Now that disc streaming is a thing I tried my MPC One as a media player for the tracks I can't get on vinyl. Just put a track on a pad and If you use one q-link for global semi tone adjust( set range to -4 / + 4), another for fine semitone adjust and a third one also with fine adjust but at a momentary setting. The momentary fine adjust can act like a push / nudge as you would do with a turntable. It is not great of course but I managed to do some beat matching with this.
resisting this now with the mic 3 update its gonna be alot easier to do live sets. Only thing missing is clip launch I haven't seen or heard anything about it
Great info... Q: Do you know if a RELOOP Mixtour mixer would work on it? And, do you know if it's possible to pre-listen now with the MPC LIVE with the new update?
hello, maybe a helpful tip in case you want to have songs with the same BPM to start perfectly in sync quickly, and you don't want that there's a chance both tracks might start a little bit off each other. The mpc doesn't have to be running (don't 'play start') for this. - set BPM of the MPC in the right tempo of the song / part of the set - press shift + note repeat and choose 1/4th value - press the pad of your first song just long enough to launch it - when you want to start the new song, just press on the pad a little ahead of the first downbeat, and release it after the downbeat - don't press too long, as you'll start the new song 1/4th ahead of the running one, or if you press too long after launching the new track, it will repeat 1/4th after the downbeat! so just pressing a little bit ahead of the downbeat, and releasing just after it should be fine... it takes some practice to get used to it, but it works! good luck
Thanks bro u came through for me. I've been waiting for someone to do this one. I hope that they improve clip mode it could be a game changer if they did it right.
Can you just put in a midi trigger for all pads, then use pad mute to select which one you want to hear, also is there something like quantise trigger, will be getting a live v soon
A midi trigger is a good idea but wouldn’t work because then you’re just sequencing rather than launching tracks in the same way as you would with vinyl, cd or digital dj’ing. Quantised triggers are available already with clip programs but clips aren’t stable enough imo for this purpose - I may do a supplementary video to explore this further.
I'm planning on purchasing a mpc live and elektron ot mk2 for thid purpose exactly, big ups on the vid. Just wondering why there is no ability to set a quantize trigger on audio clips.
D Complexity There is with clip programs but here I’m using a drum program. Clip programs aren’t up to the task as yet and need a fair bit of refinement
this post gives me a lot of ideas. #1 I see the need for the AKAI FORCE. REGARDLESS, I luv the fact that you figured out to how make the MPC in what U needed it to be . . . . . . are you using a DRUM PROGRAM or CLIP PROGRAM with the PAD MIXER ? I believe the CLIP PROGRAM cuts down on the needs for perfect pad timing b/c it will not start the new clip until the next bar.
No I’m using full tracks loaded on drum program pads and I’m triggering them using my own timing skills. If the two tracks don’t match up exactly I’m using the fine tune parameter to pitch the tracks up and down as I would with a pair of technics turntables. The main thing to consider beyond that is to purge any music out of memory that I’ve used and no longer need. I don’t use clips as they simply aren’t up to the task which I can do better manually. Clips are only good for short, perfectly timed loops.
You can but not very well or cleanly unfortunately. If you have one track at 100BPM and another at 120, the warping algorithm will produce artefacts on whatever track you apply it to, whether your speeding the 100BPM sample up to 120 or the 120BPM sample down to 100BPM. The best way is to have a selection of tracks at the same BPM and pre-prepare them in a DAW like Ableton so they are perfectly on the grid, so when you import them into MPC you know they will beat match without having to warp or stretch them. Otherwise it's a case of doing volume mixes/fades as you would on a mixer.
@@computron808 No, a few bpm difference is ok and even more but it depends on the material. If it’s a beat-heavy (predominantly drum driven) 4/4 house or techno track that is quite minimal without too much musical content then you can warp quite a lot. It’ll struggle with breaks and more complex material. Best to just experiment and see what you can get away with.
@@computron808 It depends on the content you’re warping, more complex material and the further you deviate from the original pitch or speed the more artificial things will sound.
I'm still trying to figure out how to do a mixed time signature in a song let's say the song is in 4/4 but I have measure 24 in3/4 . I can't seem to change the time signature within the sequence also I change the time signature in a master page it changes for the whole song oh so it would be nice to be able to change the time signature in the track sequance itself let's see I have a sequence and I have a track one in four four but I want to have track 2 to create some poly rhythm. Any thoughts on this?
Andrew A. Szarka Have you clicked the pencil icon for the sequence edit menu? There’s an option to insert bars and there you can enter different time signatures. If you’ve already tried that then you could also change the track lengths so they are independent from the main sequence and/or one another to create polyrhythms.
Hey, Digga This question is random. I do mostly everything from the box. What would you recommend as a substitute for a limiter when mastering in the box? Secondly, what would your mastering chain look like if you did everything from the box. I use the EQ, Comp, and that's basically it but I wanna hear other methods. Thanks...

I don't think this would be very practical for dj gigs, you need to be much more quicker, ideally have all the knobs physical, but it is always a pleasure to watch your brilliant skills and unconventional techniques, which can be used in many other situations, and for that I thank you very much! :)
There we have these 1000 €/$ + machines, only abled to load fucking 12 tracks before limit is reached. It is a fucking joke. @@TUBEDIGGA wow. that is awesome, thank you. would you recommend the Force or the One for these purposes? Trying to work out if I can actually perform a full hour set on either of these things, the limitations ive found in videos have left me tentative
@@elderchildren You could do it in either machine, Force possibly would be easier as you can launch and mix and match clips. It’s more of a live oriented machine, at least physically.
