Dwyane Wade: Disappearing Act- Getting EASY LAYUPS on Ball Screens

  • No matter what the coverage, Dwyane Wade consistently gets layups out of ball screens. It's interesting how he could be the last superstar guard in the NBA we see who doesn't primarily use the threat of hitting a 3 to predicate how he scores.

One of the greatest to ever do it. Simply underrated but never forgotten.

I think he more so under appreciated than underrated

It’s crazy he’s literally beating 4 defenders on a lot of these clips

The biggest joy to me was watching him take over every 4th quarter. Wade with the ball at the top, attacking a screen going down hill. Sets up his entire game. Euros, mid range, drives, kick outs. Miami never lost a close game due to the inability to score.

I was blessed to witness Wade live during most of his career and I’ve never seen anyone make attacking the rim look so easy. His ability to understand angles and timing was elite. Never has a 6’4 guard looked so big. Never rushed, always played within his pace, you couldn’t rattle him

He has the frame of a running back and extremely long arms.

he's driving through 3-4 defenders after the screen, they hardly stop him coz he has a lot of finishing moves! legend!

Prime Wade would split 2-4 defenders like nothing then effortlessly dunked on people

You're right. We don't see players with the fundamentals of a Dwyane Wade anymore. His craftiness and slashing ability is matched by only a few people in nba history. It's a tragedy what happened with his health throughout his career but his perseverance was also amazing.

I'm not a dwyane wade fan but his athleticism was very underrated. His quickness and change of direction ability was next level. Not to mention every thing else he had. And he was only 6'4 dunking on bigs on a regular basis.

My favorite player of any sport... just marveled at how he usually saved his best moments for elite competition.
A 1 of 1 talent... from the playoffs of his rookie season to arguably 2012, when at 90 to 100% health, he was the best player in basketball, period. You replace any player you like with him and that team is better. Put him on that 2007 Cavs roster and they don't get swept. Put him on that 2008 Lakers team that lost to Boston and they win.
There's MJ... Wade, Magic, Bird... Hakeem... Shaq, Duncan, Barkley, Kobe, Kareem, Thomas... LeBron, West, Wilt, Russell, Malone, Oscar, Curry, Ervin, Durant, Lenard... field

At first it was Allen Iverson if you wanted to learn playing as a shorter person but Wade took breaking down the defense to a whole new level. Effortless

Ja Morant to me is the second coming mixed in with a perimeter threat once he does get that 3 ball dropping more consistently, not that it's not already improving.

well he does have 1 an 10 to 20 year quads we have only just now gotten a player in jaden ivey in the league who seems to have quads that allow for that level of balance and explosion from such low positions

Honestly i never seen a better slasher/driver than wade. I mean lebron will bully ball your ass. But Wade had too many moves to the basket. Shoot there’s seasons he had more dunks than lbj which is crazy

    • @VonJay

I remember his first year in the league. It was crazy how it seemed like he was attracted to the rim. Like nothing could stop him. He wanted to destroy who ever was under there.
