I enjoyed watching your son's excitement...I had fun too....but as an overprotective grandma...he should be wearing safety eye glasses too..... You too father❤. keep up the amazing work
Travis is absolutely adorable I love watching you go rock hunting with your boys I'm a mother of five boys and we go rockhounding all the time. I just love it.
17:00 when he opens his favorite and I'm like -_- lmaooo. so unsatisfying! all jokes aside, amazing finds. you've inspired me to hunt for my own cause they're big here! I'm so excited. also, I watched this in the background of me working and it's actually suchhhh a calming video. gonna check out your channel to see if you have any hunting videos. keep up the good work! :)
Really beautiful pieces here. Each one tells its own story. So many cool colors, beautiful crystals. Thanks for sharing. I would have to say the best part is seeing your son's excitement after seeing the insides of some. Worth it right there, I love seeing that expression on my daughter and son faces.
Very cool. Just found your channel have been a rockhound since a kid in Australia and only just getting back into it. We take our kid out too and these are great adventures for sure. It's that great lure and anticipated excitement when you're waiting to see what the cut reveals. Will sub.
I really loved your video!!! Really amazed at what you found on top like the stuff they didn’t want?? but what really cinched it was your rock-hounding buddies in their little hoodies!!!! They were too cute 👍🏼✌🏼
Hi - I'm a rockhound from the Philadelphia area and will be heading to Bay of Fundy for vacation this summer. I've loved watching your videos - found them very educational. Can you provide some intel on the specific coves and other areas you'd recommend searching. Thank you!
That's awesome! You are going to want to go to the cape split area. Its disneyland for rockhounders. Beaches in this area are called Ross Creek Beach, Scots Bay Beach, Blomidon beach
Beautiful finds! I loved watching the boys collect them and this is definitely the icing on the cake (Travis' expression & reaction was great to see)! I would definitely be interested in some merch when you get around to releasing some! Thank you for the great video!
I just recently started rock finding due to a rock found. One Thing let to another and now I'm here! :) I am trying to identify my findings from the mountain's creeks.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍The agates are beautiful, the sections are poorly visible, they have dried out. I would like to see what they are in a polished form.Send the link.
Who would have thought you could find geodes / thunder eggs in Nova Scotia. Did you need lamd owner permission to hike to the beach where you found them? All interesting specimens ...but the " big" one was really spectacular....all those formations inside. Wow
We hiked through crown land until we hit the stream then hike downstream to the beach. We didn't cross private land, although the land owners in the area have given permission before, but on this day the were not there. It is summer cottage land.
@@RockhoundingLife thanks for the details guys. I will add it to my " New Spots to Explore List" Have you tried Margaretsville beach? Been there several times last fall... miles of beach still to explore.
@@sydneyread4449 my dad is from Margaretsville. I started my rockhounding journey there as a kid there spending many summers on that beach. You can find some nice zeolites there.
I'd like to find some geodes found a bunch of nodules but nothing pretty pretty yet... one cool hard rock pocket with galena in it... lots of neat rock out there...😃
@@RockhoundingLife Up in the Truro area... there are neat formations popping out everywhere... just have to watch out for ticks... bad bad this year...
Just a heads up you should be more careful with that blade. The continues diamond blades won’t cut skin but the segmented ones will if not careful. Cool video!
I polished the purple amethyst nodule and it took a great polish over the amethyst surface. It was a little less consistent over the white material which i think is zeolite so it made sense. The zeolites take an pretty good polish but not as good as chalcedony.
Definitely need a more safe way to push those through the saw, seen too many people lose fingers and thumbs and they always thought they were safe from that
With the blade I was using in this video, yes it is a bit more dangerous but generally with a normal smooth diamond blade there is very little danger. I've been doing it so long I know how to cut using the tile saw. I teach my boys the proper technique. Thanks for watching!
How do you determine how you want to cut them without the use or sonar or even sound wave technology so that you can get the best representation of the stone?
Nice to see father son enjoying the same hobby. May I suggest you and your son, at least your son wear safety glasses when cutting stone. Better safe than sorry.
* Why aren't you & Travis wearing Face masks??? Rock dust will wreck your lungs.. * the slab at 16:04 looks like a Galaxy Stone.. Cool.. I gave my preference & you have yours.. LOL
You're right, it was an oversight and we usually so where masks during lapidary work. A wet tile saw is probably the most forgiving with 99% of the dust suppressed by the water.
I’ve always been impressed with the patience and kindness you show you sons in handling all aspects of 'rockhounding'! Your supervision of their work and your teaching is to your credit! Love their enthusiasm!

If he keeps on cutting rocks with no eye protection he won't last long at this hobby!
Woooow, they really are amazing! 😍🤩😍❤

There are heliotropes on these shores.

Thanks, I appreciate the heads up.
I wonder why you don't wear safety glasses when you run the saw?
I think a lot of the "not super impressive" ones would look really cool if the gem part was polished!
Jason, very nice. Have you polished any of those in the past and, if so, do they take a consistent, even polish across the surface?
I polished the purple amethyst nodule and it took a great polish over the amethyst surface. It was a little less consistent over the white material which i think is zeolite so it made sense. The zeolites take an pretty good polish but not as good as chalcedony.

I like that analogy! Very true 👍
my top PICK would have to be the one at 21;21 min. ,, they are all cool, but dont stand out to me like that one,, thank you for sharing

Hey RHL, I'm new to this channel and hobby, any tips for manual cutting of geodes, i.e. rock hammers and/or chisels?
Hi there, and welcome to the channel!!y personal preference for cutting geodes is by using a slab saw or tile saw.
Very cool. They might look better if you wet them before you show them.
He said “These ones” Leave that Philly twang out of your video. Ha. Just kidding. I get hammered for sayin “Yous”. Haha
So many to cut, it must have been a blast!! The geodes were so cool! I couldn’t begin to figure out which one was my fav!
It was so much fun!
How do you determine how you want to cut them without the use or sonar or even sound wave technology so that you can get the best representation of the stone?
Most of the bog ones were oval.dhaped so we just cut them along the elongated direction.
Maravilhosos os Goedos
🙏
16:30 Trex!!!
I think it's weird how the uglier the geode on the outside, the prettier it is on the inside! Just like Ragnar!
Haha! Yes that us true!
These worth any money? Do you sell to gift shops?..
They probably are but we haven't sold any yet.
We watch all the cutting so at least turn the rock so the inside shows. We don't care if it's good or bad we just enjoy the process.
music that starts at 1:43 and changes up at 2:30 ? HAVE TO KNOW WHAT IT IS!
Any way to vice hold your rock on the saw, blades can have a big fail
Not this particular saw no. I could try to rig something up but I'm looking at acquiring a slab saw in the near future which would have a vice.
No need eye protection when cutting rocks? Just curious 🤣😂
You know normally we do but this was an oversight on my part! Always where safety glasses and respirator and ear protection when cutting rocks!
12:24 A very muscular leg😂

I'm not a huge fan of mineral oil. I prefer polishing with grit.
