I honestly love these headsets, so comfortable, light and breathable. The soundstage is great and makes sound-whoring in-game easier than my other headphones (Senheiser 350BT).

Sennheiser gang~ Great for big ol' melon heads like mine too. Game One's going strong for several years, and my Senn HD555 have been going strong for over 15 years now. Loved the mic test. I've noticed some weird variance depending on the recording setup too, so that was super helpful. Congrats on the GMMK Pro Preview! Can't wait for that :)

I've been using headphones for half a year maybe? Before that, I was using HyperX Cloud 2s and Bose QC35ii only

wow the mic sounds awesome!
I use these with the sennheiser gsx 1000 dac/amp and its such a clean combo for gaming. The gsx 1000 has a 7.1 surround option that makes noises in game pinpoint accurate with the soundstage of this headset.

Love my Seinhesser headset.
I have had these since release and it still sounds so good. I do have it hooked up to my SoundBlaster X AE-5.
I still use them to this day :) prefer them over the new pc38x

@@SwitchandClickOfficial I know I’m late to the party so I’m not sure if I’ll get a response, but is there a certain reason why you like these over the pc38x? I’ve been using the pc37x for about 5 years now and thing holding me back from buying the new ones was the yellow accents, but now there’s an all black version so I might pull the trigger on them.

I just got the pc38x headset, and they are great on console. But they reduced the impedance to 28ohms for the 38x. Which I suspect they did to run easier plugged into a console controller. Im thinking about getting the astro tr pro dac/amp, so now im wondering how these two compare ran through an amp. Even though the 37x has a narrower frequency response, maybe it sounds better through a dac/amp than the newer 38x being 50ohm vs 28ohm? 🤔
Nice review, but you should really review the SHP 9600 because you've reviewed the 9500's and the 9600 are the improved version. It fixes some of the problems like it has more clamp force and a little more bass.

The plastic quality is very good....been using it everyday since the last 2 years ...its the most comfortable and a great headset....havent used the other ones in a long time :)

Good video. I have an old game one and i love it but the volumn wheel start to be a problem. Drop also offer pc38x which should sound better according to many reviewer. However drop shipping to asia costs too much for me. Thank to your review, now i'm ordering shp9500 to match with a boom mic :)
The shipping cost of pc38x is so cheap now. I live in Japan and the shipping fee was only $4.

Is an amp absolutely essential? If not, what are the most noticeable benefits to sound quality/sound signature? If so, is $40 too cheap?
Edit: ideally plan to plug it into a PS4 controller. Amp would mean stretching a cord all the way across my living room…

Have you tried plugging in the headset to the back of your computer instead of the front? I've heard that makes it sound much better.
I'm doing that as of now with this headset, and the sound is pretty good. However, the mic is still really subdued, and I have to hold it like a centimeter away from my mouth in order for it to p[pick up my voice in a decent manner. But then again, I am using an old prebuilt from like 6 years ago, so maybe that has something to do with it?

I always wanted to have this headset, and finally got them.
Unfortunately, the sound is kind of "muffled" and not so clear and low.
For instance, I play Apex legends and the wingman sounds as if it had a silencer on. Footsteps are hard to hear, even my own. I played around with DTS and realtek sound system and still can't make it to sound as I want.
I've been using a cheap headset "Sades SA902" and the sound is crystal clear, mic is decent and I paid $27usd back to Dec, 2016.
Also, apparently you need a DAC Amp to get the best of it?
I'll be using them for the following days and see how it goes. Otherwise I'll be returning them, which is a shame.
Does anyone have any tips or software to make them better?
I also play apex and footsteps in fps games are very important. ik you commented this a year ago but have you gotten a better headset that you would recommend?
