of the best games of all time, but also has one of the best heroines in gaming.
I highly recommend people look at it, it is a very gorgeous game as well.
Surprisingly, I only heard about No Man Sky after the backlash of the release. I guess I was living under a rock during all the hype it gotten.
It wasn't as hyped in rural Canada. I also only heard of it post-leak, but I have been really enjoying it on the Steam Deck this past week.
Probably started making this video before Edgerunners came out
‘Hey, hey, hey!! Who put that in there?!’
Lol, that one got me

To be fair, Call of Duty WW2 had the same problem at launch with Headquarters because a bunch of people wanted to get in Multiplayer.
7:40 HA! Freedert's "I enjoy Creampuffs" scream being used haven't heard that in a long time
also fun fact about NIS they handled the localization for one of the ONLY english adaptions to my favorite game series Sakura Wars and BOY, HOWDIE while they did a fairly decent job they messed up with translation and interpretations of some of the characters
10:36 "it dies but it lived" sounds kinda like "somehow palpatine returned"
One more thing about Fallout 76 that I’m surprised you didn’t mention. They went back on their promise to not have any gameplay-effecting microtransactions. The worst of it came in Fallout First, which had features that should’ve been in the game at launch, locked behind a subscription paywall.
I love Trublade Seeker's video summarizing the 1.0 of 14 XD
"Nope Still Broken" should become a meme
My guesses are Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn and No Man's Sky.
To those who want to hear more about the destruction of FFXIV 1.0 and the rise of A Realm Reborn, I highly suggest the No Clip documentary about it.
Biggest fixed game that came to mind for me was Street Fighter V. At launch it barely had any content, 16 characters, no arcade mode, poor netcode, sub par story mode, etc. Now we have Champion Edition and it’s a much better game overall.

Internet historian has a wonderful video on no mans sky that really puts things into perspective
What a coincidence that I was listening to this video in the background whilst playing FF14
One way how cyberpunk came back was through its tv series: cyberpunk edge runners. It was such a good show that many people bought/returned to the game because they missed the world of cyberpunk
Calling it right now, Cyberpunk 2077 is gonna make the Top 5 at least.
Well you predicted right
Unbelieveable.
It sounds like Jontron, but I'm not sure...
I have given Downpour another chance after watching a few actually fair reviews of the game; and I had a lot of fun playing it.
I feel like there’s something you’re not telling us about EDF that we should know about..
1:14 Never would have expected a chikn nuggit Clip
There is a super simple reason why EA hate single player games and focus on multiplayer stuff.
Single player stories don't generate a constant stream of money
How do you f**k up localization as bad as Ys VIII?
Like, it was so embarrassing that Falcom had to step in and tell them to get it right
Probably the same way a couple 19th century Portuguese scholars took it into their heads to try to write an English phrasebook when they didn't know the language.

Quoth the great bard of our time, Homestar Runner (but actually Strong Bad in disguise), "You win most impwoved. Ding!"
The best thing to come out of Daikatana was Superfly's Johnson by The Laziest Men on Mars.
"What does EA have against playing by yourself?"
Easy, It's much harder to monetize that than it is to monetize multiplayer.
I'm happy that some game developers actually care about their games and fix them when they are not working. Take some notes, console versions of Cyberpunk. >:(
10: Okay, if Rare is going to play around with old IPs, I don't actually have a strong connection to Banjo-Kazooie. I would want to see Kameo or Viva Pinata. (Sea of Thieves)
9: Konami is just the worst. I kinda wonder what could've happened if P.T. had actually managed to be made into Silent Hills and become more than just a playable teaser that Konami decided should be wiped off the map. I KNOW that people would have liked it, because to this day, it's considered one of the most terrifying experiences in gaming. And what is the point of a game making company again? To provide games people will like to get money.(Silent Hill Downpour)
8: Of ALL people, why did it have to be EA who bought Pop Cap? Pop Cap has made some of my favorite games, and EA has massacred their main success and left the others to rot. I mean, PvZ Garden Warfare 1 & 2 were great, but PvZ2 is practically pay to win most of the time, and PvZ Battle for Neighborville ruined the version of PvZ EA actually did well with. Sorry that this has nothing to do with Star Wars, I just needed to rant. (Star Wars Battlefront II (2017))

5: Fallout 76 had a COVID phase. Limited human interaction. (Fallout 76)
4: Ah, the beginning of the end. (Diablo III)
3: So wait, did they fix it on XBOX 1? If so, then I know my dad is gonna be happy about that. (Cyberpunk 2077)
2: I am extremely surprised that this game is not Number 1, which intrigues me as to what is. (No Man's Sky)
Honorable Mentions: Nothing really to say, just wanted to joke about how they didn't mention FNAF Security Breach.
1: As a guy who isn't a Final Fantasy fan for the most part, I am ashamed to say I didn't see this coming. Still, makes sense. (Final Fantasy XIV)
Ys is one my favorite series and the entire PC release of Ys 8 was just a nightmare.
"Archeozaic Big Hole"
ABYSS! How the heck do you miss that painfully easy alliteration option?!
A Chikn Nuggit clip? You can stop now, Josh, you’ve already given me enough reasons to love you.
20:52 Major props to whoever decided to use Nutshell by Alice in Chains there!
Let’s be real… with Fallout 76, no matter how good it may have gotten through patches and dlc, the damage was already done.
For cyberpunk 2077, you forgot to mention the fact that the anime cyberpunk edgerunners made the game popular again plus even had content from the anime
The video was probably made before Edgerunners released.
We can all tell just by the title that No Man’s Sky has already made the cut.
Guys you should see the Switch port of Black flag, a dead British Soldier’s body glitches out and turned into some stretched out horror
“Few things are perfect the first” ... given my favourite game of all time is Okami I’ll have to respectfully disagree there! But I’m glad to see who wins your list of fixer-uppers 😄😄😄
Thanks for the new list Josh and go hug your animal friends all 💙🐱💙

Well one game out of thousands does fit into the "few" category: as in exceptionally rare.
