For example when i first saw them before i played the game i assumed that institute weapons worked like tasers, which allow you to stun an enemy then switch weapons and finish them.
Pro tip: You can command dogmeat to get the cryolator for you. Just ask him if theres any items nearby when you are next to the weapon and he will fetch it for you. Im loving mine :)

I spent AT LEAST 12 game time hours in New Vegas farming the boomers in Nellis with the Fat Man and MIni Nukes (because they respawn with them every three days), and I still didn't have enough to satisfy my needs for blowing things up. In Fallout 4, the supermutant suiciders carry them now like you said, so I just constantly farm them for mini nukes. Best thing ever is shooting MIRV nukes with the Big Boy. No range, but fun to kill deathclaws with in the glowing sea.
Cryogenic ammo you can get ,if you get that stations, where you can hack a robot to come a life.....police , medic, or fire ,choose fire always kill it ,you get cryogenic ammo from it.
Maybe it's just because we were spoiled in New Vegas, but I wish there was a bit more variety with the weapons we have to choose from in Fallout 4. I know it's probably harder to do now that they have to make attachments with them now, but I'm kind of sad the combat rifle and assault rifle are the only assault rifle-type weapon choices, for example, and I really don't like the aesthetics of the fo4 assault rifle. I wish we could've gotten maybe the Service rifle and/or the Chinese rifle to add a bit more variety. The same thing goes for other classes of weapons. But hey, maybe we'll see them in a dlc.
Apparently someone found the chinese assault rifle model in the fallout 4 files, so I got a feeling we are probably going to be getting it in the future.

To be honest I am surprised there are not many real world guns other than the Chinese assault rifle (ak-47 I don't know why they just don't call it ak-47), Gatlin gun, 44. magnum, and double barreled shotgun. I would at least expect a M -16, Colt 1911, Bretta M9, Remington 870, 357. magnum, or M1 Grand.

In which World a Gauss-Rifle is a "Energy-Weapon"? The Projectile it fires is clearly a ballistic projectile, and every wapon use any kind of "Energy" to fire its projectiles, so that cant be the point...
@Ferocious Battle That IS a conventional projectile tho, the material may be different, but there are different materials for the projectiles of normal guns out there too, it is a piece of metal, accelerated to hit a target, the only difference is how the acceleration is archieved. End result stays the same, a piece of metal hitting a target, clearly a kinetic weapon in real life terms ^^
I've got a Two-Shot Gauss rifle with all the trimmings. Best sniper rifle in the game by far. With a proper VATS sniper build, this one-shots almost anything including Ancient Behemoths and Mythic Deathclaws.

My favorite gun build is a long bracketed focused six-crank lazer musket with a long recon scope, or as I call it, the "Kentucky Long Rifle". A great alternate version, a short barrel scattered, is known as the "Blunderbuss".

I don't understand why they made the institute weapons sooo downgraded compared to the pre war lasers pistols.. The institute technology is supposed to be more advanced than pre war technology in every fields and ways, yet they can't even create a better laser gun than that of pre war guns still used by the BoS and the Enclave? Weird.
I assume the institute is lacking some resource that was available to the prewar weapon manufacturers. Either that or the institute mass produces them which lets them make more cheaper but reduces their strength.

The amount of mods you can apply to most guns gives you tons of leeway to create a bunch of variations for the base gun types, but yeah, I miss the Chinese assault rifle, and the robust ammo types from New Vegas. Modders will fix this, or Bethesda will with DLC. Also no throwing weapons, which disappoints me, I really wanted to make a spear/axe tossing lunatic.

They don't have to go Gun Runners crazy just include some more known weapons like the R91 Assault Rifle, Chinese Assault Rifle etc. And with all the Synths running around I'm surprised "That Gun" hasn't made an appearance.
+jamie stuart I'm with you on this. New Vegas had an amazing selection of weapons, but a terrible "modding" system. I was disappointed by how few explosive weapons there were.
The Cryolator can be retrieved by using your dog. Go back into the vault with your dog and order him to stand next to the cryolator cabinet, then talk to the dog and ask him to retrieve, he will go up to it and pick it up without having to open up the locked cabinet. This retrieve function can get you some nice hidden items throughout the game as well. Not a bad idea to use ince in a while just in case there is something useful you missed.
I picked up a legendary weapon called "Spray'n'Pray" pretty early in the game. It's a silenced sub machine gun with explosive rounds that do 15 points area effect damage.. Overpowered as fuck. I actually stopped using it after a while because it was too easy to kill my opponents lol

if you have the money early on in the game get the spray n pray submachine gun it does 15 points of explosive dame that will stagger enemies and is modded to the maximum level when you purchase it note it is close to 3000 caps tho
Baseball Bat, Board, Sledge Hammer, Tire Iron, Combat Knife, Machete, Chinese Officer's Sword, Walking Cane, Pipe Wrench and your fists. I think that's all of them. Also, did they mention that ALL weapons have a melee attack? :p On a side note, I was highly disappointed that the Shovel didn't count as a melee weapon. HIGHLY disappointed. Also, I modded up a Baseball Bat; made it black, and I renamed it, "The Big Black Bat"
I love that the pipe weapons use oil filters for silencers - It's actually a realistic make-shift way to silence a firearm. You can buy kits that will allow you to thread a firearm to easily mount an oil filter.
There are 26 base weapons in game not counting melee and granades, which is super low as for a Fallout game, the mods are nice but 26 BASE ?? this is sh11t lazy bethesda

I was frustrated with lack of ammo on survival difficulty and always buying fusion cells for my auto laser. I made a new character using power armor and then eventually getting the gattling laser. That build is very fun and I never ran out of ammo once since I can buy fusion cores and find quite a few of them. The gun is surprisingly good on ammo and very powerful. Melee is also a good way to eliminate the ammo problem.
Rory Skywalker hunting rifle and that other thing that looks exactly like the first best shotgun in the game (because Bethesda is lazy) are the best guns.
@Candido Villanueva you can use this to jump further too. Hold vats and spam jump and cancel then once your in the air sprint and you'll go pretty far. Can be used to find secret areas without jetpack.
I think an instigating Gauss Rifle is the holy grail of first-shot weapons, most Enemies die to a normal one in one sneak attack shot, and most anything else takes 2, or 3 if they're a legendary and they heal off your first shot.
Stupid Theory: Bethesda got rid of the condition and repair system from Fallout: New Vegas, Because they wanted to distance themselves form Obsidian. (The Outer Worlds has the Condition and Repair system.)
My favorite gun is the two shot combat rife/overseer's guardian. It's amazing with both the .308 and the powerful automatic receivers depending on whether you prefer an automatic or sniper rifle. :)
Personally I love my revolver rifle. it was originally a legendary pistol with an added bleeding effect, now I've named it dragonslayer as whatever it hits doesn't get back up

I got a unique Sub Machine gun at the start of the game called "Spray and Pray" and it basically did me for the rest of the game. It drained life like no bodies business. Killing even the heaviest enemies in practically no time.It had a special feature of causing explosions around where it hits. Causing potential splash damage in addition to the 60pts of damage per shot it was already doing. Combined with the high rate of fire, it was pretty devastating.
Pistols are the best bcuz there lightweight and you can have a different pistol for every ammo. Can have them all hot keyed and in inventory without weighing you down. Deliverer for 10mm, Kellogg’s Pistol for 44, a makeshift 38 pipe pistol, makeshift institute pistol for cells, plasma pistol, Alien Blaster and a makeshift 45 pipe pistol.
when the 2 shot fires, they dont always go side by side. the might be on top of each other and one pops early. which nukes my face usually. but i almost never use fatman/bigboy anyway.
Well it's the 2 shot mechanics that do it. And I also have a few mods that might also play a part in it as well. Like the bigger explosions mod that doubles damage and explosive diameter for mini nukes, granades, and mines. I'm sure it would be fine on my vanilla character. But the 2 shot mod doesn't shoot them side by side. Sometimes they come out at 3&9, 6&12, 8&2, ect.
I have found the Railway Rifle (When I didn't know how to find the Railroad to do the quest.. yeah.. lol) while I kept walking along the broken tracks thrailing through the commonwealth. It was stashed inside a traincart. Probably a random find, but good luck huntin', it's very powerfull !

even late in the game I am using a sub machine gun you can buy from the merchant Cricket called the spray 'n pray cause it makes every bullet explode on impact it's like having a mini rapid fire missile launcher
my favorite gunbuild is specified to a specific gun: the overseers guardian, it is a legendary gun that you can buy of the vendor in vault 81(the vault is located west of diamont city). its legendary perk is that it shoots 2 bullets for the price of one. w the rifleman perk it can cause around 160 damadge. because of its perk you can double this. im level 67 and normal difficult and im still using this amazing gun.
Correction on the .50 cal selection. The Pipe .308 can be modified to .50 cal and more over, it can be modded to either rifle or hand gun and Bolt action Pipe is the only gun that fire a .50 cal round, making it one of the most powerful pistols even early in the game. Gun Nut 2 is all you need to mod out a .50 cal, suppressed pipe pistol with a hip fire grip and barrel.
I use it with vendors. If they owe me 200 caps more than they have, I just ask for 100 5mm bullets. Just like to use them for bartering. Also, on Raider and Super Mutant leaders who have minigun a (obviously)

Maybe because it's a suppressed 10mm pistol, and, for me, was one of the first suppressed weapons I came across in the game, and, as a stealth type, is great for taking out enemies at close-medium range without bringing the whole place down on my arse. Not to mention, at the time I got it, was doing about 50% more damage than the 10mm pistol I had with me.
Overseers Guardian, it's a .45 bullet shooter, so most common ammo type at stores making feeding it easier than feeding any other gun. Mod it for single fire, it will do up to 97 base damage (no perks), fires 2 shots per bullet spent. Toss in some psyco jet and you can unload a full vats run of shots doing (with perks) roughly 300 damage each, between the bullets fired out of an enemy mini gun. They fire one bullet, you unload around 7 shots (so 14 bullets doing roughly 150 damage each, vs the enemy mini gun doing 5 damage....)
Belthador Well if you want to be realistic (pipe guns specifically): 1- most normal guns would survive. 2- they look like they would explode in your hands, break or jam. 3- only peasants and raiders use them in the game. Everyone with even the slightest significance has a better weapon. You are a hero and by the first 30 minutes of the game you come across 3 weapons that are already better than any pipe gun.
At 2:22 the bolt action pipegun is the only way gunslinger's have access to .308 and.50 caliber rounds. I recommend using a short or medium scope (or a glowing reflex sight).

The Enigma you can use the rapid fire glitch on any weapon including melee. This makes every thing god mode. I don't even give a shit about damage anymore XD.
You can get the cryolator really early in the game. 1: Tell Dogmeat to stand next to the cryolators door. 2: Tell him to find items. 3: It will drop next your feet after a couple seconds.

+PC Friendly level 41 means the plasma weapon is VERY late game and finding one before that means buying one. ammo is scare until level 50. I'm at level 76 and I still run low on plasma rounds but every else are pennies to me, even the mini nukes.

You mean laser pistols? No, they stay common until level 70, where plasma takes over, but by that time, you should have more then enough and laser weapons for that.
+DAEDRICLORD777 the paint for power armour gives out little bonuses like the BOS (brotherhood of steel) paint gives out less rad damage for guns it would be useless
The Alien blaster pistol is definitely the best laser pistol out there, there is also only 1 crashed UFO to contain the weapon. Also, there is an Astoundingly Awesome Tales magazine that increases the damage done by the pistol by 5%, making even more deadly. Mine currently does 94 Damage, 100 fire rate, with a range of 305, with an accuracy of 75, as well as using fusion cells. Oh, and even though it it's not automatic, it still fires very quickly.
I found a couple of new mods for weapons on the Nexus. First up was the M14, which is basically an M1 Garand with a box magazine. You can put a scope on it and it makes a good .308 sniper rifle with up to 30 rounds (mod for large mag included) The other was a .44 Desert Eagle automatic Pistol. Holds 10 to 15 rounds of .44, instead of the measly 6 rounds in the Snub revolver. Also modable. Just between those 2, the damage you can inflict goes way, way up - no cheat guns needed. The bonus is that those two actually exist as the mod shows them, and the models, textures and animations are great.
Sexy little tip: Get McCready as a companion and max your bond and do his quest, once that's accomplished you will get his unique perk permanently that makes all headshots in VATS 95% chance hit no matter the weapon or the distance. (his perk is bugged, says +20% chance to hit headshots in VATS, when its really like 2000%)
I love getting combat armor, fatigues, and a military colored power armor and parading around with combat rifles and a minigun like a pre war soldier. Really gets the nostalgia going.
Hey, Cure Entertainment, tell me if you agree with my list, I want to know what you think of it: What I think everyone will want in Fallout 5/ What will make Fallout 5 GOTC (Game of The Century): - An option to enable "Weapon Deterioration" - More diverse weapons in general (preferably from past Fallout games e.i): Fallout 3 & New Vegas) - An option to enable voice acting for the player's character - More diverse dialogue option, plus the option to choose between the list mode from 3 & NV, or to stick with the newest style as seen in 4 - Enhanced graphics, texture, shadows, and lighting effects - Some sore of co-op mode in the campaign that allows you to play as the companion If Fallout 5 has all that, it will be so near perfect, I will marry it :D
I actually carry a fully kitted .45cal silenced, max power, single shot receiver drum magazine version of the semi-auto pipe rifle with a short recon scope for all the lower level trash enemies I run into to and fro through the inner city. With a short recon scope, low recoil and large ammo capacity, it remains a darn good, low weight option for trash xp. The lack of recoil is really great with a small scope. You can send a second round and take down a tough foe without much refocus, which you can't do with the sniper rifle. It hits like a truck, but good luck avoiding notice. If you get in the danger zone, you can send .45 rounds downrange as fast as you can click a mouse without alerting distant enemies.
Realised this. faloout 4 doesn't have that many guns! This is something I really like. to have 20 guns or so but because of the mods you can make them radically different! LOVE IT.
the Double barrel shotgun was is favourite gun, the the way it reloads means if you can get the limitless legendary effect on it the thing basically becomes a fast semi auto. and it carried me to level fifty before i realised the rifleman perks effects shotguns as well.
A .38 pipe rifle modded w/ automatic receiver and a good stock/scope can be your bread and butter for dealing with trash mobs like mongrels, ghouls, raiders, and even supermutants. Ammo is plentiful and you'll dish out respectable damage, especially if you take a couple of ranks in the commando perk. Against anything stronger, like mirelurks, power armor, and especially deathclaws, you'll definitely want to use a stronger weapon.
Fun Fact: The Gat Laser and I think the Laser Rifle and Pistol was made by Heckler Und Koch (Heckler & Koch) Oh and my favorite gum class is energy and small arms
i once found a ddouble barrle shotgun with the legendary perk that the entire ammo is in the clip at all time.....man i had fun with this baby. no reload and damage through the roof...beautiful.
The sniper/hunting rifle isn't the only weapon that can use the .50 cal ammo. The Pipe bolt-action can use it too, and I've used it effectively in the early parts of the game with a silenced bolt-action pipe-rifle (nowadays, a legendary one that does double damage on enemies with full health. Great for silent takedowns) PS. if you remove the stock, you'll get a pretty heavy-damage silenced pistol for use indoors :D
the bolt action pipe gun makes for a good stealth pistol when given the 50 cal upgrade, supressor, and glow sights. it does the most damage for a suppressed pistol.
There is a Chinese Penetrating Grenade Launcher, btw. I imagine there are other named varieties of the grenade launcher as well. They shoot the 40mm grenades, I don’t know if they are strictly vanilla or from one of the DLC’s content.
Scrounger perk helps with the ammo problem (on the highest level you even find Fusion cores!!!), and the Railway Rifle can be found somewhere else too.

To be honest I am surprised there are not many real world guns other than the Chinese assault rifle (ak-47 I don't know why they just don't call it ak-47), Gatlin gun, 44. magnum, and double barreled shotgun. I would at least expect a M -16, Colt 1911, Bretta M9, Remington 870, 357. magnum, or M1 Grand.

I've got a Two-Shot Gauss rifle with all the trimmings. Best sniper rifle in the game by far. With a proper VATS sniper build, this one-shots almost anything including Ancient Behemoths and Mythic Deathclaws.

I don't understand why they made the institute weapons sooo downgraded compared to the pre war lasers pistols.. The institute technology is supposed to be more advanced than pre war technology in every fields and ways, yet they can't even create a better laser gun than that of pre war guns still used by the BoS and the Enclave? Weird.
I assume the institute is lacking some resource that was available to the prewar weapon manufacturers. Either that or the institute mass produces them which lets them make more cheaper but reduces their strength.

The amount of mods you can apply to most guns gives you tons of leeway to create a bunch of variations for the base gun types, but yeah, I miss the Chinese assault rifle, and the robust ammo types from New Vegas. Modders will fix this, or Bethesda will with DLC. Also no throwing weapons, which disappoints me, I really wanted to make a spear/axe tossing lunatic.

The Cryolator can be retrieved by using your dog. Go back into the vault with your dog and order him to stand next to the cryolator cabinet, then talk to the dog and ask him to retrieve, he will go up to it and pick it up without having to open up the locked cabinet. This retrieve function can get you some nice hidden items throughout the game as well. Not a bad idea to use ince in a while just in case there is something useful you missed.
I picked up a legendary weapon called "Spray'n'Pray" pretty early in the game.
It's a silenced sub machine gun with explosive rounds that do 15 points area effect damage.. Overpowered as fuck. I actually stopped using it after a while because it was too easy to kill my opponents lol

Did you already get the Ashmaker? Dude, that's the best minigun you can get in Fallout 4. Try also to get the overseer guardian, that's a combat rifle that shots 2 bullets per shot. The Overseer Guardian is available for sale at Vault 81
if you have the money early on in the game get the spray n pray submachine gun it does 15 points of explosive dame that will stagger enemies and is modded to the maximum level when you purchase it note it is close to 3000 caps tho

Also, did they mention that ALL weapons have a melee attack? :p On a side note, I was highly disappointed that the Shovel didn't count as a melee weapon. HIGHLY disappointed. Also, I modded up a Baseball Bat; made it black, and I renamed it, "The Big Black Bat"

I love that the pipe weapons use oil filters for silencers - It's actually a realistic make-shift way to silence a firearm. You can buy kits that will allow you to thread a firearm to easily mount an oil filter.

I was frustrated with lack of ammo on survival difficulty and always buying fusion cells for my auto laser. I made a new character using power armor and then eventually getting the gattling laser. That build is very fun and I never ran out of ammo once since I can buy fusion cores and find quite a few of them. The gun is surprisingly good on ammo and very powerful. Melee is also a good way to eliminate the ammo problem.

@Candido Villanueva you can use this to jump further too. Hold vats and spam jump and cancel then once your in the air sprint and you'll go pretty far. Can be used to find secret areas without jetpack.
I think an instigating Gauss Rifle is the holy grail of first-shot weapons, most Enemies die to a normal one in one sneak attack shot, and most anything else takes 2, or 3 if they're a legendary and they heal off your first shot.
Stupid Theory: Bethesda got rid of the condition and repair system from Fallout: New Vegas, Because they wanted to distance themselves form Obsidian. (The Outer Worlds has the Condition and Repair system.)
My favorite gun is the two shot combat rife/overseer's guardian. It's amazing with both the .308 and the powerful automatic receivers depending on whether you prefer an automatic or sniper rifle. :)

I got a unique Sub Machine gun at the start of the game called "Spray and Pray" and it basically did me for the rest of the game. It drained life like no bodies business. Killing even the heaviest enemies in practically no time.It had a special feature of causing explosions around where it hits. Causing potential splash damage in addition to the 60pts of damage per shot it was already doing. Combined with the high rate of fire, it was pretty devastating.

Well it's the 2 shot mechanics that do it. And I also have a few mods that might also play a part in it as well. Like the bigger explosions mod that doubles damage and explosive diameter for mini nukes, granades, and mines. I'm sure it would be fine on my vanilla character.
But the 2 shot mod doesn't shoot them side by side. Sometimes they come out at 3&9, 6&12, 8&2, ect.
I have found the Railway Rifle (When I didn't know how to find the Railroad to do the quest.. yeah.. lol) while I kept walking along the broken tracks thrailing through the commonwealth. It was stashed inside a traincart.

my favorite gunbuild is specified to a specific gun: the overseers guardian, it is a legendary gun that you can buy of the vendor in vault 81(the vault is located west of diamont city). its legendary perk is that it shoots 2 bullets for the price of one. w the rifleman perk it can cause around 160 damadge. because of its perk you can double this. im level 67 and normal difficult and im still using this amazing gun.

Correction on the .50 cal selection.
The Pipe .308 can be modified to .50 cal and more over, it can be modded to either rifle or hand gun and Bolt action Pipe is the only gun that fire a .50 cal round, making it one of the most powerful pistols even early in the game. Gun Nut 2 is all you need to mod out a .50 cal, suppressed pipe pistol with a hip fire grip and barrel.

Maybe because it's a suppressed 10mm pistol, and, for me, was one of the first suppressed weapons I came across in the game, and, as a stealth type, is great for taking out enemies at close-medium range without bringing the whole place down on my arse. Not to mention, at the time I got it, was doing about 50% more damage than the 10mm pistol I had with me.
Overseers Guardian, it's a .45 bullet shooter, so most common ammo type at stores making feeding it easier than feeding any other gun. Mod it for single fire, it will do up to 97 base damage (no perks), fires 2 shots per bullet spent. Toss in some psyco jet and you can unload a full vats run of shots doing (with perks) roughly 300 damage each, between the bullets fired out of an enemy mini gun. They fire one bullet, you unload around 7 shots (so 14 bullets doing roughly 150 damage each, vs the enemy mini gun doing 5 damage....)
Cant say I'll miss the durability system.

1- most normal guns would survive.
2- they look like they would explode in your hands, break or jam.
3- only peasants and raiders use them in the game. Everyone with even the slightest significance has a better weapon. You are a hero and by the first 30 minutes of the game you come across 3 weapons that are already better than any pipe gun.

The Alien blaster pistol is definitely the best laser pistol out there, there is also only 1 crashed UFO to contain the weapon. Also, there is an Astoundingly Awesome Tales magazine that increases the damage done by the pistol by 5%, making even more deadly. Mine currently does 94 Damage, 100 fire rate, with a range of 305, with an accuracy of 75, as well as using fusion cells. Oh, and even though it it's not automatic, it still fires very quickly.

I found a couple of new mods for weapons on the Nexus. First up was the M14, which is basically an M1 Garand with a box magazine. You can put a scope on it and it makes a good .308 sniper rifle with up to 30 rounds (mod for large mag included) The other was a .44 Desert Eagle automatic Pistol. Holds 10 to 15 rounds of .44, instead of the measly 6 rounds in the Snub revolver. Also modable. Just between those 2, the damage you can inflict goes way, way up - no cheat guns needed.
The bonus is that those two actually exist as the mod shows them, and the models, textures and animations are great.

Sexy little tip: Get McCready as a companion and max your bond and do his quest, once that's accomplished you will get his unique perk permanently that makes all headshots in VATS 95% chance hit no matter the weapon or the distance. (his perk is bugged, says +20% chance to hit headshots in VATS, when its really like 2000%)
I love getting combat armor, fatigues, and a military colored power armor and parading around with combat rifles and a minigun like a pre war soldier. Really gets the nostalgia going.
I like the idea of crafting the laser musket into a 6 crank, short barreled, shotgun muzzled, futuristic blunderbuss kind-of thing.

What I think everyone will want in Fallout 5/ What will make Fallout 5 GOTC (Game of The Century):
- An option to enable "Weapon Deterioration"
- More diverse weapons in general (preferably from past Fallout games e.i): Fallout 3 & New Vegas)
- An option to enable voice acting for the player's character
- More diverse dialogue option, plus the option to choose between the list mode from 3 & NV, or to stick with the newest style as seen in 4
- Enhanced graphics, texture, shadows, and lighting effects
- Some sore of co-op mode in the campaign that allows you to play as the companion
If Fallout 5 has all that, it will be so near perfect, I will marry it :D
I actually carry a fully kitted .45cal silenced, max power, single shot receiver drum magazine version of the semi-auto pipe rifle with a short recon scope for all the lower level trash enemies I run into to and fro through the inner city. With a short recon scope, low recoil and large ammo capacity, it remains a darn good, low weight option for trash xp. The lack of recoil is really great with a small scope. You can send a second round and take down a tough foe without much refocus, which you can't do with the sniper rifle. It hits like a truck, but good luck avoiding notice. If you get in the danger zone, you can send .45 rounds downrange as fast as you can click a mouse without alerting distant enemies.
Realised this. faloout 4 doesn't have that many guns! This is something I really like. to have 20 guns or so but because of the mods you can make them radically different! LOVE IT.
the Double barrel shotgun was is favourite gun, the the way it reloads means if you can get the limitless legendary effect on it the thing basically becomes a fast semi auto. and it carried me to level fifty before i realised the rifleman perks effects shotguns as well.

A .38 pipe rifle modded w/ automatic receiver and a good stock/scope can be your bread and butter for dealing with trash mobs like mongrels, ghouls, raiders, and even supermutants. Ammo is plentiful and you'll dish out respectable damage, especially if you take a couple of ranks in the commando perk. Against anything stronger, like mirelurks, power armor, and especially deathclaws, you'll definitely want to use a stronger weapon.

i once found a ddouble barrle shotgun with the legendary perk that the entire ammo is in the clip at all time.....man i had fun with this baby. no reload and damage through the roof...beautiful.
i always use a silenced 10mm with a reflex scope, seems to deal the most damage in stealth at mid-range
The sniper/hunting rifle isn't the only weapon that can use the .50 cal ammo.
The Pipe bolt-action can use it too, and I've used it effectively in the early parts of the game with a silenced bolt-action pipe-rifle (nowadays, a legendary one that does double damage on enemies with full health. Great for silent takedowns)
PS. if you remove the stock, you'll get a pretty heavy-damage silenced pistol for use indoors :D
the bolt action pipe gun makes for a good stealth pistol when given the 50 cal upgrade, supressor, and glow sights. it does the most damage for a suppressed pistol.
I know that this is a general video about weapons but if you're a commando the best use of 45 ammo is the spray and pray you can buy from cricket
There is a Chinese Penetrating Grenade Launcher, btw. I imagine there are other named varieties of the grenade launcher as well. They shoot the 40mm grenades, I don’t know if they are strictly vanilla or from one of the DLC’s content.
Cryolator ammo CAN be bought from vendors at iirc 24 caps a shot. It starts appearing once you get the weapon. Also, Dogmeat ;-)
Scrounger perk helps with the ammo problem (on the highest level you even find Fusion cores!!!), and the Railway Rifle can be found somewhere else too.
